I attended Apple+ x Deadline's craft event honouring production design teams for the limited series FIVE DAYS AT MEMORIAL, and the series SILO, FOUNDATION and TED LASSO.

He was so great. He's somewhat sounds like Pete Davidson and speaks with the same cadence, but slightly looks like TJ Miller and he's self-deprecating and humourous. After the event the panelists were at the reception and someone told him how funny he was and he said it was to mask his nerves.

When asked what he would miss about the show he said he would miss watching it at 2am, as he tried to come up with the actual day of the show because was it Tuesday, or technically Wednesday? He would miss the wrap parties; and will miss the grace which was shown to everyone. He said there were no a**holes and he hopes to take that grace with him on other projects.

-No matter how much I love a show, I cannot go back and do a full rewatch of an episode. Instead I will rewatch certain scenes. I rewatched the scene in "(I Don't Want to Go To) Chelsea" where Ted asks Roy to squash his beef with Trent. I love that series 1 Ted didn't push Roy to rein in Jamie; instead he wanted him to make that decision. Series 2 Ted didn't intervene when Nate's ego got out of control. But seeing Roy turn the team against Trent was a bridge too far for Ted.

Ted's eyes when pleading with Roy to "Fix it" was just this.

If the past five years of EU tech rules could take human form, they would embody Thierry Breton. The bombastic commissioner, with his swoop of white hair, became the public face of Brussels’ irritation with American tech giants, touring Silicon Valley last summer to personally remind the industry of looming regulatory deadlines.

Combative and outspoken, Breton warned that Apple had spent too long “squeezing” other companies out of the market. In a case against TikTok, he emphasized, “our children are not guinea pigs for social media.”

His confrontational attitude to the CEOs themselves was visible in his posts on X. In the lead-up to Musk’s interview with Donald Trump, Breton posted a vague but threatening letter on his account reminding Musk there would be consequences if he used his platform to amplify “harmful content.” Last year, he published a photo with Mark Zuckerberg, declaring a new EU motto of “move fast to fix things”—a jibe at the notorious early Facebook slogan. And in a 2023 meeting with Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Breton reportedly got him to agree to an “AI pact” on the spot, before tweeting the agreement, making it difficult for Pichai to back out.

Yet in this week’s reshuffle of top EU jobs, Breton resigned—a decision he alleged was due to backroom dealing between EU Commission president Ursula von der Leyen and French president Emmanuel Macron.

“I'm sure [the tech giants are] happy Mr. Breton will go, because he understood you have to hit shareholders’ pockets when it comes to fines,” says Umberto Gambini, a former adviser at the EU Parliament and now a partner at consultancy Forward Global.

Breton is to be effectively replaced by the Finnish politician Henna Virkkunen, from the center-right EPP Group, who has previously worked on the Digital Services Act.

“Her style will surely be less brutal and maybe less visible on X than Breton,” says Gambini. “It could be an opportunity to restart and reboot the relations.”

Little is known about Virkkunen’s attitude to Big Tech’s role in Europe’s economy. But her role has been reshaped to fit von der Leyen’s priorities for her next five-year term. While Breton was the commissioner for the internal market, Virkkunen will work with the same team but operate under the upgraded title of executive vice president for tech sovereignty, security and democracy, meaning she reports directly to von der Leyen.

The 27 commissioners, who form von der Leyen’s new team and are each tasked with a different area of focus, still have to be approved by the European Parliament—a process that could take weeks.

“[Previously], it was very, very clear that the commission was ambitious when it came to thinking about and proposing new legislation to counter all these different threats that they had perceived, especially those posed by big technology platforms,” says Mathias Vermeulen, public policy director at Brussels-based consultancy AWO. “That is not a political priority anymore, in the sense that legislation has been adopted and now has to be enforced.”

Instead Virkkunen’s title implies the focus has shifted to technology’s role in European security and the bloc’s dependency on other countries for critical technologies like chips. “There's this realization that you now need somebody who can really connect the dots between geopolitics, security policy, industrial policy, and then the enforcement of all the digital laws,” he adds. Earlier in September, a much anticipated report by economist and former Italian prime minister Mario Draghi warned that Europe would risk becoming “vulnerable to coercion” on the world stage if it did not jump-start growth. “We must have more secure supply chains for critical raw materials and technologies,” he said.

Breton is not the only prolific Big Tech adversary to be replaced this week—in a planned exit. Gone, too, is Margrethe Vestager, who had garnered a reputation as one of the world’s most powerful antitrust regulators after 10 years in the post. Last week, Vestager celebrated a victory in a case forcing Apple to pay $14.4 billion in back taxes to Ireland, a case once referred to by Apple CEO Tim Cook as “total political crap”.

Vestager—who vied with Breton for the reputation of lead digital enforcer (technically she was his superior)—will now be replaced by the Spanish socialist Teresa Ribera, whose role will encompass competition as well as Europe’s green transition. Her official title will be executive vice-president-designate for a clean, just and competitive transition, making it likely Big Tech will slip down the list of priorities. “[Ribera’s] most immediate political priority is really about setting up this clean industrial deal,” says Vermuelen.

Political priorities might be shifting, but the frenzy of new rules introduced over the past five years will still need to be enforced. There is an ongoing legal battle over Google’s $1.7 billion antitrust fine. Apple, Google, and Meta are under investigation for breaches of the Digital Markets Act. Under the Digital Services Act, TikTok, Meta, AliExpress, as well as Elon Musk’s X are also subject to probes. “It is too soon for Elon Musk to breathe a sigh of relief,” says J. Scott Marcus, senior fellow at think tank Bruegel. He claims that Musk's alleged practices at X are likely to run afoul of the Digital Services Act (DSA) no matter who the commissioner is.

“The tone of the confrontation might become a bit more civil, but the issues are unlikely to go away.”

i haven't posted any drawings in a while so here are some doodles i've done in my sketchbook from yesterday :D

this one is based off that one tweet that says "some people really need a hug, a forehead kiss and a grilled cheese cut diagonally" and it really reminded me of Salesman Barry for some reason so here he is in a hugged, kissed and grilled-cheese-cut-diagonally-enjoying state :) (also that is a little love-heart shaped kiss mark on his forehead but it looks odd because of the angle i was drawing at lol. i should fix it maybe)

i did a couple of doodles of my hc Craig design too and updated his hair a bit to be more defined and less messy :D it kinds looks like some vaguely apple-shaped hairstyle now which i find oddly appealing. someone in the HB discord said that one of the scientists in the new 4th of July JJ2 art looked like Craig wearing a hawaiian shirt so behold.... a man

here's a character i haven't drawn in literal years before now! good ol Dan Mandel from Dan Vs. :D i've always known about this show in passing for years from watching those old Fluffle Puff animations, but i never really properly got into it until it suddenly got a resurgence in popularity around 2021, and i, to this day, still think it is so funny how this show managed to air alongside My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop. this man almost said whore out loud in one of the episodes and it got through the censors. not even kidding it's from the wedding episode it's so funny. he's such a grimy little man <3

Chipspeech Twitter Archive Update

Hi I should have done this months ago.. I do not know when (or if) I am going to finish that website lmao. So I am just going to share my notes from Google Docs. Should be easier to read than the original posts and helpful as a starting point if anyone else decides to make a website :3

The documents are all on commenting mode so feel free to make comments to bookmark things for yourself or write your thoughts or whatever. Under the cut I have put some formatting notes.

It's a folder, each year of Twitter posts is its own document (I tried to compile them into one but it lagged too much). There is also a document with all of the original Tumblr posts (from the accounts I could find, no tags yet but I will go back and get them eventually, also no dates but they're all from 2015), and one with the bios from the official website for ease of access.

The formatting is a little (a lot) weird and there are probably pictures that need resizing/transcription but I figured it's better to give people access now. The text is small (to keep the page count as low as possible) so you will have to zoom in.

It goes by day, organized with a bulleted list. The top level bullets are each character that tweeted that day. The second level bullets are original tweets/retweets by that character. The third+ level bullets are comment threads under that tweet, the organization here is inconsistent but imo still readable (if you think something needs an edit for clarity let me know and I'll fix it).

For each character's section of the list, normal text is that character's tweets/comments. Italicized text is anyone who is not that character. If it is labeled with unitalicized text, it is that character/important account (e.g. the official Chipspeech account), otherwise it is a fan. I also included some labels and/or clarifying comments for Vocaloid producers I like, they're not central to the story though

I got rid of the line breaks within the tweets when copying them down because it was easier to format. Sorry about that. Idk how to fix it other than going through everything again but it doesn't take away from the story so I'm leaving it for now.

If something came from a website other than Twitter, I tried to provide the link (unless its content was deleted). I did my best to transcribe the Clyp posts that were not deleted.

If something is a text-only retweet, it is marked with [retweet]. If it includes an image, it's probably a screenshot of the whole thing. I only included retweets that felt story-relevant (so no miscellaneous cat pictures, Apple-related aesthetic images, etc.), but if people really want it I can go back and add the rest.

Deleted tweets are noted with [deleted tweet], with the characters they came from if applicable. Idk how Twitter works but it the person in the thread is replying to the username of a certain character, I assumed it was that character's tweet that had been deleted. If something says [deleted Dandy thread], assume there is a deleted Dandy tweet in between each of the listed tweets (or another character, but it's usually Dandy). That was meant to be a temporary time-saver and I've gone back and fixed the ones I've found, but there's probably more I accidentally skipped.

Anything not in English is translated in a comment. Except the X-Sampa (I will fix that sometime but there's not much of it). Also it was done with the built-in Google Translate feature so it may be a little incorrect. Unclear pictures and whatnot also have clarifying comments. I can add more clarifying comments (or image IDs) if anyone needs them.

I tried not to include any unattributed fanart but there are some that I forgot to copy the handle for (I am also fixing these when I find them).

As for any future updates to this folder as a whole, I kind of want to go back through each account's liked tweets to see if there's anything funny in there but idk when that will be. That would probably be its own document.

Honestly I should have given everyone access back in June.. oops. If you have any questions you can put them in a comment on this post (or reach out to me another way, idk). As I mentioned before, feel free to use all of this as a starting point if you're making your own website.

Feature on the release of the new 'Music of the Spheres'

Coldplay and BTS' first collaboration song 'My Universe' was released on 24th September. It is the first single from Coldplay's ninth album 'Music of the Spheres' (released 15th October), which debuted at No.1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No.3 on the UK Official Singles Chart. It is Coldplay's second No.1 single on the Hot 100 after 'Viva La Vida', and BTS's sixth song to reach No.1 on the Hot 100 in the last year and this year alone. Moreover, this is the first time a British band has recorded a number one song on the chart, and BTS became the first group in history to record five No.1 songs on the chart.

Rumours of collaboration have been whispered for some time This gorgeous East-meets-West big-name group competition has been whispered about by fans for quite some time. Chris Martin (vo./g/piano) was spotted in Seoul in the spring of this year, and whenever he was asked about a possible collaboration with BTS on his subsequent radio shows in the UK and the US, he was clearly suspicious of the topic. BTS, on the other hand, has long professed to be a fan of Coldplay and covered their classic 'Fix You' at their MTV Unplugged show in February this year. Coldplay, moved by the performance, tweeted "beautiful" in Hangul. In September, with the memory still fresh in their minds, rumours of a collaboration between the two finally became a reality when Chris and BTS performed together in a special episode of the YouTube original weekly music show RELEASED.

Love song Chris declares that "My Universe" is a "love song". The inspiration for the song came from an email he received from someone who wrote the phrase "My Universe". In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, he wrote about "difficult love, forbidden love, love that doesn't work" and added: "It felt cool for us two bands to do a difficult but ultimately fulfilling love story together." Chris admits that he was sceptical about the BTS collaboration at first, but "but every time I communicate and play music with them, I feel really comfortable. So I'm unabashedly and unashamedly thankful for this song, I'm thankful for the people who inspired this song, and I'm thankful for the people I'm singing with (=BTS)."

Face-to-face recording made possible by the Corona disaster Chris arrived in Seoul in April this year to record the song, spending two weeks in quarantine and then two days of close studio work with BTS. According to BTS's 'My Universe' documentary, which was released on 26th September, the collaboration had been planned for as long as 18 months before that. JUNGKOOK was delighted to record face to face with Chris, "the King of the Stadium Tours", and RM, who had been intrigued by Chris' personality, said that when he met him in person, he was impressed by his "very humble and personable personality, as I had heard, very pure and without prejudice". They also mentioned that Chris had studied BTS's music and performance in advance and included a dance break in this collaboration song, and that he had depicted a "universe created by you and me" in this song, which is similar to the message BTS has been conveying (in songs such as "Magic Shop"). RM, who wrote the lyrics for the song, revealed, "The target of 'You are my universe' should of course be ARMY (BTS fans), and I wrote it thinking about the day we would meet [again]."

Hologram co-starring The music video was released on 30th September. Directed by Dave Myers (Ed Sheeran, Jay-Z, Pink), it was filmed in Rubí, near Barcelona, Spain, for Coldplay, and in a studio in Seoul for BTS, against a green screen. The film tells the story of both groups becoming one in a hologram in a universe (galaxy) where music is banned and they are confronted by a giant silencer that threatens their existence, which was also a metaphor for the current times in the form of the coronavirus.

The theme is space The first single 'Higher Power', released on 7th May this year from Coldplay's new 'Music of the Spheres' album, was also initially distributed from the International Space Station, and its music video was set on the fictional planet Kaotica. The emoji titles of the songs on the album also use the space-related ⦵*✧❍∞. The reason why space became the theme of the album in this way was that Chris was watching Star Wars and thought about musicians existing in space. When he appeared on the US radio programme 'The Zach Sang Show', he said: "I was imagining all kinds of Spheres (celestial bodies), or Earth systems with all kinds of places and creatures, and I realised that I could be an artist on any of them. When I separated myself from Coldplay and thought that I wasn't even a human being, what kind of music could I make? It was a very freeing experience." In an interview with Zane Lowe, he also pointed out that recent years in particular have been an era of "musical utopia" for artists, where the boundaries between genres and eras have disappeared and everyone enjoys all kinds of music in a eclectic way, and that there was no reason why Coldplay should continue to fit into the usual frameworks forever, so they came up with the novel idea of letting Max Martin take care of the selection of producers. As you know, Max is a hitmaker who has worked on many songs, mainly for pop artists, from the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears in the past, to Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and The Weeknd in recent years. This is the first time Coldplay, who originally started as an indie rock band, has had him as their main producer. The new album thus completed includes a collaboration with BTS as well as a new song with Selena Gomez, 'Let Somebody Go'. According to The Sun (UK), Chris wrote the song with Selena, whom he had been a fan of for some time, in mind and recorded it in April this year, the same month as 'My Universe'.

Touring with the new album? On 12th October, just ahead of the new release, Coldplay held a release concert at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London. Although they are keen to tour with the new album, they did not tour with their last album Everyday Life (2019) due to environmental concerns, and even stated at the time that they would not tour until they could find a "greener and cleaner" way to do so. Fortunately, the means of it are slowly, if not perfectly, being found, and the band is eager to tour again.

Musk drops the bipartisan pose — and Republicans cheer Twitter’s new CEO has aligned himself with the GOP and welcomed back far right-wing users as Democratic scrutiny escalates.

Since taking the company private in October, Musk has abruptly re-invited numerous right-wingers to the platform, including Trump. He has mocked Democrats, backed Republicans ahead of the recent midterms, and — perhaps most notably — tweeted last weekend that he’d support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president in 2024.

Though he still says he’s after “balance” in Washington, he’s come down hard on the Republican side — and the party is now treating him as a convert.

Ideally, some ex-Twitter people are working on a knockoff version. Somewhat less ideally, Apple or Google may be working on alternatives.

The sad truth is that the pre-October Twitter is dead and is not coming back to life. It is already migrating in the direction of Parler or Truth Social.

DBSIDBSID. the kandrew beef is Personal and it’s so funny. i am working on making them get closer it just takes a lot of time bc andrew simply does not like to stick around. he comes to a sort of truce with them at some point, mostly after he and jean have a Talk alone, but he still doesn’t like kevin for a while. there IS side andreil tho…. neil is 26 :3 he comes to visit kevjean in paris for a bit and immediately causes problems. but the problems help them get their shit together so it’s fine! andrew is of course intrigued. most of it happens in the background tho bc they like to disappear together…… but neil actually ends up in foster care and gets adopted by wymack when he’s around 13, which is around the same age andrew is adopted and meets jeremy, so they understand each other still :) they do a lot of sneaking around and do not want their relationship perceived at all vs jeremy knox head of the PDA committee and very happy for his own friend finding love.

the biting…….. jeremy falls somewhere in the middle of the spectrum but he does suffer from the most intense feelings of love anyone has ever felt and will latch on like a dog and not let go sometimes. it really depends on his mood and what they’re doing how hard he bites ^-^ jean almost never complains but kevin always does. as is how they are. and they really both love attacking kevin. sitting there biting at his neck and shoulders and jean in particular likes gnawing on the wrist bone. jeremy is only a few inches shorter than kevin but will not hesitate to push him around….. dreamy sigh. at first he’s very nervous about overstepping Anything around either of them but once he knows that they actually like him he becomes such a menace. it’s his life’s duty to make kevin day, his childhood celebrity crush, a little embarrassed and whiny. both he and jean are soooo happy to tease kevin and kevin complains constantly about being ganged up on. jeremy is actually still IN college too, he turns 23 toward the beginning of the fic (i. hc him as a cancer!) and he and andrew have their fifth year to get through so he’s really just some college kid nibbling on and picking on them and taking over their apartment. trust that jean gets teased too he wouldn’t want anyone left out!

Replying to the anon about advising against Heidi's store: I agree with both of you, it's probably not going to do a whole lot in the long run since her few customers are just her overly loyal following. But people who aren't familiar with Heidi's manipulation and poor business practices should get a buyer's beware. This is especially important when she's made multiple tweets where she admits to doing a bunch of other things (sleeping, spas, skipping around apple orchards, etc) instead of working on shipping packages. Like openly admitting to things like "I was supposed to work today but I slept instead!" Customers are going to spend a lot of money and struggle to get the products they ordered.

Again, I can't tell you what to do, I would personally reccomend against it, not only would you be accused of working for her ex no matter what you actually think of him, but you'll just pull attention to her shop from people that never knew about her before, where they'll either be manipulated into being a part of her ass-licking whiteknight brigade or Heidi would get her narcissist fix from the negative attention.

General observation but what's with the hindsight bias a lot of our hockey writers seem to have? Context: Yohe tweeted out all the names of the ex-Pens guys who are thriving on playoff teams and blaming Jeff Carter for their depatures. Hextall is gone and they're still beating the dead horse, like move on? It's not like the roster is unsalvagable. Yes we could've kept our good depth guys but it's apples to oranges when they're in different roles, different coaching systems in different teams. And every team in the NHL will let go of a good player and there'll always be someone who will thrive elsewhere. You know it’s bad when the cocreator of The Matrix thinks your artificial intelligence plan stinks. In June, as the Directors Guild of America was about to sign its union contract with Hollywood studios, Lilly Wachowski sent out a series of tweets explaining why she was voting no. The contact’s AI clause, which stipulates that generative AI can’t be considered a “person” or perform duties normally done by DGA members, didn’t go far enough. “We need to change the language to imply that we won’t use AI in any department, on any show we work on,” Wachowski wrote. “I strongly believe the fight we [are] in right now in our industry is a microcosm of a much larger and critical crisis.”

On Thursday, that crisis hit another major milestone when the Screen Actors Guild—American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA)—went on strike. Like the Writers Guild of America, which is also on strike, one of the biggest disputes was over AI. Leading up to the strike, one SAG member told Deadline that actors were beginning to see Black Mirror’s “Joan Is Awful” episode as a “documentary of the future” and another told the outlet that the streamers and studios—which include Warner Bros., Netflix, Disney, Apple, Paramount, and others—“can’t pretend we won’t be used digitally or become the source of new, cheap, AI-created content.”

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the WGA strike and its parallels with the Luddite labor movement. Like the Luddites, writers worry about new forms of automation taking their jobs, but also aren’t anti-tech hard-liners. If AI tools could be used to help writers—to, say, drum up new names for some sci-fi planet—they could serve a purpose without threatening anyone’s livelihood. If writers could be trained to use large language models as tools, that’s one thing. But if they’re used in lieu of writers, or used to write scripts that humans need to fix for lower fees, that’s a problem, the WGA argues. Ultimately, they want a say in how AI gets used in filmmaking.

Actors want that, too. But the way AI could impact their work looks very different. Unlike writers, actors can’t necessarily be trained to use those tools to produce their work—the AI was trained on them. Yes, if generative AI creates, say, a scene in a film, actors will have to be hired to give those performances, but it’s easy to see why they want protections on the use of their likenesses—and are willing to strike to get them.

This week, the WGA East slammed G/O Media over its use of AI, following a Star Wars article that appeared on Gizmodo full of errors. Will any of this stop the rise of the bots? No. It doesn’t even negate that AI could be useful in a lot of fields. June Wood's Story

In the Shaftlands a time centuries ago, the name June Wood belonged to nobody. The current owner of that name, fittingly, belongs to no one. She has no family, no hometown, and precious few memories that aren't a blur of color and pain.

Her first tangible memory is of waking up in a white misty void. She learned later that this was the Spectral Realm; the afterlife. If she focused, she could hear the voices of songbirds. Her real first memory was less solid - she would try to hold it in her hands to analyze it and pick it apart for details, but it would become blurry or drip down into the abyss like water. 

She remembered - only vaguely - once having a father who loved her, and a stepmother who hated her, and a younger brother who idolised her. She remembered the blinding white of the snow outside her house during winter, and the dark ebony of the artistically carved chest in the kitchen, and the blood-red of the apples that she and her brother would bring home from the town orchard.

She remembered fear. She remembered the sharp, lingering pain of a slap and the dull, aching pain of a bruise. She remembered sitting under the tree in the garden, listening to the birds sing and trying to imitate their songs.

She remembered, gradually, a song she had created - pulled the chords and harmonies out of a mess of confusion and betrayal and anger and sorrow.

My mother, she killed me

She remembered her mother telling her to collect an apple from the chest.

She remembered a sharp, blunt, sudden pain in her neck, like nothing she had ever felt before. She remembered hot, hot blood bursting out the broken vessels of her severed neck, remembered the salt and copper heavy in her mouth. 

She remembered watching with wide eyes as she - that is, her head, her brain, the part of her body that her consciousness resided in - fell down into the chest and landed among the apples, making them all the more red.

My father, he ate me

She remembered her stepmother deceiving her brother into thinking he had killed his sister. She remembered her stepmother, her butcher, gathering her body on the table and sawing through flesh and tissue and bone and marrow until she was in many pieces. 

She remembered the agony of having her muscle carved away from bone, pain so great it blinded the senses, prevented thought, made you question why you were forced to be born, wonder if you ever really existed in the first place. She remembered trying to scream, but having no body to do it with.

She remembered the long, dragged on process of the meat boiling in the stew pot. She remembered the salt of her brother's tears mixing with the meat and blood and sweat.

She remembered the tearing of flesh between a fork and teeth, grinding and swallowing and dissolving in acid.

She knew she shouldn't remember any of that, let alone have felt it. But here she was.

My little brother who loved me gathered my bones with a silken scarf and laid them beneath the juniper tree. Tweet, tweet, what a beautiful bird I am

Finally, she remembered not feeling anything anymore. Her shaken spirit being pulled alongside her bones to rest under the tree she loved. 

Vaguely, she remembered one last thing. Although, she wasn't sure if the last bit was real, or merely a creation of a mind beyond distraught and pulled apart by pain.

She thinks she remembers taking the form of a beautiful songbird, with feathers as richly colored as gemstones, sharing her tragic tale in the form of a song with the town for some time. Minutes? Months? Years? All possible, all unable to be confirmed.

And then she was in the Spectral Realm, with nothing once again. When her aimless spirit began hearing a dissonant tune, it was a welcome change from the void. She followed it for an amount of time that didn't exist. Before she could realize, she was stepping out of the mist and into a forest, green and lush and real.

She wandered for only a few minutes until she was found by a strange man with clothes decorated with black feathers found her. He took her to a castle, which she learned was a school. She learned that she had been dead for centuries, and that no one knew why she was back in a semi-corporeal body. She was allowed to stay, provided that she didn't cause issues and would do her best to assist him in understanding the nature of her existence.

She took a new name, as she did not remember what she was called before. June Wood, after the tree she was buried under. She discovered that her song had magic properties, and that anyone who heard it had their hearts opened to her mind's eye, allowing her to see into the depths of their souls and inner conflicts. The spell was christened, Judgement of the Songbird (My Mother, She Killed Me).

June was placed in a dorm of splendid marble, of the smell of fresh lavender, of royal purples and gems with colors of a peacock's tail. A dorm of beauty and tenacity and passion. (Was she beautiful enough to be in such a dorm? June didn't think so. Even if she was somewhat alive again, she looked recently deceased, with pale skin and dull eyes and hair that was chopped unceremoniously. Not to mention, the silken scarf she always wore tight around her neck, to spare her classmates from the gruesome sight of peeling skin and exposed spinal cord.)

June did not know why she was here. At first, she questioned, what had she done that was so terrible that she should not only be murdered in the most violent fashion, but left in purgatory, only to be dragged out to live again? 

But as she sang, and as she saw her fellow students' struggles, buried deep in their hearts, she declared to herself that she would take on the role of the songbirds she used to listen to for hours. 

A comforting voice, an understanding melody, a way to pour out your pain, so that your steps might be a bit easier, your heart a bit lighter.
