I feel after seeing this movie. It really dawned on me how it looks to grow up as a woman. You go from being in your safe little bubble that you call home to where you're loved and praised or even protected and told by your father, "Don't let any man push you around or else." 🫖

To then, getting out in the real world and recognizing that everything you saw in TV shows, books, and were taught by your parents didn't exactly hold true. You get cat called on the streets, harrased by men and seen as "fair game" or "fresh meat" to their eyes. 🫖

This automatically can pop the bubble that you felt was protecting you from all these things and cause you to look at yourself in such a different light. You may begin seeing your body as an object to be used or your looks as something to be fixed cause of all the ads. 🫖

Ads that tell you that all your problems will be fixed just by using this one product. But what they don't tell you is for this one to work you need buy 10 more different products. This all causes you to then turn the knife in on yourself and feel self concious of all of you. 🫖

I know this thread has already been depressing. And I don't usually create content that is saturated in a lot of negativity, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel that this movie did show, and that's what I really want to share, but to do so meant stating the negative. 🫖

Now, as I stated before, despite some of the societal issues we see portrayed in this movie, there is also a beauty it shows too. In the end, by allowing stereotypical Barbie to just be her, meaning solely basic and nothing more, it teaches girls that they are enough. 🫖

You don't have to be president, become a rockstar, or even win a Nobel peace prize in order to be considered worthy and enough. There is nothing wrong with being ordinary. Just like there's nothing wrong with Barbie being stereotypical. Two things can be true at once. 🫖

You are beautiful and soul amazing, just as you are right now. Take a moment to really realize that. Let it sink it, and I'm gonna take it back to spirituality for a minute here cause that's also what this account is here for. I made this platform not only to uplift people. 🫖

But also to recognize that you are created in God's image. Your existence is proof that generations of your body and face have been loved. Remind yourself this.
