Two years ago today I did my first real photo shoot... she was also my first bridal shoot... so I had this idea 💡: take some photos just for hubby as well, get his favorite shirt and socks, and we’ll try something... she was game... all I had to do was execute... 🤦🏽‍♀️... nervous af... but we did it!!! ... This was my first shoot for my major project - I took some inspiration from Gregg Segal and I collected some of my own rubbish. I started in a chaotic and messy way with all the rubbish in a jumble. I wasn’t happy with how they were turning out, so I decided to stand everything up to make it look neater. I was still not happy with the turn out so I decided to organise it completely and lay it out in an orderly manner like Barry Rosenthal’s Found in Nature project.

I did use a range of rubbish including glass, plastic, and compost. This may be where it first went wrong - I’m not sure if I like the combination of fresh rubbish and hard rubbish. Also, as discussed in my second tutorial, I should steer clear from shiny rubbish like coke cans as they normally take control of the image. 

I’m not sure what I was expecting from this shoot but it turned out to be very boring, far too messy - I prefer more of a clean aesthetic, I'm also not a fan of the classic still life imagery. 

With all this in mind, for my next shoot I want to do something beyond the classic still life and beyond the photograph itself.  It’s going to be fairly similar (still life) but with a bit of a twist. I want to create something from the rubbish that people (society) tend to see as beautiful. The obvious option for me is a bunch of flowers.
