Not to preach to the choir but I wonder if people generally realize that AI models like ChatGPT aren't, like, sifting through documented information when you ask it particular questions. If you ask it a question, it's not sifting through relevant documentation to find your answer, it is using an intensely inefficient method of guesswork that has just gone through so many repeated cycles that it usually, sometimes, can say the right thing when prompted. It is effectively a program that simulates monkeys on a typewriter at a mass scale until it finds sets of words that the user says "yes, that's right" to enough times. I feel like if it was explained in this less flattering way to investors it wouldn't be nearly as funded as it is lmao. It is objectively an extremely impressive technology given what it has managed to accomplish with such a roundabout and brain-dead method of getting there, but it's also a roundabout, brain-dead method of getting there. It is inefficient, pure and simple.
#the notes on this post are about to get sooooo annoying#this doesnt touch on the fact that AI is stealing artist's jobs which i think is the real biggest harm of AI#but like#god#just take a minute and think about how stupid the current use-cases for AI are when you consider how it gets to those conclusions#this guesswork has its place in fields where guesswork is necessary like when screening for potential health issues in the medical field#but the benefit of the medical field is that when you get a false positive you can just do further testing to confirm the initial reading#that's called a second opinion and it is how the medical field is structured fundamentally#if you screen someone for cancer and it comes out positive#but it turns out they didnt really have cancer#that's fine! that's good news and it's good that you were at least wary of it!#but so many other applications for AI do not have this leeway where incorrect answers have further reaching consequences#and more importantly AI isn't stealing the fucking jobs of doctors!!!#although jesus i really wish doctors would stop using AI to take notes for patients#yes please lets give all my personal medical info to a big machine that stores and processes literally everything it hears#im sure there would never be far reaching consequences if that machine ever had a data breach#blah

I think one of my weirder flaws is that when people are making a joke about a thing that could be seen as a misconception I get a great urge to correct them. It’s this annoying itch at the back of my mind and it makes me dislike certain common jokes, because I keep thinking “This is an oversimplification or a common misconception. Do they know that. Do they know it’s false. What if they think it’s not a joke. What is their definition of each of these terms.” even though obviously people aren’t going to have a deep conversation about the meaning of life and the nature of being on a shitpost lmao!!!????? This website is built on people taking the piss!!!!!!!! What are you saying!!!!!!
The exception is when I make jokes about these topics, of course. Because I am but a humorous individual making simple jest about an exaggerated conversation piece ! Of course I know what the real deal is!

Hermitgals but its a PRISM Corps au! Because I haven't stopped thinking about it
if you don't know, PRISM Corps is a magical girl universe created by ActuallyRea/Ginjaninjaowo. I drew Pearl as a prism magical girl a while ago for a daily pearl doodle, and later Gem as well, but now here's all of them!
These are still just sketches and rough ideas of what they'd look like because I'm bad at designing clothes, but I'm pretty happy with most of them :D
Notes about the gals and their weapons under the cut :3
I know that the girls change their hair color when they transform, but for the sake of keeping them more recognizable I did keep their hair colors the same as how I would usually draw them, plus sometimes some colorful streaks. Also their hair colors just happen to go pretty well with their color schemes anyways
Pearl - Weapon: Broom, has the ability to make anything it sweeps over disappear. Objects can be resummoned at a later time and will reappear once the prism is deactivated. She's usually part of the cleanup and damage control crew. Her Prism's name is Robbie!
Gem - Weapon: Still deciding on this one! Originally I put her weapon as twin swords but I'm reconsidering it. I also slightly changed her outfit design. Suggestions are very welcome for what her weapon should be, and feel free to be as creative as possible :D Her Prism's name is Mackenzie!
Stress - Weapon: Pandora's Box. A box that contains...something. We're not sure what it is, but it's some kind of spirit that is able to possess and take control of other people. There might even be multiple spirits. She can also trap other people in the box. Her Prism's name is Mochi!
Cleo - Weapon: Puppet Crossbeams, has the ability to control inanimate objects. Is also pretty decent at wacking people. I'm the least sure about Cleo's current design, I had a lot of trouble with it and would appreciate some suggestions and feedback because I am not a Cleo watcher haha. Her Prism's name is Stheno!
False - Weapon: Feather Blades. She can pluck the feathers off of her skirt to use as blades of any length. The amount of feathers she has is pretty decent and more than enough to get her through a standard fight, but it is limited. She'll have to wait for her prism to recharge again after using all of them. This is probably my favorite concept because it is dramatic as heck. I haven't decided on her Prism's name yet, but it'll probably be some kind of bird.
Storywise, False and Cleo joined the Corps around the same time, Stress some time after, and Pearl and Gem joined together later on. Out of this lineup, False is easily the most powerful, prism-wise and skill-wise, out of all the gals here. Maybe False gets to coach Pearl and Gem or something hehe
Oh! And this isn't all of them. A prism has gone rogue and there seems to be an independent magical girl in the city as well...

Oh man, now that would be a really interesting au to explore! Manifesting a Polle shaped poltergeist kinda thing to get his own ass. Intriguing!
It just like, its so typical horror that the game avoids doing but what if.
What if what he had to be convinced it wasn't all in his head? What that fucking centipede thing was in the vent? What if Daisuke got sent in there with it? What is zygote Polle was always in the corner of his eye. It's a reminder of his sanity, the part of him that does feel bad in some small self-centered way.
It doesn't actively hate the others or even have a reason to hurt them other than it messing with Jimmy. He doesn't care but it's like his conscious forcing him to listen. He can't pin this on anyone else if he's the only one who can see it at first. It's meant to take away some of his agency, insisting things he would usually but it's not him. His actions aren't his own and possibly even his words.
It's subjecting him to himself in the worst way possible and its beautifully karmic as it is tragic and horrifying to the rest of the crew.
#little idea is it looks like polle initially but as time progresses it looks like a warped version of Jimmy and polle to the others#like its always polle but for flashes it looks like the monster jimmy is to anya the pathetic selfish waste he is to swansea#a false leader and guide to Daisuke and a false friend to Curly with a empty smile#its still polle but its way more psychological torment the others see and experience as they vary in levels of denial to Jimmy's true natur#idk i have a weird image of how jimmy is violent in my mind and i would like to use this au to reflect that likes hes very reactive rather#than proactive so this polle thing is too#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#ask#anon

tips for spotting false etymology: simply know the real etymology
#I’m saying this as someone who looooves to google etymology or use root words to explain things to my students but like#’if you happen to know what Greek or Latin root words mean-‘ okay but like. people don’t. usually. know that#if they did. they would be able to intuite the meaning of the word. and if they’re accepting a false etymology then they did not do that#I’m wondering also if there’s something I can only refer to as Yank Illiteracy going on where (not just Americans) people who never learned#phonics just simply do not bother to look at the sounds or components of words#I call it Yank Illiteracy bc of the phenomenon where I’ll see an American youtuber see an unfamiliar words and just make a wild guess at a#vaguely similar looking word with like the same initial sound. like a child who is struggling in phonics would.
