I never understood the concept of "doing taxes". Taxes are just there and you just pay them, like everytime you buy something it includes a tax you have no other choice but to pay it, what do you have to do?? (I live outside the USA)
Oh fun! I get to explain U.S. taxes!!
(disclaimer: if you're a young adult in America who will have to learn to do taxes soon, please don't take this as a reason to panic. It IS absurd and it is kinda stressful the first time you do it, but you get a handle on it, and filing services like FreeTaxUSA walk you through it and do all the math parts for you. [Though learning the math parts yourself is kinda smart if you want to understand what you're doing.])
(other disclaimer: I might have some details wrong because I'm a random blogger and not an accountant. Accountants don't maul me please.)
So it's true that tax is included when you buy something, but the whole "doing taxes" in America is about income tax.
My experience is with a company that does withholdings (god bless all you freelance workers figuring it all out for yourselves.) Withholdings means my company will estimate how much tax I should owe and take it out of each paycheck to give to the government. So from a $1,000 paycheck, they might withhold $300 to pay taxes with, and gives you the remaining $700.
But that might NOT be right. So in April every American has to go crunch all the numbers and figure out if they paid the right amount :) (chances are the answer is no).
We get a form called a W-2 (god bless, I only have one W-2 because I work just one full time job) which includes *adjust glasses*: employer's name, your info, your federal ID number, your social security number (partially redacted), your total wages, your federal income tax withheld, your social security tax withheld, your medicare tax withheld, your deferrals with things like 401k contributions, tips, dependent care benefits, STATE income tax withheld (my state has a 5% income tax, on top of the federal income tax) AAAAAAND other boxes I won't even bother with.
You feed this into software (like turbotax, which CHARGES you to do this, but I used FreeTaxUSA which had free federal filing and almost-free state filing) - RIGHT, you file federal and state SEPARATELY. And you owe/receive SEPARATE amounts.
America has tax brackets, which means you owe x% of money you make between--actually, lemme get the fucking chart
Tumblr media
fucking delightful.
So if you make $50,000, as a single filer, you owe 10% of the first $10,275, then you owe 12% of the next $31,500 (that's the amount between $10,275-$41,775, in the second row), then 22% of the remaining $8,225 (cough and then also state income tax if you have it cough). It's a little bit like filling up a thermometer, and the amount between each tick mark is what you owe x% of.
BUT WAIT. THERE'S DEDUCTIONS.
DEDUCTIONS are where most of the complexity comes from. Because there's like 1,000 random things that can give you a tax break. And there's also the standard deduction of $12,950.
What's the deduction? It's an amount of your income that qualifies as tax-exempt. So for the $50,000-earner, if they go with the standard deduction of $12,950, then only $37,050 of their income is taxable. So FORGET that calculation above, it's now 10% of the first $10,275, and 12% of the remaining $26,775
But if your itemized deduction is higher than your standard deduction, it's in your interest to calculate all your itemized deductions and use those, if they add up to more than $12,950
My itemized deductions were almost higher than the $12,950, between my state income tax contribution, property tax contribution, and mortgage interest payments. Other people might have a fuckton of other things--uh like dependents, business expenses, uh I'm not even sure since I skim past all the ones that don't apply to me.
OH, ALSO, THERE ARE OTHER FORMS YOU MIGHT HAVE TO PROVIDE BEYOND THE W-2. There are 1099-INT forms for interest made on bank accounts, 1099-DIV forms for money made from stock dividends, and others I don't even know about.
And all my knowledge and experiences comes as someone with relatively simple taxes by U.S. standards.
(The state taxes then have their own things and own deductions and whatever. They're usually kinda less complicated than federal, but they're a separate thing you have to file.)
And after you do all that, it figures out how much tax you SHOULD owe, how much you ACTUALLY paid, and tells you the difference that you owe/are owed.
I got back a decent amount of money in 2019 and 2020. 2021 was preeettty much even. 2022 I OWE a lot of money because, fuck it, I dunno.

I have coaching for self-concept, the void state shifting and everything related to law of assumption also affirmation tapes and these are powerful they work instantly and its price is different from the coaching because it's based on your needs - custom affirmation tapes
I have almost 9 places left for 9 people only for September 2023
and then idek if I will do that coaching again or not so take that chance I have a lot of knowledge!
And the amount of money you pay depends on the time I will be with you whatever it's a week - 2 weeks - 3 weeks or a month and it's a month maximum also it depends on how much effort I will put in this with you and it starts when we decide a specific date that we start on!!
The payment in crypto and I will give u all the info you need for u to pay without knowing anything about your personal info it's with your credit card but you will need an id with a verification to pay it
Finally the price starts with 100$ for a week but it mainly depends on ur needs so it can be less or more
Anything related to a specific person this will start with more than 200$ in crypto
If you are the type that gets hopeless about everything after that payment is done i will find a way to get you ur money back but i will take 40% from it for wasting my time with your hopelessness I want people who are willing to put in work not people who are just paying then doing nothing waiting for it to happen on its own YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING I AM TELLING U AND DOING IT AS I TELL YOU then it will happen on its own when u shift your mind PERIOD
And I don't manifest for anyone for money again it's coaching for u to do it on your own!
A little note* I already entered my void state I don't even need that money I made it for money because I really do my best and put all the things I learned in it with you it's like I am giving you my time for an amount of money that I really deserve for that time and these information I am telling you also for another reason I really respect my time and my effort and I love myself it's just for you to take me seriously and take everything we are doing seriously to just let you know where you went wrong in your journey and fix it together because it's your responsibility to fix it I am here to help you for that amount of money that's it! And for the last reason which is setting boundaries and having a healthy relationship in the way we talk to each other if I notice any disrespect more than once I will just take a percentage of your money because of that disrespectful behavior then give u the rest back!
Once you talk to me and ask for that coaching I am not playing around I am giving you everything you actually need I am letting you know where you went wrong and I really notice the way you talk in the conversation that we have for the first time asking u the right questions and I am doing this because I have a little bit of free time rn so I decided to make it publicly here today
I think I made this post very clear and I am really happy about it

After thinking about it for a while I decided to open writing commissions. Since the picture is of course too little to include all the rules and info, I decided to put them under the cut. Make sure you read the rules before commissioning me and thank you in advance to anyone who will give it a shot<3.
Languages: Italian (L1), English (L2)
Payment: PayPal only
Contacts:
Discord: _.razu
Instagram: _.razumairon
Tumblr: razumairon
Twitter: LuxLuciis (I’m not very active tho)
Telegram: Razumairon
If none of this contacts should work for you, DM me and we will discuss it together<3
Rules and general info:
As an author, I claim the right to reject a commission if the themes make me too uncomfortable or similar reasons. I listed what I generally don’t write but of course there isn’t enough space for all the themes that make and may make me uncomfortable. I generally have few triggers when it’s about fiction but talking about your intentions for your story is always the best solution<3
I generally write narrative texts, but I’m willing to write other kinds of text if so desired. Keep in mind that some kinds may be too difficult for me because I lack the skills: for example, I highly doubt I’d be able to write a scientific text or a poem because I don’t know the rules of those kinds of texts. As usual, the best option is talking.
Since I don’t have the same level of skill in the languages I made my work available in, English texts will be half the price.
The number of words can either be established (i. e. we can decide together how many words you want for your text or a maximum of words you want your text to have) or left totally free (i. e. you can allow me to write how much I need for your text to be complete). In the first case, I kindly ask you to pay the first half of your total before I start the work and the other half after I send the work to you. In the second case, I kindly ask you to pay a deposit (which has yet to be defined) that of course will be deducted from the final price.
Texts will be delivered in any file format you need (if I’m able to): PDF, Google Documents, Word etc
I’ll try to deliver your text as soon as possible but please remember that, like you, I’m a person with their own life, so I’ll do my best but I won’t be always efficient when it’s about time<3
Please be available for questions about your story and character, so that I can do the work in the most accurate way<3
Feel free to correct me once I completed your text (or in the making, if possible) if the characters are OOC or you feel like some narrative changes need to be done (or any kind of change. I’m usually very good at grammar but I can still type wrong or make mistakes accidentally).
I won’t send the whole text before finishing it but feel completely free to ask for sneak peaks<3
At this point, allow me to include some demonstration of my skills. I'll leave some texts for you to read, both in Italian and English (though I wrote way less in English than Italian). Don't mind too much the fact that the texts will be mostly fantasy and mostly fanfiction, you can commission me any genre you want<3 those are just a demonstration:
Quendar's adoption (Legend of Drizzt fanfiction; english; unfinished)
Friarielli (JoJo's Bizarre Adventures fanfiction; Italian; finished)
La partenza di Ristorias Arnero (D&D characters OS [La Squadra inspired]; Italian; unfinished)
Come Ristorias incontrò i suoi uomini (D&D characters OS [La Squadra inspired]; Italian; unfinished)
L'inizio della fine (Dragon Age fanfiction; Italian; unfinished)
If you have questions, my DMs are open! Thank you for paying attention, can’t wait to work with you guys<3

Hi Jen, I'm having constant problems with royalty statements from one small publisher- there are errors, sometimes huge ones. I have an agent, who either isn't reading the statements or not noticing? When I ask her about the problems she seems to send my emails straight to the the editor and then send me the editor's reply - she doesn't sort it out herself or say much to me. The editor is rude and dismissive, and I have to keep pushing to get the statements and payment corrected. I feel like my agent doesn't have my back and I'm having to fight battles myself, and it makes me miserable and frustrated. Maybe my agent would rather I annoy the publisher than her- so they'll keep working with her and just not me? Am I being a crazy author here? Am i expecting too much?
I'm really sorry this is happening, that is quite frustrating.
As an outsider here, and only getting part of the story, I don't know if your agent is being ineffectual and treating this as no biggie, or if perhaps they ARE asking questions/doing things that you just aren't seeing, or what. I also haven't seen the correspondence or know what the problem is, really, so I don't know if you are over-reacting, or they are under-reacting, or if the editor is just a mega-bitch, or you are confused, or WHAT -- like, it's just hard for me to say based on this limited info.
I CAN tell you, based on my experience, what you should expect:
First, I'll say that royalty statement mistakes can be quite hard to catch because often, it's not that the math is wrong at all -- the math is usually right based on the numbers that are THERE! Usually mistakes come because there is a number that ISN'T there -- an ISBN that isn't accounted for on the statement at all, or a subrights sale that hasn't been counted, or something like that -- and it's harder to see a mistake when it is INVISIBLE rather than a matter of mis-calculation.
I do take a look at all of the statements, and we have a royalty person who does deep dives on statements (though we have a lot of clients, and she can't possibly do a deep dive on every book from every publisher every statement period - she's more likely to take a given author's books and look at the past few years of statements at once, or if she finds a problem with a given publisher, take an exhaustive look at that publishers books, etc).
But often it IS the author who sees mistakes first -- because we are looking at hundreds of things, and you are looking at one thing, or a handful of things -- and that's fine, too! Often these mistakes are easy to fix/answer -- like they aren't actually mistakes, they are just things the author doesn't understand -- so they ask me, and I can answer. Sometimes, I don't know the answer -- then, of course, I have to ask the publisher -- which often does take the form of me forwarding your question to them, and them (hopefully) answering it.
Also: I pretty much always assume that a mistake is not due to some nefarious goings-on -- about 99% of the time, it's just... a mistake on their part, or a misunderstanding on our part. We point it out, and they fix it, or we ask a question, and they answer it. And we just keep an eye on possible future weirdnesses. When it gets problematic is if it obviously IS a mistake in your favor, and they WON'T fix it, or where there is a pattern of mistakes/underpaying that kind of thing.
All that said:
I don't think you are expecting too much to expect that your publisher give you correct statements and pay appropriately and to be understanding in their response to questions. Nor is it wrong of you to expect your agent to get information and try to answer questions and fix problems when they come up. That's like --a pretty frickin low bar, and it's not crazy for you to expect them to be able to hurdle it.
Personally, in most cases, I prefer to contact publishers myself rather than ask my author to do so, and if a publisher is underpaying or otherwise making major mistakes, I don't really give a god-damn if they LIKE me or not, they have to pay up -- it's MY money, too! Like, I'm going to be polite and profesh about it, but I can't really imagine being like "eh" about actual malfeasance or major issues.
IMO, you need to have a talk with your agent in which you say something like, "Hey, I have to be honest, these issues with royalties from this publisher are unnerving to me and I feel like you don't seem to be too concerned about it. Am I over-reacting and these really aren't problems? (And is it just me, or is the editor being kinda rude in her responses?) I'm not sure if I/we should be addressing issues in a different way, or what, but this feels like a pattern of rather major mistakes that are costing us both money [if that is the case], and it makes me nervous about continuing to work with this publisher. " (or something) -- basically take your agent's temperature about the whole thing. If they are reassuring, great. However, if YOU KNOW there is a really serious problem here, and they are dismissing it -- maybe you need a different agent.

Tohru Adachi's Babysitting Service
unfinished fanfic i mentioned before and never finished. has a bunch of plot holes imo and i honestly dont think i characterized futaba all that well.
Authors Note: ok realistically adachi would not do babysitting. but i wanted to smush him in scenarios that i think can be funny im basically an encanto fan when they were running out of things to say about the movie
also im not familiar with persona lore so if i get something wrong mb ig
And Adachi was let go.
After 10 grueling years of living in a crappy police jail, Adachi displayed perfect behavior enough to finally be let off. He said he'd promise to follow the rules of this world, and decided to move over to Tokyo for a fresh start.
Adachi couldn't get his previous job (obviously), so he'd had to begrudgingly work a minimum wage job that could possibly accept him for his criminal record. He mindlessly scrolled through the library computer, looking for any open position in a gas station or supermarket, one that would excuse his past behavior. But it looks like he wasn't too lucky.
He thought back to Narukami, feeling a bit grateful that he helped with the down payments of his first apartment, he felt really hopeful that Adachi would change his life for the better. He had suggested doing babysitting, as parents check through app reviews more than a background check. Although, one search of his name could easily reveal him as a murderer, but there was some probably some poor grandma out there who doesn't even know how to even use a basic search engine.
Adachi reluctantly thought of gravitating to that idea, he really didn't want to deal with kids. Even before the investigation team, the only kid he could tolerate was Nanako. Adachi sighed at the thought of Nanako, she probably knew by now what he did, and couldn't look at him the same anymore. But looks like it's water under the bridge for him now, him being in Tokyo gives him a chance to not be able to face her ever.
He pulled out his phone and started scrolling for Yu's contact.
_____
"Adachi-san, I would recommend you get a new phone, it's easier to keep track of your clients this way," Yu said as he continued to type in Adachi's info onto the screen.
"All you need in a phone is to call and message someone. I'm fine," Adachi replied.
Yu sighed at his response, knowing that he wasn't going to change his mind on the matter, "Well, I've set your profile up, everything should be perfect! You'll definitely get clients now."
"Yeah, thanks," Adachi muttered.
"You know… You might not think it, but I think you're really good with kids without realizing it," Yu smiles, "During the Grand Prix… It felt like you were an actual father figure to Sho… Haha."
"That kid just needed some sense knocked into him, I just used what you kids told me," Adachi replies, "I'm only doing this cause it's the only way I can get money."
Adachi sits up from his chair, "Alright, get out, I don't want you in my apartment anymore," He pushed Yu towards the door.
Yu couldn't help but paint a worried look on his face, thinking to himself that he should probably check on Adachi on his first client.
_________
Adachi had not gotten a client ever since that day.
He figured that most of the people that viewed his profile ended up searching his name and found out what he did, damn people for actually doing their research!
It's not like he'd just go ahead and throw some random kid in the TV, it wouldn't be fun in such an eventful city such as Tokyo anyways. It's not like they'd know that, though.
Adachi jumped at the sudden ring on his phone, and quickly swiped it off his bed to see an unknown number.
"Hello?"
"Uhh.. Adachi? Was it?"
He put on his fake cheery tone, "Yup! That's me!"
"Uh yeah, saw your profile, do you mind coming down right now and watching my kid? Oh, I'll pay extra for the short notice."
Well now he couldn't refuse, "Yeah sure thing, mind telling me your address?"
________
"Oh, welcome."
Adachi opened the door to see a short orange hair teen scramble off to the back of the counter immediately. He looked over to the counter to see a disheveled old man with an apron look disappointed at the sudden action.
"Uhh.. hey," Adachi said confusedly.
"Futaba, you're going to have to talk to him eventually."
"I'm fifteen already! I don't need a babysitter!" Futaba whispered loudly at him.
"Well, since Akira is gone, you really need better social skills to make more friends aside from the others..."
Oh great, a kid who's bad at communicating, this is definitely going to be hard.
"Don't worry, I'm not a scary guy," Adachi tried to reassure.
"I'm sure you aren't… Here, listen Adachi-san, I know you aren't a therapist or something, but I figured someone who's less professional than one could really help her with her social ability," The man explained to Adachi.
"Oh, uh.. sure. Yeah, no problem."
It is a problem.
"Alright, I'll be heading down to the store to grab some stuff, my names Sojiro if you need to save my contact," Sojiro said as he took the apron off.
Adachi watched as he left the counter and flipped the open sign to closed. He looked over the counter to see the girl hiding under it.
"Uhhh… Wanna see a magic trick?"
She didn't respond.
Well, he figured he could do it anyways, it always surprises kids. He prepared his hands to set up his illusion before he got interrupted by her.
"The coin's in your sleeve. I've seen it before."
What a pain in the ass.
"Hey, got you to talk!" He fake laughed.
Futaba scrunched up and turned away from him. Yeah, Sojiro wasn't kidding about bad social skills. He figured it was the age that teens get more rebellious and figure being unresponsive to people above them was cool, or something.
Adachi put his head down, annoyed by her actions. But he was getting paid extra, so might as well keep trying.
"You go to Shujin?" He asked.
"You killed people?"
Adachi's knees nearly gave out.
He stretched his body to look over the counter to see her have a tab open on her phone with his name.
"Listen, I'm clean. Served my time. I'm trying to make it better, I don't do that stuff anymore," He panicked.
"Well I hope so… These articles are from ten years ago."
Adachi definitely was not getting this client again.
"It's fine. I've met someone who's changed like you," she mumbled.
Okay. Do kids these days just have occasional encounters with murderers?
"Ahhh…" Adachi looked around, he really didn't want a bad relationship with his first client. He'd probably get a bad review.
The way this girl talked and moved reminded him of several kids he knew, something about being on the spectrum. He wasn't really too knowledgeable on that, just knowing they always had a specific fixation to the weirdest things. He racked his brain on something kids today would probably like.
"Do you like featherman?"
Futaba widened her eyes in surprise, looking over to Adachi.
Oh wow. That was a lucky guess.
Futaba couldn't help but spill out everything about her favorite parts of the show, her figure collection, just everything about featherman to Adachi. He didn't particularly find it annoying, he enjoyed the show when he was younger too, so at least he could insert himself into the conversation. Futaba had taken full control of the entire conversation, a complete 180 turn from how it was just a few minutes ago.
Adachi mentally let out a sigh of relief, recurring customer maybe?
"You know, I met the pink argus actress," Adachi bragged.
Futaba gaped, "Really?!"
"Yup, talked to her, didn't get her autograph though," he continued.
He really didn't want to admit he got his ass beat one time by her. But it looks like his little bragging session wasn't for nothing, as Futaba was completely interested in the conversation. He couldn't help but bring a small smile to his face as he managed to get this small girl to excitedly talk to a murderer this enthusiastically.
The two talked for a long while, before Sojiro came in and paid Adachi in cash. Futaba couldn't help but give off a wave as his back was turned, not going unnoticed by Sojiro. Adachi grinned as he counted the money in his hand, maybe this babysitting thing wasn't too awful. He decided to order takeout as a reward to himself, thinking he finally graduated from the shitty jail food he'd been eating for the last ten years.
_____
With a first five star review on his profile, Adachi had gotten more clients. His neighbor's (somehow) calm kid, a thirteen year old that just plugged his switch into his TV and never talked to him, and once even a baby. After that encounter, he decided to raise his age limit on what kids he'd take in. Never again.
He wondered if he'd get a call from Sojiro again, there was no way he'd decided that one social interaction like that was enough for that kid. Not like he wanted to see Futaba again. No way.
Adachi sat back in his chair, trying to work his new smartphone that he finally decided to buy. He figured he'd take Yu's advice on keeping better track of his clients and upgrade from a flip phone. He got startled when a familiar number suddenly appeared on his phone.
"Oh, Dojima-san!" He cringed at the small excitedness he heard in his tone.
"Adachi. Sorry I couldn't call earlier," Dojima replied.
Adachi stayed silent for a moment, not knowing how to respond to the sudden call. Sure, Dojima had visited many times before to check in on him, but Adachi immediately left when he got out, so Dojima never got to see him out.
"...How are you doing? Yu tells me you've gotten a job," Dojima said.
"Oh… haha… just a cashier, nothing too special," he nervously chuckles. He was not going to admit he's a babysitter now.
"That's good, that's good. It's great to see you're doing better, Nanako misses you, you know."
That makes Adachi's breath hitch, Nanako… missed him? After all he did, she still wanted to see him?
"Uh… that's nice. I think I'm getting an important call right now, I'll talk to you later Dojima-san," he hurriedly says before hanging up immediately. He sighs, still in surprise about Nanako.
____
Adachi had been called by Futaba this time.
"Don't worry, I asked Sojiro to pay you for this," Futaba stated.
"Uh, thanks," Adachi replied.
The two were at the mall, the electronics section. He couldn't help but walk up to the TVs and inspect them closely. He brought his hand up to the screen, wondering if his TV world powers still worked here. But all he was met with was the cold flat screen against his palm.
"I would expect an old dude like you to love TVs," Futaba teased.
Adachi gave her an annoyed look, "I'm only in my late 30s."
"Old!" She repeated.
Adachi scoffed, about to retort that statement before she interrupted him, "Anyways, I wanted to call you out here cuz there's this awesome deal at the mall! You get a free featherman keychain with any purchase of a phone case!"
"You really love that show, huh?" he laughed.
"Well… yeah… we did talk about how much I liked it…" She looked immediately dejected when he poked fun at her. Oops.
"I didn't say it was a bad thing," Adachi recovered.
The two walked over to the phone cases section, Adachi didn't have one yet, so he figured he'd buy one now since it was convenient. He gravitated towards the red one,  while Futaba immediately reached for a green one. He stretched his hand to reach it, and he noticed a couple of boys pointing and whispering at Futaba. They seemed to be constantly snickering, and Adachi assumed the worst. Oh god, he did not want to be reported for being close to a high schooler. He scooted over to the left, making it seem like he was here out of his own will, pretending to be satisfied with what he picked out and started walking away. Futaba looked confused at his sudden leave, having a slight twinge of disappointment on her face.
Adachi noticed, and immediately went to pull out his phone to text her.
ADACHI: Sorry. Those boys were making fun of you. I didn't want them to think you were fooling around with an older guy.
FUTABA: oh
FUTABA: THX
The two waited till the group of boys left, and Adachi returned to Futaba.
"Okay, let's check out, I don't think you wanna be here anymore," Adachi rushed her over to the cashier.
He made Futaba do her best to pay for own phone case, he was still helping her with social interaction after all. Although, he still had to help her out with most of the transaction. The cashier cooed about him being a nice dad and he cringed at the statement. Him? Dad? No.
The two of them walked out in silence, Futaba looking grim.
"It wasn't that bad. You're gonna be doing this more often," Adachi says as he pats her head.
"Uh, it's not that," Futaba looked down, "Those boys went to my school…"
It didn't take the detective in Adachi to immediately understand: Futaba was getting bullied. He figured if he pushed on it more, she'd probably not talk. He's dealt with this before when Nanako had a small bully. (In which he pretended to carelessly stick his foot out and trip her bully when he was on his daily patrol.)
"I get it," He didn't need to say any further, "I'll walk you home." It's the least I can do, he thinks.
___
As Adachi drops Futaba off, he waves goodbye with a small smile. He turns his back and hears the distant chatter of Futaba and Sojiro. He takes a step, and he hears Futaba's loud footsteps and the jingle of the door opening again.
"Adachi-san, do you want to eat with us?"
Adachi turns around, surprised at the sudden offer. Well, it's not like he's going to turn down a free home cooked meal. He excitedly agreed, and let himself into the cafe, not noticing the large grin on Futaba's face.
___
Adachi could not stop thinking about the curry he ate last night.
He's eaten a ton of home cooked meals before since Yu offered, but there was something about that curry that made him crave more and more. (Sorry Yu…)He felt the taste on his tongue, and it pissed him off that he probably had to wait till the next time Futaba called him to have that again. He rolled around his bed angrily, a bit mad that he felt this way over some old guy's curry. There was just something different when he reluctantly ate Yu's cooking when Yu would come to his apartment, and when he eagerly ate Sojiro's cooking with Futaba. It felt similar to when he would eat around Nanako and Dojima.
He sat up from the bed, irritated at the oncoming feelings he's gotten. He figures he can just walk it off to get rid of it.

Don't be SCAMMED this is important
Don't be SCAMMED this is important Have you ever received an email like this: "Dear Traders, Beware of . When you buy from them and send them money, you’ll never get your products and then suddenly can’t contact them anymore. Then they won't answer your emails or take your calls. Soon, you lose all your money. Please share this information with your customers." Or this: "It has been brought to our attention that there may be individuals operating in the marketplace impersonating in order to perpetuate fraud." You’d be surprised how often I get these emails. This next one is especially tricky because it could be legit, depending on your business. “The customer is willing to place a big order but needs sample units first and is not willing to pay for the samples upfront. This is going to be an issue because the sample units are going to be quite expensive.” Whatever your business and wherever you live, scam artists are out there, waiting to take advantage and siphon away your hard-earned revenue. They regularly change their alleged business names, aliases and even their scamming methods to avoid getting caught. But I’ve learned a few tricks in my years about spotting scam artists and I want to provide you with the knowledge and confidence you’ll need to remain scam-free. Below are some tools, tips and resources to help you curtail any future losses. Here are a few more common scams: You pay someone and then don’t receive anything. You buy AC adapters or batteries that turn out to be counterfeit. A product’s condition turns out to be misrepresented. For instance, you were promised Grade A or B, but what you got was junk. The deal you signed up for turns out to be significantly not-as-described. You try to remedy it with the seller but they stop answering your phone calls and responding to emails. Scammers often purchase a domain name similar to yours. They might even take your exact same name but use a .net, .org, or .us, instead of .com. A scam site might link its reviews to your site to make it seem legit. Then when customers Google your company, your reviews will come up. The customer feels comfortable even if the deals seem too good to be true, so they start placing orders on the fraudulent site. The scam site takes the order, but nothing ships out. Soon you start getting calls for order statuses you can’t locate. Read more details of the scam here. This next scam is the most popular one. You order all “Grade A,” “New,” or “Refurbished” products, but when they show up at your dock, they’re all wrong, or it’s all junk. I won’t say you should have gone out and inspected the products yourself, because I‘ve hand-tested each product in an order, then had the boxes swapped during shipping. I probably missed a few but if you come across any other scams, let me know so we can protect other traders. You might not have come across these issues yourself, but it could be worth your while to have some contacts and tools at your disposal when scoping out new customers and vendors. I also have more tricks in my E-book to help you circumvent cheating and get inspections performed on the cheap. The evolving scam Scam deals typically start with a phone call or email. Look closely at the email and the associated domains to get a sense of how serious the request is. Keep in mind, scam artists are going to be slippery. They love to use tricky domain names and fake social media accounts. They’ll even build websites to try to convince you they’re legit. When you talk on the phone with a possible scammer, it’s a good idea to jot down the number they called from. Reverse phone lookups and simple Google searches can help fill in missing information to verify a company. When determining if a buyer is safe or a scam, consider if their reviews are real or fake. Scamadviser.com is a good tool for assessing the risk of third-party websites. This tool saves you time authenticating domains. Scamadviser uses an algorithm to authenticate reviews, as well as determine if a website is legit or a front for phishing, and if a seller is peddling fake products. Two important things to consider here are 1) was the domain name registered recently? 2)how long until the domain name expires? Scammers are not going to register a domain name years in advance. Scam domains are usually registered recently. Next, look closer at the email. Does it have a signature, address, phone number, fax? Try to verify some of those details on your own. If they have Skype, WhatsApp or social media contacts, check them out and connect with them. Do those accounts look legit? When did the user last write a post? Use Google Maps to verify addresses, and zoom in using Street View to check out the building. Another verification hack I’ve found useful is calling neighboring businesses and asking about a business I’m suspicious of. How long have they been there? What type of unit are they in? Ask if trucks roll in and out of the location. You’d be surprised how much info people give out to strangers. Counterfeit products are another big problem in our industry — everything from batteries to AC adapters. Some of you probably know this a big problem and don't care because counterfeiting means cheap products. But counterfeit products can cause an end-user’s computer to fail, catch fire or worse, explode. Needless to say, this can lead to very high return rates for you and your resellers. Detecting counterfeit products or fakes can be difficult. RAM modules, hard drives, power adapters and batteries can be verified with the manufacturer, though it’s a time-consuming process. And checking with a manufacturer is really only feasible if you have a very specific need and must be 100% sure an item is legit. So here’s a quick hack to find out if your adapter or battery is legit. Get out a scale and weigh the original and the potential fake. The fake will always weigh less than the original. Here’s a video showing the obvious difference in weight. Payment time So you’re ready to pay and you’re feeling good about the deal. Now comes time to pay. I know what you’re going to say: wire transfer only. But I want to tell you that if the funds were obtained and transferred illegally, they can be reversed by your bank or the originating bank for up to one year. Wire transfers seem to be the favorite method for scammers these days. Good companies take credit cards and charge fees to do so. If a seller insists on wire-only, further investigation on your part is needed. There is too much material to go over in one blog post, but I go over ACH payments, Paypal and credit card payments scams in detail in my E-book (which I highly recommend reading because there is a lot to learn about ACH and the capabilities of reversals and chargebacks). Who can help me? Depending on the type of scam and the legalities of your county, state or country, I would contact a few agencies along with your local police. But first, I recommend consulting with your attorney to see what your options are. You must find a good attorney. If you need help finding an attorney anywhere in the globe, download my E-book. I’ll show you where to find them and how to keep them accountable as you track down buyers and sellers. Here are some other tools and processes you should put in place to avoid becoming a victim yourself. According to the Better Business Bureau’s investigative project Scam Studies, millions of people fall victim to scams each year. Take some time to check out the content there, which is very informative and should keep you updated on the latest scamming techniques. Also, check out the BBB’s Scam Tracker, where you can see all its reports. There are some methods to slow down a scam, but it will take hard work and it’s best to get ahead of the problem. So here are two tips to help make your online presence a little more bulletproof: Register all variations of your domain name — .net .org, .us, with dashes and without. Trademark your domain name. That way you can get the domain’s registrar to take down any infringing domains. I’m sure I missed a scam or two but I’ll leave you with a starting point and some additional links and search tools. Come back often because I’ll be updating this list and adding some content to make sure you’re aware of future cons. A Loan Won't Solve Your Money Woes If You Don't Fix These 10 Issues First
Sometimes even the best-prepared households get knocked sideways, financially speaking. Illness, unemployment, divorce, a car accident that triggers a lawsuit these and other situations can quickly put a hurt on the budget. In such times a personal loan or one of several types of home equity loans can provide a little breathing room until you rebuild your finances. As noted, money woes are sometimes the result of plain old bad luck (illness, job loss). However, sometimes were our own worst enemies: We buy too much, we save too little, we plan not at all. You cant get ahead that way. And you cant keep borrowing your way out of trouble. A loan wont help you unless you fix the following issues. 1. Not having a budget The simplest way to wind up in debt is to spend without thinking. Stop, then, and think for a moment about what you would like to have happen five years from now: buying a home, starting a business, getting married, traveling? When you create a budget, youre not just allocating your dollars youre enabling your dreams. An easy way to do it is the 50/30/20 budget: Spend no more than 50% of your take-home pay on essentials, 30% on wants, and 20% on saving (including retirement planning and an emergency fund). Plenty of budgeting apps exist as well (some are even free). 2. Not tracking spending You cant plug budget leaks unless you know where they are. Track your spending for a month, using pen and paper or a budgeting app. The cumulative effect could be eye-opening. For example, a relatives ex-husband was shocked shocked! to realize that spending $8 a day on fast food added up to $240 a month. His wife had made more money than he did, and their commingled finances made it easy for him to swipe a card and think no more of it. Heres hoping that your own habits arent quite that clueless. But even those of us who think were doing pretty well could be surprised by the cumulative impact of certain habits: beef jerky and a soda every time we pay for gasoline, daily iTunes downloads, $20 a week on scratch tickets. Add up the opportunity cost of those non-essentials, and ask yourself if you could do better. (Spoiler alert: You probably can.) 3. Keeping up with the Joneses Just because next-door neighbor bought the priciest riding mower on the market doesnt mean you have to ditch your trusty Snapper. When your coworker talks about all the activities her kid participates in, you dont have to sign your own tots up for horseback riding and soccer camp. You should not let other people determine your clothing, dcor, automobile, or anything else. Its no ones business that you bought a fixer-upper, that you drive your car until the wheels fall off, that your idea of nightlife is to read a new library book once the kids are in bed. Remember: The Joneses may be up to their hairlines in debt. They might be focused on keeping up, too with the minimum payments, that is. 4. Wanting your kids to have things you didnt Theres nothing wrong with this! Except when there is. Obviously you want your children to be well-fed, reasonably well-dressed, and housed comfortably. You might also want to give them treats and opportunities you never had, such as vacation trips, a big allowance, loads of extracurricular activities, and fully funded education plans. But dont let this noble impulse bust your budget. Just because your kid wants snowboarding lessons, a new smartphone every year, and a car of their own at age 16 doesnt mean you have to give these things. Staying out of debt and funding your retirement should take precedence over granting every whim. At the very least they should have some skin in the game: doing additional chores to help save up for a big-ticket item, say, or mowing lawns or babysitting for extra pocket money. Besides, we arent doing our kids any favors when we give them everything they want. Setting the bar too high now could mean setting them up for problems later on. Specifically, when they move out on their own theyll want to keep living in the style to which we have accustomed them and if their salaries dont allow for that, theyll wind up in debt. 5. Automatic upgrades Whats wrong with your old smartphone or car or whatever? If you bought it relatively recently and it still works, whats with the rush to replace? If you get the newest phone as soon as it comes out, or trade in your vehicle every few years, or replace anything else before it really needs replacing, ask yourself why. Because your co-workers do? Because some commercial made you want a new car? Because you dont know why, but you really, really want to anyway? Think about the opportunity cost of that cash. Then think about the way you want to live, and whether or not you want other people making decisions about your money. 6. Shopping mindlessly If you dont need anything, stay out of the mall. Going shopping with friends puts you in a position to find something you suddenly cant live without, or something that looks so cute on you or would be so cool in your house or so useful in the garage. Except that you were doing just fine without that item until you saw it. Ditto online shopping: Dont cruise your favorite retailers websites unless you have a specific reason to do so. Better yet, undo the one-click function and remove stored credit card info from all sites where youve shopped in the past. Bonus frugal points if you change your online passwords to something that has personal significance, such as WeDDingDAy8192020, or 19YEarsLEftonMORTgage, or EARLYretire2028 these little reminders of where your dollars could be going instead might help you from overbuying. 7. Always buying retail Why automatically pay full price? Instead of heading straight to the shopping center when you need (or want) something, consider these options instead: Thrift shops: Some are junky, but others are great. Its like a treasure hunt. (Pro tip: Find out if there are senior discounts or other special deals. For example, a secondhand store my daughter likes offers 50 percent off every Monday.)Consignment stores: Like thrift shops, except theyre more discriminating about whats accepted.Flash sales: While online shopping should be approached with caution, sometimes a sale really is too good to pass up. Hold yourself to limits, though: Just because those slacks are a great deal doesnt mean you need to buy a pair in every color.OfferUp, LetGo, Craigslist: Sometimes people want (or need) to get rid of furniture, tools, bikes or automobiles without the hassle of a yard sale. Caution is required, but you can get some darned good deals this way.Newspaper classified ads: Yes, really. A guy I know recently bought a pickup truck (necessary for his job) from a newspaper ad, spending many thousands less than he would have paid at a dealership.Freecyle: You might be surprised at whats being given away, no strings attached. Ive seen beautiful furniture, clothing, bicycles, toys, books, and other useful stuff offered up.Yard sales: Another treasure hunt. Ive seen items still in the shrink-wrap at these sales. Its a great place to buy baby stuff, including newborn-sized clothing that seems never to have been worn.Buy Nothing Facebook groups: Last month my partner and I just picked up an almost-new Weber grill. Some of the other things Ive seen lately: baby stuff, solid wood table, sewing machine, board games, computer desk, cookware, and tons of childrens clothes. All of it is free.8. Overdoing it on special occasions Are holidays and birthdays completely over the top? Maybe its time to tone it down. When they become extravaganzas of gift-giving, we cheapen the meaning and also set the bar higher and higher. A kid who gets tons of presents is unlikely to appreciate each one fully and more to the point, he develops a sense of entitlement. As for birthday parties, when did they start resembling mini-coronations? Even one-year-olds are having party rooms reserved, decorations put up, and gift registries established. Really? Think of all the money thats spent and quickly forgotten. Now think what those dollars could have done for a childs education fund or your own retirement. Celebrate joyously, but celebrate sensibly. 9. Overbuying for grandchildren While waiting in line at a crafts store, I met a woman who developed the bad habit of having small gifts waiting for her granddaughters whenever they visited and they visited a lot. The woman was fretting visibly as she looked over the items in the stores dollar section. What do you buy for someone who already has everything? she asked me. After hearing her story, I felt very sad not just for her but also for the kids. A visit to grandmas house had become an exercise in acquisition. The first thing they do upon crossing the threshold is to ask what theyre getting. (Does anyone else find that quite sad?) Expectations are made, not born. If youve gotten into the habit of treats and more treats, scale back. Replace them with activities and gifts of time. The kids who are used to getting stuff will gradually become used to not getting stuff and when occasionally you do treat them, it will mean a lot more. Again, the money you save could go toward their education funds or toward shoring up your own budget. You cant finance retirement. 10. Giving more than you can afford Charity is a noble impulse. But giving to the American Red Cross or the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals should be done after youve taken care of business. Specifically, after youve built an emergency fund, started saving for retirement, and taken care of any consumer debt. Put on your own oxygen mask first, financially speaking. How to Get Small Business Start-Up Loans Your Fast, Easy, Guide to Start-Up Funding A Quick Review of Your Best Options for Small Business Working Capital A huge challenge entrepreneurs face today is funding capital to start-up their business. Today's business has gone past the days when creativity and out-of-the-box thinking were major factors in determining the success of your start up. Over time, small businesses have been a key driving force for the economy. However, getting access to small business funding could be very hard and frustrating. A major cause for this is the problem of sourcing for funds from the wrong places. How do you source for funding your small business start-up? Unfortunately far too many start up entrepreneurs have to dig into their own pockets and family savings  to help jump start their new businesses. The passion and commitment for their new business venture quite often clouds their best judgement  when spending all of their life's savings on what may or may not be a viable idea. If you have ever watched the hit T.V show "Shark Tank" you will know what I am talking about. Unfortunately, many  of the shows would be entrepreneurs have gone on the show only to have "Mr Wonderful"  Kevin O'Leary have to explain to them the facts of life about the flaws in their strategy and / or the foolishness of their ways. Taking money from friends and family members has another drawback. If your business doesn't work out and you need to fold up shop, you still have to live with and face your family and friends for the rest of your life. Just imagine owing your mother-in-law for the rest of your life! Ouch!@%$^&*!   Just Kidding. Small Business Loans for Start-Up Capital The Small Business Administration (SBA)  is your best option when you do not have an ideal source of financing for your small business. The Small Business Administration (SBA) is an idea source of funding for small businesses as it has a special program which offers intending entrepreneurs micro loans up to $50,000. They are also great because they are usually associated with business training which will be especially helpful for you as a first time entrepreneur. There is a big misconception that SBA loan programs involve government grants, no-interest loans or free money. The fact is that SBA does not even make loans or lend funds directly to entrepreneurs. In order to get a SBA loan you will need to get a relationship with a loan officer at your local bank or credit union. Some loans are also provided through nonprofit financial intermediaries. Here are the SBA's three most popular loan programs: 7(a) Loan Program - As a small business owner (see SBA's definition of "small business" here), you can get up to $750,000 from your local lender, that is backed by a guarantee from the SBA. So the SBA does not actually lend out the money. They just make it less risky for a bank to lend you the money by assuming some of the risk. These loans are typically used for working capital, leasehold improvements, and asset purchases. All owners of a business with 20% or more of ownership are required to personally guarantee any loan they receive. There are several variations to the 7(a) program including a "Lowdoc" version. The "Lowdoc" loan application is just a one page form that the borrower fills out on one side and the lender's request to the SBA is on the other side. Typical response time from the SBA on a "Lowdoc" request can be as short as 36 hours. The eligibility for a SBA 7(a) program is the broadest of all of their programs but like anything with the government, it involves a lot of red tape and hoops to jump threw. If you would like to apply for a SBA loan or to just see if your business would be eligible click here. The 504 Loan Program is used for those small businesses intending to supply funds for asset purchases like equipment or land. Again you will need to go through your local bank to apply for the loan. When funded the SBA will guarantee up to 40% of the asset value with usually a max loan of one million. The borrower will still need to kick in 10% towards the equity. Eligibility for the 504 loan program like the 7(a) program is limited to small businesses with less than $7 million in assets and less than 2,.5 million in net income. The 504 loan program can be use in a number of ways including inventory, repaying debts, working capital or refinancing. Not to worry - the bank will still require your personal guarantee for the loan. SBA Microloans The third category of loan that the SBA offers is a "microloan". These are smaller loans going up to $50,000. personnal loan, small business loan, bank loanThese loans can be used for:    Needed working capital    fixtures or furniture    Equipment or new machinery    Supplies or inventory Unfortunately what you cannot do with a SBA microloan is to purchase real estate, or pay off any debts that you might have. Interest rates vary but maximum length of the term for the loan is six years. As with the other SBA loans, SBA does not issue the loans. You will need to go to your local bank for an application. Each lender has it's  own lending and credit requirements so shop around for the best options. For a list of intermediary microloan lenders click here. Don't Buy - Lease your Equipment Small businesses in some industries would need equipment to start-up their business. One great way to achieve this is by leasing equipment from a finance company. Equipment leases from finance companies are usually structured in such a way that the company buys equipment, and then rents it back to you for a monthly rental fee. When the lease term has ended, you would have an opportunity to buy the equipment from the finance company for a modest price Leasing equipment can have several advantages including:real estate funding, investor funding, real estate investor loans    lower monthly payments than with a loan    with leasing you get a fixed finance rate    there are tax advantages with leasing (consult your tax advisor)    lean start-ups can conserve capital vrs. a large down payment    you get instant access to the newest technology and business tools Leasing is not without its downsides however so weigh your pros and cons carefully. Read your lease agreement carefully. Understand your interest rate, terms of the lease etc. before signing. Here is the DEAL: Alternative Sources for Funding: If SBA funding doesn't work for you and your local traditional bank says no to your funding requests ( 50 - 70% of bank applicants get turned down)... ... then try the various companies that offer personal loans. A personal loan can help small businesses in a variety of ways including:    purchasing equipment    paying down credit card debt    cover unexpected expenses    easy and simple online application    Loans are unsecured and not tied to an asset    Fast funding - usually in 5 to 15 business days. Some of these companies include - Best if you have Little or No Credit History = Upstart Best Peer-to-Peer Lending = Lending Club Best for Low Fees = Sofi Best for start-up funding, lines of credit or Real Estate Investor Loans go to  Fund Me Bro Fund Me Bro provides loans for Real Estate, Transportation, Restaurants, Contractors and E Commerce.
