Flåmsbana ~ Flåm ~ Norway Flåmsbana is the Flåm Railway that connects the high mountain station of Myrdal to Flåm station in the valley. This is one of the world's steepest railway tracks (height difference of 866 metres). The highest part of the track can allow only one train per time, so the train going up has to stop and wait for the one going down to pass by first. ~ La Flåmsbana è la linea ferroviaria che connette la stazione di Myrdal (sulle montagne) a quella di Flåm (a valle). Flåm, Norway August 2017

We left Bergen by train and headed to Voss (yes, like the water). From there, we took a bus to Gudvangen (Viking Valley) and then a fjord tour to Flåm. This boat ride was about 2 hours long and it was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever done. My pictures don’t do it justice but you can see some of the fjord below. Again, seeing this made me (and my problems) feel so small. Once we got to Flåm, Aaron and I dropped our bags off at our first ever hostel. It was the cutest place. Each room looked like it’s own little cabin. We didn’t spend much time here though because we had to get to one of the most famous breweries in Norway, AEGIR Bryggeri. And the beer journey continues… We started with a beer flight and I tried a sour for the first time. It was pretty damn good.

 The next morning, we got on Flåmbanen headed for Oslo. This is the train ride that every tourist has to take while in Norway. The top part of the windows opened to let that fresh Norwegian air in, which is something I crave when I’m living through the summer heat and humidity in Alabama. We passed so many beautiful spots during the ride. The train went so high above sea level that we were surrounded by snow in August! The train also stopped at this massive waterfall where everyone could get out and witness a woman singing in the waterfall wearing a red robe, resembling the Norwegian folklore character, the hulder. The hulder is said to be an attractive woman that shows up in waterfalls and sings to men in order to lure them to follow her. It is similar to a siren, but not a mermaid.
