I retouched those portraits of Jotaro and Star Platinum that can be seen on the commission sheet! Here's the comparison between the original version and the new one.

A while back, I got inspired to try and make a Fire Emblem GBA portrait of my Phone Guy, Krasnyy, after helping a mutual of mine find some good resources to make sprites themselves (Not to name names but they made thier PFP to be in the FE portrait style and it looks cool).
And when I say make a Fire Emblem GBA portrait, I go all in; eye and mouth frames and all. I kept them within the hackboxes, but I have a hunch that my colour pallets were too broad.
It was a really fun process and only took a few hours.
The next day, I then decided to make a sprite for Several other characters, including Mike.
I made sprite sheets for several more, and the primray characters I referenced were Leila, Sonia, Eirika, and Vanessa, but mostly Leila for some of them, inlcluding Krasnyy's.
I think I managed to make my attempts at spriting look quite close to an actual FE portrait if I say so myself.
Mike's sprite sheet got the most touch-ups. After I finished the main portrait, I decided to modify it, then scale it up and re-make the entire thing from the scaled up version because I didn't like how small it was, then I made further modifications to the face, and I eventually wound up with something half decent.
This was not the only sprite that got that treatment.
If you're wondering what the spriting resources that I directed my mutual towards was, it's Klokinator's fire emblem repo. https://github.com/Klokinator/FE-Repo/tree/main/Portrait%20Repository

Portrait in pixel art style of my mascot, Maisba. Tried to use a style similar to GBA Fire Emblem artworks I've done in the past with a simple blinking animation.

Welcome to another Screenshot Saturday
This time I want to show off these GBA Fire Emblem styled portraits of made of 2 characters from Journeys and Jazz: The Fruits of the Gods.
They were a blast to make and getting them in game was rewarding. I hope to make more in the future.

Day 32
Oh no, it looks smug like this. It's based off the portraits from the GBA Fire Emblem games, but... wow, those are hard to pull off.
I'm not about to do Chrono Trigger like portraits—that needs actual skill. Or Final Fantasy style portraits. I just don't like those.
Portraits are hard, shading is hard. I think I should put off doing more portraits for something less... demanding? Yeah, portraits are lower priority for a while. Maybe. Tiles sound more relaxing and monster design is... intense on creativity.

Did a bit of a pixelart study of the fire emblem gba portrait style and decided to use my FFXIV boy Geras as practice! (Also limited myself to the colors in the game except for the hair)
This is what he looks like currently btw- he sparks joy in me

JUST FINISHED FE ECHOES!!!!! Here’s what i thought about it
IT’S SO GOOD ;____; ok where do i begin...
The first thing i like about it is the setting which feels more... authentic? More grounded? I don’t know how to describe it. At least it feels that way to me when comparing it to Fates which is basically victorian AU vs feudal japan AU and Awakening which is just eeeehhhh
Story is good too, not too many twists and kind of predictable but still managed to hold my interests until the end, maybe i’m still influenced by the fact i played this game right after i played the dumpster fire that is Revelations haha, but it really is good by comparison. Celica was being kind of a dummy tho but i’m not as mad as other people about it since the last chapter had tons of alm despairing moment which had me 👌 👌 👌 distracted👌 👌 👌
The music and art is AMAZING and i have no complaints. The cutscenes are kind of laughable and it bothers me that the cutscene images have the different style than the cover/portrait art but i can forgive that because the voice acting is AMAZING, seriously who did Alm’s voice, i wanna kiss him 😭 everyone else’s voices are amazing too, which is a nice change from Fates where the voice just pissed me off.
The battle took me some time getting used to, it’s really hard when you can’t pair units and also the miss rate has is significantly higher from what i’ve noticed (also thanks to no pairing mechanics now the pegasus knights are more useless than ever lmao) It was challenging enough, despite the simple maps. There are supports but i wish there were more... i know it’s better to have only the necessary ones than force every single characters to have supports with eachother but... just a little more... at least like Boey and Celica? Or Alm and Tobin. That’s probably my biggest gripe with this game.
Overall, i think this is my favorite fire emblem title in 3Ds! Probably won’t be replaying it for a while but i’ll think about this for Days. And since i don’t own a switch maybe i’ll start playing the older GBA titles, starting with Blazing Blade! (i want to see jaffar 😭)
Thanks for reading, have a nice day!
