-->And hooray, I can finally have my food sale! I promptly had Smiler set up outside and restock the table (with minty mocha cupcakes, banana split waffles, artful foccacia, and garden pizza) before starting their sale, calling out to any passers-by to check out their wares while Victor and Shadow continued working on Heel training. And seeing this, I got an idea for how Alice could get HER New Skill Day Skill – specifically, I sent her to take some pictures of Smiler at the stand! (And Shadow spinning around chasing her tail nearby.) Because she wasn’t QUITE at level 5 Photography skill yet, and what better time to max out that mini-skill than New Skill Day? :D She got some good shots of Smiler in full salesperson mode (probably gonna put one up on the wall in the house – or maybe in the store?), then went to chat with Victor for a bit as the first customer of the day walked up to see the wares –
Morgyn Ember! Who I did NOT recognize immediately in their hot weather wear because they’d traded their curly locks for a giant bun and their iconic red coat for a red shirt and black shorts. O.o They started chatting with Smiler about the food available (Smiler, as usual, becoming their good friend up on introducing themselves), while Victor finally finished teaching Shadow how to heel (nice) and followed Alice into one of the vet treatment rooms to give her a little serenade. XD I had Alice respond by taking some pictures, including of him and some cute posters around the room –
And THAT knocked her over the edge, maxing out Photography at level 5 and getting her the New Skill Day skill she needed! w00! With THAT settled, I had Alice go hang out with the pets in the front of the vet, and sent Victor to go get a burger from the local food stand by the big old fountain (which he ate with one of the local strays). But how was Smiler doing hawking their goodies during all this?
-->Pretty darn good, honestly! After a long chat, Morgyn ended up buying a minty mocha cupcake, with Brant Hecking stopping by to grab a slice of garden pizza right afterward. Brytani Cho (that celebrity Smiler slightly dislikes for reasons unknown to me) then showed up and started being annoying, trying to hype up all her fans in front of the stand, but fortunately she was mostly ignored, and sales continued. Roxana Lopes popped by for a cupcake and Morgyn came back to snag some banana split waffles (and an autographed picture from Brytani, so I guess her hyping did work a little).
After that, there was a break in the action, so I quickly checked up on Victor and Alice and had them trade places – Victor returning to the vet lot to check up on the pets (he also got to know Butter, one of the other patients, who was a big cute fluffy Loyal dog) while Alice went to grab a haddock sandwich from the food stand (the eating of which taught her how to make it – was a little surprised, but hey, new recipe). Once I was certain they were good, it was back over to the stand to convince people they deserved snackies! Brytani decided to actually BUY something after Smiler hit her with a sales pitch and picked up some garden pizza, with Brant coming back in for another slice of same, and Catarina, Justin, Morgyn, and Brent all got some cupcakes before the sale ended. Final totals were six minty mocha cupcakes, three garden pizza slices, and one serving of banana split waffles sold for a total of $249 profit! Not bad – I like how the sale breaks down specifically what was sold, instead of making me keep track of it. Seems like cupcakes might be the way to go for future sales... Plus Smiler got TWO levels of the Entrepreneur skill from the sale, meaning they completed New Skill Day upon finishing it! w00! That’s what we like to see!

-->And then I checked in on Victor and Alice, and found Victor had flown off to one of the log benches near the public campfires to nap (I’d seen him get on his broom before, but hadn’t been sure where he was going), and Alice was currently running off to light another campfire somewhere – not entirely sure it was the same one. Now, I had also recently noticed that, for some reason, eating the Three Sisters Chili had NOT actually fulfilled the BBQ tradition for Victor (or Alice, but as she ignores that tradition due to her Loner trait, it didn’t matter so much for her), so I figured I might as well see if roasting some marshmallows over the campfire fulfilled it! Plus it just seemed like a fun activity for the three to do while they waited for it to get dark enough for fireworks. :) I thus sent everyone over to the public campground, woke up Victor, had Smiler light the fire, and tried to set up a marshmallow roast –
Only to discover that neither Victor nor Smiler could get into position to do so. Apparently there was exactly one seat where a Sim could roast marshmallows, and Alice had it. I tried to have Smiler at least play their guitar by the fire, but no dice there either. *frowns at EA* Did you guys really not check if the campfires were properly usable before placing them? Though I guess my game could just be glitchy...this save feels like it’s getting more and more unstable, honestly…
-->With marshmallows off the table for everyone but Alice, and the hour growing late, I figured it was time to do the fireworks and then send everyone home – Victor and Alice WERE getting rather tired, after all. I thus sent the trio back to the rental house, and – after ascertaining they couldn’t properly use the fire pit at the rental either (couldn’t even light that one!) – had Smiler put their three fireworks into the world and got Victor and Alice over to watch as they started lighting them. To my annoyance, while the first firework went off beautifully, neither Victor nor Alice were properly watching – hell, Victor insisted on flying BACK to the public campground to take another nap on the log benches there! Annoyed, I had him hop right back on his broom and return while Smiler got the spark fountain firework ready – fortunately, this one went off without a hitch too, and THIS time Victor and Alice took the time to watch it, at least partially fulfilling the tradition for them. Once everybody was done with that one, I had Smiler move onto the final mortar shot –
Aaaand it proved to be a dud. Meh. *shakehead* Well, at least they got two good fireworks out of the three! And the tradition was fulfilled enough that everyone had a good time. *nods*
-->And with THAT, it was finally back home, so Victor and Alice could get some sleep. Or, well, so Alice could get some sleep – I sent her straight up to bed, while Victor got sent to the barbecue on the back porch to make some grilled fruit. Reason? The BBQ tradition is one he loves because of his traits, and thus I really wanted him to fulfill it. :) He managed to stay awake until he completed the dish, happily – and even got Cooking level 7 from it, good for him. :D I then had him magically fix all the broken wind turbines (again, yes) before sending him to bed. Smiler, meanwhile, cleaned out more spoiled food from the fridge (while I put the chili and the grilled fruit in it – and grabbed their plasma fruit back OUT of it for them), cleared a twisted tendril from the back yard, and gave Shadow a brush before ending the playsession jamming out on their guitar, with Shadow, and later Shock, as their enthusiastic audience. :)
And there we have it! Bit of a difficult playsession at times, but ultimately a rewarding one – it’s always nice to send the trio out and about to see new places! And even if I don’t plan to get them a horse or anything like that, it was nice to visit Chestnut Ridge and get a look at the place. :) Next time, the gang heads out to a different desert world to do some more food sales -- see you then!

$1000 a month
-the money I need for things I pay by debit, like the phone
$800
/ by two shopping trips a month
$400
-the cost for feed, medicine, and other necessities for all the animals
$80
-the kerosene for the hot water heater
$48
So, everything I buy for me…food, toilet paper, I mean everything, has to come out of $48
Oh, and gas for BOTH the car and pickup…..
Um, yeah. That doesn’t work.
See, I REALLY do have to focus while shopping. I won’t have enough money for everything, but if I think carefully enough I can find a way to get by.
(Yes, yes, get rid of the animals. The animals that are my only true friends. The animals that are the reason I have to keep surviving when despair crushes me. The animals that adopted me as wandering strays or who have lived their whole lives here on the farm. Break up their complex family and tear them from their life long home so that I can live a more comfortable life……
Nah. They cost, and I am constantly hoping against hope that no one new shows up, but we need each other. If I have to eat crap and delay repairs to keep them alive, then I have to. My life depends on their lives too. )
