Head empty, only thinking about Ultra Protective Big Brother Mario at all times and how ever since he was a literal baby who just learned to walk, his first, strongest instinct, as unthinking and instantaneous as a reflex, as breathing, has been to position himself in between Luigi and the slightest hint of danger with absolutely ZERO hesitation

so i read cyrano today. here's some parts i thought were funny in/out of context

cyrano's debut comes with bullying an actor he doesn't like offstage. two acts later he sends a band of musicians after him just to get them off his hands. he also tells them to tell this actor he sent them

and, of course, marmaladegate

#anyway i love cyrano lol #ive seen two different theater productions of it but this is the first time ive read it #anyway. ow. sad. but it's also very beautiful to me #cyrano #cyrano de bergerac #i didnt feel like taking pics of all the space travel methods but those were good. im fond of the magnet most of all i think #theres also bits like where he tells montfleury he's a full moon and after three claps he should eclipse himself #like if you're gonna be fatphobic at least be clever about it yk #plus i think it says more about cyrano's projection of his insecurities than anything else. kinda central idea to the play #i have no idea if these are funny out of context. it's a funny show though. i think seeing it really drives home the humor #kinda like seeing vs reading shakespeare. seeing the actors really breathes life into it #EDIT I FORGOT THE oh wait. an hour? psh PART THATS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. theyre so real for that tbh

"Allies or Enemies" by the Crane Wives

#song of the day #today class we will be discussing a tale of human suffering #so I mentioned yesterday how 'Slow Ride' by Foghat was the song of the day because of how the first ninety seconds were continuous-looping #alright yeah so now imagine me sitting shotgun as we drive half an hour to the movie theater #(to see Godzilla Minus One. it was bitchin I do very very recommend)#and the boys are discussing the latest construction along our highway #which has been a topic of great consideration for me actually #--I had a thought about erosion patterns and groundworks the other day and I went on a whole research spiral #downloaded some guy's doctoral research and all. we know how the research spirals go--#anyway this is a topic I would have loved to weigh in on!#but instead every mental width of band I had was dedicated to my subconscious' dogged insistence #that the assonance and emphasis and rhythm of 'are we allies or enemies' and 'slow ride / take it easy' were similar enough #that I should be able to find a way to match them up to one another's backings #so the boys were like 'Alexis what do you think of those pylons' and I was trying so so so hard to answer #(I think they're moving the I-95 interchange ramps entirely and adding a new lane over--y'all can't see me point. it's over there though)#I was trying so hard to answer but it was like a little cartoon man trying to climb up a rockslide #except the man is my answer about the bridges for the interstate ramps #and all the comically round rocks ponking off his forehead were different ways a person might be able to scrunch and/or stretch syllables #to fit the choruses of these two songs over one another. 'are we slow ride guitar sounds death of mee'#anyway yeah! I've got all these little focusing tricks painstakingly cultivated over three decades of ADD and living with little siblings #and now we know they can all every single one be absolutely obliterated by the lightest application of a single classic Foghat song

Me watching almost every single interesting/fun place in my town get closed down and bulldozed over just to build yet another fucking pawn shop

#when i was a kid there was a hugeee arcade/bowling alley within walking distance #but they closed it and just recently finished rebuilding it which got excited at first thinking theyd reopen #buuut it only turned out to become another storage unit space in the end 😢#even more infuriating is the old little movie theater near me closed down even after reaching their goal to refurbish it #AND ITS IN THE MIDDLE OF A NEIGHBORHOOD LIKE COME ONNNN #WHY DO I HAVE TO DRIVE 5 MILES OUT JUST TO SEE A MOVIE MANN #anybody who complains why younger ppl/kids dont go out anymore have no right #its cause theres nothing left man no kids gonna walk through an expressway just to watch a movie #small rant

Every time I remember the OG Pokémon anime is ending, I get worked the fuck again up y’all I was TEN MYSELF. I have BEEN THERE WITH ASH KETCHUM THE WHOLE TIME. ME AND THAT MOTHERFUCKER ARE THE SAME AGE.

I mean I’m mostly a TRio Stan BUT STILL. I AM LOSING THEM TOO. GAH. END OF AN ERA, MAN. 90% of my life has contained those characters.

Sitting here at Christmas lunch listening to The Wife's family repeatedly misgender her trans cousin while they fight amongst themselves about which of them is the least transphobic

It's always fun when I see those posts about not going to see xyz movie. I've been doing my part to make almost every single movie a commercial failure since I was born. With the exception of Finding Nemo.
