Okay, so I finally watched the kh pilot last night, and I see why it didn’t work—I mean the pacing was incredibly rushed and so much key plot and back story was skipped over/altered. But I loved watching it. The characterization is so well done (especially Goofy for some reason?) and the friendship between Sora, Riku, and Kairi is so good. Bonus lots of Riku flirting. Jiminy’s narration is really sweet (if part of the problem skipping over way too much). And the animated battles are comical—drop kicking heartless, Riku waving his hand and the horde disappears. Also I am not over a.) the fact that they went to freaking Agrabah or b.) the fact that they tried to battle the fat bandit from the front. Fools. I am not going anywhere with this. Just felt like scribbling down my reactions.

Troog is a greedy, selfish, twisted, gluttony, rude, abrasive, brutish, heartless, aggressive, hateful, sometimes cynical, hot-tempered, cruel and brutally nasty Tricerahorn from the asteroid Dino Island who wants all the beef, pork, bacon, ham, veal, chicken, lamb and even Horse meat in the whole universe to satisfy his already-massive fat gut, and is willing to use whatever drastic measure to get what he wants. He is best friends with Rexus the Tyrannalion whom he confines in. He also happens to be close friends with MediEvil Dragons from the terrifying planetoid Medievilonia all of whom he frequently makes shady deals with in order to kidnap then slaughter and eat every single Cow or Bull, Horse, Sheep, Chicken, Turkey and Pig in existence. Troog has a tendency to react violently whenever he dose not meet his demands, even at one point nearly outright killing one his own Triceahorns in a fit of violent rage. When teamed up with Rexus the Tyrannalion, The MediEvil Dragons or even The Wolf, Ferret, Weasel, Raccoon and Coyote Bandits in the planet Pleasure Paradise Troog is one sadistic monster🐮🐴🐷🐎🐄🐖🐗🐽🦕🦖

"Happy Birthday, Tifa!" Big Belly the Large Body and Flame Fatso the Fat Bandit shouted.
“Oh!” Tifa shouted in surprise when she was knocked back by something squishy from behind her when she walking around Radiant Garden. She turns around and sees Big Belly the Large Body and Flame Fatso the Fat Bandit of the Heartless Rebels, and they came to wish her happy birthday today.
Tumblr media
“Big Belly, Flame Fatso, thank you for saying it’s my birthday.” She smiled.

When we were younger, for some reason, we never said the right name for the Large Body Heartless in Kingdom Hearts. Instead, we called them by a different name: Big Fat Juicy Apple.
It has been 17 years since we played that game and to this day, we still call them Big Fat Juicy Apples.

“Razoul, this is Flame, reporting for duty.” The Fat Bandit Heartless spoke to the captain of the guard.
He looks at The Fat Bandit with a smile on his face. "Ah right on time, I like that." He looked him up and down. "Somehow you remind me of me." He said, being as smug as he could.

"Hey, Big Belly. Flame. How are you boys?" Kairi asked to the two round bellied Heartless Rebels. (@muses-of-the-memory)
Big Belly the Large Body and Flame the Fat Bandit woke up and shook their jiggly bellies after hearing Kairi's voice.
"Oh hey, Kairi." Big replied to the girl from Radiant Garden. "It had been a while." Flame the Fat Bandit spoke.

Lucas was practicing his Keyblade swings in the back alley of Traverse Town. When he attempts to spin it by the handle, it flies off and lands right to Kairi’s feet. “Uh, sorry,” Lucas sheepishly apologized as he rushed up to his weapon to pick it up, “I’m still a bit rusty with this thing.”
It had been a long time since she had been in Traverse Town. Especially when her homeworld, Radiant Garden when it was Hollow Bastion was filled with Heartless when the Final Keyhole was unsealed.
She was going to see if Big Belly the Large Body or Flame Fatso the Fat Bandit would be available to play with their bellies, until she saw a Keyblade at her feet and sees its user.
"Oh, this Keyblade's yours? Here." She said giving it to Lucas. "Hi. I'm Kairi." She introduced.

Sound of the Sunset - Lazy Afternoons
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Ephemer & Player Character (Kingdom Hearts), Player Character & Skuld (Kingdom Hearts)
***
“So, where’d you end up today?” You swing your legs against the stone lighthouse wall and take a bite of your ice cream.
“Olympus Coliseum. They were holding some kind of tournament I got wrangled into participating in.” Ephemer sits leaning against the window frame, one leg dangling outside and the other bent so his foot is beside you on top of the sill. He gestures with his free hand, mimicking keyblade swings. “I learned this cool new move though – it’s like a fwoosh and then a shiiiing! and then I jump up in the air and kapow! the Heartless is toast.”
You chuckle at his enthusiasm, but also keep a cautious hand on his ankle in the event that his passionate re-enactment throws him off balance and he falls out the window. “You make yourself sound very impressive for someone I’ve seen trip over nothing.”
He swipes playfully at your shoulder. “My scarf blew in my face so I couldn’t see! And there was a loose stone in the road that threw off my balance.”
You raise your eyebrow at him and take another bite of your ice cream. “Nuh-uh, I know what I saw and it was about as graceful as the Fat Bandit Heartless in Agrabah are.”
“Okay but this move looks really cool, I promise!” Ephemer tucks his other foot up on the sill next to you and slouches down against the window frame, pouting.
You finish the last of your ice cream and tap the stick against Ephemer’s knees. “Alright Mr. Cool Guy, I’ll give you another chance to impress me with this fancy new move of yours.”
“Success!” He sits up straighter and rests his head on his knees, staring out at the sunset. “You know, I wish they’d send us on more missions in groups. I feel like we’re always going out on our own. And even when you do get to work with someone, you’re only ever paired up with people in your Union.”
“There are some missions you do with your party, too. But I get what you mean—sometimes it feels lonely just exploring a new place on my own.”
“Yeah, that too.” Ephemer turns to rest his chin on his knees, looking at you. “I guess I’m probably taking away a lot of the time you’d spend with your party.”
“I could say the same to you.” You draw shapes on your thigh with the leftover ice cream stick. “I never talked to my party much anyway; I’d just drop in sometimes when they asked for help with a raid boss, or share my best fighting ability to help other people out.”
You feel Ephemer’s eyes on your face and find yourself continuing to talk. “Actually, my party leader just talked to me yesterday and said that they’re looking to become a more hardcore party. She wanted to know if I was going to be up to the task of getting more Lux every day.”
“Oh,” Ephemer says quietly. He prods at your leg with his leftover ice cream stick, tracing over some of the patterns you’d been absentmindedly drawing. “So, what are you gonna do?”
“I... don’t know, really. I wasn’t going to tell you because I thought it’d make you feel bad.”
“Make me feel bad?” He draws a sad face on your thigh and you mime scratching it out.
“Yeah, I mean, I used to do more stuff with my party before I met you, but lately I’ve been wondering if I should just go solo for a while.”
Ephemer’s hand pauses mid-pattern and he looks up at you. “But, you’ve been with your party longer than you’ve known me! They should come first.”
You turn to meet his gaze. “Sure, I guess, but... I don’t really want to do the competition thing anymore. I’m tired of the rivalry and the rankings. And I’ve had way more fun hanging out with you than I ever did collecting Lux for some petty reward.”
You catch a flicker of a genuine smile from Ephemer before the corners of his mouth turn downwards in thought. “We’re from different Unions, though. We might not always be able to hang out like this. But your party will always be there.”
You kick your heels against the outside of the lighthouse and turn away, studying the ever-darkening horizon where the sun has finished setting. “I dunno. We’ll see what happens.” You gesture in front of you. “It’s getting late. We should probably head back.”
You feel his eyes on your face but continue to stare straight ahead. He taps his ice cream stick against your leg one last time, then scoots backwards so he can swing his legs over the windowsill and into the lighthouse. “You’re right. But, I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Yeah, of course.”

Find Sound of the Sunset on AO3! It updates every Tuesday. This is the fourth chapter out of 28.
Fic Summary: What if you and Ephemer had spent a year getting to know each other before he disappeared? What if you and Skuld had had more time to become friends before the Keyblade War? A slightly canon-divergent AU with an overdose of fluff, friendship, and found family.
Feel free to message me with hc requests or fic prompts! :)

"Hello there." Flame Fatso the Fat Bandit spoke from behind Lea.
Tumblr media
Huh?
That’s a voice Lea hasn’t heard before. With a roll of his shoulders and a crack of his neck, the redhead turns on his heels to face the... heartless?
Tumblr media
“Th’hell’d you come from?” He blinks a few times and reaches to scratch the back of his head -- the Fat Bandit hadn’t attacked him, so he may as well just roll with it.

"Hey there, Kairi. Thanks for the uh, Fat Bandit Heartless toy." Sora said seeing Kairi's gift as he accepted it from her as he was in Christmas Town for the holidays.
"I also got you a gift too." Sora spoke to his girlfriend.

XII Days Till Kingdom Hearts III
Tumblr media
Larxene - The Savage Nymph // Number XII
Tumblr media
Number XII’s Weapon - Knives: Foudre
Tumblr media
Ansem’s Report XII:
“The body is gone; the heart should have returned to the Heartless. And yet, nothing.
This one is unlike any other. Its memories remain and it has yet to take the form of a Heartless.
A close eye must be kept on the situation. Much is still unknown.
To get to the realm of Darkness, one must go through the doors of Kingdom Hearts, the place where the world's hearts connect.
Beyond this world is a place in which darkness reigns. (Details shall be archived in a separate report.)
There are many worlds in existence, some of which we know nothing about.
The world in which we live. The realm of Darkness. The realm of Light.
And the world in between.
Wherein lies true nirvana?”
Secret Ansem’s Report XII:
“Apart from Naminé, Nobodies retain their memories of their time as humans, but Sora's Nobody, Roxas, has lost Sora's memories.
This is likely because Sora's time as a Heartless was short, having recovered his heart and returned to his human form soon after leaving behind Roxas, his Nobody.
It would seem Roxas is much like Naminé. Naminé is Kairi's Nobody, but came into being via Sora's body and soul.
Likewise, Roxas is Sora's Nobody, but was left behind because Sora's Heartless regained human form using Kairi's heart instead of his own. It may be that Sora's memories are slow to return because the half of him that Roxas is still lacking.
I must convert Roxas into data and return him to Sora.
As a member of Organization XIII, it was exceedingly difficult to bring Roxas in. Having lost to Roxas once, Riku laid everything on the line and used the power of darkness in their second battle, only just managing to bring Roxas back with him.
But Organization XIII grows ever nearer. Here, Twilight Town, is where Roxas was reborn as a Nobody.
This is where Roxas first encountered Organization XIII and joined its ranks.
They are bound to search this place thoroughly.
First I shall convert all of Twilight Town into data and construct a "world duplicate" in Sora's memories. I shall place Roxas within that world to live out his days and regain those memories.
There is little time.
The Organization's schemes must be making steady progress as well.”
Xehanort’s Report XII:
“The time has come. I have received word from Eraqus that his pupils are to become true Keyblade Masters. Terra and Aqua... They will be easy now to lure into the outside world. But Ventus! I will get nowhere without him.
Vanitas can feel some of what Ventus feels, and he says Terra is the key. Ventus has loved Terra like a real brother ever since he let him keep his old wooden Keyblade. It seems we have found a loose thread at which we can tug to unravel Ventus's heart.
The first step is to get Terra alone; then we need to plant the seeds of doubt in Ventus. Let him carry his faint light as he chases his brother into the darkness.
Let the darkness make his light stronger, then let the light deepen the darkness. And where the two finally meet is where the stuff of legends will become real.“

Countdown to Kingdom Hearts III: Day 9: Combat Systems
Nine more days until Kingdom Hearts III comes out, so as part of my countdown, I’m going to rank every combat system in the series in order from the one I enjoy the most to the one I enjoy the least. I like playing all the Kingdom Hearts games, but some combat systems are more fun to play with than others.
9. The card system in Re: Chain of Memories is a bit of a mixed bag for me. When I’m playing through Sora’s story, the cards are frustrating because I have to keep updating my deck constantly in order to survive a fight with anything more powerful than a Shadow. But when I’m playing with Riku, with the deck already pre-arranged for me and all the extra stuff like Dark Mode and Duel Mode available, I have a blast just cruising through rooms and destroying every Heartless I can find.
8. For all that I’ve stopped playing Union X because the story for the English version is both staggeringly far behind the Japanese version and has reached a point where it’s impossible to continue without either paying for more jewels or spending excessive amounts of time grinding on non-story missions to earn enough jewels to proceed, the gameplay is still fun and I like being able to load up my Keyblade with as many powerful medals as I want and just let each medal do it’s thing without having to worry about the attack being deflected because the enemy has a higher valued card.
7. There are plenty of things I enjoy about 358/2 Days. The story, the missions, the ability to play as other Organization XIII members in multi-player more. But the combat system is lower down on the list. It works for the missions, but I really don’t like having to limit how many times I can cast each spell, and having a limited inventory for items collected in the field.
6. Re:coded is one of the games I enjoy more because of the gameplay than the story, but it’s still fun to play. The deck commands from BBS translate well onto the new platform, and the system sectors offer a lot of fun challenges, although the Keyblade overclock abilities can get frustrating when I need to use a specific one to complete the challenge.
5. The battle system of the original Kingdom Hearts ranks solidly in the middle for me. It’s simple and elegant (even more so in the HD remaster), but because I came into the franchise through later games, it doesn’t have the same appeal to me.
4. Despite criticisms of it being a button masher, the combat system for Kingdom Hearts II will always hold a special place in my heart because II was the first KH game I ever played and was my gateway into the series. I sometimes find myself attempting to use the triangle button to knock back a Large Body or Fat Bandit in other games forgetting that I can only do that in KH2.
3. I really enjoy the flowmotion of Dream Drop distance because it means I can have unlimited movement and basically just trash any enemies in my path. The only reason I don’t rank it higher is because of the fact that the command melding of BBS and Re:coded is no longer present, which is something I enjoyed very much in previous iterations of the combat system.
2. Birth By Sleep is my second favorite combat system in the entire franchise because it gives us Deck Commands, the ability to use our existing commands to meld new ones, and keeps the reaction commands of KH2.
1. While Kingdom Hearts III isn’t out for a few more days, A Fragmentary Passage uses the exact same battle system, so I’m including it anyway because I absolutely love the combat system of 0.2. It combines the best of the KH2 battle system and the BBS battle system with a whole lot of new features that are going to make III an absolute blast to play.
