It’s WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.

Here’s how it works:

Anyway, then Steel catches them, so that's pretty helpful.

"Thanks, man," Superboy manages past the painful kryptonite-induced weakness and nausea, and Steel sets them both down all nice and neat on the sidewalk.

"Any time, kid," he says as he breaks the bolted-in kryptonite off Lois Lane's chest with an armored hand, then tears off into the sky with it, presumably to deal with a certain delusional idiot. Superboy figures he'll leave him to it and just make sure the pretty lady is okay, given the active involvement of kryptonite in the whole situation.

He looks at Lois Lane and opens his mouth to ask if she's alright, and she shrugs out of the broken straps that are all that's left of the bomb harness now that Steel's gotten at it.

The front of her blouse is torn right over her heart, and Superboy can see the bright blue swirl of her soulmark through the damage.

It really pops, he thinks distantly.

"You're staring, kid," Lois Lane says dubiously, putting a hand over her exposed mark, and Superboy jolts in mortification.

"Sorry!" he blurts, looking away quick. Well–now he knows who's on the other end of Superman's soulmark, he guesses. And it's not like it's a surprise who it is. A lot of people have suspected that Lois Lane and Superman are soulmates, after all, especially since he died and everyone found out he definitely had one.

Though the confirmation of that fact does kinda make Superboy wonder what's going on with Clark Kent, now. He thought he and Lois Lane were engaged or something. Or like–maybe they're married by now? He doesn't actually know. He doesn't, like, make a habit of keeping up on the relationship status of random Daily Planet reporters.

Although he guesses Lois Lane doesn't count as "random", considering.

"Sorry," he mutters again. "I won't, like–tell. Obviously. I mean it's not–like, obviously you'd be Superman's soulmate but I won't actually–"

"It's not Superman," Lois Lane says shortly, still covering her chest kind of . . . protectively, maybe? And Superboy . . . frowns.

"What?" he says.

Nancy Wheeler first caught Steve’s eye when she interviewed Tommy and Carol for a newspaper article about soulmates. She clearly hated the topic she was being forced to write about, but she’d plowed determinedly through her pre-approved questions, a cute little furrow between her brows. She’d seemed sweet — beautiful and innocent-looking, with huge blue eyes that Steve couldn’t look away from and a frumpy little cardigan that he somehow found endearing.

It wasn’t until Carol had called her a boring reporter that Nancy had stopped acting nice. She’d hit Tommy and Carol with questions Steve was sure weren’t written in her little notebook. Things like are you both faking being soulmates for popularity? and does Tommy truly believe you’re soulmates and not realize Carol is manipulating him?

Tommy and Carol had been shocked and when Steve had tried to defend them, Nancy had turned on him, questioning if he really had two soulmates or if he only wore two armbands to make girls think they had a greater shot with him and boost his own social status.

It had been brutal. Nancy’s eyes had flashed, her chin tilted up and her lower lip sticking out, an expression Steve would recognize later in their relationship as Nancy’s stubborn-anger face.

Steve had felt a little attacked, to be honest. But he’d also been intrigued. Most of the girls he dated couldn’t handle Tommy and Carol, couldn’t give as good as they got.

Nancy wasn’t afraid to call bullshit and Steve liked that about her.

TS3, boderderless, new machines and FPS limit!!!

I never knew I would be making this post till few hours back, but until now it wasn’t really much known that sims 3 in windowed mode could be run with FPS limit, which forced a lot of people to run the game in full screen. Recently a friend (find him here) and I discovered how to limit FPS for both 1.67 and 1.69 game versions in windowed mode.

Why is this important?

Well, on newer PC’s, ones with a GPU processing power that can easily render recent games, Sims 3 is expected to run exceedingly well... but because Sims 3 is so poorly designed/optimized on a technical level, there is a problem with that. Sims 3 has no FPS limitation, so on newer cards, FPS can get up to even 1k FPS which is INSANE. Personally I had from 500-700 FPS on loading screens myself. This means that: 1. Your card is being overworked and overheated and will be damaged 2. The in-game micro stutter that happens frequently is because the game constantly has short but extreme peaks in frame rate (from 60 - 600 FPS) This is why it’s desired to FPS limit TS3.exe or TS3W.exe!!!

What does windowed mode have to do with all of this?

It’s possible to limit your game FPS in full screen mode trough your graphic control panel application. Though for me it did not work, a lot of people report it working for them. Until now it wasn’t known that the same could be done for windowed mode, meaning users with high end PC running the game windowed were doomed to experience GPU crashes or even worse component death. Now however, a fix has been discovered.

But why would I want to run windowed then?

In full screen mode, game is rendered way darker, which is why EA just lazily slapped on a brightness filter, which makes the whole game brighter than it actually should be. This also means that screenshots of the game taken in full screen (unless they are taken with in-game screenshot feature, which is lower quality) are practically unusable since they are too dark.

When in full screen, the game goes out of memory faster, especially if you are alt tabbing (switching windows) a lot.

Ok, ok but how do I get rid of borders now?

That’s why this guide is here. For that you will need a third party borderless games application. You can find it here, but this will be detailed later in this step by step guide.

THE GUIDE

Before we start, if you want to have your games set up to run well, read trough and apply fixes from these guides:

They are all similar in nature but have their own additions to making the game run better. They are extremely helpful and effective. They even include guides on how to FPS limit the game in full screen if you want to keep playing the game that way. Also, be sure to read the last ( 7.) point in this guide as it is important and will determine if you even want to do this or not.

Now that that’s out of the way...

1. First thing to do is run the game and make sure that full screen is off. This is luckily easy to do. If it’s not off, turn it off in options:

2. Next, if you’ve applied FPS limit trough your graphic control application as advised by guides, make sure it’s disabled because it will interfere with this fix. 3. Once you are sure that it is disabled, get 3booter and FPSlimiter from this page: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=15585.0 (files in first two posts) 4. Open both .zip archives and extract all their contents to: - C:/Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin or -C:/Program Files x(86)/Origin Games/The Sims 3/Game/Bin or whatever your install location of the game is.

4.a. If your game version is 1.69 there is one more step here. Once the files are extracted, you will need to rename launcher like this: Sims3Launcher.exe to Launcher.exe And then download and extract this new launcher exe in the bin:

Rename it to Sims3Launcher.exe 5. Now that you have the fixes set up properly, you can run the game: - Trough 3booter.exe if you are on version 1.67 (feel free to make a shortcut) or - Trough new launcher, Sims3Launcher.exe, if you are on 1.69. Note that your shortcuts to game launcher will now point to this new launcher due to filename. If you want to use the old launcher, make a shortcut for Launcher.exe

6. BUT WAIT!!! What about that borderless thingy m’ bob? Well here comes that part of setting up windowed mode to look like it’s full screen. First you want to go to the link of the program, I’ll post it again for convenience: https://github.com/Codeusa/Borderless-Gaming/releases Then scroll down a bit and download this:

Once that’s downloaded, install it and run it, after you’ve ran the game in windowed mode. You will be greeted with this:

To have your game in borderless mode, add it to the list on the left by selecting your game name from the list. It will be the name of the last expansion you are running, with [TS3W] next to it ([TS3] if you haven’t installed FPS limiter on 1.69). After the game is selected, click the arrow

And your game will automatically turn into a full screen-like application. IMPORTANT!: DO NOT CLOSE borderless gaming app, only minimize it. It has to run at all times while your game is running or the game will stop being borderless. Make sure to set borderless gaming app to run on windows launch if you don’t want to bother reopening it every time you start your PC.

7. Final notes. (Still IMPORTANT) If you’ve gotten this far, congratulations, you are one patient simmer willing to put in effort to perfect your sims 3 game experience. Not everything can be perfect however, and there are some additional notes to take care of. - First, the FPS limiter program only limits the game to 30FPS. People who have had the game run at 60FPS might be disappointed by this. However the game already runs it’s animations at only 30FPS so there is no need for additional frames. However it’s still you choice. If you do see a difference with 60FPS and don’t want to change it, you can still run the game full screen with 60FPS graphics control limiter. -Second, if you are NOT experiencing FPS higher than 60 in any part of the game (even load screens and main menu), there is no need to install this fix. However be vary that whenever you change hardware, especially GPU, you might need to take care of this. -Third and final, as a side note, there is a program that lets you unpark your CPU cores for that final addition of sims 3 smooth experience. In contrast to some others in the ruling elite, Breha and Bail Organa break the mold because they are equally committed to their own people and to the trials and tribulations of the wider galaxy. During the Imperial era, Bail and Breha secretly organize many rebel cells into a unified Alliance, recruiting them with the help of agents known as “Fulcrum�� or inviting potential allies to banquets at their palace. Breha is also in charge of her planet’s finances and secretly funnels money to the various rebel cells and sends aid to any planets suffering under Imperial rule. Their tireless work to organize and fund the groups that will become the Rebel Alliance is critical to their future victories. Though they are killed when the Empire destroys Alderaan, Bail and Breha’s rebellious spirit lives on in Leia. Statues are erected in their honor after their passing, but the Rebel Alliance they helped build and Leia are their lasting legacies.

Late last week, the RIAA sent a legal threat to Github, claiming that the popular (and absolutely lawful) tool youtube-dl (which allows users to download Youtube videos for offline viewing, editing and archiving) violated Section 1201 of the #DMCA.

Even by the heavy-handed standards of the RIAA - a monopolist's "association" dominated by only three members - this was extraordinary. The law in question derives much of its efficacy from its vagueness, which chills software developers from risking its severe penalties.

DMCA1201 is an "anti-circumvention" law, banning the distribution of tools that bypass "effective means of access control" for copyrighted work, with a $500k fine and a 5-year sentence for a first violation.

Thus 1201 gives companies the power to felonize any action, even lawful ones. All you need to do is design a product so that using it in ways that you dislike requires bypassing "access controls" and presto! Your preferences are laws - "Felony contempt of business-model."

That's how Apple makes it a crime for me to write an app and sell it to you for your Iphone without giving Apple 30% of the purchase price. It's how Medtronic makes it a crime to fix its ventilators. It's how HP makes it a crime to refill a printer cartridge.

For all its centrality to modern commerce, 1201 has seen precious few cases litigated to judgment, so its contours remain fuzzy. That works to companies' advantage. They know that risk-averse competitors, security researchers and investors steer wide to avoid violating it.

Who wants to risk a wrong guess about the lawfulness of your activities that can land you in prison for 5 years?

There have been moments when the RIAA's rage brought us close to litigating key features of 1201, but cooler heads prevailed and they surrendered rather than putting their theories in front of a judge and risking a narrowing of 1201.

In threatening youtube-dl, RIAA is risking a lot. Like what is an "effective means of access control"? There's an argument that goes, "If I can bypass it, how was it 'effective'?" That was tried in the 2600 case over Decss, and it didn't fly.

But while the courts were reluctant to decide how stout an access control must be to acquire statutory protection, they were unsympathetic to the arguments of the defunct file-sharing tool Aimster, which used Pig Latin to "encrypt" its filenames.

They argued that RIAA enforcers violated 1201 by "decrypting" them. This was quickly dismissed by courts, putting a floor under what "effective" means: "stronger than Pig Latin, weaker than Decss."

The "access controls" that youtube-dl bypasses are (AFAIK) somewhere within those two bounds - basically a lot of obfuscation, but not encryption. If this goes to trial, "obfuscation" methods could end up being fair game for circumvention.

The other thorny question RIAA is raising here is standing - they're arguing that since some of their members' works are restricted by Google's access controls, then they have the right to sue over circumvention, even if Google doesn't mind.

If this question is ruled on, then it could go badly for RIAA irrespective of the ruling. If the court rules that only the creator of an access-control can invoke DMCA 1201, the list of potential aggressors under 1201 dwindles to a mere handful.

If the court rules that the RIAA DOES have standing, then that means that every single rightsholder whose works are implicated by an access control would ALSO have standing.

If the day comes that the RIAA's members want to break with a Big Tech music company (like Youtube, say!), and authorize their customers to jailbreak their music and take it with them to a rival service, any other rightsholder with a file on Youtube could stop this.

Indeed, under this theory, there may be no way of EVER authorizing a circumvention - you'd need cooperation from every implicated rightsholder and the access-control's creator. The RIAA's members strongly value their own self-determination and this could really hurt them.

Will this go to trial? It's hard to say. Certainly, the RIAA has firehosed around so many complaints that they've created a cohort of potential defendants who might be willing to take their chances in court.

As Torrentfreak reports, before hitting Github, RIAA sent out notices in Germany - to Uberspace (the youtube-dl project's host) and to former project maintainer Philipp Hagemeister (no longer involved).

And Natfriedman, Github's CEO, joined the developers' IRC channel to offer support (he told Torrentfreak, "We want to help the youtube-dl maintainers defeat the DMCA claim so that we can restore the repo").

The notice seems to have radicalized the company: "We are thinking about how GitHub can proactively help developers in more DMCA cases going forward, and take a more active role in reforming/repealing 1201."

Interestingly, Github's owner, Microsoft, is an RIAA member.

In the meantime, copies of the youtube-dl sourcecode have proliferated as developers and activists have mirrored it in protest of the RIAA's heavy hand.

DMCA 1201 is unconstitutional: that's an argument EFF is making in its lawsuit on behalf of Matthew Green and Andrew "bunnie" Huang, which seeks to overturn the law.

A legal reckoning over 1201 is long overdue, thanks to the tactical cowardice of RIAA, which has run from the victims that stood up to its bullying rather than risking a day in court and the law's judicial overturn. EFF's suit has been slow going, plagued by long delays.

It's never good to be on the receiving end of legal threats from wealthy, powerful, connected industry groups. But here might be a case that finally drives a stake through 1201's heart. It's not a silver lining, but at least it's something.

Pretty much everything was little fixes this week. Nothing hugely significant, but check the changelog if you have been waiting on something.

The e621 parser now pulls 'lore' tags, which seems to be some new 'canonical' tag. I have put them in 'lore' namespace, so you can exclude them easily if you want. One user suggested they are useful for certain blacklists.

For advanced users, I added a 'sorter' to string processing. It has a neat thing where you can sort by a regex'd substring of the main string. I was happy about this, but then I realised this morning that it is only half of the job I wanted to do. I will add a String Slicer next week so you can just sample the first item or the last three items or whatever you like, once you have your sort figured out.

new string processing sort step (for advanced users):

the string processing UI is still built around single string processing, so the test UI here is essentially non-functional, but you can see the sort happen in the formula test parse panel

A thing I wanted to move forward this week, the network improvements, just got lost in the mix, fugg. I also fell way behind on some messages. I think I may simply be ill. Not the coof, and I am not dying or anything, but I'm a little low productivity at the moment. No worries, I'll make sure to rest enough and get back to it. Otherwise, I want to get this String Slicer sorted. Since network improvements are proving such a problem to break up and fold into 'normal' work, I may end up scheduling several weeks over March/April to do it in one go so I can move on multiple local file services, we'll see.

This topic shows how to create a business process flow with Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises). To learn more about why you use business process flows, see Business process flows overview. For information on creating a mobile task flow, see Create a mobile task flow.

When a user starts a business process flow, the stages and steps of the process are displayed in the process bar at the top of a form:

Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises) comes with several ready-to-use business process flows for common business scenarios. Add them to your system and use as is, or modify them to fit your business needs. To find out how to add ready-to-use business process flows, see Add ready-to-use business processes.

Create a business process flow

Make sure that you have the System Administrator or System Customizer security role or equivalent permissions.

Open solution explorer.

On the left navigation pane, select Processes.

On the Actions toolbar, select New.

In the Create Process dialog box, complete the required fields:

Enter a process name. The name of the process doesn’t need to be unique, but it should be meaningful for people who need to choose a process. You can change this later.

In the Category list, select Business Process Flow.

You cannot change the category after you create the process.

In the Entity list, select the entity you want to base the process on.

The entity you select affects the fields available for steps that can be added to the first stage of the process flow. If you don’t find the entity you want, make sure the entity has the Business process flows (fields will be created) option set in the entity definition. You cannot change this after you save the process.

Choose OK.

The new process is created, and the business process flow designer opens with a single stage already created for you.

Add stages. If your users will progress from one business stage to another in the process:

Drag a Stage component from the Components tab and drop it on a + sign in the designer.

To set the properties for a stage, select the stage, and then set the properties in the Properties tab on the right side of the screen:

Enter a display name.

If desired, select a category for the stage. The category (such as Qualify or Develop) appears as a chevron in the process bar.

When you're done changing properties, select the Apply button.

Add steps to a stage. To see the steps in a stage, select Details in the lower-right corner of the stage. To add more steps:

Drag the Step component to the stage from the Components tab.

Select the step, and then set properties in the Properties tab:

Enter a display name for the step.

If you want users to enter data to complete a step, select the appropriate field from the drop-down list.

Select Required if people must fill in the field to complete the step before moving to the next stage of the process.

Select Apply when you're done.

Add a branch (condition) to the process. To add a branching condition:

Drag the Condition component from the Components tab to a + sign between two stages.

Select the condition, and then set properties in the Properties tab. For more information on branching properties, see Enhance business process flows with branching. When you're finished setting properties for the condition, select Apply.

Add a workflow. To invoke a workflow:

Drag a Workflow component from the Components tab to a stage or to the Global Workflow item in the designer. Which one you add it to depends on the following:

Drag it to a stage when you want to trigger the workflow on entry or exit of the stage. The workflow component must be based on the same primary entity as the stage.

Drag it to the Global Workflow item when you want to trigger the workflow when the process is activated or when the process is archived (when the status changes to Completed or Abandoned). The workflow component must be based on the same primary entity as the process.

Select the workflow, and then set properties in the Properties tab:

Enter a display name.

Select when the workflow should be triggered.

Search for an existing on-demand active workflow that matches the stage entity or create a new workflow by selecting New.

Select Apply when you're done.

To validate the business process flow, select Validate on the action bar.

To save the process as a draft while you continue to work on it, select Save in the action bar.

Important

As long as a process is a draft, people won’t be able to use it.

To activate the process and make it available to your team, select Activate on the action bar.

To provide control over who can create, read, update, or delete the business process flow instance, select Edit Security Roles on the command bar of the designer. For example, for service-related processes, you could provide full access for customer service reps to change the business process flow instance, but provide read-only access to the instance for sales reps so they can monitor post-sales activities for their customers.

In the Security Roles screen, select the name of a role to open the security role information page. Select the Business Process Flows tab, and then assign appropriate privileges on the business process flow for a security role.

Note

The System Administrator and System Customizer security roles have access to new business process flows by default.

Specify privileges by selecting the appropriate radio buttons, and click Save. For more information about privileges, see Business process flow privileges.

Next, don't forget to assign the security role to appropriate users in your organization.

Tip

Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you work on your task flow in the designer window:

To take a snapshot of everything in the business process flow window, select Snapshot on the action bar. This is useful, for example, if you want to share and get comments on the process from a team member.

Use the mini-map to navigate quickly to different parts of the process. This is useful when you have a complicated process that scrolls off the screen.

To add a description for the business process, select Details under the process name in the left corner of the business process flow window. You can use up to 2000 characters.

Edit a business process flow

To edit business process flows, open solution explorer, select Processes, and then select the Business Process Flow from the list of processes that you want to edit.

When you select the name of the business process flow you want to edit from the list of processes, it opens in the designer, where you can make any updates you want. Expand Details under the name of the process to rename it or add a description, and view additional information.

You can add or change the following properties of a stage:

Stage Name

Entity. You can change the entity for any stage except the first one.

Stage Category. A category lets you group stages by a type of action. It is useful for reports that will group records by the stage they are in. The options for the stage category come from the Stage Category global option set. You can add additional options to this global option set and change the labels of existing options if you want. You can also delete these options if you wish, but we recommend that you keep the existing options. You won’t be able to add the exact same option back if you delete it. If you don’t want them to be used, change the label to ”Do not use”.

Relationship. Enter a relationship when the preceding stage in the process is based on a different entity. For the stage currently being defined, choose Select relationships to identify a relationship to use when moving between the two stages. It is recommended you select a relationship for the following benefits:

Relationships often have attribute maps defined that automatically carry over data between records, minimizing data entry.

When you select Next Stage on the process bar for a record, any records that use the relationship will be listed in the process flow, thereby promoting reuse of records in the process. In addition, you can use workflows to automate creation of records so that the user simply selects it instead of creating one to further streamline the process.

To make a business process flow available for people to use, you must order the process flow, activate it, and specify business process flow privileges for a security role and then assign the security role to appropriate users.

Set Process Flow Order When you have more than one business process flow for an entity (record type), you’ll need to set which process is automatically assigned to new records.. In the command bar, select Order Process Flow. For new records or records that do not already have a process flow associated with them, the first business process flow that a user has access to is the one that will be used.

Activate Before anyone can use the business process flow, you must activate it. In the command bar, select Activate. After you confirm the activation, the business process flow is ready to use. If a business process flow has errors, you will not be able to activate it until the errors are corrected.

Edit Security Roles Users have access to a business process flow depending on the privilege defined on the business process flow in the security role assigned to the user.

By default, only the System Administrator and System Customizer security roles can access a new business process flow.

Next, the Action Step is added to Contoso’s opportunity business process flow. Then the process flow is validated and updated.

Now, members of Contoso’s salesforce can kick-off the action from the Opportunity Qualify business process step, on demand, by selecting Execute.

To be able to execute an action or workflow on demand, the business process flow must include an Action Step. If the Action Step runs a workflow, the workflow must be configured to run on demand.

The entity associated with the action or workflow must be the same as the entity associated with the business process flow.

Limitation of using Action Steps in a business process flow

Actions are not available as Action Steps if the input or output parameters are Entity, EntityCollection, or OptionSet (Picklist) types. Actions with more than one EntityReference output parameter or any number of EntityReference input parameters are not available as Action Steps. Actions not associated with a primary entity (global action) are not available as Action Steps.
