One of the few funny things of being obsessed with something that is literally out of print and not available to stream anywhere (FMA 03) is that all the bootleg discs on ebay have great reviews. Literally like "five stars! best bootleg ive seen!"

Now, Jeff Ibach, while apparently a writer for sourcebooks, appears to not actually be the author of this sourcebook. As near as I can tell, the text actually seems to come, at least in part, from a review. I can't find the review, it's entirely probable that the site the review was posted on no longer exists, given how long ago the first version of Alchemy & Herbalists had to have come out for an anime released 20 years ago to have pulled the text from a review of it. But I do see endorsement quotes on all of the listings for the book, and there is one from Ibach. So that's probably why his name got pasted there instead of the actual author, Steven Schend.

fma 03: the reviews are in

ending - sucks ass. made me sad. felt inconclusive and lame as hell

the fighting: i can’t lie it was fucking beautiful? i don’t remember any of the brotherhood fights being this breathtaking like i rewatched a bunch of them actually. the final blow to greed? the way got got envy into that headlock? and then took out his knee?

the openings and endings: 100% more memorable that brotherhood’s openings and endings. one of the most enjoyable parts tbh i caught myself singing one at work the other day

BH rewatch episode 16

Hey, here’s another FMA Brotherhood rewatch. This one is called Footsteps of a Comrade-in-arms and it’s all about Maes Hughes. Honestly not too much really happens in this episode.

So, it begins with Ed and co. arriving in Central and Ling quickly disappears to the dismay of Lan Fan and Fuu. He muses that something feels off about the country. Lan Fan is especially worried that he’s in trouble. Next time we see him he’s collapsed again and gets picked up by some soldiers who decide to arrest him as some sort of illegal immigrant. Yeah. Ling, prince of Xing, gets himself arrested because he was being an idiot. Still waiting for his character to improve. 

Barry the chopper isn’t even being restrained anymore, just watched over by Falman. Why does he put up with this? It seems like he’s helping them now! It’s sort of ridiculous. 

Envy is spying on the military, specifically Mustang through use of his shapeshifting powers. Lust is using Havoc to get info on Mustang. They are worried about him though I’m not sure what they think he might do. 

But the main part of this episode is on Ed, Al and Winry finding out the Hughes is dead. I love how no one is able to tell them. Armstrong’s been quiet, Mustang actually lies to them about it and Ross ends up revealing it quite accidentally but then fills them in. Winry finds out from Gracia. 

So, we go through them feeling sad and, in Ed’s case, guilty. He blames himself for sharing about the Homunculi with him. Gracia reassures him that she doesn’t hold Ed responsible when he opens up to her. She and her daughter are still grieving as well though. Winry actually bursts into tears towards the end though Ed stays dry-eyed. 

This stuff is all okay, I guess. It’s a bit of downtime the three of them needed though its all how you’d expect. (I feel like 03 would have tried to crush its characters with feelings at this sort of scene. I imagine it would have had Ed only find out about Hughes when he hears about Maria Ross’s arrest and then his grief would be mixed with more anger and confusion as he tried to deal with his emotions while the plot forces him into action. If Ross had kept Hughes fate a secret from Ed too then maybe Ed would even begin doubting her. Meanwhile his anger at Mustang would be a little fiercer even before the events of the next episode.)

Sorry for the digression but eh, I might as well attempt to express why 03 works for me so well where I care less about Brotherhood. Truth is, I love its angst and abilities to push its character emotionally while the plot progresses unrelentingly. In Brotherhood, I find it gives its characters a lot more breathing room and can focus on its plot without character emotions taking precedence. It’s a personal preference, I hope you realise. I’ll try to keep any comparisons infrequent though!

So, after reminiscing about Hughes, we switch to the Homunculi who come up with their plan to distract Mustang from their plots. They get Maria Ross arrested on suspicion of his murder. The episode ends on this note.

My overall thoughts? I liked this episode more than the last. Humour is much more restrained and some seriously good plot points are being set up. Envy is one of my favourites and seeing him cause mischief is delightful. That said, it’s still essentially a breather, resolving some of the emotional baggage from Hughes death before leading into real action.

2021 watchlist review

So, just to finish putting 2021 behind me, here are the top anime I watched last year in no particular order. Also, I felt like talking about them. Long post ahead.

Full Metal Alchemist (both Brotherhood and 2003)

I loved both, but they're very different anime. '03 is a war story; FMAB is a battle anime that features war. If I had to make a value judgement, I'd say I enjoyed '03 better (though I did watch it before FMAB) but FMAB has more rewatch value, if only because '03 needs to be watched more or less in order and starting from the beginning makes it better.

I liked the way '03 characterized Mustang and Kimblee better out of the two; FMAB had the more satisfying and better paced ending. Also, FMAB has Ling Yao. I will always love FMAB for simply having Ling Yao. '03 wins in the "making me feel things category" because I really loved how they handled the origin of the homunculi and the story it tried to tell about human arrogance; FMAB wins best romance because I will never get over Mustang and Hawkeye, especially in the episode where they fight Envy for the last time. Jean Havoc remains my beloved no matter the adaptation.

I'd say FMA is one of those anime that was just, as a whole, extremely well-written and animated. I continue to have very mixed feelings about Roy Mustang.

Mars Red

I love this anime a normal amount, I swear. This is totally not my favorite anime of this year hands fucking down, no sir. I totally do not think about all of the characters from it daily.

MDZS Season 3

NO THOUGHTS ONLY HOW MUCH I LOVE a. WangXian, b. Xue Yang, c. the way they adapted Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao. I am very sad about how it's over, and I'm also very sad about how dirty they did Jiang Cheng, but everything else about it is glorious.

Interspecies Reviewers

I'M STONE COLD SEROUS WHEN I SAY INTERSPECIES REVIEWERS BEATS A LOT OF NON-ECCHI ANIME OUT OF THE PARK. If you're okay with seeing tits during a slice of life fantasy anime that talks frankly about sex and BDSM and is also genuinely hilarious, go watch it. It's so good.

Dr. Stone

I am very much a raging science nerd and let me tell you, this has got to be my favorite of all the ways science gets portrayed in anime. Dr. Stone is so obviously a love letter to STEM--it shows science as something hopeful and exciting, and the people who love it as all sorts of folk. It's hilarious, heartwarming, and incredibly entertaining. I binged this one in a few days.

AND SCIENCE PORTRAYAL ASIDE? THE FRIENDSHIPS N THS ANIME SOMEHOW MAKE "uwu power of friendship deus ex machina" CONVINCING. I love it.

Jujutsu Kaisen

I usually try to stay away from anime that gets a lot of hype, but man, Kaisen lives up to it. The animation is great, the characters are genuinely so loveable, and sometimes I look at Team Gojo and think that this is what Team Seven could have been. It's a little bit too big brain for me sometimes, especially the power system, but it's lovely all the same.

Hakata Tonkatsu Ramens

Got recommended this by @electrick-indigo! It's, like, what if you took found family and then did found family in a setting where murder is just...a thing that happens regularly. I adore the main character, and he's gnc as fuck. Plus the whole anime has the vibes of BSD in its earlier arcs, which I love and adore.

Promare

COMFORT MOVIE COMFORT MOVIE COMFORT MOVIE

It's a surprisingly nuanced look at societal oppression wrapped up in pretty neon colors and mecha battles. And gay. There's so much gay. I adore this movie.

Umibe no Etranger

It's an extremely good movie about two queer dudes falling in love, and the manga sequel "L'etranger du Zephyr" is just as good. I am just...very attached to Mio and Shun. They do a good job of realistically portraying queer romance and the way relationships can evolve over time, particularly in the sequel. No complaints about this one.

Heaven's Official Blessing

It's very soft and is my favorite brand of supernatural mystery solving. Like, In/Spectre wishes it had romance and mystery this good.

The Way of the Househusband

It's hilarious and a really good pick-me-up.

Dragon Pilot

Ah yes, a cute anime about girls that pilot dragons by getting vored. It does not make more sense in context. Watch it anyway because all the characters are so endearing.

Horimiya

A romance anime that I really enjoyed! It's just teenagers being cute and in love!

Fuse: Memories of a Hunter Girl

This one is an interesting story about furries and a girl with a bazooka. It feels a little bit like a fever dream, in retrospect.

In honor of disability month and the FMA 20 year anniversary I wanted to address some Thoughts™️ about the series.

It's not often you see a disabled protagonist in media where their disability is integral to the story without taking up their entire character, even more so with anime. Yet, Fullmetal Alchemist has not just one disabled Protagonist, but two. The Elric Brothers are an exemplary representation of disability in media that I find myself reflecting on often as a disabled person myself. If you haven't completed the manga or Brotherhood, skip this as it will be brimming with spoilers.

(Mangahood will be my point of reference because while 03 is good on its own merits it's not as fresh within my immediate memory, and I am far less familiar with it. Keep this in mind, I've watched FMAB 10 and a half times whereas I've finished 03 only once years ago.)

The story highlights their disabilities immediately, Edward being a double amputee and Alphonse being without his ENTIRE body, only having the senses of proprioception, sight, and hearing left. Yet, despite this being key to the story and an integral part of their characterization, it is only one facet of their motivations and doesn't take center in the narrative, which is refreshing. It's not inherently negative to make a narrative centered on the characters' disabilities, but often this model of a story goes very wrong very fast and starts to feel hollow (no pun intended). FMA avoids this by making their disabilities a clear part of the plot and their motivations without allowing it to consume the entire story, so the Elric Brothers don't suffer the "my disability is all of my character" problem that many disabled characters are relegated to in a vast portion of media, all while being strong and competent.

Recap:

The brothers wished to revive their mother, but their good intentions cannot change the atrocity of their mistake, Truth makes this abundantly clear from the start. Edward loses his leg first, a punishment for "stepping" into God's shoes and transgressing the place of humans in their world. Alphonse loses his entire body, unable to feel any warmth or simple comforts like food and rest, when all he wanted was to feel the warmth and comfort of his mother's embrace again. At first, Alphonse's entire being is consumed by the gate, but Edward acts immediately, refusing to lose his little brother and refusing to allow his arrogance in this plan to cause his brother's death for only following his lead. Edward gives his right arm to have the gate give back Alphonse's soul, and stated clearly in his panic that he'd give his entire self to save Alphonse if that's what it would take, but Truth took his dominant arm only, showing something akin to mercy, although the character of Truth is capriciously strict and hard to describe as "merciful".

Through giving up his right arm, Edward regains his Right Hand Man, his little brother and best friend. His only remaining family, who he feels responsible for protecting in the absence of their parents. He felt immediately that he'd made a grave mistake, instantly full of regret as he realized the gate had taken his brother. In that moment he was willing to give anything to take it back and undo the suffering his arrogance caused his brother, yet Alphonse was still to suffer more to come. Ed tied Alphonse's disembodied soul to one of Hohenheim's collected suits of armor, managing to at least keep his brother alive in some way. One could say that Alphonse's punishment functioned as a secondary punishment for Edward, showing him how easily his hubris could have cost him what he has left in his obsession with regaining what they'd lost, their mother. A very clear symbolic reminder of the weight of his actions and how he'd misled his brother in his own naive ignorance. Even in giving another limb away to drag his brother's soul back out of the gate, he couldn't offer enough to bring him back intact. Thus is the law of equivalent exchange.

Now that we've reviewed some of that basic symbolism and the motifs the story draws upon with limbs and body parts in relation to characters, let's move on to each individual brother and break it down, shall we?

Edward Elric is a very realistic protagonist, this is one thing a majority of us familiar with this series can agree upon. He feels like a believable teen boy, with layers of complexity to his character while also showing arrogance and immaturity that is unsurprising at his age. He expresses unwillingness to kill and avoidance of unjust violence from the beginning, and has a strong moral code after the ordeal of committing the taboo.

In some characters his cocky personality would typically become grating, yet the story explains in itself why he is this way, then builds upon this to develop him into an incredibly mature character who is willing to admit when he's absolutely wrong and adapts to new information and context for the crisis unfolding around him as it comes, even if he remains crass. This arrogance is shown from the start to be a manifestation of insecurity, self loathing, and repressed guilt. Edward is a logic driven person, he has a very unique thought process, which is where my interpretation of him as autistic comes in. Edward's awkward social demeanor, somewhat abrasive and cold approach to some, and his trouble coping with nonsensical societal structures all stand out in this way. Furthermore he clearly shows hyperfixation, hyperactivity, special interest, and infodumping behaviors that are all too familiar. He's picky with food (*cough* the milk thing), has very little filter and speaks his mind bluntly even if this can warrant conflicting responses, yet at the same time struggles with vulnerable emotions, and he is frustrated when his own routine or itinerary are interrupted by forces beyond his control. All of these things Scream autism with comorbid ADHD. Many traits are shared between the brothers, and I'm quite certain they're both on the autism spectrum based on behavioral patterns. Neurodivergence aside, Edward's physical disabilities are undeniable.

Despite his bratty persona, Edward is fundamentally kind and uncharacteristically gentle and soft around the edges for a shonen protagonist in many ways. He cries openly on many occasions even if he struggles talking about his trauma and burdens in words at times, he feels pain, grief, and compassion so intensely it throws him into action on a regular basis in the narrative. In this way he's also a fantastic example of non-toxic masculinity (though in other ways he has displayed more toxic traits, he's just a kid). He acts on his heart, even if he's led by his mind and logic in most things. His humanity, value for life, and care for others will always win over his logic, and he shows a sense of personal responsibility for doing the right thing even if it harms him in the process. Ed is clearly shown having ghost pains in his lost limbs which is honestly an interesting detail to include, I don't think I've ever seen that aspect of amputation shown in media aside from FMA. It's also shown that when Ed's automail arm breaks this is a HUGE problem for him, but he's also shown to be very good at working around this in difficult circumstances. He doesn't become completely helpless, even if majorly weakened.

Alphonse is an extremely lovable and compassionate boy, brimming with altruism and care for others. Even in his noncorporeal state he pursues a better future and he's not helpless by any stretch. Edward clearly states Alphonse is the superior fighter for example, and it's not just because of his armor body being so large. He's *talented*, that's a fact. Al is every bit as clever and capable as Ed, moreso in some ways, and I love that about his character *because* he's so clearly disabled. He has no sense of pain, he is completely incapable of sleeping, he can't eat, can't relax or find comfort, he can only exist and think. This causes him to overthink in all his time alone, this is debilitating. He clearly is absolutely sick of the loneliness this causes, and he often feels helpless though he's not. He has doubts and fears that consume him in relation to his armor body, he questions his own personhood, even. Yet, Edward is stubborn and staunch in affirming that no matter what he's dealing with, he is fundamentally still a human being that is loved and irreplaceable. Alphonse is powerful and his body gives him some advantages, but it also sets him back, and the brothers know this even when others claim Alphonse's state is somehow a good thing. I have hEDS, a disability that comes with advantages as well as the major downsides, so I can understand and relate to Alphonse here. I too am told my disability is a boon because of flexibility and because I'm less likely to fracture bones, but I'm twice as likely to injure my ligaments and joints, which people ignore.

The brothers are both disabled, both flawed, both show weaknesses, but they are competent, determined, and strong in their own right. They are rounded characters that exist for more than to be pitied or condescended to by able bodied characters around them. They put their entire being in everything that they do no matter what that is, and they don't know the meaning of giving up. These traits that they're made of truly make them a shining example of disability in protagonists for others to look to for reference when writing their own disabled characters.

Even though by the end Edward has regained one limb and Al has regained his body, this also doesn't just deus ex machina reverse their disability or make it go away. It's clear that Alphonse's body is weak and has to be rehabilitated upon recovery, and Edward is still missing his leg and bears the scars and pieces of the port from his automail arm. They weren't suddenly made able bodied upon recovering these things, they reclaimed what was lost through struggle and grit, but the narrative didn't give the impression that their disability in itself was something to be fixed, which is important. They wanted to recover their bodies, but this doesn't erase the effects of their disability.

It was about Edward atoning for leading Alphonse into their mistake and saving his brother from suffering further, it was about them proving they can keep moving forward no matter what, not about getting rid of their disability in itself or putting themselves down because of the disabilities. This, to me, as a mentally and physically disabled viewer, is so important. They achieve their goal, but this doesn't in any way erase or undo the effects of their initial losses, they find ways to adapt and move on but they're still affected and still disabled. They always will be. That can be so important to see in comfort characters, and as a disabled individual who's had both brothers as comfort characters since I was a child, their impact on my own journey is surprisingly tangible for fiction.

ok but alter-world ling meeting ed in our world (post-CoS.) like i love the 2003 series with all my heart but one thing i really miss when watching is the xing gang. PLUS I really wanna know how 03/cos ed would interact with ling (plus im a shameful edling shipper). you've made me think about this for the past couple days nonstop and i honestly am not mad about it.

ive considered alter ling ending up with edward a lot, because i also love edling. i dont know the specifics of history but ling would be in a tight spot being in europe during the world wars. i dont like to overthink it because its actual history im inserting fantastical fictional characters into (like itd be different if they were historical fiction characters) and that makes me feel weird. I like to keep it vague and still somewhat removed from reality (the movies version of earth still was somewhat fantastical so i dont have to be entirely historically accurate and realistic either) when headcanoning the fma characters in ww1-ww2 times.

but yeah i imagine them running into ling somewhere and continuing to be always moving and on the run.

staying true to xing lings goals and aspirations, i think earth ling would be chasing some kind of myth or legend to give him a better life as well. like the baddies from cos (i honestly forget their name. was it the thule society?) he’s caught up in a fantasy. searching for this magical other world. bumps into ed and al by chance (or is found passed out on a street) and maybe overhears a discussion and then tries to get information from them. bonds with the group and is assimilated into their found family

so their dynamic would be similar. with ed being less racist than fmab ed for a start lmao. ling eats all their food, ed yells at him but has good reason (hes not rich in this world food is more scarce for them). ling is like “ive heard a legend of another world” and the groups reactions are enough to make ling suspicious and stick around. ling and ed bicker and trade insults in good fun. ed has already completed his arc but ling is still in his (greed and willing to do anything to achieve his goal, but also can be lazy and shirk things off and get others to do the work for him) so that adds a layer, where ed is a more mature and balanced person at this point, while ling still has those traits that 03 deems immature.

id have to do more thinking about how a relationship between them would develop, id def have to review lings character again since too much time has passed since the last time i really analyzed him. but itd be interesting for sure! i love the idea of alter ling joining the party!

1. i will not write with anyone below the age of 18. i am here to write with friends, close mutuals and selective on fandom pals. safe to say i will be highly selective in general. 

2. i am not unfamiliar at all with fullmetal alchemist, as it is at the top of animanga for me in terms of storytelling in that field, and i have seen both 2003 and the canon / manga-based brotherhood of 2009. my portrayal will be /primarily/ based off of first and foremost the manga / brotherhood. that hardly means i won’t be reblogging /  reviewing 03 as i love both.

 i will reblog / write 03 content / have an 03 verse / conqueror of shamballa too, but you’ll 97 percent of the time see fma:b content! i do love them both!

also, i will be incorporating own personal headcanons, as i will sprinkle them into writing.

3. pinned posts / asks / headcanons / were made by saphyrus . please don’t steal. my psds i used years ago, so i don’t know the sources on tumblr anymore, but the psd coloring is #4 from animeresources and a mix of idclwyld  and the blockquote editing was done by belacedia. do not steal or imitate. manga psd by @acgorecs​ . and second psd template by @farginen​ !

4. the usual rules of basic decency apply. no transphobia, homophobia, bigotry, discrimination, petty drama wars or problematic behavior or you know, not being humane or at least practicing humanity. if i see it i’m hard-blocking and not looking back. i have no time for that, frankly, and won’t have it here whatsoever. 

5. shipping is not the focal point as most of the series edward is underage.  i generally tend to follow the canon ending for him, which i will not force, but his relationship with winry, who he harbors feelings for is pretty blatantly the person he is interested in, and the one who i can see most involved with him in terms of a romantic relationship, due to how natural it feels writing wise and how subtle it is also. if you don’t ship it that’s fine with me just respect my preferences / how the story unfolds as i do tend to follow canon for fma manga.

this does not mean if a winry interacts with me that it starts with romantic implications on my edward’s end. 

IMPORTANT: in terms of shipping with winry i will only do romantic threads / relationships with her with with a lot of development and not just every winry in sight, i have to have a connection and a shared vision with the mun.  i really want to interact with every fma chara good OR bad. not just the ones that make his life better. but worse, too.

so, basically, that is the character that ed has feelings for, both in canon and in my portrayal. shipping obviously, is neither this blog nor edward’s priority, all the same. i don’t really see this changing, as like i said, the priority is not to ship but to explore edward’s whole entirety of relationships, and as of now i am ship exclusive with a winry as is, but every type of bond is absolutely welcomed here!

6. i am first observe then see if i click with a character. for example, my only request is have it make sense. edward for example is a literal prodigy, a genius in a 1 to 5 ratio in ten million people on the planet. it would not make much sense if every person had lightning fast speed / skill like edward or his brother do to just magically do things just for the sake of them being op or having power.

 i want both the surreal and i want realism in my writing and in who interact with, and also respect of the cast who has a wide variety of skills and intelligences unique to them just as important as edward himself!

this does not mean i won’t interact with them, by any stretch, i just want substance, and quite frankly i think ocs are just as canon as ‘public ocs’ aka edward who is arakawa’s oc lbr! for any character tl;dr? have it make sense, especially considering how rare alchemists of ed and alphonse’s character are and that is entirely narratively intentional. they are on an entirely different level by canon in intelligence, capability, adaptability etc. tl;dr they’re v talented and one is a gremlin unfortunately. but! they are still only 15-14 most of the story so that’s something also to keep in mind. one thing i love about fullmetal alchemist is that no one is impervious to well, anything! so i really do like reading about characters with verses for it or are handmade which i have massive respect for. you do your thing!

7. on that note do not underestimate edward by any means. due to being a genius / prodigy, but above all his sheer willpower and ability to learn at a lightning speed, he is an absolute threat despite his youth and has proven it by passing  the state alchemist exam as only a child, just as much as it implies his intelligence by coming close to the truth at the gate as an even younger child, though at a price for his hubris.

he is constantly improving and learning, both in martial arts and in alchemical abilities. there is a giant list in a giant sea of reasons why edward is not normal in terms of his skills and abilities / intelligence but we’ve all seen the series. yes he can be a goof, a comedic hero, but never underestimate the infinite potential / ability he can acquire. that said i will never disrespect your muses abilities either!!! equal footing in partnership of writing imho! basically...

 things that others might learn in a week he may learn in a day or two hours.

8. if i don’t see us mixing well rp wise, i may unfollow to keep things organized, and while these rules are blunt and to the point? i am never against having castmates / people from the fma rpc. my goal and role here is to explore edward in all his flaws, strengths, and in-betweens, and not sugar-coat or step away from realism and development as he grows in my writing and from the story of fullmetal alchemist itself.

9. i don’t genuinely take mains unless we click and i usually make tags for relationships without having a requirement for mains / exclusives. say i have an alphonse i really can’t see myself interacting with another? doesn’t mean i’ll be exclusive because you never know what’s ahead. so i will only do mains and very rarely, say a close friend, an exclusive. 

i am not possessive and you’re welcome to write with all kinds and i’ll always if we’re mutuals be here on the sidelines rooting! if you don’t want to be mains and still want a tag? hey i can do that because tag making is fun and we still can make fun things together! tell me all about your muse!

10. on different portrayals. i generally do not follow as a rule, as while i do not have any desire for competition and view all duplicate / variations of different eds as equal like we all should, i do want to keep my own portrayal and others separate. if i follow you it’s likely that i have talked to you or are familiar with you, and nothing more.

it isn’t a very common occurrence, but that hardly means i dislike you or wanting to vie for dumb competitive spots. i’m just here to have fun, just like any edward, and like any portrayal, some are more others cup of tea than others and that should be /respected/ and not judged. basically if you write ed too? awesome! i might not follow but i sure as hell am glad he’s so loved.

11. due to the absurdly massive trauma edward has faced, and as someone who has her own and empathizes / is working on research on things i don’t know!, as i’m sure we all can see some of ed or any character in us a lil bit, (!)   so i do not take these subjects lightly though i do not know all of them, there will be dark themes present so please keep yourself comfortable okay? edward suffers from severe post traumatic stress disorder, dissociative disorder, anxiety attacks / nightmares and survivor’s guilt, self-hatred and repressive behaviors and the exploration of grief in unhealthy / unaddressed ways as well as anger and pain. 

again, please read at your own discretion. edward is packed with trauma and grief and heartache, and i will not sugarcoat that for anything but approach it with the respect our fullmetal pipsqueak deserves!

I know Edlingweek was like two weeks ago, but I'm stubborn to not finish some prompts. For day 3, I chose pinning and nature because boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooi all of my friends know I am a sap for some gays in the woods.

The text is from Lorde's "400 Lux". It's such a pining song, and I love that there have been stories about Ed being compared to sunsets. I wanted to take elements of both and make a thing.
