cannot stop thinking about "Ati, perhaps kindliest among us, who had boldly taken up Ruin." the mistborn brainrot never stops. he was the kindliest among them. the man that became the ruin we know, that the final empire crew had to defeat, was the kindliest of the sixteen Vessels. hello is anyone out there

It’s shocking Kelsier blends in so well in his mistcloak considering it’s made up of nothing but red flags

There’s a person I follow on instagram for non cosmere reasons who is currently sharing about reading the mistborn series and just put up a story saying something like “just finished well of ascension and was so worried about vin and elend at least they are ok for now :)”
**Paired with a picture of them lying on the mareflower field**

yeah, so i’ve been consumed by mistborn as of lately and i’m losing my mind constantly for the past week but i’ve started the third book and i’ve reached my breaking point bc in book 1 we have this scene:
Tumblr media
when all was still fun and i was happy before most things turned to shit and i cried until my face was swollen but guess what? i kept on going! and going. and fucking going.
but none of the trauma i’ve been through with books 1 & 2 could have prepared me for the way this scene in book 3 would gore me through the heart:
Tumblr media
it’s the way that she’s so rarely allowed to be a bit silly. the way she isn’t breaking under the weight of a whole religion telling her she’s going to save the world. the way she’s happy to wear a pretty dress and go to a ball. the way this part of vin is a materialization of kelsier’s attempts at building a lady out of her. the way she doesn’t really talks about kell but at times acts exactly like him. the way she doesn’t let herself grieve him properly. the way she fights for trust and for the whole world because that’s what kell taught her. the way she learned about friendship after he was gone.

Looking back, Breeze and Allrienne's relationship is actually pretty good, especially for an early Sanderson romance, and that's in large part because he wrote it as "young woman down bad for a man twice her age" and "middle-aged casanova terrified he's emotionally manipulating a girl he's smitten with."
Like you know what? That's genuinely funny. Especially with the twist that she's been using zinc on him the entire time while he's not even dared to use brass after establishing he's pretty liberal with it overall.
Even with much of the fault of Sanderson's writing, especially with gender and romance and it once again being an early Sanderson work, it's a genuinely funny and honestly wholesome subversion of the "medieval noble is into a woman way too young for him." Not to mention with it being between more minor characters he doesn't suffer from the fumbles of Sanderson having to actually write romantic scenes.
With Sanderson wanting more women in any potential adaptation of Mistborn, I think an interesting take would be giving Allrienne a greater role, beyond some of the direct changes to the pre-existing cast.

Sanderson gave Kaladin Marsh's worldview with Kelsier’s charisma and then gave Moash Kelsier’s worldview with Marsh's charisma and I think that was very funny of him.

The book industry does not give as much credit as they should to fan artists. The number of book series that I have picked up solely due to the amazing art and edits that I have found online…
Literally would not have read half of my fav books.

Hi! Consider this my official intro post :) I have no idea how to do this so here’s an info dump.
Huge fantasy reader (Cosmere, RiordanVerse, Middle Earth, All The Young Dudes and others. Not even gonna claim Harry Potter, we all know why). If I’m not reading fantasy, I’m reading thrillers/mystery/horror.
I will mostly post about the books mentioned above, but we’ll see…
Kelsier is my all time favourite character.
If you don’t ship Wolfstar, what’s wrong with you?
I have a Percy Jackson and a Lord of The Rings tattoo. Will get a Cosmere tattoo in the near future (let me at least finish Stormlight). If you have any ideas, please share!
This might be controversial, but I consider Sanderson to be the Tolkien of modern fantasy. They are both absolutely genius.
I like BIG books, if you couldn’t tell.
***
Looking to make some bookish friends. If you want to discuss with me, feel free to ask/comment/message :)
Well, it was lovely to meet you. See you soon!

Can't wait to find out what Marsh's dynamic is with the Ghostbloods.
Is it: 'sure thats Marsh he helps us out some times. Casually. Yeah he's also Death'.
Or 'we must keep this particular mission quiet in case our leader's brother, the personification of Death, turns up, shuts it down, and/or comes back to base to lecture our leader'.
Both of these have great potential

The abandonment of the Oathpact predates the Lord Ruler. There was established trade between Scadrial and other worlds that the Lord Ruler knew about and allowed. Which means there were worldhoppers in the time of the final empire that KNEW what was going on with Scadrial and did not care to do anything about it.
By the time Kelsier learns of all this his planet is dying, and the Worldhoppers he meets are Hoid, who mocks him, Khriss and Nazh who threaten him and only offer a knife as assistance, and some Elantrians that are lurking like vultures to steal a shard. A shard that is NEEDED to prevent Scadrial from being destroyed.
The Cosmere at large proved to Kelsier that it would let an entire planet die at best and seek to destroy it at worst.
Despite all this, we see the Ghostbloods behave surprisingly cordially to people from other worlds. (Mraize is an ass but that's another topic.) Kelsier doesn't treat other worlds as enemies even when he's treating them as potential threats. His Scadrial first attitude doesn't seem to come from any kind of xenophobia, but because from his perspective SOMEBODY has to prioritize Scadrial or else it will die. And he isn't wrong.

rare n0brainustvibes mistborn post. it's lowkey hilarious how telsin is all "your SOFT life in the Basin has made you WEAK... your technology has STAGNATED..." telsin. the bomb. the nuke that you are holding??
on a serious note - scadrial went from a civilisation-destroying apocalypse to an Industrial Revolution in three hundred years, and then barrelled right through said revolution and into a nuclear age in, what, a decade? Telsin has no idea how fast that is. Look at Roshar, man, they had apocalypses every few centuries too and the implications of "I will teach you how to work metal" are that they barely dragged themselves back into an Iron Age.
