Summary:

When Eddie Brock was in college, he used to date a fellow student, a woman named Danielle. Close to graduation Danielle and Eddie broke their relationship off and went their separate ways. What Eddie didn't know when they separated, that Danielle was pregnant with his child. Danielle decided not to tell him because she was scared and didn't want to ruin the one good thing Eddie had left, his journalism.She remembered Eddie telling her about his issues growing up with his own father and that discovering his passion for journalism helped him. Nine months later Danielle ended up giving birth to a healthy baby boy that she named Bentley Brock. She gave him Eddie's last name after feeling guilty for never telling Eddie about the pregnancy and if something happened to her he would be taken care of or Bentley wanted to find him in the future. Danielle was diagnosed with heart issues not long after Bentley was born, and it only got worse as the years went on.

When Bentley was five years old, he woke up and found his mom, Danielle, dead. She had passed away in her sleep, her heart had stopped. Bentley was stuck there until a neighbor checked in on them a few days later and he was taken in by social services who later brought him to his dad, Eddie Brock. Who rightfully so, was in shock from Danielle's death and finding out that he was a father. Bentley didn't really know what to do, all he really knew was his mother and he wanted her back but it was obvious that she wouldn't be coming back…now here he was finally meeting his dad and his girlfriend, Anne Weying. But Eddie and Anne were patient with him and helped him through everything.

Years later, Bentley was happy with his dad and Anne, even though they had to suddenly move to San Francisco after his dad got fired from the Daily Globe. His dad proposed to Anne and now it was almost a step closer to her being his official stepmom. His dad then got to establish his own journalism career again by getting his own show " The Eddie Brock Report." Days after his 15th birthday his dad was assigned to interview the CEO of the Life Foundation, Carlton Drake. Which ended up turning Bentley's life upside down since his dad did the complete opposite of what he was supposed to do, doing a hit piece, and ended up getting himself and Anne fired in the process. Anne broke off the engagement with his dad, she told Bentley he would always be welcome in her home but she couldn't be with his dad anymore. Bentley was upset at his dad but couldn't find it in himself to leave him…so he declined and stayed with his dad.

Six months later, his dad was completely broke, and struggling to work. Bentley decided to help out and get a job at a convenient store owned by Mrs. Chen. It wasn't much, but Bentley wanted to do everything to help his dad. One night Bentley woke up from a bunch of noises coming from the living room and found his dad eating frozen tater tots and even an old rotisserie chicken that had been in the trash. When his dad went to the bathroom, Bentley tried getting a hold of Anne, telling her that his dad was acting weird. Which Anne didn't believe until the next day his dad ate a live lobster, in the tank.

Turns out his dad had an alien symbiote inside him now and its name was Venom…this new "friend" would change both father and son's life forever.

When I Started:*

I started this back in 2012 and was pretty heavily influenced by the 616 identity porn stories (where no one knows Tony Stark is Iron Man). I wanted to explore what events and interpersonal relationships looked like if Tony was still an arms dealer and wasn’t a superhero.

How I Lost My Shit:*

This story saw heavy revision multiple times, particularly after Captain America: The Winter Soldier brought Hydra into the picture. This story was actually finished in 2019, but my initial beta found a huge plot hole that was a legacy of those previous, catastrophic revisions. Fixing it was going to be a huge amount of work, and I stalled out. I didn’t have friends in the fandom, no one but my beta and I knew the story existed, and it went on the list of things to finish… eventually.

How I Finished My Shit:*

I entered this one in the WIP BB because it was functionally so close to finished; it just needed another 6-7000 words to tie everything back together. I was waffling about dropping it to focus on the other story, but it had been my baby for over a decade and I wanted to finally see it done.

↳Re-Introducing Marvel Oc: Robyn Hammer Series: The Merc and The Knight

Summary: Robyn works alongside her brother at Sister Margaret's School for Wayward Children. She's busy ensuring things run as smoothly as they can and supplies are in stock. Just a normal life for a mercenary and weapons dealer.

Sister Margaret's School for Wayward Children was a bar, but also a place where mercenaries accept and cash in on private jobs, this life was normal for her at least. It was a place run by Robyn and her brother Weasel. Over the years, Robyn has met a lot of fun and fascinating people but no one was more fascinating than Wade Wilson.

From the start Wade and Robyn had hit it off, even referring to each other as husband and wife as their nicknames and banter with each other. The two quickly began a friends-with-benefits and maybe something more relationship.

Then, Wade met the one and only Vanessa Carlysle, an escort and friend/occasional fling of Robyn's. The two hit it off instantly and began their relationship with each other.

Robyn was happy for them, those two were honestly the only closest friends Robyn had ever had. But, she also couldn't help but feel lonely and lost since she had grown feelings for both of them.

However, not long after Vanessa and Wade got together as an official couple, they decided to ask Robyn to be with them two. Since they both loved her as well. Robyn was more than happy to say yes.

The three then enjoyed each other's company and only grew closer. Everything was great, Robyn felt like she could finally be happy. But then everything changed when one day Wade fainted and they all found out that he was diagnosed with cancer. He was dying.

Everything was turned upside down, Robyn did her best to support both her lovers while trying to accept the fact that Wade would most likely die.

Then one night Wade disappeared, seemingly without a trace. Robyn saw firsthand how devastated Vanessa became. She then found out from her brother about a Grim Reaper type of character wanting to recruit Wade for something.

Robyn became worried about Wade's safety and wanting to help get Vanessa to truly smile and be happy again she decided to do something extreme.

She would use her skills as a mercenary and go deep undercover, becoming an anti-hero known as The Black Knight. But as the years ran on, Robyn figured that at this point it was most likely that Wade was dead. His cancer was already terminal by the time he left, so after a few years and adding onto the fact he left with sketchy people, Robyn would never see him again.

So, Robyn decided to hide her recent activities from Vanessa, even though her lover could see that she was coming home with more cuts and bruises, and continue on the search for the people whom Wade left with and find out what they did to him.

Robyn was determined to find these people and make them talk, so she was going to take out whoever she needed to that stood in her way. One of those people who constantly got in her way, killing most of the people she was after, was another mercenary wearing a red suit that reminded her entirely of Wade. But it couldn't be him though...could it?

Another round of older fic recommendations - somehow I'm still not done going through all my old FFnet favs. I'm including Ao3 links where I can and describing the fics in my own words.

The Master Manipulator by Guildsister - Robert Hogan has been fighting the Nazis in whatever capacity he can since before his country even joined the war and he's not about to stop now just because he's become a PoW.

This one isn't just a favorite Hogan's Heroes fic, it is The Favorite. The best I've read and what comes to mind first when I feel like reading Hogan's Heroes fanfics. Guildsister did a lot of research for this fic, the characterization of Klink here is my absolute favorite, and Hogan's back story just makes so much sense that I forget sometimes it's not canon. It captures the spirit of the show while grounding it more firmly in reality. It's rated T and found on FFnet.

An Unacceptable Sitch by Allaine - Kim's in college and out of the world saving business, or at least she was until Shego shows up one evening asking for Kim's help. The family that's taken over what was Team Possible's niche isn't the clan of goody two-shoes that everyone thinks they are and both Kim and Shego are going to need to put aside their differences if they're going to get themselves back in fighting shape to stop them.

This is the first in a series - six completed fics and one unfinished - that eventually winds up Kim/Shego for the ship. It ignores the events of S4 - I think it may have been started before Kim and Ron hooked up on the show? - so Kim and Ron never dated here. It's one of my favorite Kim Possible fic series, as it captures a lot of what I really enjoyed about the show. Kim's struggles with accepting herself and her feelings for Shego over the course of the series is also interesting - and considering her difficulties with her social life on the show, feels very true to the character. It's rated T and found on FFnet.

Home for the Holidays by Acid Rain - In which the orphanage gang gets together for the holidays and naturally winds up fighting a natural disaster. But the natural disaster is probably still a lot less stressful than the holiday shopping that preceeded it.

It's part of a series, but stands alone quite well. A Seifer/Squall post canon fic with lots of humor. It's actually a multi-author collaboration and I know at least one of them can be found on Ao3 these days. This fic, however, is rated M and found on FFnet.

Insomnia by tikitikirevenge - Link may have time travel on his side, but that doesn't mean he's got all the time in the world. He can only reset reality so many times before the consequences start to set in…

This one is an unfinished retelling of Majora's Mask. And while it doesn't seem likely this one will be finished, it's well worth the read. It really captured the unsettling feeling of Majora's Mask and the urgency of the time limit comes through with how here everything is happening concurrently - so while Link is helping in the swamp in the fic, future versions of him are already completing tasks in other areas. And he only has so many loops before things go wrong anyway. It's rated T and found on FFnet.

A Brief Account of Life With Zombies by Silverpard - The zombie apocalypse happens. Of course the Holmes brothers find it a nuisance more than anything.

A short but humorous zombie fic set in the Sherlock tv series. Not usually a zombie fan, but silly parodies like this are definitely my cup of tea. I was pleased to find this over on Ao3 (and there's a pod fic of it too) where it's rated G. It's epistolary style, with emails and texts mainly, so there's a bit of distance to the apocalypse too.

To the Sticking Place by zephyras13 - Ianto Jones is sent to Torchwood 3 before the destruction of Torchwood 1 as a field agent meant to keep an eye on the place for Yvonne Hartmon. And Jack hates him for it. But it is hard to hate a person forever. And there's more to Ianto Jones than he lets on.

It's a canon re-write with a dash of fix-fic, though poor Owen and Tosh still don't make it. It's really good with Jack/Ianto as the main ship - the disasters. It's rated M and I was glad to find it over on Ao3.

Truthfully by Salazarfalcon - Loki is absolutely all about causing chaos and starting trouble… but Earth also has this little thing called therapy and it's might actually be helping.

In which Loki starts working out his issues in therapy, discovers he enjoys self care, and becomes more than a bit attached to the Earth. There's no ship here, just family feels and Loki coming to terms with being lied to all his life. Rated T and found on FFnet.

To Turn to the Dark Side, Press Three by frodogenic - The true path to the dark side… being put repeatedly on hold with the insurance company. The hold music keeps playing operas about the Sith - it's really only a matter of time…

A ridiculously silly story about Anakin having to deal with the insurance company after having his arm chopped off by Dooku. He gets put on hold. A lot. The fic is rated G and is indeed on Ao3.

To Save the Queen by AwayOHumanChild - Sabe is living out her dreams of being handmaiden to the Queen when war comes to Naboo. First in a series spanning the Prequel series.

While it's partly a fix-fic, it's mainly just a 'what was going on with the handmaidens' fic. It's a lot of fun - I absolutely adore all the different handmaidens - and there's some Sabe/Obi-Wan going on (very, very, very slowburn) alongside the canon Anakin/Padme. Rated K+ on FFnet. At one point it did start getting cross posted to Ao3, but alas it appears that effort was abandoned part-way through the first fic some years ago. But the series is complete on FFnet and it's one of my favorite Prequel Series fanfics.

Letter to the Manufacturer by Alexis Seven - Kirk writes a complaint about the parachutes used during the mission to Vulcan and ends up in an email chain regarding product warnings and complementary parachutes.

A somewhat dark comedic take on customer service regarding the parachutes used in the 2009 Star Trek movie. Written in epistolary form, it's basically a series of emails back and forth between Kirk and the company that made the parachutes. Rated K+ and found on FFnet.
