Let's make a list of all J&H adabtations we know! Add everything that is still missing from this list

I've noticed during my years of being a J&H nerd that when you enter the J&H fandom, there is so many versions that it might be hard to keep track of all of them. Let's make a favor for new (and maybe old) J&H fans out there and list all the adabtations that featsure J&H at least in some level we know exist!

That way it's (hopefully) easier for new fans to get into J&H and old fans to check out addabtations they haven't yet seen.

I'm going to list both bad and good versions for in some cases it might be just opinion mather wheter or not they are terrible (though there are most likely some addabtations that most of the fandom can agree to be terrible but you get the point.)

...but also it’s not so much of a surprise because it’s coming from me, of all people. Like of course I would still be contributing to this almost non-existant fandom 3 years after the show had been cancelled...

I’ve been going through my tumblr archive, in particular October 2015 - January 2016, when ITV Jekyll and Hyde was being aired and I couldn’t help but feel kinda sad.

We ITV J&H fans that were around back then were such a tight-knit community and I always thoroughly enjoyed hopping onto Tumblr and seeing the gifsets, theories and funny text posts that would be there not long after a new episode aired. I also felt super warm and happy when I saw the same blogs posting stuff, it felt like I was a part of a wonderful family and we all recognised and knew each other. 

Now 3 years later, I can’t help but feel sad because there are no new episodes for us to discuss about anymore so we’ve all kinda dispersed and moved onto other things; heck even I have. But I still care about this show a lot and I miss the feeling of community and togetherness that doesn’t really seem to be there anymore. The overall Jekyll and Hyde fandom that involves all adaptions is a great fandom, but it doesn’t have the same sense of togetherness as the fandom that was specific to the ITV show. Like it seems like what the ITV J&H community had was unique; I’ve never experienced any fandom to have that feeling. 

I guess I’m just feeling particularly melancholic about this right now. If any of you old fans see this (I used to be known as natstheminion, btw, just so you know who I am), I miss you guys and I miss what we used to have. But, I feel like the only thing that can bring what we used to have back is the creation of a second season and at this point I’ve practically lost hope about that ever happening. 

I love this show with all my heart, it’s literally my favourite TV show of all time, and while I sound sad and upset, I will always look back on those few months of 2015/2016 and remember the happiness that this tiny community brought me.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would last year, less, or about what you’d expected?  Honestly I thought my writing was on the decline, I hadn’t had any inspiration for a long while, I didn’t really want to work on any of the WIPs I had, and I was facing a lot of stress at school during the beginning of the year, causing some seriously bad mental health. BUT! Thanks to my good friends in the Jekyll and Hyde Discord, I started getting inspiration and ideas to write about again! Also the decision to finally create an AO3 account to move over to really helped. So I actually ended up writing more than I expected to, considering that at the beginning of the year I was thinking that I’d have to give up writing altogether. 

What’s your own favorite story of the year?  Oof that’s a tough one, but I’m going to have to say Young and Rich and Wild since it was the discussion about this AU in the J&H Discord that actually kick-started my brain into generating ideas and writing again since I found it such a cool idea and I had a lot of fun writing and thinking this one out. Also! Normally I only write one-shots, and I don’t really do multi-chapter fics, so I’m proud that I felt like I could write a multi-chapter fic. Plus, in general, I can see a good improvement to my writing and there are some sections in there that I’m super proud of, and it’s still a WIP! So we have plenty more chapters to go!

Did you take any writing risks last year? Well two of the things I wrote this year I think had ‘writing risks’. Young and Rich and Wild is a multi-chapter fic where I actually took the time to plan it out, which is wildly out of my comfort zone and something that I think I’ve only ever done twice before. The Wolf Admission allowed me to explore some forgotten OCs in a fandom that has kinda died, plus I haven’t actually written much horror before and it was fun to experiment with a field of writing that I like a lot but haven’t done much of. 

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? Well, I hope to finish Young and Rich and Wild this year because I’m really eager to get that done and finished. I also have quite a few ideas that have yet to be written about that I want to write about, plus I have some one-shot WIPs that have been in the works for far too long that I really wanna get done. I also have some non-fanfiction stuff that I wanna put out somewhere.

Best story of the year? Honestly? The Wolf Admission because fuck you I’m really proud of that one and it was so fun to write. Plus I started on it in like 2014, left it, and then came back to it late on into 2018 when I suddenly remembered that Drew was an OC that I had. I improved what was there so much, plus I honestly believe I wrote some of my best work in that fic. Shame it has like hardly any hits ;-; 

Most popular story of the year? Wow, easy. Young and Rich and Wild has 151 hits and 22 kudos, plus when I was writing small snippets off the top of my head and putting them in the J&H Discord, a good number of people there were like “dude you should absolutely write this”, so its had a lot of backing. 

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:  *screams from the rooftops* THE WOLF ADMISSION but also a fic from 2017 called The Young Monsters because I really like that one and it doesn’t have as much love as it should. 

Most fun story to write: Yo, all of the fics that I wrote in 2018 were super fun but I think if I had to pick one it would be The Creation of Another, my second fic about my TGS Lodgersona. It involves Hyde getting annoyed at miniature dinosaurs!

Most unintentionally telling story: Weeeeellll I wouldn’t say it’s unintentional but my two Lodgersona fics, Elizabeth Wolfe joins the Society and The Creation of Another are basically just if I was able to live out my dream of having pet dinosaurs in a Victorian fantasy setting...

Biggest disappointment: I think currently it’s a WIP that I’m completely stuck on. I’ve been working on it for a while and I really want it to be good but currently I haven’t been able to figure out where it’s gonna go. It’s a one-shot about TGS Hyde jumping through a portal and ending up in 1930s London, and you all can probably guess what happens next... what is set in 1930s London and could be related to J&H? Remember that it’s ME writing this, the designated Official Leader and War Veteran of this fandom.... That’s right kids my all time favourite TV show ITV’s Jekyll and Hyde. Basically, TGS Hyde and ITV Hyde (aka My Son) meet each other and fight or something? Idk.... do you see my problem? Idk what to do with this situation. 

Biggest surprise: Y’know I wasn’t expecting my two Lodgersona fics to do as well as they did because normally everyone seems to hate OC and sona fics but what d’ya know a decent amount of people liked them!!

friendship them with:  I kind of have in my personal fannon a post-canon we’ve-seen-some-shit found family of Childermass, Segundus, Emma, Arabella, and Vinculus, all living at Starecross and trying to manage the fall-out of Strange bringing magic back to England while also supporting each other through their own trauma.

general opinions: Childermass is at once too easy for this kind of meme for me, and yet too difficult, because he is so enmeshed in my personal mythos by now. Maybe it’s a product of being both bi and non-binary, but he is very much a case of ‘do I want him, or do I want to be him?’ He’s become something of a touch-stone when I need... support, I guess, in difficult situations, and I think pretty much saved my life. That sounds melodramatic, but I was in a very low place when I saw the JS&MN adaptation and devoured the book immediately after, and through Childermass I... I got my magic back. So, yeah. I owe him one.

Hedwig: If you went to Hogwarts, what kind of pet would you bring? (ex: cat, owl, rat, frog)- I would 100% have an owl; they’re so useful in the wizarding world plus I’ve always found owls adorable- Unless that ex means except, then I probably would have a lizard, maybe one of those salamanders that is mentioned in the 3rd book? I think? Idk

Minerva McGonagall: What is your favorite spell?- I feel that Alohomora always sounds nice on the ear and the Accio spell would be very useful for someone as lazy as me

Arthur Weasley: What do you think is the best “muggle” invention?- The Internet and I’m being serious here. Think about how much information we are able to access just by hitting some buttons….

Hermione Granger: What is your favorite book, how many times have you read it, and why do you love it?- There has always been 1 series of books that I have championed, and that’s the Wereworld books by Curtis Jobling, and they’re kinda like Game of Thrones except it’s target audience is teenagers, so less sex scenes and more were-creatures. I’ve only read the first 3 of the 6, but I must have read the 1st one at least 4 times, the 2nd one 2 times and the 3rd one once. It’s because I study history and english so I’m constantly reading other things. I love those books because I love werewolves and I love fantasy settings like LOTR and DnD and they basically combine those two things- If I had to pin it down to one book it would have to be Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, obviously; I’ve read it about 5 times at least. I guess the idea is very similar to a werewolf, with the whole transformation into a “monster” and the whole like main character being angsty about this “other side” they have. It also sparked my interest in the other adaptions like the Glass Scientists and the musical (although it was the ITV show that encouraged me to read the book in the first place), plus the fandom is honestly one of the best out there because everyone is lovely but also I have never seen a fandom with SO MANY MEMES in my LIFE…IT’S BEAUTIFUL
