— jason grace:

To get into a real fight with him, you must have come a long way because he's so peaceful and always tries to negotiate calmly, making sure both of you communicate effectively. But at the end of the day, you're like any other couple and sometimes end up having real fights.

The big issue is Jason's nature. He goes silent when he's really upset, his emotions hard to show.

When he’s that mad, you can see it on his face. It’s scary, let’s not lie.

When the ice breaks, he tries to take charge to explain what's wrong, which often makes things worse.

He keeps his distance when you argue, tense and rigid. He’s like a handsome, angry log.

Sometimes he says things reluctantly, like "don't act childish," which is so him.

Yes, he raises his voice and gets frustrated, "no, I said NO, THAT’S NOT HOW IT IS, gods…"

If you're wondering if his powers show, the answer is NEVER, or at least not against you. His mouth might taste like metal or his fingers might spark, but that's just him being really stressed.

His eyes get cloudy and grey.

He takes off his glasses and rubs his temples while muttering.

When things finally start to work out, he breathes better and starts talking more because he knows nothing will work if he doesn’t.

He’s practical, coming up with solutions to problems.

When the fight's over, he hugs you and kisses your forehead, relieved to be out of that situation.

Can he stay mad for days? Depends on the problem, but he’d prefer it doesn't last more than a day.

Leo and you usually argue over small things because you have that kind of relationship where you bicker and tease for fun, but when things get serious, the arguments can get heated (get it? heated? laugh, please).

That’s when things get tough. He may seem easy-going, but Leo has a strong temper and is very stubborn when he's mad. Whatever made you really fight doesn't matter because he’ll be stuck on his point.

"No, that's not how it happened." You could be contradicting each other all day until you both turn away and stop talking.

"Well, screw you!" you say, and he growls back, "Yeah, you too," swearing in Spanish. "vale ma-" "me lleva la ch-"

Yes, he switches languages mid-sentence.

"I already told you no! CUANTAS VECES TENGO QUE DECIRLO, carajo!-"

If you know Spanish, you can reply; if not...

"I don’t understand you, idiot. Say it in English or fuck yourself ." (just in case because you’re not sure what he said)

Swearing is common if he's really mad, but it's more his way of dealing with it than being mad at you.

That or sharp sarcasm.

Yes, he might cry if the argument is really bad.

His rigid feelings and insecurity can come up.

Leo is attached, so he’s constantly thinking of ways to fix it because he can’t stand being away from you for too long.

He keeps his distance, terrified of hurting you with his powers, which makes him nervous. "No, DON’T COME NEAR ME." It's for your safety, but it hurts him to see the look in your eyes when he says it.

Can he stay mad for days? Absolutely, but he misses you a lot, though his pride might keep him from showing it.

Don’t worry, he’ll eventually sit down to talk it out, and you’ll both calm down and fix things.

Then he'll give you a big hug and kiss your cheeks.

Yes, Frank is Mars’s son, but he’d never choose the battlefield for his lover. He’s very careful and always considerate, but yeah he can be severe when things get bad, and when isn't enough just have a serious talk.

You end up fighting in not-so-quiet whispers, with your faces and gestures being the most expressive.

"Of course not, I already told you, hey!" He raises his hands, and his body tenses up threateningly.

Frank tries to understand your point and make himself heard, always mindful of both your feelings. He knows how to set boundaries.

Sometimes, he just can’t take it anymore and signals a pause. "You know what? This is getting too much, and neither of us is in the best shape. Let’s talk tomorrow or later, please."

Does he raise his voice? Hardly, only when he really needs to make a point.

His eyes are bright, tinged with sadness and anger. The deadliest is his calm face or the way he slightly curls his lip, almost growling.

His eyebrows always seem to be touching, even if he doesn’t want them to.

He keeps a cool head to solve things.

Can he stay mad for days? Yes, while clearing his mind and thinking. He’ll come up to you, and you’ll talk it out, making things work in the end.

He’ll take your hand. You might feel guilty for pushing a guy like Frank to his limit, but he doesn’t mind having relationship problems with you:

"I hope we fight many more times, but about totally different things because it means we’ve really solved the previous issues."

Percy won't waste a second, trying to resolve it immediately by asking and reflecting on his own actions. "What did I do wrong?" if it was his fault. "Can you listen to me for a second?" if it was you.

He hates being mad at you, just can’t stand it. But if the fight starts, he wants to start or finish it (or both).

Yes, he might cry.

Yes, he might raise his voice. "No, I didn't do anything. LISTEN TO ME."

Then he apologizes for it because he lost it.

He tries to hold your hands and says, "Babe, babe…"

He makes you both breathe and talk calmly.

He argues, of course, but differently. He’ll stop the conversation. "You know what? I'll think about it." He leaves or makes you leave.

Consequently, he might stay mad for days, or both of you might be mad at each other, but he’s thinking of what to say rather than just calming down. (Nothing wrong with that, everyone handles feelings differently and that's valid.)

Yes, he asks his mom.

Yes, he asks Paul.

You both end up fixing things, and he hugs you tight, giving you kisses all over your face while pouting.

frank zhang was nothing if not oblivious. he saw your confident personality with others, and despite your constant flirting with him, made out to believe you liked someone else.

you could have anyone, he had told himself, why would you want him.

but there you were, sitting right next to him, your legs tossed over his thighs. he just thought you liked being his friend, nothing more

but how he wished it was something more.

he’d never admit it, he’d never express his love for you. he’d never tell you how he could never get mad at how, he’d never tell you how just your presence brought a smile to his face.

how much he smiled when someone mentioned your name.

he liked what you did now, how you were still all over him. if things would just be like this for the rest of his life, without any hint of a relationship, he’d be fine.

that’s what he told himself.

meanwhile, you thought he didn’t like you at all. despite how he’d let you have his seat if it was crowded, or would be the first to make sure you were okay if you looked upset, you thought he disliked you.

in your mind, you had been so painfully obvious about your feelings for him that the only logical reason he didn’t reciprocate it was because he secretly didn’t like you.

despite being openly flirty with him, you expected him to make the first move. so, you didn’t ask him out. plus, it’d be highly embarrassing if he rejected you. you weren’t one to get nervous like this about affairs of the heart, but you really liked him.

so here you were, sitting against a large tree at the camp, watching the sunset. you were curled up in his sweatshirt, the fabric hanging off of you.

he wouldn’t let you know how much he loved the sight of it.

you were deep in thought, too spaced out to notice his staring. if he didn’t like you, why would he give you his sweatshirt? he could just be being friendly, but you never saw him do that with any of his other friends.

you needed to speak up. if he rejected you, he rejected you. but if you didn’t talk to him about your feelings, you’d always be wondering what could have been.

“frank?” you called out softly, turning your body towards him.

he hummed in response, trying to act like he hadn’t just been staring into the depths of your soul. if he were a cartoon character, he’d have hearts in his eyes.

you hadn’t thought over your exact words, so you decided to just be blunt.

“i like you, like, as more than a friend,” you explained, watching his face closely for any sign of a reaction.

his mouth fell open slightly. he couldn’t believe what you had just said. there was no way you just…

“are you kidding?” he asked, his eyes wide.

you took that as rejection, your tone changing more into a slightly frustrated one. obviously you weren’t kidding. still, there were nicer ways to reject you. what happened to letting people down easy?

he noticed your mood change, and mentally slapped himself for how rude that sounded.

“no, no i-“ there was no use explaining. he didn’t know how to formulate the thought either.

so, the boy went against everything else he knew. he leaned forward, using one hand to cup your face, bringing you closer as he pressed his lips to yours.

the kiss was short, but it said all unsaid feelings. you pulled away a bit, a smile on your face, your cheeks heating up as if it were your first kiss again.

frank knew now was the time to speak his feelings. he couldn’t just kiss you to replace the question.

“can i be your boyfriend?” he asked sweetly, a smile on his face, mirroring your expression.

“i’d like that,” you responded, nodding.

you leaned forward again, pressing another kiss to his lips. you had waited so long to do this.

and there you two stayed the night, surprisingly not getting caught.

the sun disappeared behind you, barely of notice as the stars rose in the sky.

Odysseus is ready to strangle the Olympians—one by one—for forcing him into this volleyball match. And then there are the teenagers who are absolutely destroying his crew.

Eurylochus crashes to the ground, the ball bouncing off his head and landing on the court.

The other side erupts in cheers. If Odysseus hears them shout in joy one more time, he might just summon a storm with his anger

"I think I may have broken a bone," Eurylochus groans, while Polites helps him up.

"Eurylochus, do not—" Odysseus begins, fully prepared to curse out his brother-in-law.

"We will beat them, don't worry," Polites interrupts brightly.

The scoreboard blares 12 to 0.

Perimedes points it out. Elpenor quickly shuts him up.

He glared at the kids across from them. They had been introduced to each other, so he knew all their names and their parents. The first one, and the one who had gotten the most points, was Percy Jackson, a child of Poseidon. He wondered what the sea god would do if he poked Jackson's eye out.

He debates whether it was worth it.

He decides it is. As soon as he got his hand on something sharp-

The others included, Annabeth Chase, was a child of Athena, which strangely stung.

A child of Zeus, Jason Grace. Eurylochus had declared if he hit the blonde kid in the face with the ball, it would be a victory for him.

Leo Valdez, a son of Hephaestus, who clearly was not taking the game seriously. He got distracted by everything and could not stay still for 10 seconds.

Frank Zhang, a child of Mars, who was Roman version of Ares. Odysseus groaned when he was told that there were a different versions of the Greek Gods who weren't very different at all.

And Piper Mclean, a child of Aphrodite. He didn't know how to feel about her.

There a child of Pluto, the roman version of Hades, watching from the sidelines named Hazel Levesque.

He’s a hero, a legend remembered by history, and these children are laughing at him!

Annabeth calls. “You might want to work on your serve. It’s kinda… underwhelming.”

“Underwhelming?” Odysseus snaps, grabbing the ball. He winds up and serves with all the force of a furious storm.

The ball flies sideways and misses the net entirely.

Jason bursts out laughing. “Nice shot! Want me to get it for you?”

Piper chimes in with dripping sarcasm, “Yeah, we can take it easy while you go on a quest for the ball.”

"Perimedes, go get it," Odysseus grumbles.

"Why me?" Perimedes whines.

Odysseus glares daggers at him. Perimedes stumbles to retrieve the ball.

Odysseus growls and tries again. His serve barely clears the net and is intercepted by Frank Zhang, who spikes it so hard it almost knocks Odysseus over.

“You know what’s the worst part?” Odysseus mutters. “They’re enjoying this.”

Annabeth catches his eye, smirking. “We do have a tendency to be good at things like this,” she calls out.

“Yeah, well, so do I!” Odysseus snaps back. “I could sink your whole ship with a single command!”

Leo Valdez, inspecting the ball like a piece of machinery, barely looks up. “Cool story, bro. But this isn’t the Odyssey. It’s volleyball. And we’re winning.”

"You haven’t done anything!" Odysseus retorts.

"Well, neither have you." Leo motions at the scoreboard, barely glancing up.

“You know, we’re having fun. I think that’s what counts," Jason says.

Odysseus turns to his team, who look equally dejected. “Alright, let’s try a new tactic,” he says, trying to salvage some dignity. “We’re going for a strategic play!”

Eurylochus mumbles, “You mean, like hiding the ball in the bushes?”

“No!” Odysseus snaps. “We’ll use the element of surprise.”

Perimedes, finally back with the ball, looks at him skeptically. “What’s the plan?”

Odysseus whispers dramatically, “We’ll fake a serve and then—”

Before he can finish, Leo Valdez, who’s just fixed his shoelace, tosses the ball back into play. The ball sails over the net, and instead of following his own plan, Odysseus dives for it, accidentally bumping it into his own face. The ball ricochets back over the net.

Percy spikes it with ease, and it lands with a decisive thud on Odysseus’s side. The scoreboard updates: 19 to 0.

The final whistle blows. Odysseus stares at the ground, his pride in tatters.

Percy Jackson and his team erupted into cheers and high-fives, their victory sweet and complete. Percy, with a grin as wide as the Mississippi, calls out, “Great game, guys! You definitely kept us on our toes!”

Annabeth, grinning, adds, “And hey, it was good practice for us, too. We’ll be ready for anything now!”

The child of Mars chuckles. “You should’ve seen it, Odysseus. You almost made us break a sweat”

Odysseus grumbled, “I’d rather face the Cyclops than play another round of this.”

"I wouldn't…" Polites mumbles.

As his team trudges off the court, Eurylochus, still grumbling about his 'broken bone', picks up the ball. In a fit of frustration, he hurls it toward the demigod team.

The ball smacks Jason Grace in the face. He stumbles and falls backwards, landing on his behind.

"AHA!" Eurylochus yells in victory, throwing his arms up, then winces.

Odysseus, struggling to hide a grin, says, “Well, at least we hit something.”

The crew quickly gathers their things and moves away, leaving behind the stunned demigods.

The flashes were partially blinding him, but he didn't care. He couldn't and didn't want to take his eyes off you, his beautiful, precious, and talented girlfriend.

— Simply dazzling!— the photographer said once another flash went off, voicing Frank's thoughts. He hugged your coat to his chest and couldn't help but smile when your eyes glanced at him for a microsecond.

The assistant brought him a chair, but he rejected it like before. He was just too lost in the way you moved for his mind to think about any kind of fatigue, but he imagined yours. For a little over an hour, you had been doing poses that he couldn't even achieve with all the training from Camp Jupiter. He watched the way your muscles tensed and your legs stretched, how your toes supported your weight, not to mention that you were only leaning on those heels.

He was relieved to know he had a box of ointments and medications especially for you in the glove compartment of his car, but what caught his attention the most were the microexpressions that only he could notice in you, the way your brow trembled between each photo, fighting not to frown. That's when Frank knew that beyond any physical fatigue, your social battery was less than half, as a daughter of Hades, you had some well-defined characteristics besides the intriguing beauty you possessed.

— One more! — the photographer shouted, and Frank eagerly stepped forward to greet you, ready to scoop you up in his arms to the car.

For your last photo, you turned your back to the camera and looked over your shoulder, searching for a point to focus on, and of course, that was your boyfriend.

Flash! It was as if another arrow had pierced Frank's heart for you. A few meters away, the assistant suppressed giggles at the stupid way Frank still smiled at you while you were already heading to your dressing room to change, and it was only a few minutes that he had to wait to see you return in much more comfortable and loose clothes, just as you liked after a session. He watched you drag your feet while a pout appeared on your face with each step you took towards him.

— There you are... — Frank sang, opening his arms, and you jumped into them to be enveloped and given that bear hug you loved. His cologne was soothing to your tired senses, almost like a lullaby, and he understood it by the way your weight leaned almost entirely on his chest.

The journey back home was like almost every time you returned from a session. Frank drove with the music barely audible, the heating on to give you some air, and you nestled in the back with a teddy bear that you had bought wich you insisted to Frank that it looked just like him when he turned into a bear, although in his opinion, he thought he simply looked like any other bear, but the thought that you could recognize him in any shape or way warmed his heart.

—Come here — Frank said, opening the back door once they had arrived. You rose slowly, but his hands climbed up your legs to lift you, and the only time you touched the floor was when he sat you on the edge of his bed. You looked at him for a few more seconds in silence while he took out some provisions and left them in their place.

— Frank —His head was buried in the refrigerator, probably inspecting what other supplies were missing.

—Frank....— You tried again, and your weak voice made him sit up a little so quickly that he did it before pulling his head out, causing him to hit the appliance. You only heard the thud.

—Yes?— He peeked out while rubbing his head, and you smiled. You didn't say anything else, just opened your arms.

Sometimes he found it hard to read you. Taking care of you as you did of him was important to him, so he always took the time to look into everything, while for you, although you appreciated that, some days all you wanted was... him, and he often forgot that because he never thought you would prefer to lie down with him rather than enjoy some delicious food or have him do all the cleaning alone. As he walked towards you, he felt his cheeks tingling.

— Sorry, it wasn't my intention to forget you— For you, it wasn't like that, in fact, it was quite the opposite, but you just kept your arms open with a sleepy smile that almost made Frank blink slower. He bent down to be at chest level with you, and with his arms wrapped around your waist to lift you so that both of you could fit on the mattress. Unlike other days, you wanted to settle into his arms facing each other, and his stomach churned as he was able to smell those expensive fragrances that suited you so well.

—You're the best — you whispered, your eyes struggling to stay open, and your well-manicured hand caressed his cheek. He had won you over, nothing could be better than cherishing your affection, but if things could be better, it was with that.

—No, you're the best.— he cooed as he gently traced the features of your nose with his finger, causing you to close your eyes. When you smiled slightly, gradually falling asleep, he gave you a soft kiss and held you to his chest until he had the same need to close his eyes.

“Don’t think I didn’t see you take down several of my decorations already, Grover,” Annabeth called out walking from the kitchen as she forked a piece of fruit cake in her mouth, watching into the grand open hallway where Leo and Grover are finishing decorating the tree.

“Hmm, did you hear something Leo?”

“Didn’t hear a thing – oh, missed a spot.” Leo says in a sing-song voice as he nurses a bottle in one hand and a small glittering ball in the other as he looks for a place to put it.

“Real mature.” The only reason Annabeth was stuck decorating with those two morons was because Piper was out cold – unlike Hazel she’s a huge lightweight and is currently passed out on the sofa in the drawing room, covered in a thick blanket courtesy of Jason. Annabeth watched bemusedly as she spotted Frank shifting back and forth into a small cat as he stole some of the decorative bulbs just to watch a drunk Leo and Grover try to figure out where it went.

“That is the ugliest Christmas tree I’ve ever seen.” She spun around at the sound of Percy’s voice, not fighting back her smile as she spotted him walking her way, still in his clothes from earlier, her eyes lingering where he rolled up the sleeves of his black button down. “Hmm, it’s only a mess because they’re removing all my hard work.” Annabeth muses, bringing her free hand up to hold onto his collar, stretching on her toes she met him for a kiss. Feeling the cold metal of his rings when one of his hands circled around her waist slipping beneath her shirt to caress her bare skin. “Hey! None of that in-front of us!” Groaning at Grover’s interruption they pulled away but Annabeth grabbed a hold of Percy’s hand instead, pulling him to his room, “Sure, not like none of us had to endure the sight of you and Juniper fuc- mhm!” Her words were muffled when Percy covered Her mouth with one of his large hands, “We’ll see you guys for dinner,” pausing as he dragged his eyes to Piper’s sleeping form, “– or when Piper’s up?” She heard Leo and Frank’s uncontrollable laughter and Grover sent a gust of wind their way but they dogged out of the way just in time as Percy shut the door with a crooked smirk.
