Ok here we go. This here is Blaine Anderson's birth chart! I put his birthday down as April 14, 1992.

Click through to read my interpretation of each of these. This post is VERY LONG.

Let's start with the planets. These are like facets of your self, how you are perceived and how you interact with the world. The signs they're in are like a lens through which you view that aspect of your life, and sometimes that lens is easy to see through, sometimes not.

The inner planets are, put simply, about the individual on a personal level. The further out you go, the slower a planet moves, and it's influence grows from personal to generational.

--- Sun in Aries ---

The sun in astrology is basically you in summary. If you were a novel, your sun sign would be the synopsis on the back.

Blaine is such an Aries, okay, like listen. I know Aries has a reputation for being a hothead, since it's a fire sign, but we DO see that tendency in Blaine! He gets snappy with Kurt in BIOTA and storms off. He gets in Karofsky's face and shoves him in NoN, and later snaps at Sandy Ryerson over the heckling. He famously gets in a little tussle with Sam about doing sexy dance moves and storms out. He gets so mad about Sam, and also Finn getting on his case, that he's next seen punching a punching bag.

Angry outbursts aren't all that Aries sun is known for, though. They're impulsive and naive, but also driven by passion. Aries is ruled by Mars, which is the planet of passion, strength, and temperament. Blaine is indeed passionate, driven, and very impulsive. When he has a crush on Jeremiah, he decides the best course of action is to not JUST serenade him, but to organize an entire flashmob set to When I Get You Alone at Jeremiah's workplace. A normal person would, at the very least, wait until Jeremiah had clocked out before singing a song about having sex with them as a romantic gesture.

The Gap Attack is THE classic example of Blaine being impulsive, but it does go beyond that. He kisses Rachel while playing spin the bottle and, based solely on this one drunken experience, after unequivocally identifying as gay for who knows how long, thinks he might be bi. No other bi moments, no other instances of being attracted to a girl, just a drunk kiss at a party.

But wait there's more! Blaine is a natural leader, like most Aries sun people; he is the lead singer of the Warblers, but when Kurt calls him out on hogging the spotlight he tries to change their set list. In New Directions, he doesn't try to overstep with Finn being the unofficially official male lead, but still tries to offer advice and bolster his teammates.

On the negative side, though, he's so focused on his immediate goals that he loses track of details. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac cycle and therefore doesn't have the 'experience' of other signs. Blaine is naive, and more concerned with immediate satisfaction instead of long-term planning. He tries to have sex with Kurt in the back of the station wagon, he tries to deal with his fear of failure and not getting into NYADA by saying he's always wanted to be a doctor. By doing that, he's trying to immediately stop the fear by saying he wants something, fully believing his own lie.

--- Moon in Virgo ---

The moon in astrology is your emotions, your intuition, your hidden self. Virgo is an earth sign and represents practicality, aesthetic, and a focus on detail.

Blaine is well known in the fandom for having some pretty emotional moments, even outbursts. I think these moments come from things not working out as Blaine planned, as a Virgo moon person would be the type to analyze a situation to mentally rehearse their emotional response.

As for his inner self, this placement tells me that he is a perfectionist when it comes to his own achievements, and he probably obsesses over details in things like performances. In fact, he does do this, after opening night of WSS, Kurt finds Blaine going over a dance step that he says he didn't get quite right. Other than being upset about what happened between him and Kurt earlier (the fight they had as they were leaving the gay bar), it tracks with this placement that Blaine would forgo celebrating opening night over perfecting a single dance step that likely no one else noticed he didn't hit exactly.

--- Mercury in Pisces ---

Mercury is your intellect, how your brain works, how you get along with others and how you make friends. It's your logic, how you communicate, how well you get along with technology and any profession that classically used roads (messengers, doctors, thieves, etc)

Having Mercury, the planet of intellect, in Pisces, the sign of dreamers, makes Blaine pretty susceptible to getting lost in daydreams and fantasies. We kind of see this with his infatuation with Jeremiah; he builds up the relationship in his head to a point that, after meeting with him twice for coffee, Blaine thinks it's high time to serenade him. It makes sense to Blaine, because he's imagined their whole life together ("if he and I got married, the Gap would give me a 50% discount.")

Pisces is also famously a very mild-mannered sign, and tends to temper any planet within it. He might be very intelligent, but isn't a show-off about it.

When communicating, Blaine might be more prone to using wild analogies. He might even be the type to start talking about something, space out while his mind runs at full speed but the conversation carries on at a normal pace, then jump back into conversation miles ahead of everyone else. So like, he is prone to overthinking.

--- Venus in Aries ---

HE JUST WANTS TO BE SPONTANEOUS AND FUN!!

As mentioned already, Aries is a fire sign. Venus is the planet of love, but also of aesthetics and beauty. Like Mars, Venus rules passion, but while Mars is more driving- force passion, Venus is the sexual passion.

For aesthetic, this placement is very bright colors, very LOOK AT ME! which tracks with Blaine's later-season fashion choices lol. Looking at his bedroom, I can see the Aries influence; though his walls are dark, they're not black like Santana (an obvious Scorpio) but a dark grey. He has some trophies on display, showing off his achievements, and of course his vintage cameras.

Blaine's obsession with vintage most likely comes more from his Mercury, like i would expect it to be a hobby instead of a purely aesthetic choice. He doesn't dress like that and talk like that and have old cameras and a boom box etc etc because he thinks it looks cool, it's because he's genuinely interested in it.

Anyway lol

Venus is actually in detriment in Aries. This means that the concepts and traits of Venus have a hard time being expressed through the lens of Aries. This would explain why Blaine doesn't really know what he wants in love, and seems to instead base his idea of romance on things that he sees in performances. Aries is brash and bold and a little unsteady, and Venus being love and softness clashes with that.

This also means that when Blaine loves, he loves HARD. Aries is all or nothing, and that's how Blaine is in relationships. He wants to give everything he is, and he expects the other person to give the same, which i think is part of why he and Kurt have the issues that they do. Kurt doesn't want to give himself fully and completely over to another person (i suspect he has Venus in Aquarius or Sagittarius) but Blaine needs that. If he can't get it, he feels the relationship is one-sided and unfair to him, that he's giving more than he's getting.

I would say the only other Venus signs more intense than Aries in a relationship would be Scorpio and maybe Taurus, but their intensity is different. Scorpio is intensity personified. Venus Scorpio wants to own you. Taurus Venus wants to spoil you rotten, they give 100%. Aries, being a detriment for Venus, would be intense in love because 1. Aries is a bonfire of a sign 2. Being in detriment causes conflict which fuels the Aries fire 3. Aries as a sign is used to being up front, and when any kind of miscommunication happens they might take it very personally. Miscommunication is likely to happen with Venus in detriment.

--- Mars in Pisces ---

Oh God here we fuckin go lol

Mars in Pisces is one of those things i see on a birth chart and say "oh so THAT'S why they're like that" 😅

Listen. Mars is the planet of action. As mentioned in the Venus section, Mars is also passion, though more of what drives you to act. It's also your temperament, what you fight for, and your ego.

Also mentioned above, Pisces is a very dreamy sign. Having Mars here makes someone much harder to anger, but when they do get mad, it's in a very passive-aggressive way.

This placement also indicates a desire to be in the arts in some capacity, to create things. On at least one occasion (and one that wasn't real so it being canon is debatable) Blaine wants to "make art and help people". This is so Martian Pisces it might as well be the slogan for this placement.

Blaine is not a fan of angry confrontation; you might think this contradicts a few moments, like when he confronts Karofsky or snaps at Sandy Ryerson. But just hold up a minute lemme explain.

With Karofsky, Blaine isn't looking for a fight. He's there for Kurt, not his own ego or anything. He's actually very kind and understanding to Karofsky, and Karofsky is the one that escalates that by shoving Blaine into the fence. And Blaine immediately folds, holding up his hands defensively and lowering his gaze, not saying anything further, completely backing down.

For the Sandy Ryerson moment, this is just Martian Pisces anger. They do get angry and fed up like anyone else; it's important to note that once again, it's in defense of someone else (namely, the ND kids who are being heckled).

The one moment I can think of where Blaine really blows up and gets truly angry is after he loses it when Sam says they should do more sexy moves; Finn later finds Blaine in the gym's weight room, hitting a punching bag, very angry. This is anger built up over several weeks of Finn giving him a hard time out of jealousy; Blaine blows up on Sam, likely not appreciating that Sam called his little spin move "totally boyband". So to work off that angry energy, Blaine turns to boxing. So he does have an outlet for his anger, meaning he knows how to deal with it and prefers to deal with it alone rather than take it out on someone else.

As soon as Finn comes clean and admits he's jealous, Blaine is no longer angry with him and is able to work with Finn completely. Pisces is a very friendly sign, and wants to get along as much as possible (second only to Libra in that regard). He doesn't want to stay angry, unlike other water signs (Scorpio and Cancer), who will hold on to a grudge until they feel they've gotten retribution (Scorpio) or you've learned your lesson (Cancer).

Of course, Mars is so much more than just being big mad. Blaine is a born performer, but not in a Rachel Berry way of needing perfection and adoration. Instead, Blaine loves performing because it allows him to express emotion (Cough Syrup, Fighter, Against All Odds; he actually outright says that he knows how to express things in song but not in actions) and be his truest self. Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet of dreams, creativity, illusion and escapism, just to give you an idea of this energy as its manifested by Mars.

Short version: Blaine is creative and non-confrontational, driven by his passion for performing, and just wants to get along with everyone.

Those are all the inner planets. The outer planets, which move much slower from our perspective, have a broader reach than just personal.

--- Jupiter in Virgo ---

Jupiter is the planet of expansion, growth, and luck. As mentioned with the moon sign, Virgo is an earth sign that likes order and detail.

Having this placement means that Blaine benefits most when doing work for others. This in combination with his Aries sun make him a good leader; he can take charge, but he also finds growth in service to others. We see this in how he integrates himself into ND, not by immediately trying to take on the role as leader (something that one might expect from an Aries sun, but his Mars greatly tempers his ambition so it's more internal) but by building up his teammates. He backs up Finn with his morale-boosting speeches and encourages Rory to take a solo, etc. He wants the team to succeed and knows that to do that, he needs to help those that need it.

This is also where Blaine finds personal growth. Again, he says he wants to "make art and help people." He is also detail-oriented and a hard worker.

Jupiter is in detriment in Virgo, which indicates that Blaine might not even WANT to be a leader, not completely, because he feels like it would too quickly go to his head. He might be afraid of having that much power, of having the expectation of carrying the entire team, and instead prefers to work as an equal member of a team.

--- Saturn in Aquarius ---

Saturn is the planet of responsibility, obligation, and discipline. Aquarius is all about individuality, independence, and humanitarianism.

Patrick Watson (patrickwatsonastrology.com) describes this placement as an anti-hero, especially when paired against Sun in Leo.

At first glance, this might not seem to fit with Blaine, but that's because we're looking at the concept on a more grand scale than is necessary. Translated to a teenager in a high school show choir, I think this is Blaine's dark side. This is where the idea to cheat on Kurt came from.

"Kurt is ignoring me, he must not love me anymore. I'm going to act out in a way that will get his attention so I can find out if he does love me." There's also Blaine's need for attention seen elsewhere in his chart, but I think his Saturn plays into it a fair bit. Blaine was attempting to take the situation (Kurt getting distant) entirely into his own hands (a very Aquarius thing to do) to have a sense of control.

And then, of course, he does own up to it immediately when Kurt presses him on it. He takes full responsibility of what he did, is fully transparent about it, but his motives for doing it are a little hard to convey.

It also comes up when he accidentally gives away ND's setlist to the Warblers, and how he attempts to fix it. He gave Sebastian the setlist not out of loyalty to the Warblers, but purely by accident (his Aries naivety) and he fully commits to fixing it by owning up to the mistake and challenging the Warblers for the right to perform Michael Jackson (Aquarius Saturn determination).

This placement also shows how determined Blaine is. This pairs pretty well with his Virgo Jupiter, and having a good work ethic probably comes very naturally to him.

--- Uranus in Capricorn ---

Uranus is known as the Great Awakener. This is progress, change, and rebellion. Blaine has his in Capricorn, the sign most associated with hard workers.

He really does have quite a few apparent opposites in his chart, which is interesting.

Anyway, this means that Blaine is innovative and hardworking and very ambitious. It also makes him a bit of a control freak.

--- Neptune in Capricorn ---

Neptune is the planet of illusions, dreams and inspiration. Capricorn is the sign of hard work. This is a generational planet; Neptune stays in a sign for over a decade.

This placement brings success in artistic endeavors, as well as questioning structure such as family and society.

--- Pluto in Scorpio ---

This is another generational planet, and is pretty much only good for looking at the generation itself since it's so far out and moves so slowly. Scorpio is the sign of destruction and rebirth, deep passion, secrecy, and intensity.

Pluto in Scorpio makes Blaine a millennial, though a late one. This generation experienced the destruction and rebirth of society, the economy, and technology. As a later millennial, Blaine would still be relatively safe from the collapsing economy in 2008 as he was still a minor at the time, but he would still see the impact of it.

On the brighter side, though, this also means he grew up with technological advances that opened up the entire world in a way never before seen, mostly the internet.

For the houses, I'll go into the Ascendant in some detail but give a brief description of the rest of them.

--- House 1/Ascendant: Cancer ---

Remember that book analogy i used with the sun sign? How your sun is the synopsis on the back? Well, your Ascendant is the first chapter. It's the hook. This is the first impression people have of you.

I put Blaine's ascendant in Cancer. He gives off very warm, caring energy, though with a sense of depth that can be off-putting to some. This is also Blaine swooping in to help Kurt, how he notices Kurt is upset after Teenage Dream and wants to alleviate whatever is bothering him.

He can also be very moody, giving in quite frequently to his emotions, or even just having a hard time hiding what he's really feeling.

This placement also means that Blaine's chart is ruled by the moon. His emotions guide his life, he has strong instincts and a desire to protect. When he gets dropped from NYADA, it's because his emotions took him over and he couldn't focus on his school work.

--- House 2: Leo ---

The second house is your material possessions and wealth.

Having any fire sign here can be good, but having Leo here means that Blaine would be best served finding a career that allows him freedom of expression, and plenty of opportunities to shine in the spotlight.

--- House 3: Virgo ---

The third house governs communication, learning, and immediate relationships, like cousins and siblings as well as how you relate to your immediate surroundings.

Having Virgo here indicates strong and clear communication, though also a tendency for perfectionism. In school, Blaine would be a meticulous note-taker with perfectly organized folders, and likely has very neat and legible handwriting.

--- House 4: Libra ---

The fourth house is the home and family.

Blaine would be the mediator at home, always wanting everyone to get along. Libra is the sign of justice, but also of people-pleasers. He goes along with his dad rebuilding a car with him because it keeps the peace.

--- House 5: Scorpio ---

OH BOY LMAO

The fifth house is romance, self-expression, and pleasure.

Scorpio is well known for being passionate and intense. This is where Blaine's clinginess comes from. Scorpio is a highly possessive sign, so in romance Blaine wants to know that whomever he is with has eyes only for him. Blaine wants to be wanted.

His self-expression is very deep and meaningful, and he might even have trouble fully expressing what he's feeling due to Scorpio being so secretive.

--- House 6: Sagittarius ---

The sixth house is the house of work, health, and routine.

This is where the Dalton Fight Club comes from, especially since Blaine kept boxing after coming to McKinley. Sagittarius is the sign of freedom, and Blaine would want to maintain his health and wellness with his own schedule and on his own terms.

As for routines, he would not particularly like a rigid routine, but instead prefer some flexibility.

--- House 7: Capricorn ---

The seventh house is commonly referred to the house of marriage and partnership.

Blaine wants stability in a relationship, and he has a strong desire for commitment.

--- House 8: Aquarius ---

The eighth house represents death, transformation, power, and sex.

Blaine is constantly looking for ways to improve as a person, reinventing himself to move forward. He also likes feeling united with others, which could be why he thrived at Dalton while a member of the Warblers, and had such a hard time at McKinley when he felt isolated.

--- House 9: Pisces ---

The ninth house is faith, travel, and philosophy.

Blaine might have a very nebulous relationship with religion and faith. This placement makes me think he would be agnostic.

--- House 10/Midheaven: Aries ---

The Midheaven is public image, achievements, and career. In the book analogy, this is the height of the plot.

Here is Blaine's natural confidence, especially when combined with his sun sign also being Aries. Having his sun AND MC in Aries makes him almost overly confident, very driven, and naive to a baffling degree.

This also can manifest as immaturity and naivety in career, since Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. We don't really see much of Blaine in his career, but we do see him in college, where he clings to Kurt (also influenced by his 5th house placement). I imagine that, while he is very driven and ambitious, getting kicked out of NYADA for failing grades really humbled him. Fear of failure is big with Aries, and he likely held on to such a big failure for a long time to keep from straying again.

--- House 11: Taurus ---

The eleventh house represents hopes and dreams, close friendships, collective goals, and financial success.

Blaine easily makes friends and brings a sense of stability to his relationships with friends. He is often the rock that Tina clings to in seasons 4 and 5, and he is happy to support Sam and build him back up when he's feeling low about his body image.

Blaine has a realistic vision for the future, likely looking forward to a nice domestic-bliss life.

--- House 12: Gemini ---

The twelfth house is intuition, the hidden self, and secrecy.

Blaine likely dwells on his past. He also needs occasional solitude for introspection. He also has an active imagination.

This might contribute to his difficulty in expressing himself as well.

Finally, the house placements of the planets!

Sun in 10: strong initiative, natural leader, confident. Naive, immature, impulsive

Moon in 3: intellectual, highly detail-oriented, perfectionist

Mercury in 9: studious, curious, loves connecting with people

Venus in 10: charming, loves his vintage aesthetic, overly concerned with appearance

Mars in 9: adventurous, can be prone to conflict when he encounters different viewpoints that clash with his (ie Sam and his stripper dance moves lol)

Jupiter in 3: easily acclimates to new environments, also his older brother likely would've been overprotective.

Saturn in 8: strong desire to conquer his fears, but also karmic lessons on trust.

Uranus in 6: innovative approach to daily life, career changes likely

Neptune in 7: idealism, deep emotional connection with his partners, heightened sensitivity in relationships.

So that's Blaine's birth chart! I did not go over aspects as this is long enough, and I also skipped the asteroids like Lilith and Chiron.

Basic overview:

Blaine is charming and ambitious, easy to get along with, kind of a lot to handle in a relationship, and prone to dramatics, naivety, and daydreaming. He has an eye for detail, and is very driven by his emotions. He is a natural leader, but prefers to lift up his teammates and work as equals rather than be above them in any capacity.

I decided to participate in digitaltober and Inktober and at the same time tell more about my circus OC! :3

Topic one: "First day" x "Backpack"

As I said earlier, when Xaler got into the digital world, she couldn't understand for a long time that this wasn't just a "very realistic game", so here she admires the realistic graphics of the game (yeah, very realistic, especially the bugs)) Although, when did that ever stop me!😂)

Well, yes, I decided to use the backpack theme in an unconventional way, so Bubble refers to Dora the explorer!

And yes, since this is a warm-up, I decided to make a sketch in pencil (according to the rules of Inktober, this is also allowed)

Topic 2: "The Tent" x "Discover"

Xaler found a room with a liminal pool. Since she doesn't experience the uncanny valley effect (by the way, this is an irl fact about me - I don't experience it either😁), this room with pools became a secret place for her where she can rest and relax in a peaceful (for her) atmosphere to the sounds of vaporwave!~

Painted the pool with watercolors! :3

Haven't used it for a long time!

P.S: Decided to catch the last train again. I found this flashmob too late, but since it has already become a tradition for me to participate in Drawlloween and Inktober in November, I decided not to miss the opportunity to participate in it! 😁

After all, thanks to this, I came up with the idea of the Halloweenmas holiday, so I decided to participate now!

And yes, I drew both days today, because yesterday I was busy, and in general lately I've been on the road a lot, so I decided to make Inktober in the hardcore on paper!🦾

Good Omens and Sleight Of Hand / The Shell Game

This keeps itching at the back of my mind and I am not entirely sure I've figured it out out yet but here goes…

The shell game theme is explicitly laid out from the very beginning in S1, as far as the baby swap is concerned. But even before that, God describes her/their "ineffable game" as playing poker in the dark with an inscrutable dealer and no confirmation of what the rules might be. 🤔 sounds less like an actual card game and more like 3-card monty…. aka The Shell Game.

We see that 3-moving-parts pattern again at the apex of the action when we've got 3 different teams simultaneously but separately trying to avert Armageddon, not sure which, if any, will succeed. Then in the denouement when A and C "choose their faces wisely" we see a 2-card version of this same misdirection technique. Sleight of hand, the truth hidden in plain sight yet again. In S2 the game continues, becoming ineffably subtle as it goes along. Gabriel is hidden in plain sight as Jim, A&C performing what they think is a "surreptitious" miracle (a little sleight of hand) … of course the magnitude of what they do is far beyond what they're aware of. (Sort of like all the times Aziraphale bungles his magic tricks when he's too excited or nervous.) And three parallel couples spiral toward only one happily ever after.

Then the minisodes!

The Job example is the most obvious, Crowley hides the goats and children in plain sight by transforming them. (Am I the only one who was squealing "She turned me into a newt!....I got better." ? The Monty Python references are too good! ) then Aziraphale and he performed another illusion when they brought them back as "new" children right under the Archangels' noses.

And of course there’s 1941 and the magic act. But there are blink-and-you’ll-miss-it clues here too. Aziraphale claims to have fooled Nefertiti with the shell game. He hilariously mangles the rings and several other magic tricks when Crowley is the audience to be "fooled" by the trick, but flawlessly performs the picture swap and the bullet catch when he isn’t trying to show off to Crowley. He’s actually quite good at deception/misdirection when he’s focused on it. (and who among us can focus with Antony J Crowly looking like he did in 1941?! Is it hot in here? anyway…)

Aziraphale might have a glass face, but he’s got steady hands. One might even argue that his flustered, anxious demeanor in front of Head Office Personnel helps conceal his courage and determination. We certainly get to see that come out when the chips are down, don’t we?! See also his badassery in the face of the demon Thriller flashmob, taking control of the arguing factions in episode 6, and in S1 there's his standing up to Gabriel & Belzebub in the end, to Crowley( "we can't give up now"), his interactions with Adam that follow. Principality and Guardian of the Eastern Gate indeed. Those aren’t jobs for a pushover. And I’m fairly sure Crowley sees this about him from the start.

BUT! What about Angel-Crowley? What was that about beyond the obvious meet-cute and giving context to the Metajerk's offer/threat? It shows us Crowley's true nature in its unguarded form, how he was before all his trauma and disillusionment. What he hides in plain sight ALL THE TIME (only Aziraphale sees through his masks and calls him out on it over and over again.)

The most puzzling part of S2 for me was the Edinburgh excursion. It doesn't work as a meaningful part to Aziraphale investigating the mystery, because Aziraphale doesn't really find anything useful out. Of course Gabriel was in the pub, they already suspected that. But there are Clues! (pardon me for pronouncing the capital letter) the bit about the Masons was a blink-and- you'll-miss-it moment, and the story moves on so quickly to the minisode we don't get a chance to consider it. Sounds a bit like the shell game again doesn't it? Admittedly, I know next to nothing about freemasonry other than it is a very old organization, it is notoriously secretive, and has both Christian and Occult associations insofar as it's imagery goes. A quick Google search also turned up Edinburgh as a historically significant chapter of Masonry and involved in an ideological/practical schism within the group. I don't have the bandwidth to research this fully, but I'll be damned 😉 if there isn't something going on with this. A secret society that operates in plain sight of the general public.

Similarly with the references to The Book of Life / Extreme Sanctions. Brought up in brief, vaguely ominous ways, but always the action moves on very fast afterward as if to draw attention away…

Then there's the flashback to 1827. This one is Peculiar. It’s the only time we get a flashback narrated from a specific point of view, it’s straight out of Aziraphale’s diary. This is another blink-and-you'll-miss-it clue. Why use this narrative device now, when it’s never cropped up before? What does it change about how we should be looking at the minisode? At a guess, it at least indicates that we aren’t getting a full, unabridged account of what really happened. The nonchalance of Elspeth and Morag in the face of these Odd Beings abruptly inserting themselves into their lives, getting a tour of their squalid living situation, and doing Odd and Supernatural Things is another giveaway. (Maggie and Nina directly comment on their odd behavior including forgiving a massive debt, asking strange questions, etc as does Amathema in S1 when they give her a ride and the tough-looking man does in S2 when Aziraphale borros and then fixes his phone). Obviously I can't say what Aziraphale left out, or what he might have embellished upon, but that seems significant. What is being hidden in plain sight?? 🤔 We certainly don't know what happened to Crowley when he got dragged to hell, and I doubt very much Aziraphale would have just shrugged his shoulders and went back to London as if he wasn't desperately worried about his boyfriend.

Aziraphale notoriously and consistently lies or omits important details when communicating with others, usually when trying to protect somebody. (I seriously can't list them all here, it would take all day).

And in a parallel blink-and-you'll-miss-it clue, we don't get a direct in-real-time observation of Metajerk's conversion with Aziraphale. We get Aziraphale recounting it to Crowley. Like the dairy, we have no way to be certain what really transpired. Now granted he does seem genuinely happily excited when he interrupts Crowley to tell him about it, but that doesn't mean he isn't leaving *dangerous details* out to protect Crowley. I think that conversation was more sinister and the threats less veiled than he lets on, and he's trying to spin it as a good thing so Crowley doesn't go get himself annihilated trying to protect him.

This leads me to *the breakup*. Much more going on here than meets the eye.

Aziraphale is at first desperately trying to keep Crowley from leaving to keep him under his protection. Then, after the kiss he's clearly THINKING A LOT very rapidly and settles on his sure-fire distancing mechanism. "I forgive you" is what he used in S1 when trying to send Crowley off to safety on his own instead of running away together while he took on the dangerous work of confronting heaven on his own. He knows Crowley and he knows which buttons to push. It conceals his actual feelings by distracting Crowley via angering him. That's why "don't bother" hits different. Crowley knows this move well by now. Aziraphale’s doing it again. That kiss was certainly earth-shattering for him (and all of us!). But It's not just Crowley trying to get him to run away together again (he already tried that).

It also makes it clear they won't be safe together in heaven after all. Not in a place that abhors individuality and earthly pleasures. Snogging with his ex-demon lover wouldn't be any less "irregular" than being friends with a demon was in the eyes of Metajerk. (And both Crowley and he know just how impossible it is for him to withstand that sort of temptation. HE ABSOLUTELY KISSED BACK. tried not to but couldn't resist). So he pushes down his first dozen reactions (somebody give Michael Sheen an award already!) And pushes Crowley away for his own safety. He's struggling and suffering as he does it. He nearly backs out several times. (! Michael effing Sheen's acting is breathtaking!) But two things happen that make him follow through (motivation hidden in plain sight) : Crowley is still there. He can't jeopardize him. And the Metatron names The Second Coming. You see him immediately stiffen. The only thing he has demonstrated - at every turn -that he is more protective over than Crowley is humanity itself. Guardian and Principality.

Which brings me to The Song and The Smile. (OK, so I've been pondering GOS2 for an unhealthy amount of time at this point…but what the hell, I love a good puzzle)

*Their Song* - referenced by Crowley just minutes before - is playing when Crowley starts the Bently. Not playing from the beginning, as if he had the CD in and ready to play. (We see Crowley freeze and take a moment to process what he's hearing, clearly not expecting to hear that.) It starts in the middle AT THE CRITICAL LINES of the refrain. (I'm not even sure it's the first refrain, but we'll save that for someone else to tackle.) So why would this be what Crowley first hears?

Well….as we saw way back on the road-trip to Edinburgh, The Bently plays whatever Aziraphale asks it to (its sentience or lackthereof being interestingly but entirely beside the point.) Now why feature this not once but twice if it isn't significant? Hiding a Clue in plain sight again. You noticed the first and second times it obeyed his music request, but what about the THIRD?! Three card Monty / The Shell Game again! Aziraphale is sending Crowley a message. Hidden in plain sight, when the chips are down and he can't risk tipping his hand to The Metatron. What does he mean by this? Again, probably a lot more than I could speculate, but it's easily read as a reassurance. A statement of love required and a silent "Trust Me", just like he mouthed during the bullet catch. A promise to return.

And finally The Smile.

If you didn't watch Aziraphale's face all the way through the end credits, you'll have missed this clue. Hiding, once again, in plain sight after the episode is technically over. (Michael Effing Sheen people!!) His expressions once again go through a series of changes ending finally in an unsettling, un-Aziraphale-like smile. He's heading into battle, formulating a plan and pouring his mask on to conceal it. To lie to their faces and hide his agenda (and his courage and strength) in plain sight.

Whew, this got a lot longer than I expected. 😅

Welcome back to speedster rambles from user flashdoesahundredyarddash.

The way Manuel refers to Barry through his whole run makes them seem so in love with each other (they are college sweethearts). My headcanon of these two has become of them meeting and becoming really great friends (soon to fall in love). Barry was the one to fall in love first and then Manny fell harder but Barry was so scared of losing Manny both in general and as a friend (this also goes for his sorta 'fake death' but then Manny reveals that he was alive...MANUEL LAGO ILY) ANYWAYS. The two become really good friends and it takes one to drop slow hints but at the same time Barry is trying to figure himself out. You see where I'm leading to??

'what to do when you're questioning your sexuality because of your closest friend and then all of a sudden he looks at you and the moonlight illuminates against his face and then (insert a kiss scene here)'

Going back to the flashback from Barry of the two meeting, it's so sweet. The fact that Barry isn't the party guy and stumbled across this dude and he's all like 'I got you lets go together :) '. YOU BOTH JUST MET, MANUEL?? Flirting with Barry but he doesn't notice but at the same time it makes Barry flustered and happy. Manuel is so generous and sweet to Barry :((

I've never seen anyone react like this but Manuel and Barry, you can obviously tell how comfortable they seemed to be with one another through the flashbacks. The average introvert with his extrovert counterpart

Karaoke Nights. Dance Circles. Drunk Tom Bronson.

After a rather vexing mission involving robot pirate ninja zombies and sharks with freakin’ laser beams on their heads, the elders of the Justice Society told the younger members to take a night for themselves and “just have fun.”

Little did they know that the younglings would follow those words in the best way possible.

Suffice to say, the first annual Justice Society Karaoke Night was going well.

The main meeting room had been temporarily converted to suit the occasion — hanging on the wall was a large white screen and projected onto it were the scrolling lyrics of every song to grace the english-speaking world. Positioned nearby was a microphone, which was hooked up to the speakers that Karen and Michael so graciously set up for the younglings.

The room was loud as the speakers pumped music into the atmosphere. Nate Heywood was singing his heart out while trying not to crush the microphone into dust. The world was surprised to find that Citizen Steel was a major Avril Lavigne fan, but it was certainly not the strangest thing to ever be revealed within the walls of the brownstone.

As he sang, a chaotic trinity consisting of Courtney, Jen, and Maxine had instigated a flashmob/dance battle/mosh pit in the midst of the floor to the rambunctious beat of an early-2000s pop punk song.

And it was glorious.

There was a rule stating that no adult beverages were to be placed in the hands of minors, but Courtney, Jen, and Maxine clearly didn’t need it to have a good time. Their collective fervor was so infectious that nearly every other JSA member had gotten out of their seats to move to the beat.

Despite the human urge to dance being pungent in the night’s atmosphere, Grant felt himself getting overwhelmed.

As fun as the circle looked (even Pieter was awkwardly swaying from side to side) he couldn’t find it in himself to join. It wasn’t that he couldn’t dance, but that all of his attempts to ‘feel the groove’ resembled a dolphin flopping on dry land. It was probably for the best that he spared the world the sight of his sick moves.

After maneuvering his way out of the chaos and avoiding spilling his beer, Grant found himself in the farthest corner of the room. While the music could still be heard, it wasn’t as absurdly deafening as it was in the eye of the storm, something his ears would surely thank him for in the morning.

Standing near the window was another fellow Justice Society member who wasn’t fond of crowds and impromptu dance battles.

Like the rest of her teammates, Jesse was clad in casual clothing, apparently seeing an old Mets jersey as a perfect Karaoke Night outfit. She leaned against the wall and sipped white wine from a styrofoam cup like it was a gold chalice. All in all, a fairly average sight for the one Jessica Belle Chambers.

Grant approached her little corner of the room and leaned against the windowsill. “Didn’t expect to see you here,” he said, lifting his mask up just enough to take a sip of his beer.

“I’d say the same to you,” Jesse replied. She gave him a playful smirk, which in Chambers-language meant that she considered him a friend.

“What can I say?” Grant shrugged. “Sonia likes to sing.”

“And dance, apparently.”

The two looked ahead to the first ever JSA-sanctioned rave. Sonia stood near Rick, seemingly having the time of her life as she took the phrase ‘put your hands in the air like you just don’t care’ to heart.

Rick himself was no slouch either. It seemed that the Man of the Hour had endless bouts of energy even without the power of Miraclo. His signature move appeared to be some variation of hip swiveling — if the superhero business didn’t work out for him, then Rick could definitely pursue a prosperous career as a male entertainer.

Before Grant could witness Rick’s moves for too long and forever change the way he saw Hourman, he turned to Jesse and asked: “You talk to any of the Titans lately?”

“Donna and I had coffee last week,” Jesse answered. “We met up in the Village, it was nice.” From the way she smiled and sipped her wine, it was clear that the small meeting had resonated with her even now. “What about you? Still talk to Roy?”

Grant shrugged his shoulders. “Sometimes,” he replied. “League duty keeps his hands pretty full.”

Jesse nodded. “Well, if he ever wants a change of pace he could always join the Society,” she suggested jokingly. “We could use a few more Titans around here.”

Grant rolled his eyes, even though they were mostly hidden by his mask and the dark. For a moment, the pair simply sat back and watched their teammates have the time of their lives. With Nate’s turn having ended, the next singer was just stepping up to the mic in front of the projector screen, that person being Tom.

Tom Bronson was more than a fan of music, as anyone who overheard him shower singing could. Grant knew that his friend had taken it up as half a hobby and half a career. Even though the standard rate for NYC bar gigs was laughably low, he played piano whenever he could and prided himself on introducing his friends to bands they probably never heard of.

Sober Tom loved music that was fast, complicated, required two drummers, and had sections filled with jarring modulations and unusual time signatures.

Drunk Tom, however, had an unexpected fondness for ABBA.

Jesse and Grant remained in their corner of the room while the music revved up and Tom rocked the stage like it was Eurovision 1974. It was beautiful.

Slyly, Grant pulled out his phone and began recording the historical event in front of them. The JSA archives would definitely benefit from the documentation.

When Jesse noticed Grant playing the role of cameraman, she let out a chuckle. “Not singing?” she asked idly.

“I don’t sing,” Grant affirmed in a stern tone. “And you can’t make me.”

“Wasn’t planning to, Grant.”

After getting enough footage of Tom’s incredible audition for Mamma Mia on Broadway, Grant stopped recording and quickly uploaded the clip to the official JSA group chat. Since most of the logs depicted Maxine and Courtney’s very surreal 3AM musings, he was sure that someone would appreciate the change of pace.

After slipping his phone back into his pocket, Grant eyed Jesse. “I take it you don’t either?”

“I’m just here for Rick,” Jesse explained, nodding her head towards the center of the main floor.

The fact that she could stand at ease while her husband danced like an ensemble member of Magic Mike: The Musical meant that the two had a tremendously strong marriage. Grant — on the other hand — wondered if hydrochloric acid was enough to cleanse his eyes from the sight of Rick’s sweet moves.

Was it too late to run to Titans Compound and beg them to take him back?

“I’m not one for singing in public,” Jesse soon spoke, thankfully breaking her colleague out of his train of thought. “Except for like… birthdays and stuff.”

Grant nodded and lightly punched her on the shoulder. “Right there with ya, Jess.”

Then in a flash, the pair of former Titans who definitely didn’t sing were approached by one of the willing participants of the first ever JSA-endorsed rave. Sonia rushed up to Grant with a sudden burst of speed he didn’t know she had in her.

Linking her arm around his, Sonia pulled her beau onto the dance floor with all her might. “Come on!”

Due to being caught off guard (and Sonia being freakishly strong despite her size), Grant stumbled a bit as he followed his significant other, dropping his drink as she guided him to the eye of the storm.

Jesse let out a laugh as Grant awkwardly joined the flow of the floor. It was as clear he had no idea what he was doing, but flailing his arms like a confused octopus seemed to replicate dancing just enough to let him become one with the rhythm. At least Sonia didn’t seem to mind.

Looking down to her cup, Jesse swirled what remained of her wine and drank the rest up. The second she emptied the vessel she felt a hand gently grasping her wrist. Looking up Jesse met the eyes of Rick, who immediately began guiding her to the main space with a grin.

“The night’s young, Hon!” he cheered on.

Like Grant before her, Jesse dropped her cup, yet went with the flow with a smile on her face and joined her significant other onto the dance floor.

One hundred days after the military seized power in Myanmar, the nun who pleaded for protesters on her knees in the street says the coup has cast a pall of fear and depression over the country.

The image of Sister Ann Rose Nu Tawng kneeling in the dust, arms spread, begging police not to shoot “the children” went viral in March as an uprising swelled in Myanmar.

Today, the 45-year-old nun works in a clinic in Myanmar’s northernmost Kachin state, tending to patients injured by security forces, sickened from stress, and even those who try to kill themselves.

“With the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and brutal actions of the military, there are more people who feel depressed and want to commit suicide,” she told AFP.

“People are living in fear and they feel hopeless.”

On Tuesday, 100 days will have passed since the generals made their lightning power grab in the early morning of February 1, ousting and detaining civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

The period has seen Myanmar plunge into chaos as the army struggles to control widespread opposition to its rule.

Around 780 civilians have been killed, according to a local monitoring group, as security forces have sought to suppress near-daily protests with brutal crackdowns and live rounds.

While praised for her bravery months ago, Sister Ann Rose Nu Tawng said she thinks instead of the youths who are still fighting.

“They are sacrificing their lives for their future.”

Night after night, soldiers and police raid homes to arrest suspected activists — both protesters and those taking part in the civil disobedience movement that has crippled the state’s ability to function.

Despite the dangers, the movement persists, fuelled by a young generation who came of age since democracy dawned and the country began opening up a decade ago.

“We want to stand on the right side of history,” said a protester in Myanmar’s former capital Yangon.

‘It’s not going to quiet down’

The bloody intensity of the crackdowns has ebbed in recent weeks — partly as demonstrators have switched to flashmob tactics to avoid the risk of being shot.

But if the violence in Myanmar’s urban centres has slowed, clashes between the military and ethnic rebel armies in its border regions have intensified.

“It’s not going to quiet down,” said Yangon-based political analyst Khin Zaw Win.

“The regime thinks that everything will be okay by June, but it is a delusion.”

In eastern Karen state, the Karen National Union — who are sheltering dissidents fleeing to their territory — has captured military posts and been hit with multiple air strikes in return.

Clashes in northern Kachin state have also ticked up, and in a dramatic display of the rebel forces’ capabilities, last week the Kachin Independence Army shot down a military helicopter.

Several groups have come out in support of the anti-junta movement, even providing basic training to the young protesters.

But so far, calls for the disparate rebel factions to unite into a “federal army” have not borne fruit.

A group of ousted lawmakers, who set themselves up as a shadow “National Unity Government” (NUG), announced the creation of a “people’s defence force” to protect civilians from the military.

Details are scant and the NUG, whose members are in hiding, has not shown itself able to wield much influence.

But the junta on Saturday designated it a “terrorist group”, blaming it for “bombing, arson, manslaughter and intimidation to disrupt state administrative machinery”.

‘The people did not choose this’

So far neither calls for restraint nor United States, European Union and British sanctions have shown signs of deflecting the generals off their chosen course.

A summit of regional bloc ASEAN last month — attended by junta leader Min Aung Hlaing — yielded no more than a “five-point consensus” calling for dialogue, an end to violence and the appointment of a special envoy.

But even this limited achievement was undermined days later, when the junta said it would heed “suggestions” only when “the situation returns to stability”.

On the global stage, hard-hitting UN-level sanctions have been stymied by China and Russia, who say they would be counterproductive.

Myanmar’s economy — reeling as workers nationwide down tools rather than cooperate under military rule — is expected to contract by a staggering 10 per cent in 2021, according to the World Bank.

And the UN Development Programme warned the combined effect of the pandemic and the coup turmoil could see nearly half of the population living in poverty by next year.

“The military has chosen the wrong moment to launch a coup and to face a civil war,” said analyst Khin Zaw Win, adding that they have “lost all public support”.

“The people did not choose this. It is the generals who did and they will pay the price.”
