Guide for Skilled Workers to Land PR in British Columbia
British Columbia, Canada boasts a thriving economy, breathtaking landscapes, and a multicultural society. No wonder so many skilled workers dream of calling this beautiful province home! But securing permanent residency can seem like a daunting task. In this article we have break down two key pathways for skilled workers seeking PR in BC, their differences and which to pursue.
Understanding Your Options:
Before diving in, it's crucial to understand the differences between these programs:
BC PNP: British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is managed by the provincial government and offers various streams specifically designed for skilled workers in high-demand occupations within BC. Benefits include faster processing times compared to federal programs.
Express Entry: This is a federal program managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Skilled workers can create an online profile and receive a score based on factors like work experience, education, and language skills. Those with high scores receive invitations to apply for permanent residency.
Shedding a Light on the BC PNP:
The BC PNP offers multiple streams tailored to various skilled worker profiles. Here are some popular options:
Skilled Immigration Stream: This stream targets workers with experience in occupations listed on the BC Skills Immigration List. A job offer from a BC employer is typically required.
Tech Pilot Stream: Designed for skilled workers in specific technology occupations, this stream doesn't require a job offer at the application stage (subject to change).
Entrepreneurs: This stream caters to experienced business owners who plan to establish or invest in a business in BC.
Advantages of Utilizing BC PNP:
Faster Processing Times: Compared to Express Entry, the BC PNP often boasts quicker processing times for permanent residency applications.
Employer Sponsorship: Several of this program streams allow you to leverage a job offer from a BC employer, potentially strengthening your application.
Provincial Focus: The program prioritizes skilled workers who aim to contribute to the BC economy and integrate into local communities.
For skilled workers with strong qualifications, the Express Entry program can be another avenue to achieve PR in BC. Here's what you need to know:
Eligibility: Candidates must meet the minimum requirements for Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program or Canadian Experience Class Program (CEC), depending on their experience and situation.
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS): Express Entry uses this points-based system. Factors like age, education, work experience, and language skills determine your CRS score. Higher scores translate to a greater chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR.
Provincial Nominations: Provinces like BC can issue Provincial Nominee Nominations (PNPs) through Express Entry, boosting your CRS score and significantly increasing your chances of receiving an ITA.
Regardless of the program you choose, here are some key steps to enhance your chances of success:
Assess Your Eligibility: Carefully review the eligibility criteria for each program and ensure you meet the requirements.
Boost Your CRS Score: For Express Entry, focus on factors that increase your CRS score, such as improving your language skills, gaining relevant work experience in Canada, or obtaining additional education.
Prepare Strong Applications: Invest time and effort into crafting a compelling application package with clear documentation and highlighting your skills and experience.
Seek Professional Guidance: Considering the complexities involved, consulting with an experienced consultant can be invaluable. Our licensed immigration consultant Surrey firm can help you.
The Takeaway:
Securing PR in BC as a skilled worker is an achievable goal. By understanding the BC PNP and Express Entry programs, preparing a strong application, and highlighting your valuable skills, you can illuminate your path to a future in this vibrant Canadian province. Remember, the process requires research, dedication, strategic planning, and consultation.

Introduction to myself
Hi, My Name is Roberto Cabrera. I am 18 years old. I love working on cars, boats, and overall have a passion for learning to do useful things. Initially, I had plans of just working with my dad and his friend in a small used car dealership, but one day a friend in high school told me about the possibility of taking Dual Enrollment. So, I decided to do my research on what was required to get into the Dual Enrollment program. Thankfully I was always on top of school, and I had mostly all my credits as a sophomore, so that allowed me to continue the process as I had a good GPA. After getting recommended by my counselor, taking an Accuplacer test, and taking the ACT, I was finally in and ready to do full-time as a high school student. In the spring of 2022, I started driving and going to FSW, I took 5 classes, and they all went great. From there everything has been smooth sailing, and I am almost done with my AA degree. I hope to finish my degree soon and eventually transfer to FGCU to obtain a Bachelor's in Business Administration.

Q3) Fasteners and Erosion Control: Protecting Infrastructure
Ans) Fasteners play a vital role in erosion control, offering crucial protection and stability to various infrastructure projects in erosion-prone areas. Erosion can cause significant damage to roads, bridges, buildings, and other structures, posing safety risks and increasing maintenance costs. Here's how fasteners are effectively utilized to protect infrastructure and combat erosion:
1. Slope Stabilization: In regions with steep slopes, fasteners secure erosion control blankets, geogrids, or soil mats. These materials prevent soil erosion and surface runoff, stabilizing the slope and reducing the risk of landslides or collapses.
2. Retaining Walls: Fasteners are essential in constructing retaining walls, which hold back soil and prevent erosion on hillsides or near water bodies. By securing the retaining wall components, fasteners ensure stability and effectiveness in resisting soil pressure.
3. Geotextiles and Geomembranes: Permeable geotextiles and geomembranes protect soil from erosion in various infrastructure projects. Fasteners securely attach these materials to the ground or underlying structures, providing a stable barrier against erosive forces.
4. Gabions and Mattresses: Gabions, wire mesh containers filled with stones or soil, are utilized in erosion control and slope stabilization. Fasteners hold the gabion components together, creating a flexible and permeable structure that resists erosion and provides long-term stability. Similarly, erosion control mattresses, with interconnected cells filled with soil, are secured by fasteners to protect shorelines and riverbanks.
5. Stormwater Management: Fasteners are employed in stormwater management systems, securing erosion control measures like sediment basins, silt fences, and check dams. These systems trap sediment and prevent its migration into water bodies, reducing the impact of construction or runoff-related erosion.
6. Channel Linings: Fasteners are used to install channel linings, protecting channels, ditches, and waterways from erosion caused by flowing water. Linings such as riprap (large stones) or concrete blocks are securely fastened to resist hydraulic forces and prevent erosion.
7. Hydroseeding and Revegetation: Fasteners are integral in hydroseeding applications, where a mixture of seeds, mulch, and fertilizers is sprayed onto bare soil surfaces to promote vegetation growth and prevent erosion. Fasteners securely hold erosion control blankets or mats, protecting seeds and stabilizing the soil.
8. Shoreline Protection: Fasteners play a crucial role in shoreline protection projects, securing structures like revetments, seawalls, and bulkheads. These measures prevent erosion caused by waves, tides, and water currents, safeguarding coastal infrastructure and habitats.
9. Green Infrastructure: In green infrastructure projects like rain gardens and bioswales, fasteners secure erosion control measures that promote natural stormwater management and reduce erosion through vegetation and permeable materials.
10. Bridge Erosion Control: Fasteners are used in bridge construction to secure erosion control measures on embankments and bridge abutments, ensuring long-term stability and protection against erosion.
In conclusion, fasteners are integral to erosion control measures in infrastructure projects, safeguarding against the destructive effects of erosion and environmental forces. By employing appropriate fastening solutions, engineers and contractors can ensure the long-term integrity and safety of critical infrastructure in erosion-prone areas.

What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is a system used by the Canadian government to manage permanent residency (PR) applications from skilled workers. Applicants who want a PR status can submit their profile for EE if they are eligible under Canada Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trade (FST), or the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
The Canadian government uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to evaluate applicants. It is a point-based system to assess the applicants' profiles and rank them against one another. The top-ranking applicants usually receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for PR.
Tips to Increase Your CRS Score
The CRS score depends on your educational qualifications, work experience, linguistic competence, and other factors. Keeping these factors in mind, you can focus on the following tips to increase your chances of getting an ITA:
Enhance Your Educational Qualifications: Education holds significant value in the CRS scoring system, offering up to 200 points for studies outside Canada and 250 points for Canadian post-secondary credentials. You can boost your education score by acquiring extra qualifications, such as pursuing an additional degree. You may also increase your score by getting extra Educational Credential Assessments (ECAs) for your existing degrees.
Improve Your Language Proficiency: Linguistic competence can boost your score to a great extent. This is an area you can work on by taking additional courses and clearing language examinations. For example, achieving high scores in English and French language tests (like IELTS) can increase your final score.
Leverage Your Work Experience: If you accumulate more skilled work experience, both in Canada and abroad, you can get valuable CRS points. Often, candidates fail to claim CRS points for jobs that seem to be unskilled but are considered to be skilled jobs under the National Occupation Classification (NOC). A reliable Canada immigration agency can guide you to claim your points for your work experience, whether they were part-time or full-time.
Explore Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): You can research and explore PNPs to secure a provincial nomination and a significant CRS score boost. An experienced immigration agent can guide you through this process.
Secure a Job Offer: If you obtain a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, you can get considerable CRS points. You can scout relevant opportunities and submit applications to secure a job offer in Canada.
Make the Most of Family Ties: You can claim additional CRS points if you have a sibling who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. You can also leverage your spouse or common-law partner’s CRS score by making them the principal applicant if their qualifications are higher than yours.
These tips can help you transform your chances as you apply through the EE system. Consult a Canada immigration agency today to get more help!

Canada Unemployment at 5% After Adding 35,000 Jobs
“This primarily reflected an increase in the employment rate of South Asian women, which was up 4.7 percentage points over the period to reach 78.3 per cent in March. The employment rate for South Asian men was 89.5 per cent in March, little changed from 12 months earlier.”
Tumblr media
Core-aged Black Canadians, those 25 to 54 years old, had an employment rate of 79.9 per cent in  March, up from 78.6 per cent a year earlier.
“Among (Black) men, the employment rate rose 2.3 percentage points over the period and reached 85 per cent in March 2023,” notes Statistics Canada. “The increase was most notable in Ontario, where the employment rate for core-aged Black men rose 6.3 percentage points to reach 83.7 per cent.”
Across the county, employment rose in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and Prince Edward Island in March but declined in Saskatchewan.
Ontario saw 21,000 more people land jobs, bringing cumulative gains in employment in that province to 172,000 since September last year, as the unemployment rate held steady at 5.1 per cent.
Ontario Workers Landed 21,000 Jobs and Albertans 14,000 in March
In the Prairie province of Manitoba employment increased by 3,300 in March, the second consecutive monthly gain, while Alberta saw employment rise by 14,000, the third such increase in four months.
In Atlantic Canada, Prince Edward Island recorded employment growth of two per cent in March, the third increase in four months. The unemployment rate for the province was 6.6 per cent.
Tumblr media
In Saskatchewan, employment fell by 4,300 in March, the first notable decline since July last year as some part-time work dried up.
Canadian employers hoping to attract workers through economic immigration can recruit them through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and the International Mobility Program (IMP).
The Global Talent Stream (GTS), a part of the TFWP, can under normal processing situations lead to the granting of Canadian work permits and processing of visa applications within two weeks.
Employers can also bring in foreign nationals to fill available positions through the Express Entry system, which receives immigration applications online.
It powers the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST), and Canada Experience Class Program (CEC) which all draw from the Express Entry pool of candidates. Those with the required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores are then sent Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in regular draws.

Express Entry: Canada’s Application System for Permanent Residence
ECONOMIC CLASS•
Tumblr media
If you are thinking of immigrating to Canada, you may have already heard or encountered the words “Express Entry,” and maybe wondering what it is and how it works.
Most prospective skilled worker immigrants to Canada will go through the Express Entry (EE) system to begin their process. A person must meet the requirements of at least one of three programs - Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), or Federal Skilled Trades (FST) - in order to create an EE profile and be accepted in the EE pool of candidates.
Express Entry – What It Is and Is NOT
EE was implemented by the Canadian government in January 2015. At the time, it drastically changed the way applications for permanent residence concerning foreign skilled workers were received and processed.
Before the EE, for many years, Canada’s permanent residence (PR) application system was based on a first-come, first-served basis. If a person meets the requirements for a PR category, then all they need to do is submit the paper application forms along with the required documents and processing fees. If all requirements are met and medical and security checks are cleared, the applicants will be issued a PR visa, which facilitates them to trave to Canada to be granted PR status.
As you can imagine, this caused a large backlog and approving an individual file took a few years. As a result, the government decided to eliminate the backlog by closing all non-finalized applications under the FSW program and refunding the processing fees. They also stopped accepting paper applications for the FSW and CEC programs.
To replace the old system, EE was introduced. It was meant to make the immigration selection system more responsive to economic needs, shorten processing times, and give provinces another avenue to select their own immigrants.
EE is a system used by the government to select or invite EE candidates. It is important to note that EE is not a program  to immigrate to Canada. Rather, it is how the government manages and accepts PR applications for the programs mentioned above. Creating an EE profile does not mean you have already submitted an application for PR. Your EE profile is your message to Canada that you are interested in immigrating and that you have certain characteristics that make you a qualified candidate. Since the admission to the EE is not an application, the government does not charge fees to create an EE profile.
How it Works
It starts from when you create your individual profile in EE, which admits you to  a pool with other candidates. Your profile is given a score based on your characteristics such as age, language proficiency, work experience, and previous education. The government then undertakes “rounds of invitations” throughout the year to invite candidates from the pool to apply for permanent residence. The government sets an “invitation score” for each round. A candidate will receive an invitation if he or she meets or exceeds the invitation score set by the government for that particular round. Once invited, the candidate is given 90  days (update: changed to 60 days since June 26, 2018) to submit a PR application. Once the PR application is submitted, the candidate becomes an “applicant” and is taken out of the EE pool.
Both the EE profile and permanent residence application are done electronically. All information is entered online and supporting documents are uploaded on the system. Similarly, correspondences, updates, and the decision are sent and received through the EE system. Once the application is approved, the applicant will be requested to submit his or her passport to the responsible visa office for issuance of the permanent resident visa and/or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR). After an examination, the applicant can then formally obtain his or her status at a Canadian port of entry (e.g. airport or land border) or an in-land office of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) if they are already in Canada.
Requirements for EE Profile Creation
You will need to declare pertinent details about yourself, such as your date of birth, marital status, years of international work experience, previous Canadian study and work experience, funds available, and whether you have any  siblings who are Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents.
You also need to provide objective information regarding your language proficiency and international education. For language proficiency, you are required to declare results from an accredited language test (IELTS / CELPIP / TEF/TCF). For education obtained outside Canada, you will require an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from an accredited agency; there are several agencies you can choose from and the IRCC website has a complete list of these . Candidates who are married or in a common-law relationship can also have their spouse take a language test and ECA to gain more points.
This is where a candidate might get confused. Some may think that they are already submitting a PR application since they have already paid for and obtained these documents. Or they might hold off on doing the language test and ECA as they would first like to know their EE score. Although assumptions can be made regarding potential EE scores and whether EE is the right choice, no one can definitively say what your EE score will be until you get your language result and ECA; you cannot even create an EE profile until you get your language result. Each PR program  also requires a minimum language score. For example, FSW requires the equivalent of CLB 7. A lower language score will make you ineligible for this PR program  and ineligible for being an EE candidate, if you are not qualified in the other two PR programs as well .
Noteworthy Details for the Invitation to Apply
Under the EE system it is no longer enough to be qualified for either FSW, CEC, or FST. A candidate must also obtain a high enough score to be invited to apply for PR.
Think of EE as similar to applying for a job. The government has a certain number of openings they must fill. Your EE profile acts as your resume and you compete with other candidates in the pool. If your resume looks better than others, you get invited for an interview (apply for PR). You are not hired yet, but if your interview goes well, then you will get the pass to the job (your PR visa or/and CoPR).
Your EE profile must always be accurate, especially once you get invited, as the information entered there will form part of your PR application. You will also need to submit supporting evidence for such information. These documents will show the officer how you obtained your EE score and will confirm the validity of your invitation. Inaccurate or false information may result in refusal and even possible finding of misrepresentation.  Furthermore, it is very important to make your EE profile as competitive as possible. It might not be sufficient to meet the minimum language score and you may need to re-take the test to get a higher mark. You can also find other ways to increase your score such as exploring provincial nomination options or upgrading your education. Additional points are also awarded for Canadian study, Canadian work experience, French language skills, provincial nomination, and a valid job offer. A candidate who may be qualified under FSW but has a low EE score may consider applying for a student or work permit  first to gain points awarded to Canadian study and work experience and be more competitive in EE before reaching the ultimate goal of permanent residence.
Advanced planning and an overall immigration strategy is more crucial than ever with EE. I highly recommend seeking advice from an authorized and licensed immigration consultant who can assess your qualifications, recommend the best pathway, suggest ways to improve your EE score, and represent you in all stages of the immigration process. The matters discussed here are for general information only and do not constitute legal advice.

Immigrate to Canada through Express Entry Programs
Tumblr media
Express Entry is the fastest and most popular route to permanent residence for immigrants seeking a new life in Canada. Canada welcomes approximately 110,000 skilled workers each year through the Express Entry system.
Express Entry is the online system used by the Government of Canada to organize and process applications from skilled workers who wish to immigrate to Canada and seek Canadian permanent resident status. The system administers three main federal economic programs:
Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
If you qualify for any of the above programs, you can also apply for the Provincial Nominee Program through Express Entry.
Express Entry is very simple and contains two major stages. In the first major stage, candidates who are eligible for Express Entry indicate to the Canadian government their expression of interest in obtaining Canadian permanent resident status. In the second major stage, the Canadian government invites the highest-scoring candidates to immigrate to Canada.
How does Express Entry work?
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to submit your Express Entry profile and obtain a permanent resident visa to immigrate to Canada:
Step 1: Find out if you qualify for Express Entry.
Step 2: Take a language test and get an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
Step 3 – Submit your personal information to the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.
Step 4 – Wait to see if you have received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence from IRCC.
Step 5 – Submit your completed Application for Permanent Residence (APR) to IRCC and pay the fee by the specified deadline. During this step, you must attach your medical and criminal record certificates. IRCC will then send you a return receipt (AOR).
Step 6 – Submit your biometrics immediately when requested by IRCC.
Step 7: Wait for IRCC to make a final decision on your APR. IRCC aims to complete applications in 6 months or less. Once your application is approved, you will be issued a Certificate of Permanent Residence (COPR) and a permanent resident visa (if you are from a visa-requiring country) to travel to Canada and complete your landing.
Express Entry process time
Express Entry profiles are valid for up to one year. Candidates who receive an ITA can expect the Government of Canada to process their application for permanent residence within six months. The government begins counting processing times after it receives a completed permanent residence application. Processing time ends with a final decision on the application. If candidates do not receive an ITA within one year of creating their Express Entry profile, they can simply resubmit their profile if they are still eligible.
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool
Express Entry uses a points-based system, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), to rank candidates’ profiles. The top-scoring candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and can then apply for permanent residency.
After the candidate applies, an IRCC officer reviews the application and decides if they are approved. Once this is complete, if approved, the candidate is now a permanent resident of Canada and one step closer to becoming a Canadian citizen.
This tool will help you calculate your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on the answers you provide below. CRS is a points-based system that we use to rank and qualify your profile and place you in the Express Entry pool.
It’s used to assess your:
Skills
Education
Language ability
Work experience
Other factors
Express Entry immigrants find good jobs in Canada
Yes. A 2020 study by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) found that Express Entry immigrants are highly successful in the Canadian job market because they exhibit human capital characteristics that Canadian employers look for. The study found that Express Entry immigrants earn higher wages than the average Canadian worker and have high employment and low unemployment rates. Express Entry immigrants are expected to continue to outperform in the Canadian job market, as their skills remain in high demand by Canadian employers as more workers retire over the next decade. Canada relies on immigration to meet the economic and fiscal challenges of a rapidly aging population and low birth rate.
Can my family come with me under Express Entry?
Yes. In Express Entry, you can include your wife, husband, or partner. Also, you can include your dependent children, your spouse's or common-law partner's dependent children, and your dependent children's dependent children. If expedited entry is successful, family members traveling with you will also be granted permanent residency.
Dependent children are defined as:
under the age of 22 and not a spouse or common-law partner, or
Be at least 22 years of age, were financially dependent on a parent before age 22, and are unable to support themselves financially due to a physical or mental illness.
Make Canada your new home. New Bounds Immigration helps you take advantage of opportunities to move to British Columbia and Manitoba provinces. Don't miss out on this incredible chance - apply for a provincial nominee program with New Bounds Immigration today!

How are Express Entry profiles ranked?
The Express Entry system works by assigning points to each eligible applicant based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Your CRS score is calculated based on factors such as your age, education, language proficiency, and Canadian work experience. These points are then used to rank applicants in the Express Entry pool. The higher your CRS score, the better your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada.
The Express Entry points awarded depend on the factors listed above. For example, those who have a Canadian post-secondary degree or diploma will receive more points than those without any Canadian educational credentials. Similarly, having a high language proficiency will earn you more points than someone with lower proficiency. Additionally, applicants with experience in a Canadian regulated occupation will be awarded more points than those without this experience.
Overall, the higher your CRS score, the better your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada. It is important to maximize your Express Entry points by taking steps such as gaining additional educational qualifications, pursuing language training, and looking for job opportunities in Canada. With an improved CRS score, you can increase your chances of being selected from the Express Entry pool.
