At night I have been giving my bf a little lecture on pokemon right before bed and honestly, he doesn’t love it. I have a DS and three pkmn games: Heart Gold, Platinum and White. I have considered getting a 3DS just so I can play Omega Ruby or Sapphire but honestly I have other things to spend money on at the moment. But I played original Ruby or Sapphire once about a decade ago. I think I had a Lunatone.

It’s genuinely funny to me how little sense pkmn makes if you didn’t grow up with some level of indoctrination into it. I’ve been listening to a podcast called Exp Share though, in which two friends play through each game - one of them a lifelong pkmn fan and the other encountering the games for the first time in his mid-thirties (ahem). And they both enjoy it, so perhaps you don’t need to get into pokemon from infancy (much like learning a language!) but maybe it shapes your brain differently to encounter it younger (like astrology). The podcast itself is honestly kind of boring but nice to have on in the background and fun to listen to when you’re playing along with the same game you’re hearing about.

I am very enamoured with my current squad. Nothing ruins a game for me like getting to a point where the squad is kind of scattered and not gelling together and sometimes I will start a new game because I think I have a better concept. I am thinking about restarting Heart Gold to do a nuzlocke run? Hmmmmm.

Anyway my current Platinum squad is: Vincent the Infernape Darius the Togetic Alison the Clefairy FruitBite!  the Cherubi Saunders the Vaporeon and Jazz the Frosslass taking over from ScaryPete the Rotom What a bunch of little cuties and then a samurai monkey who is on fire!
