☀️ Late afternoon at Eunjang High...

The afternoon was muggy, the end of classes was approaching, and the movement in front of Eunjang High School went on as usual: noisy, routine, without any big surprises.

Except for one.

You were standing there, leaning next to the main gate, phone in hand, watching the students come and go. Your eyes, however, kept returning to the exit.

Normally, you weren’t the one coming here. It was Si Eun, your brother, who usually went to your school. But since you had gotten out earlier today, you decided to surprise him. Go to *his* school and wait for him. You were curious to see his reaction.

And you ended up drawing attention.

Across the street, three boys were chatting as they walked. It was Baku who noticed first.

He stopped and nodded with his chin.

— “Are you guys seeing what I’m seeing?”

Jun Tae followed his gaze.

— “There’s a girl standing at the gate.”Go Tak frowned.

— “She’s probably waiting for someone.”

Baku raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

— “First time I see a girl around here. And she doesn’t look lost.”

— “Think she’s waiting for someone from here?” — Jun Tae asked, more surprised than curious.

— “Could be someone’s girlfriend. Or sister.” — Go Tak said thoughtfully.

— “Either way, the guy’s lucky.” — Baku added.

While they commented, Si Eun appeared from the inner courtyard, calmly heading toward the exit. He passed by his friends, as he always did, giving a slight nod. But as soon as he saw you, he slowed his pace.He stopped for a moment. He didn’t look exactly surprised, but...curious. You didn’t show up here for no reason.You raised your hand in a small wave.

— “Si Eun,” — you called, with a serene smile, as if it were something usual.

— “What happened? Why are you here?”

— “I left class early,” you answered calmly. —“Thought I’d wait for you today.”

He let out a light sigh and moved to stand beside you.

— “Let’s go.”You started walking together.

Across the street, the three friends were watching the scene, stunned.

— “I’m really seeing this, right?” — Go Tak said, breaking the silence.

— “He knows her,” Jun Tae stated, still visibly surprised.

— “It seems like more than that…” — Baku murmured with a half-smile. — “The way he looked at her…”

Go Tak crossed his arms.

— “Think she’s… his girlfriend?”

Jun Tae’s eyes widened.

— “Si Eun... dating?”

Baku chuckled, shaking his head.

— “Hard to believe, but… who knows.”

— “There’s a first time for everything. Still, Si Eun doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would date anyone.” — Go Tak added.

☀️ The next day...

It was break time. The four of them were sitting near the court, where the sun hit hard, already announcing the weekend heat.

— “I’m gonna ask.” — Baku said, straight to the point.

Go Tak looked sideways at him.

— “Ask what?”— “About the girl from yesterday.”

He turned to Si Eun.

— “Who was she?”

— “She looked pretty comfortable,” Jun Tae commented. —“Talked to you like it was totally natural.”

Si Eun stared at his phone for a few seconds before answering calmly:

— “Because it is. She’s my sister.”

Silence fell instantly.

Jun Tae blinked, confused.

— “You have a sister?”

— “I do.”

— “What?! You two don’t look anything alike!” — Go Tak exclaimed.

— “She’s still my sister.” — Si Eun replied, in the same calm tone as always.

— “And you never said anything?” — Baku asked, almost offended.

— “There was never a reason.” — he answered simply. —“And no one ever asked.”

Go Tak leaned back on the bench, relaxing.

— “So, not a girlfriend.”There was a brief pause.

— “She seems nice.” — Jun Tae said sincerely.

— “She is.” — Si Eun replied. And for the first time, there was something softer in his tone. Almost unnoticeable, but it was there.

Baku was quiet for a few seconds before asking, with his usual relaxed smile:

— “So... do you think we could get to know her better someday?”

Si Eun looked at him. Not seriously, but attentively.

— “Maybe. But take it easy.”

— “Look, I can’t promise anything.” — Baku replied, in a playful tone.

Si Eun kept looking at him, just as he always did.

Go Tak smiled to the side, shaking his head.

— “Always his way…”

Baku laughed and ruffled Si Eun’s hair.

— “I told you not to mess with my hair.” — he said, staring at Baku.

— “Alright, alright.” — Baku replied, raising his hands in surrender.

📍 Meanwhile, somewhere else...

— "Huh? Why is my ear getting hot?" — you asked, looking in the mirror and seeing that it was not only hot, but also red, as if someone had hit it.

“Till didn’t care for Ivan“ “till doesn’t remember Ivan’s face because he never looked at him”NO. Till literally shown to have 70% affection for Ivan in the alnst art book meaning he saw Ivan as a close friend and in the comics on the alnst twt they are shown to hang out a lot and in one of them Ivan says he was the one playing with till that’s also show that they did spend a lot of time together.

Unlike sua who just stopped singing when Ivan sacrificed himself he tried to make it so till would hate him so he won’t be sad that Ivan is dead but even though till got annoyed by Ivan sometimes he still considered him a friend so Ivan’s death was still something traumatic for till and now probably when he thinks of Ivan the image of him getting killed probably is the first thing that comes to his mind and that’s why In the cure music sheet the drawing of Ivan is very unclear because till could only think about that image of Ivan’s last moments

Till didn’t like Ivan romantically or in the same way he likes mizi or in the same way Ivan liked him but he did like him as a friend and cared about him

Alien Stage is about love. Wiege solidifies that.

It's about the importance of that human connection of love. There tends to be a focus on the romantic love but when you step back and look at the series, Vivinos and Qmeng look beyond just romance. There is a spotlight on companionship. On how love manifests itself in other just as beautiful and just as important ways.

Weige shows us Luka gaining his first human connections with Hyuna and Hyunwoo, it shows us Hyuna gaining a family with the resistance, it shows us the Anakt Garden kids working and playing together, it shows us that mother feeding her children, it shows us those kids drawing on the glass between them, it shows us Mizi, Sua, Till, and Ivan spending time with each other. These are all examples of human connection, the love shared between each other that we take for granted.

What we seek out inherently, something displayed through the way Luka is alone after Hyuna escapes. The way his room has posters of her everywhere, how he stares at one and kisses it, he craves that connection to come back. And when he does see her again, he's the most human we've ever seen him be. His smile is genuine, there's color in his face, his heart monitor is red. He walks towards her completely ignoring the gun to his head because that connection is right there.

Because to love is to be human.

We're shown another world. One where the characters aren't in the Alien Stage, where they're free and happy. While they aren't with each other, except Luka and Hyuna, in these scenes they aren't alone either. Sua is laughing with a friend, a picture of someone on her phone case. You can see someone in the background as Mizi is smiling like she's doing an activity with others. Someone is in the foreground as Till draws, implying he's in an art class with others. Someone walks up to Ivan as he's reading a love note. Hyunwoo is riding a bike with another kid. Someone is taking pictures of two little figures together. Because even if you're not in a situation where a human connection is all you have, we still need it. We still want it. Its importance does not lessen.

And we carry those connections, that love with us even after someone is gone. Hyuna cries for Hyunwoo, she thinks about him and Luka even as she's with her family in the resistance because she still carries that love for them with her. Mizi weeps as she holds Till and remembers Sua because she still carries that love for them with her. It's something so deeply ingrained within us, so natural that we can never part with it. Because it makes us human.

The song itself is composed like a waltz, but the lyrics and the name tell you what it really is. It's a lullaby. In a story reliant on music to add even more detail to what it's presenting to its audience, the video most centered on love and human connection has a lullaby. One of the first pieces of music you hear after you're born. A piece of music often associated with the first human connection anyone has. One of the first times music is an expression of love. A mother singing to her child.

Hi hi again! I had another alien stage request, I was thinking of how the main four (+luka, but if that’s too many characters feel free to cut it down) all separately. Meeting an older gn!reader who had won alien stage in the past and got really popular over it. But after they won they went mostly mute and stop talking or singing from the trauma of winning. With that somehow the reader sees something in each of them and brings them out to talk again even if it’s for a short while.

Mizi

Mizi finds you in a quiet garden, hidden away from the flashing lights of the city. She plops down beside you, smiling like you’re old friends.

��You were my favorite,” she says. “Winning… was it scary?”

You don’t look at her, but after a long pause, you whisper—

“…It was lonely.”

Mizi’s smile softens. She doesn’t try to fill the silence, just scoots a little closer.

“Then I’ll stay here for a while,” she says. “So it’s not so lonely anymore.”

Sua sits beside you on the rooftop, legs swinging over the edge.

“They still talk about you,” she says. “Like a legend.”

You don’t react, but she knows you’re listening.

“They expect you to be something impossible,” she continues. “It’s exhausting, isn’t it?”

The wind carries your voice, barely there—

“…Do you regret it?”

Sua huffs out a quiet laugh. “No. Do you?”

You exhale, the tension in your shoulders easing just a little. You don’t answer, but you don’t need to.

Till finds you in an art studio, sitting in front of a blank canvas. He doesn’t ask why you’re here. Instead, he picks up his sketchbook and starts drawing.

Minutes pass, then an hour. Finally, he holds up the portrait—a rough sketch of you, quiet but alive.

You stare at it before murmuring—

“…It looks like me.”

Till nods. “Because it is.”

Your fingers brush against a paintbrush. For the first time in years, you pick it up.

Ivan slips away from an afterparty and finds you under the glow of a neon billboard.

“You’re real,” he says before he can stop himself.

You don’t reply. He exhales, rubbing his neck. “I used to want to be just like you.”

Silence. Then, so soft he almost misses it—

“…Don’t.”

Ivan stills. Something twists in his chest.

“…Okay,” he murmurs. For once, he doesn’t force a smile.

Luka seeks you out. Finds you in a quiet café, away from the world.

“I want to know what happens after winning,” he says.

You don’t answer at first. Then—

“…Nothing.”

His brows furrow. “Nothing?”

Finally, you meet his gaze. There’s something empty in your eyes.

“And that’s the worst part.”

Luka watches as you stand and walk away. For the first time in a long while, he feels cold.

AGGHH I deleted the original post I’m so saddd.

Anyways I wanted to talk abt this pic idk if it’s canon or just a non canon drawing but lets assume that it is significant for this analysis.

In this pic Till is wearing his R2 outfit, his mic headset and his mouth his open like he’s singing. This makes me think that he’s onstage in Round 2 singing his Unknown (Till the End) song. HOWEVER. While he’s singing this song the background is red with shooting star, meteors, debris whatever it is.

Doesn’t it remind you of something? My thoughts are that while Till was outwardly singing about his love for Mizi he was actually thinking about Ivan.

The thing abt Alien Stage is that everyone’s an unreliable narrator. In Round 1 everything seems like a sci-fi idol show until the ending where Sua dies. Then in Round 3 we are led to believe that Till never glanced at Ivan when that is in fact a lie and Till DID look at Ivan. Methinks Round 2 is also told by an unreliable narrator, only the thing that’s unreliable is Till himself. In Round 1 we are fed false info abt the type of world they live in. In Round 3 we are fed false info abt Till’s attitude towards Ivan. So in Round 2 I think we are being fed false info abt Till’s feelings.

Here’s something that always struck me as off. Here Till has just finished his “confession” but he doesn’t even acknowledge Mizi off stage. Usually after you confess to someone, you check for their reaction right? Onstage Till looked at Mizi after he smashed the guitar. But here when he is physically closer to her he doesn’t even attempt to look at her. Compared to Ivan who kept looking at Till even when he was being shot, and kept his eyes on him even as he died, turning to look at Mizi shouldn’t be too difficult.

Some of the lyrics of the song were also weird too (I’ll be using the Eng translations so some things maybe lost in translation)

First the line “I wanna know all about you” this line was weird bc how do you not know everything abt Mizi already? Mizi lived a very sheltered life, so she never had to build any walls to protect herself. If you wanted to know all abt Mizi you just had to look at her. She doesn’t hide anything at all, everything abt her can be found on the surface. It would’ve made more sense to say “I want you to know all about me” considering that Mizi isn’t aware of Till’s feelings.

Second is the line “How dare you think this time’s enough” this line is so… aggressive. Like I can’t imagine Till actually saying this to Mizi at all. Till is usually super shy and freezes up around Mizi. Could he actually say something so confrontational to her. I can’t imagine that all.

But I can imagine him saying that to Ivan.

“I want to know all about you” bc I spent so much time with you and I still don’t understand you and “How dare you think the time’s enough” when you don’t understand my feelings. You just assumed what I felt you don’t actually know how I feel about you.

(Till is actually the character I understand the least. This is just my imagination lol)

Another thing that makes me think Till was crying is this scene. (How does he look so pretty when in distress. Till I can’t you’re too endearing wth)

Here it looks like he’s sweating a lot but it also looks like there’s a tear slipping from his left eye. He even does a little sniffle which makes me think he was sobbing.

My theory is that Till was trying to tell himself a narrative in order to cope with his traumatic life. And the narrative he tells himself is that the only person he loves is Mizi and that the only person who can save him is Mizi. So while he’s onstage he sings abt his feelings for Mizi, but while he’s singing he accidentally also sings abt his feelings for Ivan.

Don’t you think it’s weird that Ivan doesn’t show up in the R2 flashbacks. Considering how often they were together growing up you’d think he’d at least me off to the side somewhere. I mean Sua was in the flashback but Ivan wasn’t? I think Till was intentionally suppressing his thoughts abt Ivan in order to make a point that he only loves Mizi. However bc the song can also apply to Ivan he inadvertently sings abt his love for Ivan and starts crying. That’s bc his love for Mizi is just a performance for the world and for himself.

In his personal narrative it is better to be the guy that loves the kind and gentle Mizi than the boy who is hopelessly entangled with the enigmatic Ivan. It hurts less that way. Till can look at Mizi at a distance bc she is like a bright light in his bleak world. But Till can’t look at Ivan because he is too bright, he fills up an entire sky with light and it haunts Till to this day. I remember reading somewhere that Till can’t escape from the red sky. The red sky could represent Till’s feelings for Ivan.

It’s where we see Till at his happiest.

It’s where we see Till the closest with another person.

As well as where he’s the most conflicted/scared.

Basically the picture of Till crying shows how he actually feels abt the meteor shower scene and how bc of his feelings for Ivan it haunts him even when he’s trying to sing abt someone else. He loves Ivan but he also can’t bare to be with Ivan. Maybe he realizes the self-destructive nature of their love. Maybe he knew it was dangerous for them to be in love in this world. Or maybe he was just to afraid of the pain and wanted to protect his heart in any way he could.

I don’t think we’ll ever get an answer. But I think that Till idolizing Mizi is just a fantasy he uses to cope with his awful life. And that bc his relationship with Ivan was uncanny and different from the love he received from his mom Io, he tries to reject even the thought of Ivan. Bc if he thinks abt Ivan too much he’ll unravel bc love is obsessive and all consuming. And Till def would have been consumed by his love for Ivan. It would have just been consumed by the aliens for entertainment. Their love is doomed no matter what he does. Might as well pretend it never existed maybe then it would hurt less.

Well I just thought that Apollo and Hermes would look cool if I use that frame from All In as ref 🩵 it's still rough though and has been rotting in my gallery for as long as I can remember but yea, don't quite think I have the motivation to finish most of my WIPs ATP(also because my art style still keeps changing since it hasn't been that long since I digitally started drawing)....😭🙏

But yea, on the topic of ALIEN STAGE, I ...

LOVE LOVE LOVE alien stage sm... @VIVINOS and @QMENG are absolute geniuses. When I first heard about this series and I heard about aliens and humans I thought it was going to be something really cliche but I was so surprised by how interested and int reading the premise was. The pet humans obey all the aliens and are there only for their sick entertainment. The pet humans rebelling against the aliens because they have the knowledge for it and they know that if Anakt was real, he would have helped them by now.... I love all of it and I wish we had more info about the characters....I absolutely adore ivantill and mizisua. But as surprising as it is I don't really hate Luka tbh...he's been abused and brain washed by heperu for too long to the point he thinks he's indebted to them...sure he gets off of other people's pain but he's also just a survivor of alien stage and a pet human at the end...

About the final round...hm... I was really upset but it makes sense honestly I don't think till stood a chance against Luka if all people is the only ever contestant who could ever rival him with votes and popularity was Ivan. But I was REALLY REALLY upset that till died after falling into Lukas mind fucking.... It's just shows how much she was haunted by Ivan's death ... But finally seeing Mizi and smiling for the first time after round six, he dies peacefully in her arms, joining Ivan and sua in a place hopefully better than Anakt Garden could ever be. Where there's no aliens, just a reunition if friends... But poor Mizi, Hyunas death is near and the only one left standing is her and fuckass Luka...

Round 7 left me with more questions and trauma then answers and closure in conclusion 😭🙏

some more random info abt this au under the read more ^_^ open at your own risk its a lot of yapping

till makes it his mission to expose the aliens (mostly ivan. he has personal beef with him) to the rest of humanity, but he's the boy who cried wolf. no one believes him because he's been talking about aliens and bigfoot and mothman and whatever nonstop all his life.

till loves the supernatural but also fears it. it consumes most of his waking thoughts. he doesn't like how quickly the aliens grow close to mizi out of a desire to protect her from the (presumed) threat. he's kinda like if dib invader zim was some gay art kid instead of like a supergenius

this threatening feeling comes from till assuming that ivan and sua are on earth for some kind of conquest and or abduction reasons. are they actually? who knows...

mizi is a bit of a hopeless romantic and finding out that sua was an alien only served to make her fall for her more. she could think of nothing more romantic than this scenario, actually. even till screaming danger at her cannot deter her from her love

ivan fights with till and riles him up because he finds how expressive he is utterly fascinating. he says its to "learn more about humans" but mostly he just wants till's attention. he himself doesn't know why he wants this attention, though.

sua and ivan experience a range of emotions in a similar way to humans, yet their species is discouraged from acting emotionally and isnt taught about what any of their feelings mean. all they know, at the start, is that these humans draw some kind of strange feelings out of them that they've never felt before.

(it sticks with the overall theming of alnst being about trying to understand exactly what love means.)

ivan and sua's earpieces are multipurpose tools. they're connected directly to the brain and can't be taken off. they can be used to generate their disguises (its a hologram type of thing), works as a translator so they can communicate with other alien species, etc.

what looks kind of like a nose on the aliens' faces is not a nose. their antennas are used as their olfactory system (they are also quite sensitive)

till is no longer crushing on mizi at this point in his life. sometime during middle school mizi came out to him as a lesbian and so he told her he liked her and it was a whole thing and they both cried. it ended up serving to strengthen their friendship. its been about 4 years-ish since then and theyre still inseparable

till works some kind of shitty service job part time, at which he met hyuna. she's like his cool older college friend and sort of older sister. he plays with her band sometimes

this takes place in who the fuck knows where midwest united states, and the humans are korean-american. till is first generation and usually speaks korean with his mom at home

it takes a while for till to first get a glimpse of ivan and sua's undisguised forms, though when he finally does something about them seems oddly familiar to him.

mizi sees sua's undisguised form long before till does. she does not tell him this

luka is an alien too. wonder what he's up to...

Hi! This is the same anon that asked you about Mizizua love-hate. As the new comic dropped... This adds a whole new layer to that doesn't it? Just... Gwaaaah! I can now see what aspect of Sua that Mizi might hate. I can relate to that resentment where it feels like they're on a suffering Olympics. The one who has a better home life, having no right to complain as your friend is suffering more than you and so you bottle it all in while feeling like they don't care about your suffering. And then she says stuff that cuts deep, Mizi might know Sua doesn't mean it the same way as the jerk who said it first but Mizi can't help but feel hurt anyway since it's from the girl she loves.

This also recontextualizes a lot of her other relationships, like why she's so fond of Ivan and has high intimacy towards him but he only goes up to 30% towards her - to her it may be just the right amount, she can be free to be affectionate around him while he will never take it the wrong way.

Or crack theory time: Luka looking like the creepo in the comics and how he behaved around Mizi in RomH may be triggering to Mizi and she beat him up in part because of her trauma with men.

Heck, Mizitil is a dynamic that deserves to be observed under a microscope. It's far more complex than I initially thought. Admiration is reciprocated to some degree but romance poisons it. Yet she wants to give Till a chance to be friends cause even when she rejected him point blank he was never violent with her?

I love Mizi. The girl of all time. Just gotta find a place to gush about her.

Hello again! Oh yeah for sure, it definitely adds more layers to Mizisua love-hate.

I do think it's important to note that Mizi didn't slap Sua as a conscious action — it was entirely reflex due to hurt. Though whether it draws from existing hate (no matter how small) is up to the individual's interpretation.

Still I don't blame either of them here.

No matter how much we care about someone, we can hurt them without meaning to. Whether it be a bitter comment, a careless response, a moment of anger, or just the wrong words at the wrong time. No matter how good your relationship is, those moments will exist because we're inherently human.

The world of Alnst only exacerbates it all. There's been a continual theme of "what you receive is what you're capable of giving." (ex. Till being able to love so genuinely bc of his mother, all Luka received was pain so that's all he knows/can inflict on others) The environment of Alnst has put all the pet humans through more than they ever should've endured and it resonates through their relationships in the form of hurting each other.

This is more of a personal belief but I think Mizi was only able to slap Sua there and then because it's now been introduced to her system as a way to react to hurt via what happened to her earlier.

Mizi's pain and the way she needs Sua (of all people, the only one) to see it and acknowledge it really parallels Ivan. She even inherits this specific line of his in Cure:

"Notice my pain, and mend me right now"

I don't think Mizi's bright smile and bubbly persona are faked. It's her most authentic self, and that's what makes it so powerful.

I just don't think she's allowed to drop it.

Even the most cheerful person we know in our lives isn't cheerful all the time. But she's internalized that she can't drop it, whether that be to better protect herself from a world she won't be able to bear, or for the sake of others and continuing to provide the same solace for them.

In this, her situation differs a little from Ivan, who wears a carefully constructed mask to hide a self he doesn't believe anyone can accept.

But they're the same in that they can't show the wounds they've accumulated inside, and suffer from the loneliness that comes with their pain not being acknowledged or seen. The natural reaction to that is to seek out the one person they trust to see, the one person they need to see them as they are.

"Notice my pain."

I've seen the "he resembles Luka to draw parallels for Mizi's trauma" theory a lot in the last 24 hours, and I mean, I think it's one of those it's up to you whether that's canon or not things.

I personally think it's just a coincidence because it's happened a lot in the past (ex. Ivan's resemblance to Acorn esp as a child) and the resemblance is almost entirely due to the quirks of the artstyle rather than intentional design choice (wherein it's only "wavy hair".)

Oh god Mizi and Till.

My hot take is that Till is actually the most important character in The True Face because his death is the one Mizi feels the most responsibility for and therefore the one for which her survivor's guilt manifests the strongest.

->ivan's ghost stayed around for R7 and witnesses till's loss and mizi's appearance. it's then and there where ivan decides that there's no need for him anymore.

->till is reborn with his memories intact and meets ivan again and slowly falls in love w/ him throughout their childhood

->ivan also falls in love. they start dating in high school when till confesses with a love song written for them.

->in college, ivan has his first dream. a meteor shower, bright red, and till's younger self. it's blurry, and doesn't make sense. however, as time progresses, he's able to piece it all together.

->it inevitably comes to a point where till unintentionally does something that forces ivan remember it all at once. till doesn't realize.

->ivan doubts. he doubts the songs, the flowers, the drawings, the sweet nothings whispered in ears and told dotingly; when mizi shows up, won't it all wash away into a blank slate?

->eventually, they make up, and till asks for ivan to marry him so that they'd never be separated again.

->and, when they do meet mizi and sua again, till doesn't grant them a second glance because all his attention is on ivan.
