it feels like I just made this post, but poverty never stops being a hellish experience that continues to weigh on our shoulders, ahaha.

my family needs grocery money. like, really badly.

everyone in my household is malnourished and it's starting to massive toll on both our physical and emotional health. we're exhausted and foggy-headed constantly because we've been surviving off of pb&j sandwiches, rice, and potatoes. food prices have been skyrocketing in our town and according to several different budget planners i've run our household finances through, i should supposedly be spending more than we pay monthly in rent on our shithole apartment on our monthly groceries in order to comfortably feed four adults. i'm EXTREMELY lucky if i ever manage even half of that.

our qpr/housemate has been in the hospital for the last couple of days and is finally being discharged today. after having nothing but a clear liquid diet and then a few plates of soggy hospital cafeteria food, i would really love to feed them an actual meal tonight, but there's basically nothing in the cabinets/fridge and we have a total of $20 to our names that absolutely must be saved to put in our gas tank, so we can all get around for work.

i'm....exhausted. i'm too tired and hungry to feel much else right now.

hi loves ☹ i’m currently awaiting a decision regarding a health assessment due to very poor and declining health, which from today could take up to a month before i hear back about it.

Everyone I know, knows, I absolutely HATE asking social media for money. My current living situation is taking its toll on my funds. I’m spending more money ordering out for food, than actual cooking at home.

What’s going on? the owners of the trailer park we live in, refuse to fix any of the infrastructure and are charging us for our use of water due to pump house problems now. Our tap water is linked to so many health problems we have. We’ve reported them to the health department 5 times in the past couple months. Nothing is being done to improve anything. We’ve had to resort to using bottled water for our cooking and even THAT is starting to take its toll on our wallets.

I don’t have a job, I’m a 30 year old woman in real life who was born with a physical disability and only gets supplemental benefits once a month. Where does my money go? bills, medical essentials, pet care and food. My physical disability has no known cure, other than a risky surgery that could potentially end my life. There aren’t many optional work places for those of us with physical disabilities, and we can even lose our supplemental benefits if we make too much income within the month’s time or even if we work too many hours per week. The USA’s system is NOT disabled people friendly at all, and that’s why I’m struggling so much.

This is a good way to spend our tax dollars. Instead of the $12.45 million we send to oil-rich Bahrain, $3.01 million to Saudi Arabia, $1.42 million to United Arab Emirates, $1.25 million to Qatar, and 2.94 millian to Oman.

It is hoped the children's parents spend the money appropriately.

I swear PayPal is run by morons. The unauthorized charge I disputed on Dec. 1st was supposed to be resolved yesterday. I just checked it and they pushed back the resolution to the 16th now. That's another 5 days. I'm livid. That money was for food, and it was stolen.

working at a grocery store has only made me even angrier about inflation and how food, water, and shelter isnt free

like just looking at groceries (not water or shelter) i see just a few bags (maybe around 5 or so) of food costing over $125 USD regularly. I've seen orders upwards of $600. and sure those have been bigger orders but no food should cost that much.

my coworkers and i shouldn't be complaining about the price of food when we get employee discounts.

a single bag of food for myself (usually containing some small pizzas, crackers, milk, and cereal) regularly costs between $50-60. minimum wage in my state is 15/HR. thats about four hours of work for one bag of food

a coworker who works on the front end of our store prides herself on being able to catch theives. everyone says how good she is at it. and sometimes it makes sense, sometimes people are just stealing to steal. but how do you ever know?

when the card reader we take outside is broken we are supposed to have the customers come inside to pay for their groceries if they're paying with EBT. there's a woman who's a regular who has a few small children and when she comes to pick up groceries they're usually asleep in the car.

am i supposed to make her choose between leaving her children alone in the car or waking them up and taking them inside?

i haven't seen a single person stealing food. you cannot steal whats already stolen.

Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you."

Every time i tell people i buy groceries every 14 days they seem shocked by this and tell me they buy groceries every day or several times a week.

That in turn blows my mind, as someone who couldn’t possibly hate buying groceries more than i do, i can’t imagine doing it that often.
