Whoever's setting up displays for my local public library is either really sneaky, or not vetting things well. I looked back at the SJW shelf while waiting in line, and THIS
Tumblr media
was on display front and center 😂 Which was very convenient, since I've been meaning to read it forever.

Ramzi Mallat in conversation with Najlaa El-Ageli and Yahya Zaloom
Artist Ramzi Mallat will be in conversation with Yahya Zaloom, director of P21 Gallery and independent curator Najlaa El-Ageli. The talk will provide insight into the artist's practice and cover themes regarding Fault Lines, his solo exhibition on show at the gallery.
Artist: Ramzi Mallat is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores the socio-political impact of globalisation on notions of identity and self. Mallat draws on a rich tapestry of theological and folkloric history of the Levant region, his work challenging the conventional notion of tradition as a civilisational legacy by revealing a narrative based on a society’s cultural vanguard in the course of a struggle. The artist has been appointed a Trustee for the IMOS Foundation in the United Kingdom and was selected as one of Forbes Middle East’s 30 Under 30 Honorers in 2022. His most recent short documentary has been awarded the 'Official Selection' laurel by the Scarab Film Festival in Dubai, UAE, the Story International Student Film Festival in Cork, Ireland and the Lebanese Independent Film Festival
Panelist: Najlaa El-Ageli founded Noon Arts Projects in 2012 with a mission to bring the best of contemporary art from the MENA region, from both emerging and established artists, and expose it to the world stage. She was selected to be a member of the jury for ‘The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) 2016 and 2019, and sat as member of the board for The London Prints Studio from 2017 to 2020.
Moderator: Yahya Zaloom is Artistic Director of P21 Gallery, a London-based charitable trust promoting contemporary Arab art and culture, committed to creating visibility for Arab artists worldwide. Yahya holds a BA in Mixed Media Fine Arts (University of Westminster, London), an MA in Visual Culture (University of Westminster, London), and currently studying MA in Art Curation by practice (University of Teesside, Middlesbrough).

I've been re-reading Worm and God the part starting with Coil bombing the mayoral debate and ending with the heroes coming for Taylor in school (or Noelle's death, if you're picky) is such an insane run of arcs. Just banger after banger after banger.
It's got everything; Taylor being blinded, Coil pretending to free Dinah, Taylor fighting her way out of Coil's trap, the Undersiders thinking she betrayed them, Coil finally biting the bullet and Dinah going home, and then boom! Noelle time, and everything that comes with it!
It's by far my favourite part of the book. I honestly think Gold Morning is the only thing that can compare to it. It's an absolutely insane decision to have the two cathartic things we've been building to since before Leviathan (Dinah being freed and Coil exiting stage right) happen in the middle of that shitstorm, and even more insane to make them work so well.

Fanart for Echoes by doctortrekkie !!!
I’ve read the whole series so far but I wanted to at least draw something for Infected 🚦might maybe draw more if I get around to it!
(Also, in case you can’t tell, the three sections are supposed to represent each coloured life—e.g green section with the grass, yellow section with scar, red section with dogwarts)

Faultline is portrayed as a pretty decent person in the narrative and compared to some other worm characters, yeah she could be far worse.
But her primary motivation is money, and she will put getting the bag before anything else. Not giving a shit about working with nazis as long as she and her team gets paid is the most obvious example I can give here.
Only looking into cauldron because one of her employees are paying her to do so, and from what I've read on the wiki (bc lord knows I'm not reading ward, so ward-heads if I get this bit wrong do let me know) is laundering merc money in a post apocalypse, which, y'know, that tracks.
Also, (not sure if this counts but I have to bring it up or I'll go mad) but she has a habit of picking up disenfranchised capes (case 53's, labyrinth, spitfire, ect) and giving them offers they can't refuse, so seeing as they do depend on her to pay them I do think there's a case to be made for her exploiting them to some degree.
Do I think that faultline thinks she's exploiting the rest of her crew? No not at all, (she probably doesn't consider herself morally bankrupt either).
She clearly cares for them but considers them as 'friends and employees', so as much as she likes the crew, they are assets to her mercenary business at the end of the day. And it shows in the way she treats them, pressing professionalism and training into the day to day.
Faultline is the owner of the Palaquin, owner of proxy businesses, the one handling all the jobs and money- shes their boss.
And if you go and throw out the power imbalance to found family all of them, well, I can't stop you, but I will probably click off of the fic.

2012 Brockton Bay Pride Parade
Undersiders float: Lily and Sabah, with Brian there as an ally to drive. Lisa had better things to do (though she begrudgingly helped fund the whole thing), and Rachel is off-world with the Heartbroken.
Wards float (directly behind Undersiders): just Vista (and Aisha 🤫). She's staring daggers at Lily's back.
Faultline's Crew float: Faultline (traded out the usual lime green and neon pink costume for a rainbow one), Elle (wearing her normal costume but with lesbian flag shoelaces), and Gregor (wearing trans flag short shorts and a fishnet shirt). Gregor is spraying the crowd with HRT slime, and is having more fun by far than anyone else.

Gwendolyn Pendragon ✤ Faultlines ✤ What Died Didn’t Stay Dead
And it's harder than you think
Moving to America hadn’t been an easy decision, no matter what Gwendolyn Pendragon’s friends might claim.  Leaving behind her loved ones was hard enough, but abandoning the war effort was even worse.  But with Grinlewald fixated on her family name, the best way for her to protect anyone was to be far away.  It was a good plan, for a time.  But when she runs into her dearest friend for the first time in a decade, she has to face the truth.  Her time is running short, and her past is close on her heels.
Telling dreams from one another

Ramzi Mallat - 'Shock and Awe'
This Arabic saying translates to “Magic of the East” and becomes “Magic of Evil” as the last letter fades from the composition.
Provocatively titled 'Shock & Awe', Ramzi Mallat (@ramzimallatstudio) reflects the dichotomy of perspectives in which the Middle East is portrayed.
The neon sign and accompanying prints are on display as part of 'Fault Lines', a solo exhibition by Ramzi Mallat at P21 Gallery which has been extended until 2 December.
