I highly recommend this book. Tonight, I watched the documentary “Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel.” A look at the life and work of the influential fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar, Diana Vreeland. She wasn’t just a tastemaker, she created the whole idea of tastemaking. She was the oracle of style, a woman who defined the way we looked at couture. Gente con ganas

Abro el ordenador una noche que no sé con qué ocupar mis ojos mientras ceno, y veo que Netflix, en sus destacados me ofrece Shirkers, veo cuatro fotogramas del trailer y oigo la primera frase de la protagonista “when i was 18, the thing i wanted the most, was to make a movie”. Sin pensármelo le doy al play. Sin dudar ni un segundo. Y qué m a r a v i l l a. Es inspiración en todo momento. Shirkers, la película robada nos cuenta la historia de Sandi Tan, Jasmine Ng y Sophie Siddique, unas amigas adolescentes que ponen todo su corazón en hacer una película de lo más innovadora en un singular Singapur de 1992. Pero digamos que se encuentran con algunas piedras en el camino, y con un tal Georges Cardona, un colaborador americano que desaparece con todas las cintas. Todo su preciado trabajo. En este film podréis ver escenas de la película desaparecida. Escenarios con una esencia única, fotogramas con una belleza indescriptible, y unos personajes representados por gente muy particular. Y todo esto grabado con una 16mm. También aparecen el grupo de amigas hoy en día, contando como se sienten al descubrir las cintas y como recuerdan esos momentos de rodaje. En fin, una película que me motivó. Principalmente por el empeño de esas chicas tan jóvenes en hacer lo que de verdad les gusta, y las ganas que le ponen a todo. Y ayyy, te hace ver lo bonito que es el cine y la fotografía. Otra película-documental que también me ha gustado y que me ha parecido muy motivadora en lo que viene a ser “haz lo que de verdad te gusta en tu vida” es MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. La vida de la cantante M.I.A es muchísimo más interesante de lo que me esperaba, ya que a parte de cantante también es activista y una chica con principios. A demás, usa trozos de videos que ha ido grabando al largo de su vida ya que siempre le ha gustado filmar lo que pasa a su alrededor, cosa que le da un toque muy cercano y casero. En fin que me ha encantado, ¡súper recomendable! Espero que os hayan entrado ganas de ver mis sugerencias, ya que se nos presenta a gente real con ganas de hacer su propio camino sin importarles lo que les digan los demás y ambiciosas, desde un punto de vista muy próximo y que transmiten una motivación muy contagiosa.
