Fig was finally starting to accept that she was going to keep growing up. The world was going to keep turning, everyone getting older, the seasons passing. She was never going to be that terrified teenager covered in blood again. For better or worse, she couldn’t ever go back. She was trying to get used to that idea, trying to accept it. Some mornings were easier than others. But then nights like this- giggling with Gorgug, stealing food off his fork, watching mindless youtube videos while the world grew dark outside- made the bad mornings easier to handle. Maybe that’s what growing up was. Figuring out how to handle everything the best you could.

The thing I find really upsetting about thistlefaeth/figorgug is how much the fanfics/art find it so easy to erase ayda, a black dieabled lesbian. Like. Why is that something you're interested in doing.

she runs her fingers through your hair, the white streak you don’t like to look at in the mirror, and there’s something in her expression that makes your stomach twist. you nod and smile when she asks if you want to dye your hair with her. you think she’s the coolest person in the world, and you can’t imagine not following her into every next adventure. even one as small as kool aid hair dye.

29 for the fic ask game!

29 - favourite line/ passage you wrote this year?

this was way more difficult than I expected it to be, i think I’ve written the best things I can and the stuff im most proud of but i truly couldn’t think of a single defined passage as like the one favourite one i did look at and definitely could pull something from a not used to it verse fic bc i think overall the three of them together are what im most proud of but i really love this part from every song i’ve ever loved which is a figgorgug first kiss fic

It’s like this really, he likes to be by her side and he is also in love with her and those are two separate things. She only needs to know one of them and he will swallow the aching-aching-aching like it doesn’t sting and bleed like a lip bitten in a fight. Even when the studio is too hot and he is tired from drumming it’s worth it to be one half of fig-and-gorgug, the biggest fucking rockstars in Spyre. It would almost be easier if she would reject him, if he could pick up whatever of him he left behind in the booth and move his mind forward. Except that isn’t true and it could never be because he always wants to be the one who fits by her side, even if it’s stupid-selfish-reckless.

“Hey…” He’s brought back into the world with the sight of her face when he hadn’t even noticed she left the booth he was so lost in his head. Her nose is an inch from his and she’s chewing her lip nervously, the all too familiar wrinkle in her brow unpleasantly present. “Are you alright, you’ve been off all day?”

He doesn’t know how to answer that without spilling his guts onto the carpet. The wrinkle in her brow deepens.

She looks at him and he reaches out a steadying hand, it lands on her forearm still wrapped in his sweater. “You know you don’t have to stay right?”

“It’s not-” He can’t remember the last time he spoke and his voice is painfully loud before he takes a breath. “I want to be here.”

The words are almost a confession but when she smiles like that he would tell her every one of his sins. He is wrathful and greedy and wanting and Figueroth Faeth absolves him of each of those things with her smile, something he can’t recognise reflecting back at him in the pale gold shine of her eyes.

It’s Gorgug’s idea, is the point. They’re sitting on the floor of her apartment in Bastion City and she can’t even look at him when he says it: still holding her hand, still looking at her snotty tear-stricken face with those big dark eyes, patient and mesmerizing and horrible and perfect. He does this despite the tissues balled up on the floor, despite the makeup flaking off her cheeks, despite the dishes in the sink, despite the missed calls and the missed lunches and the missed rehearsals and despite despite despite her big ugly terrible mess, he is there.

He offered his words gently, genuinely, no expectation in the quiet rasp of his voice. “Why don’t you come home?”

She was drinking in the bathtub when it happened. Well, that wasn’t quite accurate. She and Gorgug were locked in a second floor bathroom, her in a bathtub and him with his legs stretched in front of him on the ground splitting cheap wine with a party raging outside the door when it happened. The party had been Lola’s idea, to celebrate the release of their much awarded third album. The wine had been Kristen’s, she bought in bulk from the grocery store and it tasted like fruit juice right before it turned. Like the fruit had been heavy on the tree, seams splitting with the juice.

She thought the bathroom had been her idea, and it had seemed like a good one when she was three tequila shots and an Amaretto sour in.

Which was to say she was sat in a bathtub, half a bottle of wine past drunk when Fig realised she was in love with Gorgug Thistlespring.

So I just finished the first season of fantasy high this weekend and of course immediately dove into ao3, and omg figorgug is mesmerizing and I didn’t realize how much I would totally love it. Also your accidental married fic will live rent free in my brain for a while now, sending you all the extra kudos, it is absolutely beautiful, lyrical and so touching.

i have a figorgug romance, a fig post slasher fic and then the start of a fig ghost fic i started in my notes app all coming with me + one or two 911 fics that im slowly chipping away at
