Fanmade Deltarune chapter 3 Summer Newsletter
Tumblr media
Alright, so I’m working a Deltarune Chapter 3-4 take and right now I’m working on the room design, I’m just looking for spriters, playtesters, and more! All I know is that I’ve got the Green room sprite, and the green room Music.
Tumblr media
I’ve also got an idea for the people going to the dark world in Chapter 4, basically, in the first half of chapter 4, Noelle will be there, and then they will have sealed the first fountain in there, (there’s two fountains there) and then Catti and Jockington.
Tumblr media
Other than that, I think I have got a good image in my head for Chapter 3, it will probably be released in 1 month since I’m very fast at fangames, oh yeah, before I go, [[[Beware Of TeNnA and MiC]]]] Bye!

Tempted to try running a "patreon" but it's just a newsletter you subscribe to by paying me money directly and then i give you emails. Like fuck it, i'm tired of all the rules about sfw and nsfw and fanmade vs original. What if i just have an email art service. What then.

hi! After reading about it in the Worst Best Sellers newsletter for months, I think I finally want to start The Adventure Zone. Both of you talking about it this month finally persuaded me. How should I start? You and Renata both said to skip the first arc? Do I read the comic? (Also your opposite reactions to Moulin Rouge were hilarious and that sort of difference of opinion is what makes Worst Best Sellers so good!)
Tumblr media
First off, totally fine to talk to me if you wandered over here from Worst Bestsellers land! I tend to think of Twitter as my WBS social media and tumblr as my mostly fandom social media, but I don’t mind them crossing over (especially since I’m not on twitter a lot these days) and I def was being facetious when I said “don’t talk to me on social media,” which I think was a thing I said in a recent episode? Anyway, it was def a joke, anyone should feel free to talk to me whenever and wherever, I’ve just always sort of assumed that the average WBS listener doesn’t care about a steady stream of Hamilton fanart, Great Comet gifsets, Exorcist shipping, and TAZ goofs.
Secondly, sorry that you sent this like, nine years ago and I’m just getting to it now–I’ve not been great at social media recently because I’m dead inside and the world is on fire.
BUT TO YOUR MAIN POINT. THE ADVENTURE ZONE.
I just went back and re-read what I wrote in this month’s newsletter. I think I covered the basics–The Adventure Zone is a D&D podcast hosted by the McElroy brothers and their dad, wherein Griffin DMs a really funny, really absurd, really emotional, really intense campaign and the other three play the main characters. (When that campaign, “Balance,” wraps up, they move on to some other stories/characters, but we’re mostly concerned with “Balance” here.)
The other thing I said in the newsletter is that a lot of people say to skip the first arc, myself included. Here’s why: in the first arc, Griffin starts out by using a pre-made D&D campaign to tell the story. No one but Travis has ever really played before, and Travis hasn’t played Fifth Edition. They’re still feeling out their characters and trying to get the story off the ground and that involves telling a lot of dumb jokes, doing a lot of murders, and not worrying too much about being consistent as characters (except, to some degree, Travis as Magnus, who starts off with like ten pages of backstory). Towards the middle of that first arc, Griffin starts to go off book, and by the end of it, we’re in something completely different from where we started. That tone at the end stays mostly consistent going forward; the story gets more nuanced and the characters grow more, but in a steady, natural way (and there is a conceit within the story itself that sort of retcons why they’re such dinguses at the beginning). The world becomes full of strong characters and relationships and touching moments that deffo aren’t really there in “Here There Be Gerblins.”
So here’s my advice: try episode 1.5. If you can’t get into it or you find it too immature, read the graphic novel, and then skip to “Moonlighting” or “Murder on the Rockport Limited.” If you like one of those arcs, you can always go back and listen to the other episodes (there’s some stuff that’s in the first podcast arc that didn’t make it into the graphic novel adaptation). “Moonlighting” is sort of the set-up for the conceit of the show and walks the boys through some character management stuff, and “Murder on the Rockport Limited” is the next arc and fairly self-contained–a murder mystery set on a train.
And that is my long-winded advice. For a little bit of a taste of the humor of the show, the boys commissioned an animated trailer for the “Balance” campaign, which you can see here:
youtube
And for a taste of the drama/pathos of the show, here’s a fanmade trailer that I really like that speaks to the more plot-centric moments:
youtube
Mix those two together and you probably get a good idea of the overall tone!

[PORTUGUESE VERSION]
next episode >
Jess: In today's episode, let’s start our new series called Official Guide for collectors (O.G.C)! My companion will be a group that i'm a big fan: BTS. Let's welcome them with a bunch of claps! *baksu*
BTS: *thanks for the invitation *.
Seokjin: So, let's start our newsletter for all fans in the world. In first place, what is collection?
Jess: Very well asked, Jin. According to the Aurelio, a brazillian  dictionary, the term collection is defined by "gathering objects of the same nature". This word is already quite demonstrative of its meaning, however, sometimes we forget something else that may be linked to this concept: our feelings. Collectors do their collections because it represents something good for them, warms their hearts or reminds them of very wholesome memories. There are several factors that can make a collection special and, without a doubt, none is the same as the other.
Jungkook: Why doing it, then?
Jess: Because, as I said before, JK, it's something that can warm your heart and be a source of a lot of fun for you. When I was a child, I liked to collect CDs and DVDs that I bought at the street fair; I had movies and mixtapes of all kinds. Back then, it was very pleasuring for me to come home, cook some delicious food and put my newest purchase to play on the device, watching or listening to TV. Did it "make sense"? Did i had a great and noble motivation? No. I did it only for the sake of it, as a source of simple and pure fun, having some healing time doing a tiny hobby.
Namjoon: It makes perfect sense! I think Hobi-hyung and I can totally relate and understand the feeling of our fans; after all, we ourselves are collectors of Kaws dolls.
Hoseok: Yes, absolutely! 94' is a good example; some of our dolls are from special Kaws lines, others were gifts, and so on ... There are really a lot of them in our studios.
Taehyung: Hey, there are a lot of things released under the BTS brand, and the other kpop groups and soloists also have a bunch of items. Is there any specificantion on what this community can collect?
Jess: The sky is the limit, Taehyung-ssi! Literally. As you said, within kpop there is SO much to collect, it would be difficult for me to list everything here; however, among the most requested products are albums, DVDs, photo cards and official merchs. Each one collects what they prefer or like; you don't even need to collect official items if you don't want to! There are a lot of people who make beautiful collections of fanmades. We'll be talking about it in another episode.
Jimin: Wow! I think it's so amusing. Also, i this it's a very valid cause, because it is a form of distraction and relaxing by putting energy into something different from our daily lives... When can I start collecting too?
Jess: Anytime! Throughout our series, we will bring more information on where to buy official items and fanmades very soon, but for now, you can check some tips in our “jess recommends" section at our official Instagram page, @jesscardscaptor. There are several @s to buy from! Plus, i have a "friendly warning": don't be pressured into the world of collections. They can be beautiful and tempting, but no one is forced to have them.
Yoongi: In other words, you will not prove to be more or less of a fan of someone just because you have or don't have theirs stuff. Do not "equal" your admiration for anyone to a simple possession of something.
Jess: You gave a good point! This subject brings me to the reflection about comparison and compulsiveness, but we will be talking about it in the next episodes. For now, thank you all for your participation and I'm counting with everyones presence, both our viewers & our guests,  for the next chats! Thank you!
*sounds of clapping while commercials music plays in the background*
OFF: we still have a lot of posts on this subject called community collector. I will explain many things soon, but if you have any questions, contact me by sending an ask or through my twitter and instagram 😉

Pankhuri Bhutani, the journalist who coined the term 'Third Army,' has graciously given us the chance to interview her. Read on for an insightful conversation, where we learn what she thinks about our campaign, what it was like interviewing the cast, what she thinks comes next for us, and more!
Here's a compilation of her interview in our newsletter issues, in order, with Questions in bold and Pankhuri's answers in text;
"It all came to me when I was reading the Shadow and Bone trilogy. There were mentions of First Army and Second Army. I was a bit confused at first trying to understand just which army included the Grishas and the Otkazat'syas. Then I perused through the Six of Crows duology as well and had a better idea.
Q&A with Pankhuri Bhutani: Third Army origin story - What inspired you to come up with a name for the fans campaigning to #SaveShadowAndBone and greenlight the #SixOfCrowsSpinoff?
One of the most memorable things about a fandom for me is the name bestowed upon them. While Shadow and Bone fans have been embodying different personas—some of them calling themselves “The Crows,” some “The Summoners,” reading the books, I genuinely believed the fandom needed an official name that amalgamated the diverse abilities of the fandom and unified their interests.
And that's when the idea of "Third Army" struck me. An army combined of both the lovers and fans of the original trilogy, as well as the iconic Six of Crows duology, alongside the King of Scars duology and all the chronicles affiliated with the Grishaverse, "Third Army" represents a union of all the fellow Grishaverse fans.
Somewhere along the lines, I did imagine the fandom fighting together as an army. And I was struck with the name "Third Army." I added it to the article I crafted for the billboard launch, and I guess the rest is history. "
Since you have followed the campaign from the beginning, what's your opinion on the different projects undertaken so far? And comparing it to other fan campaigns, is there anything you would have done differently?
To be blatantly honest, I'm not aware of a lot of other fandom campaigns. But I fairly think this is by far one of the strongest contenders out there in terms of a campaign initiated by fans with such monumental strength.
I don't think there would have been anything I would've done differently or quite distinct to what has been happening had I been involved in a wonderful fan campaign like this. But I will definitely request and wish to see more cosplays and other creative work! All of you are so immensely talented!
There have been a lot of talks about the show, and even though the future seems uncertain for now, the hard work and dedication of the fandom will probably never be forgotten.
What made you decide to go with Third Army as a name?
When going through the fandom and the petitions, a lot of people claimed themselves to be a Crow or a Darkling fan. But the fact that all these souls came together to fight for one goal made me believe there should be a united name that could be showcased and witnessed at the forefront of the campaign.
I knew "First Army" and "Second Army" being a part of the Grishaverse world, so I contemplated as to what or who might be the "Third Army" if that was ever a possibility and the first element that emerged into my mind was the fandom. The fandom is the Third Army.
What has been your favorite initiative by the campaign so far? Is there anything you'd like to see in the future?
That's a good question. The fundraiser for the billboard just showed how many people believed in the project to such an extent that they were actively ready to pitch in their own money for the launch.
I do not have a favorite initiative because I believe that even if one of the campaigns is initiated by someone with the best of their interests, it already goes into my favorite book. So, all of them?
I'm not aware of all the initiatives currently being partaken within this specific campaign but I absolutely love seeing people cosplay and talk about their favorite book characters.
The petition as well. I just checked and it has over 200,000 signatures. That's a lot!
What impact do you think having a name to unite fans has had on the campaign?
All of the popular fandoms have a highly recognizable name. Swifties, Arinators, Barbz, Army (BTS). We say the name, and the project/artist's face subconsciously appears in our mind.
You instantly know the artist and the project by the fandom's name. For instance, what comes to your mind when I say the words Potterheads, Half-Bloods/Demigods, Ringers, Thronies?
Potterheads for the fascinating world of Harry Potter, Half-Bloods/Demigods for the Percy Jackson fans, Ringers for lovers of The Lord of The Rings franchise, and so on. The name instantly affiliates a fandom with the project.
I know it's a very strange thing to say, but to me personally, a fandom also sometimes feels like a citizenship. As if you're an official member of the particular fictional world.
You have interviewed several Shadow and Bone cast members. Can you tell us a bit about what that was like? How did you prepare for those interviews, and are there any anecdotes you can share that didn't make it into the final published versions for brevity's sake?
I do believe fandom names are very impactful as it is showcased at the forefront of the project and affiliates the love and passion of all the souls who admire the work of the cast and the crew. And that's exactly what the Third Army has been doing so far!
It was a surreal experience.
There wasn't any question that I believe was left out from my interviews. Everything is out there just the way the initial interviews were conducted. It was an honor to have had a conversation with such phenomenal people. All of them were very kind and very insightful regarding their experience on the project.
I was given access to the screeners of the second season, and I based my questions on things I really wanted to ask the creatives about their performance.
At that time, there weren't any interviews out since the second season had not been launched yet, so I crafted the questions I believed I really wanted to know more about at that specific moment and hopefully ask some novel questions that weren't already thrown their way previously.
As a journalist, what's your opinion on the media’s reaction and coverage of our campaign and the cancellation?
It's actually quite a lot. Especially for a fandom initiative, I do believe a lot of phenomenal journalists and media platforms have conveyed a plethora of coverage pertaining to the unfortunate cancellation.
Everyone affiliated with this project, be it the cast, crew or even the fandom have showcased massive strength and opened up a potential turmoil for several decision-makers, further forcing them to take a second look. Just shows how impactful a united fandom can be.
As we speak, there are still many more such significant pieces coming to light.
Which part of the campaign do you think has had the biggest impact on visibility and public perception so far?
For me as an outsider, I definitely noticed the petition and the billboards that were launched in Los Angeles and London. Those were the two that come to my mind, but I've seen some posts about origami and fan-books too, which seems so kind!
I also notice so many beautiful fan cosplays, artwork, book posts and other impeccable creative endeavors that people and fans like to immerse themselves into using the world of Grishaverse. That's so cool!
Showrunner Eric Heisserer recently attended his studio meetings for Shadow and Bone wearing a Third Army badge. Coincidentally, our Discord server also has a permanent "Third Army" role for all the members. Also, Jessie Mei Li mentioned to fans at a recent convention that they absolutely loved the Third Army name! How do you feel knowing that the name you coined and bestowed upon the fandom has gotten such acknowledgements?
Oh, wow. That's so interesting. That's something I definitely didn't know! I was made aware of the Third Army badges being used during one of the conventions but not about the other lovely acknowledgements. That's a massive milestone for the term.
Very grateful for that, but I really do believe it should be the entire fandom getting the credit—not me. I'm just a journalist who came up with a name that I believed aligned more with the fandom of this amazing fantasy project.
I have personally witnessed the dedication and immense passion each and every fan has committed to the show and its hopeful renewal, so I think we should be celebrating such an established fanbase and the success of a massive campaign like this. Thank you to everyone who used the name! And all the best for your future! Hopefully, we get to hear some good news really soon! And thank you for having me!

My dude, tomska's merch shop is kinda up. Look up tomska store and it's the first link. It's owned by irl digital. I've had a feeling for awhile that he was gonna work with irl digital. I'm so glad it's with them because I've had good experiences with them. I don't think I've signed up for a newsletter that fast.
AAAAHHH!!! YES!!!!!!!
for MCM Dublin i think it was, he say that he wasn’t going to keep selling the mine turtle plushies and i got like real sad because im meeting him at MCM and i rly wanted one, but then in the next Last Week he said that he wasn’t gonna make more because he was closing down his store and i swear me and ila full on caps screamed IRL DIGITAL!!!!!!!!!!!!
so, a few things:
 a) god im so glad martyn is catching them all like pokemons, business genius. him and cornelia are kings of life and hard work.
b) im so glad he’s in such good hands!!! i live in the fucking farthest place possible so i’m not so keen on buying merch at all because it’s either hella expensive or it takes three months, but IRL Digital is such a blessing, i’ve never bought as much merch as I have with dnp and like i’ve never had a problem, and the people who i’ve heard have issues, the peeps down at the costumer service are truly sweet and understanding, so i’m just happy now im getting tomska merch regularly,
c) SIGNED MINE TURTLES WHY IS HE PLAYING ME LIKE THIS, i mean, my plan was to get one but like, actually buy it at mcm and have him sign it there, but i guess the world didn’t want it like that. well, the more the merrier.

I'd LOVE some doujin website recommendations! :D I need some more Surface Josuke in my life-
Chill! Manadarake is a pretty good website--it can be a bit trickier to navigate and you’ll have to basically search every variation of a character’s name in Japanese AND English if you wanna find it all, but the base prices are pretty hard to beat. Most doujin never go above 500 yen and if you’re thrifty, you can grab some for as low as 100 yen (which is ABSURDLY cheap). They also have really good quality control--they mark any and all damage the book may have, and even though all the items are secondhand, I have never gotten a book that looks any worse than what you may find in a bookstore.
Now, where they get you is the shipping. Mandarake’s a great place to buy doujin in bulk because of how cheap they are, but the shipping is usually around 1300 yen or so at the cheapest, so you’ll want to buy enough that it justifies the shipping. (Which I didn’t do today lmao; I bought 3 doujin and 1 clear file folder for 600 yen total--but then that shipping.) You can save on shipping by making sure to order from the same location--Mandarake has lots of different stores all over Japan, and it’ll say which store you’re ordering next to the item. I got all my doujin from SAHRA (which is not a store; it’s their warehouse, and also guarantees that the item is not bought before your payment is finalized).
Mandarake’s also a great place to find official items at the price they’d be sold at in Japan instead of the inflated prices you’d find elsewhere, so if you’re looking for some cheaper figures, they’re good to go to as well.
Otaku Republic is another good place to shop for doujin items--they have a wider selection of things like keychains, bookmarks, plushes, etc. which may be more to your fancy than just books (which you may or may not be able to read: all doujin both here and in Manda are in Japanese, naturally. You can always pay a translator to go through the doujin for you if you’re not in it for the art.). They offer free shipping, but the trade-off is that their prices for the items are much higher--sometimes absurdly high for the item in question. In general, use your common sense about what seems reasonable for the item and you can get a pretty good deal out of them. They also often do item giveaways for people subscribed to their newsletters (which are ridiculously cute and written by the staff) and sometimes free items for people who are signing up and ordering for the first time!
Not to be overlooked is Ebay--a lot of unique doujin items can pop up on there for really reasonable prices and often with free shipping, though of course since these are independent sellers, you should be careful to double check their ratings and reviews and all of that. Be sure to check the different global versions of Ebay, too, and see what else may pop up.
Of course, there’s also a lot of fanmade items from Western sellers as well! Be sure to check Western shops like Etsy, Tictail, Storenvy, etc. for really cute and quality items as well! It’s also a lot cheaper than importing everything all the time.
People also sell doujin on tumblr as well! Be sure to check the tags and see what you may find.
That’s all I’ve got personally; I’m sure others may have better/different recommendations.

WESLEY The Magdalene Grimoire, Necronomicon des Mortes, Hochstadter's Treatise on Fractal Geometry in 12-dimensional Space. "Preoccupied" might not be the word we're looking for. FRED How fast can I get 'em? WESLEY Half of these are antiquities of the rarest order. If I exploit every connection I've made over the last month as the new head of research and intelligence... 20 minutes.

Boring (but necessary) Rule Reminder!
As usual, after we close applications we usually post a quick reminder of the rules. Yeah, I know, total yawn-fest but it’s gotta be done so that our network continues to run smoothly and be a wonderful INFINITE-focused place :)
Please check the full rules here.
We have a zero tolerance policy for any hateful or hurtful behaviour towards the INFINITE members or the members of this network - that includes bashing certain INFINITE members, although we do understand when something is said as a joke. We are hoping to create a forum or chat room where people can discuss all things INFINITE related, and we want that to be a safe and welcoming place.
We will not reblog any edited fantaken materials, eg. edited photos from fansites or gifs of fancams unless the original owner has given you permission to edit them. You are, of course, free to tag your own fantaken pictures with #inspiritsonly if you’re lucky enough to go to an INFINITE concert!
We do accept fanfiction on this network, however we will only reblog fics that fall safely below an R-Rating as there may be younger followers/members. The same applies to artwork. Please keep that in mind!
Fanmade videos of editable content (eg. clips from TV shows, interviews etc which are readily available online) are acceptable on the network. These can include compilations eg. “The best of Dongwoo on Showtime” or short clips (up to 30-40 seconds) of scenes, eg “Hoya saying he hates Sunggyu on ASC”. We will not accept videos that include clips from fancams, as these fancams belong to their original owners. We will happily reblog MV reactions, album unpackaging and your own fancams from concerts. If you want to sub shows or parts of shows, we will reblog these too. But please be aware that when you post short clips from TV shows, these won’t be classed as your original work and will be under the tag #tvshow instead of your username.
We as a network reserve the right to reject an application or delete a member if a blog does not follow these rules, or is known to be abusive towards any INFINITE members.
Okay! Serious stuff done with, time to get back to fun things ~ Members, please be on the look out for a newsletter later today (14th March). And all followers, please look forward to new content reblogged to your dashboard as well as fun future events.

"Tales of" Shopping Guide Addition
A long time ago, I posted a Tales of Series Shopping Guide, and based on my recent experiences, I feel I should add one more online shop ASAP which is: Otaku Republic.
This shop is one of the friendliest I have ever dealt with, and that cheer and enthusiasm is really adorable and infectious! Although I wouldn't necessarily recommend them for official merchandise, as prices can run a bit steep, this is a reasonable option for purchasing new and gently used doujinshi.
Their websites consolidate stock from a number of online stores, so the selection is very good and updates frequently. Doujinshi prices average around the $15-35 USD range and standard shipping is free worldwide.
Every order I've received from them thus far was well-packaged in extra bubblewrap and came with a friendly letter asking how my purchase was. Even better, after your very first order arrives, they will send you a $5 off coupon, and periodically they offer other promotions and coupons, too!
If you're interested in hearing more about anime/manga and doujinshi, their newsletters and articles are cute and fun to read. The staff obviously loves what they do and are fans themselves. For example, they recently talked a little about the Side M x Tales of Asteria collaboration. Another thing is they frequent doujinshi events (like Comiket) and you can sometimes pre-order items (doujinshi, keychains, and other fanmade goods) from those events. They also offer a request service where they will help you look for a particular item if you can't find it anywhere (though I've never used it before, so I can't comment on this aspect of the shop).
All-in-all, if you collect doujinshi, I'd recommend checking out Otaku Republic to see if they have anything you've been looking for.
