I really want to juxtapose him to his usual self in the comics where instead of starting off as an almost timid lad who doesn't believe in himself and follows a comfortable path, he actually starts as a confident and flexible young man, who, due to the shit happening to him folds deeper and deeper into himself.. But he is just as angry and impatient, which is not a very Jedi thing to be. Which doesn't matter really, as there's nobody to hold him accountable

He, while very competent in the Force, does not fall back to it that often, preferring to solve problems with his brain or hands first. It's partially due to believing in himself, but also partially due to this story taking place post-Order 66. And when it comes to the Force, for him I treat it the way he'd treat math usually: seeing abstractions in the world around him and focusing on them, playing tricks on people. Doppelgängers, mind tricks, memory walks; you name it. And a mean left hook ofc 💪

But usually he's pretty good about not traumatizing people (All of this doesn't mean that he doesn't just. Pick Thrawn up and spin him around a couple of times when he gets annoying WGJAKWG)

Funnily enough he is abysmal in the ways of visions, so, for all the trouble the Ascendancy is going through they're not getting much out of him in return when it comes to strengthening the Navigators.

Speaking of them he adores them, but he is cautious and restrained. He helps teach them skills the Ascendancy doesn't allow, gives them a new perspective of the world around them and empathizes with their fates. That being said he is also very suspicious of how much of himself he shares as they are after all not loyal to him.

Just got to the part where Che'ri describes horrible nightmares of death and war yet to come and so naturally Thrawn prescribes the ten year old gifted kid "no sleep until it stops I guess" and while it's funny and reflective of how just slightly-to-the-left Thrawn is with people, it sort of makes sense if you consider that the Chiss know next to nothing about Force sensitivity and Thrawns only baseline for comparison is Anakin fucking Skywalker

Yes it’s a long one, and yes it’s a bit niche, BUT LISTEN. I never read the Thrawn series and Rebels honestly wasn’t my jam but this fic had me in a chokehold. The plot is the most heavenly kind of rich; it explores the Force, it shows us a new side of Thrawn (that remains accurate to his character), it builds deeply intimate and beautiful relationships from scratch. This story is so well written and satisfies that itch that every tumblr baby feels for good character moments (aka filler episodes). It absolutely deserves to be my first fanfic recommendation.

You know, in terms of Borika who used to be Force Sensitive, it's making sense why people assume Thrawn is too.

And I think that, maybe he is but his isn't strong in a way. And his didn't fade because it wasn't used.

It's more of a sixth sense.

Little Theory of mine that Thrawn had a sixth sense equivalent to being Force Sensitive, but it was too small to be considered useful to be a Navigator, so it was shrugged off as Non-Force Sensitivity. Since Thrawn never used his ability in a way that exerts him for using it too much, it didn't fade and it stayed as a sixth sense but it also has a potential to grow if trained correctly.

Just jumping into the "Thrawn is Force Sensitive" Theory train because my mind immediately went to that 😅
