like okay listen. one of you has the ability to go back in time by clapping your hands while looking at a photo. presumably you know that abilities are passed on to children. they can activate at any time, perhaps during traumatic moments like with the twins. one of you went to teach at a school for superpowered kids so presumably you know how this works.

and you think you can just abandon a kid with unactivated powers?? leave him with trauma ripe for awakening abilities? what if it wasn't the bridon photo that triggered it huh? what if cheng xiaoshi, at the tender age of 8, cried so hard wondering about his parents and then he accidentally claps himself into a random photo (IN A PHOTO STUDIO! A SHOP ABOUT PHOTOS!! WHERE HE LIVES!!!) with no one to guide him? what if he gets stuck there??? as a kid???

like okay yeah lu guang discovered his ability at 7 years old but apparently someone was there to help him. and also his ability doesn't like, harm him physically. he's not possessing someone or anything. so we're all just lucky cheng xiaoshi never discovered his powers until he was an adult because like. if he discovered that as a kid, lonely as he was?? he'd be so fucked. oh my god. just thinking about it gets me heated like what the fuck cheng weimin. shao yuanyuan. what the fuck. what if your 8 year old kid with abandonment issues got stuck possessing some random person and he doesn't know what's happening. he doesn't know anything. his parents left him and he's not even himself anymore and he's not home and how does he fix this, how does he go back. the horror of it all.

Hussie's update rate slowed down quite a bit after the scratch. The fandom was never again as explosively active as it was in 2011. It's still going to be more of a taper-off of activity as we head into Act 6, but you're very much reading through the end of an era right now. We see the egg as the loading screen which starts us back to Dave's entry into the Medium. The reflection of everything again in his shades as the sky turns a deep maroon purple to flaming red and finally black as the meteor clears the clouds in its decent. That's a fuck huge meteor. The half prototyped sprite pecks at Dave to keep him away and succeeds in knocking him off the radio tower; smuppets, swords and Cal following suit.

The egg also falls and it transitions to a shot of the meteor highlighting how one or the other will pass first. And though we know how it ends both are equally deadly. Atop the meteor is Bro. Understandable once we see the babies hurtling to Earth but in the moment incomprehensible. As they fall, Bro slices through the whole thing with a single slash as if its a normal, simple and easy feat. The two halves hurtle on their way, buying Dave just a bit more time. The skyline is beautiful even if its worse in its destruction. The rocket board comes in clutch, somehow piloting its way to and under Dave stopping his fall.

The egg hatches.

We don't see whats inside. Maybe there never was anything. It serves as a transition to Dave's present where hordes of sulfur imps make there way upwards to where Dave eyes his gate.

We go back to the ship with Mom and Dad as it makes its way towards Skaia. Mom gun in hand. Dad wielding his cake.

We return to the battlefield, Jack marching forward on the blood splattered board. The sheer number of chesspeople following WV greater than we thought. The scene fades to focus on Jacks hand wielding the sword and flashes of red dye the previous blue of Skaias sky. The music brings back jazz tones and the beat sounds like a heartbeat that pounds steady before it ramps up in intensity. Jack slashes at the chesspeople closest to him before all we see is red, black and white with every slash. An overview of the battlefield shows how quickly Jack has turned this into a massacre. Why WV is left alive is unknown. Perhaps now that his power is displayed and WV cowed, Jack feels it a waste. He needs people to rule doesn't he? Or maybe its part of the machinations of Sburb. The loops need to be completed after all.

He and WV stare at each other before Jack raises his fist to use another power of the queens. And holy hell what is that?! Red lights, tentacles? vines?, emerge and strike through Skaia reaching further areas of battle indiscriminately attacking. For some reason I'm reminded of blood vessels with branching veins and capillaries.

Returning to the meteor lab we see John. Only 14 seconds until the Reckoning is well and truly on its way. The babies, each with different items/animals, flash away as Sburb? calculates the best meteors to fulfill it purpose.

A different area of Skaia where more of the red tendrils burst from the depths. There's more aircraft varieties than we've seen and pawns wielding guns. The colors they wear haven't been seen before, perhaps the lighting or their designation, and each of them wears a scarf. Jack again uses the ring, this time summoning what look to be those larger chesspieces but modeled after him. Same hat, scar, sword, tentacles; like some sort of psudo king pieces almost.

We zoom out to see the scale of destruction being caused; lines of red all over the upper left of Skaia. Duece comes in with the white kings staff. When'd he get that? It makes sense that Jack wields it since he slashed the Black Kings to remove his power but I don't know what the implications are of him using items from both sides. He raises it up and starts the Reckoning. Just literally having the power to summon the meteors with the wave of a wand. Interesting that both staffs are capable of it but only the black side ever uses it.

We go back to the Veil as meteors start being brought to Skaia. Droog, you better hurry or you'll be following along with it. The MEOW code finishes processing and with Halleys paradox DNA, baby Bec is born. Familiar green energy radiates off Bec and releases throughout the lab leaving AR traumatized. I dont think he will make it off the meteor in time. The music slows and we see Jade back on Earth sleeping.

Meanwhile her dream and robo selves fly towards Johns tower. A shot of Prospit as the White Queen watches over and prepares to leave with her retinue consisting of Ms. Paint and others. The music now has a more regal sound. I'm a little annoyed that she leaves Jade and John to fend for themselves and who knows how many other Prospit natives. As the planet turns it looks like its almost eclipse time again. Jade looks up to see Jack flying towards Prospit against the blue of Skaia.

An interruption occurs. A silhouette of Bec's head full of static and flashing images as the screen is dominated by green energy. What I managed to see is:

The same as above but zoomed in on Jack again

I almost get the feeling its a glitch because Bec "shouldn't" have been created. Or like a disc skipping when scratched. Because suddenly we see Prospit in flames as the red tendrils set about killing and destroying everything. Jacks goal becomes clear as he slices the chain holding the moon tethered. So Prospit doesn't have gravity to hold the moon... well that's another question answered.

"I do have to wonder why would they chain the moon to the planet? Whats the gravity situation in an endless void? Theres gotta be at least some if everyone else is walking but not enough to keep your moon?" (Dec 20-21 post).

As it falls towards Skaia, Jacks figure transitions us to Daves land. Jack arrives to a giant Record. Not entirely sure how the mechanisms work but a ton of gears are beneath it seemingly helping it stay aloft. Bro, of course, is there. The two prepare to battle and seem to be evenly matched. I have to wonder why Jack is all the way over here, like what is the purpose? Is he just itching for a fight? They both get silhouette shots in red, black and white but in a mirror inversion. Suddenly, Bro raises his sword to strike the center of the record allowing cracks to form and radiate light before flashstepping away from the strife.

Another static interruption. This time I was able to see:

The giant record

Prospit on fire

The queen leaving

The record again

Even more suddenly and surprisingly we get interrupted with the Squiddles? A game plays where four squiddles combine and eight attack and old sailor man figure. As they do more Redcheek hearts get added to the top of the screen before the eight assimilate(?) the sailor and turn into another heart. This last action grants 13 hearts.

Another Bec glitch, this time longer containing:

These static moments have mostly all been shots of the flash that we've seen and I cant make sense of what its supposed to convey.

Back to the main flash we see the flaming bits of Prospit as it draws nearer to Skaia. The top of Johns tower falls though luckily he, his blanket and that damned Jack plush are outside. Johns still asleep which doesn't bode well for his survival. Luckily Jade, back lit by the flaming planet against the blue sky is on a mission to catch him. We see how close they are to impact as she grabs him and does everything in her power to wake him up, shaking and slapping him to the beat.

There's not much time and in a last ditch effort Jade flings John outside of the radius of Prospit leaving herself open to the full brunt of the burning planet. Its likely she doesn't make it as Prospit makes contact and we return to Earth where Jades robot self overheats and explodes. Still asleep, Jade falls from her room along with her lunchtop and plushes. This flash is titled Descend and so far every kid has has had a scene where they fall except the outcome is different. Dave is caught, Jade is unknown and John?

John is Awake

This is the worst fucking time for it. Probably confused to hell and back as we see the sheer size of the crater made by Prospit. It was at this point my only though was "fuck wait what about John on the meteor!?!?". If hes awake then his other self is now asleep, still stuck in the lab. Hopefully, and surely (?), that meteor doesn't get rocketed towards Skaia.

I see the strategy Jack might be using. Overwhelm Skaia with the normal meteors and extra flying debris behind the defenses. Effective, but to what end? So far Jack doesn't seem to have a goal other than destroy as much as he can. We actually see the meteors heading towards Skaia as it deploys gates to negate as many as it can. I hate how cool everything looks. These shots as we follow the meteors reaching the gates are visually so cool but knowing everything else occurring leaves a bad taste. The babes just ride on without protection atop each of their meteors which is crazy to think about. Gives context to how Bro was able to do so at the beginning however.

Finally we go over with Rose and oh is she pissed. She uses the black magic, purple really, to decimate an ogre. Dave on the other hand looks calm up towards his gate. The transition is so cool with gates as it shifts from red to purple. Rose in a stunning display creates a pentagram/pentacle to have enough energy to destroy the gate. I don't think that was a smart idea for many reasons. Firstly, what is going on with her? Is this a result of the dreamselves merging and Rose now being fed up with the game she once wanted to play? Second, will it affect the round robin progression the kids were supposed to do? Granted, it looks like that strategy can be thrown out the window but you cant discount anything that still has an inkling of a chance to allow for a win.

Conversely, Dave just gently riding in on the Unreal Air through his when he was the most vocal about not playing. One has given up following the rules while the other does what they can to keep going. Rose, surrounded by purple tinged red light, flies off somewhere across the waters.

Suddenly we are outside of and approach Skaia, passing through its gate shield, towards Earth and impacting Johns house like it did many months ago. Looks like those meteors are not completely a normal consequence of playing the game.

A single bell tolls as we see the same impact cloud, the music and flash fading. Another tune plays along with the sounds of wind as we see Jades island. Bec looking in the direction of the exploded tower. As the camera pans, the scene gets brighter and our first glimpse of the final meteor.
