Maubousson for people who like heavy old dusty resinous scents. the closest scent i’ve found to the incredible Mon Parfum Cheri Par Camille from Annick Goutal. thick waxy plum patchouli

keihls musk is just the best bang for ur buck musk. for those who want to smell classic and clean. extremely unisex. starts out like shaving cream and ends with soft non offensive animalics

big dry spiced patchouli incense, much more unisex than the bottle suggests. for goth hippies who love old fashioned ambers. and this perfume is so funny to me bc of the backstory.. the brand bellegance was started by a rich hollywood doctor and he got real perfume people to make this fragrance and it was sold for over $100 when it launched but it flopped so hard so he abandoned his venture into the world of fragrance not long after and now overstock of this actually good high quality perfume is sold for dirt online

milani cosmetics was made by my godmom tiana johnson. tiana had worked as my makeup artist since the beginning and we worked together to launch her own makeup brand. it’s made to be an affordable brand with luxury cosmetics.

it was a small launch with only a few post of promotion from ayané’s personal page and since then has blew up basically overnight becoming the fastest celebrity beauty brand to hit 100 million in sales. although this brand is ran day to day by tiana johnson who is ceo.

my dad and i recording studio brand. i am a producer and musician and always loved just how music is made, what happens in a studio is very personal, and sacred. my dad who helped me learn how to create music, and love music, and this has always been his dream to not only help me as an artist, but other young artist pursue their dream. he’s older now and can’t move around like he did with his daughter years ago and making this studio makes him feel the way he did without breaking his knees.

so i’m describing Billy’s smell in this fic and i remembered that in gothyringwald‘s breakdown of his room the comm had sussed out what his colognes were so i looked up their scent profiles. posting in case this is useful to others. note that the bottles in the caps are the modern ones but it’s still the same shit.

Billy’s cologne he used on his wrists:

Aramis was created in 1966 and dedicated to men who appreciate tradition and classic, and this is the reason why this perfume is always modern.

The composition is built around woody, sharp notes, which are very powerful and masculine. Aramis is one of the few contemporary fragrances in which the well-known intensive leather note can easily be recognized. Aramis is one of the brands belonging to Estee Lauder. It is very popular in America, where fragrances with a stronger character are preferred.

The opening notes are grassy green and fresh, spiced with cinnamon. The heart is woody with pelargonium, which possesses an intensive floral-spicy aromatic scent. The perfume ends with a massive leather note.

As we step into the new year of 2024, I think to myself ‘what can I do differently in 2024?’ I’m not one to sit on my hands and wait until a new year started to make changes to my life but I would be lying if I didn't say that the sparkle surrounding the prospect of being an entirely new person in january while reflecting on the year in december didn’t excite me. I’ve been taking my vitamins, getting my ass in the gym, solidifying my beauty routines and trying to become an all around ‘it girl’. BUT it's time to wholeheartedly embrace the essence of the 'it girl era' with even more aggression and tenacity than before. Being mediocre has never been in my cards and I want so much out of this life that I have to do more.

The Enchantment of Your Signature Beauty Routine

The first thing I had to get right was my natural look. My go-to ‘If i have 5 minutes to be outside can I I do it?’ signature makeup look. And this is from someone who just started learning about makeup in 2016…where we did full faces and the thickest eyebrows possible. I had to think about what I wanted my staples to be that would always be in my collection. Now I’m a girl who likes a nice dewy look and whenever I wear makeup people don't even know I’m wearing it!

no, I was busy reading all the analysis and just reblogging the occasional post. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to use the tags. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was more active on tumblr after S2 dropped.

Honestly OMR beauty and the following campaign took me by surprise. We knew for months that he was launching his brand and that it could be a fragrance. But the build up to launch day and the professionalism of the entire campaign was eye opening for me and quite simply I like to look at aesthetically pleasing things. It was his journey and now it’s ours as well.

As for the gifs I was using this website up until two weeks ago and then I caved in and bought an app. I think the professional gif makers are using PS and high quality source material but I’m too chickenshit for that.

There was a vogue article about pleasing the other day I can’t remember the name but you should be able to find it online anyways it was the new ceo talking about it and a few things that i thought were interesting: after the first launch the interest in pleasing went down a lot and so selling fragrances aka something new was a way to drive it up again, Harry lambert and Molly (I forget her last name but I think u know who I’m talking about) are basically the ones running it for the most part at least creatively and Harry’s more in the background which i guessed and the ceo wouldn’t say how exactly the company was doing so I don’t think it’s doing too well as of now after the initial high performance so I would guess that that’s why prices are so high they’re trying to make up for the number of consumers getting smaller.

I think this is the article anon is talking about if anyone wants to read! I also didn't know they had a new ceo which is definitely telling about how they're performing business-wise. fragrances are always pretty pricey but I do feel like they're just trying to keep up with other high-performing "luxury" beauty brands

RECEIVING GIFTS

Gift-giving in her family was never a love language; She was always handed a card to buy what she wanted, even if there wasn’t a celebration. Momi found it hard to comprehend when her peers received gifts on special occasions; every gift almost always came with a card. At some point, Momi noticed how close friends would treat her differently when asked, “Did your mom gift you the limited edition bag? You’re so lucky. Did she surprise you?” and she’d answer, “No, I bought it with her card. Why would she surprise me? She doesn’t have time to shop for me. I shop for myself, which is easier, in my opinion.” The more she answered, the more friends gradually distanced themselves until she was left isolated. 

“Her family is rich, but why does she act like she’s better than everyone else?” Laughter bounced off each girl as another joined in. “I know, right? I pity her.” The conversation was loud enough for her to hear as she hummed happily by them, but the sinkhole grew slowly inside her as the years passed. 

(PRESENT) Momi scattered about in Dolce & Gabbana, glancing at the new collection of handbags, fragrances, and shoes. A wonderful day to be alive, Momi pointed at multiple materialist items as workers gathered everything at the counter, ready to be placed in bags. “May I have that one in pink?” She set her phone down on the counter to inspect the bag for any impurities, ignoring the multiple chimes and carefully returning the bag before reaching for her phone. “I’ll take…”

The scream she emitted shook the store after reading a single message, running full speed at the glass doors while workers followed closely behind. There was no time; traffic would play a big factor in reaching her destination—Momi heaved, pausing abruptly, almost forgetting how much she loathed running.

Waving down a taxi was much easier with luxury bags dangling from her arms, an easy tip for the driver whom she’d order to press on the gas as his life depended on it. Momi aggressively crawled out of the taxi, heading straight for the elevator as she waited impatiently for the number to reach her floor. “Why is it moving so slowly?” Momi tapped her foot until the elevator stopped on her floor, rushing out before the doors had fully opened and rushing to her apartment–slowing down to say hello, then returning to her original pace. 

Once inside, Momi launched the bags across the living room floor, refusing to move from her spot as she faced the door with heavy breaths and very little movement. “It should be here any moment.” She stood in that position for an hour, awaiting the delivery man. The minute his shadow caught the attention of her door camera, Momi nearly ripped the door from its hinges. “Sign here? Thank you!” 

The packaging was beautiful (the packaging was cardboard), but her eyes scanned every inch of the packaging. It was finally here, the bag she had waited six months for, and the tension grew as she set it down carefully on her coffee table. Momi stared at the box until her shaky fingers dared to open it, grasping the velvety protection that held the purse of her dreams, and her first set of tears began to fall. 

Momi was speechless the minute her eyes settled on the custom bag, flawlessly stitched with a surreal bejeweled branded heart made from pink crystals. The delicate shade of pink leather, a darker shade inside to compliment the design–tears, more tears the longer she held the purse in her hands. The waterwork show was seating only one, and Momi had been the main attraction as well as the only attendee. Hugging the purse only brought uncontrollable waterfalls, which would alarm anyone around her, but this was pure bliss that she was experiencing. 

She could never thank him enough, and no words could express her gratitude for this gift. It was very special to her, and he would never know how special it was.

I'm a perfume collector and art historian who does fragrance consultations for friends and clients, often for free. (I have occasionally accepted payment either when clients have insisted or when reimbursing me for a full package of samples). I adore scent culture and do Olfactive Art History research. I'm also lucky enough to live in a city where I can go to most brand launches and have many friends in the industry.
