What it is.

Comedic personal essays about the plight of being a woman.

What rates it.

This book is terrible. At times I found the jokes funny but then when I thought about the subject matter that she was making jokes about, I realised that the writer is a white feminist. In moments when women were clearly discriminated because of their race and being a female, she would label it as the sexism that she experienced herself. It was just stupid, immature and does nothing for the cause.

Cuando tenía 13 años mi tía comenzó una vida con su nuevo marido; todo parecía salirles bien, él era atento con ella y muy amable con el resto de la familia, tiempo después adquirió actitudes que me incomodaban, digo "me incomodaban" porque solo ocurría con migo, a veces se acercaba y de forma inesperada me acariciaba, me hacía masajes e incluso me preguntaba cosas extrañas, todo esto era muy incomodo para mi, por ende decidí comentarle a mi mamá lo que sucedía, a lo que ella respondió "No le ponga cuidado, solo son bobadas". No obstante estas acciones desagradables continuaron hasta el punto en el que no regrese solo de forma preventiva. Un día volví para hacer un favor, él me abrió la puerta; me abrazo, pero no me soltaba, su mano hacía un recorrido morboso por mi cuerpo... mi respiración se aceleró, tenía miedo y las ganas de llorar eran inminentes, pensaba en que hacer por si acaso y en el momento más deseado apareció mi tía. Por fortuna no paso a mayores ¿Pero si algo hubiera pasado? ¿Si ese día nadie hubiera llegado a mi rescate?
