i wish that force sensitivity wasn't considered a heritable quality in star wars. it would be so much cooler to me if it were actually super rare for jedi parents to have force sensitive kids, and the skywalkers were just some strange exception. it would make the force seem more ineffable, the choices it makes on who is and is not sensitive more egalitarian and democratic, opening it up to anyone what otherwise would be held by people with the right parents. there shouldn't be biological dynasties of powerful jedi, there should be training lineages of adopted young people instead, so it's less about blood family and more about strangers of all species united over this shared talent. i just always want star wars to be less like harry potter, where the rare existence of muggleborns were the exception that proved the rule that magic was hereditary, like an aristocracy sanctioned by nature. there just shouldn't be force aristocrats, and the skywalkers should be the exception that prove the rule for star wars that everyone else springs up organically without requirement of noble parent yk

Summary:
All this facade of cheerfulness on both sides was to mask the bantha in the room. They were leaders in their own right, just in different ways, and yet, they didn't dare to address what was hanging in the thick air between them. It was quite embarrassing, that even as adults, they were no more mature in this topic than teenagers.
Emotions so deep were uncharted territory.

day 37: foresight
Jacen had been running circles around Hera all day, and he refused to tell her why. She knew that it had to be something big, though, because the last time he had been like this was the day she decided to teach him how to fly, before she actually told him. She didn’t find out until late that night, when their home’s door opened and Sabine ran inside to pull both of them into a tight hug. That would have already been great enough but then Ahsoka was there too, ruffling Jacen’s hair and pulling Hera into a searing kiss.

The fact that Jacen Syndulla is not being trained as a Jedi is annoying beyond belief. This kid is one of THE MOST force sensitive untrained children we’ve EVER seen in Star Wars and you’re telling me that every time he says he wants to be a Jedi all he gets is a “that’s nice sweetie”?!!!
