I can't stop thinking about the 'Don't tap the glass! We're sleepy =) [doodle of this gecko and chameleon meme]' note on one of the reptile terrariums in Curt's secret basement lab at his house, like, on a Doylist level, it's probably just a cute detail the environment artists decided to throw in for fun, but if I think about it from a Watsonian perspective - if the meme came out in 2017 and the second game takes place in 2020, then the note would have been made after the first Lizard incident and his family left, so it's not presumptuous to assume Curt made the note himself, and I just love what it says about his character and what a sweet person and fun father and husband he is, and I wish we had gotten to see more of him like that as per the introduction scene at the Emily-May Foundation before he's stressed and depressed for the rest of the game, anyway, it also got me thinking about what would the purpose of a note like that even be if he's the only person who would be in the lab anyway, and now I'm rotating the idea that there's probably a part of him that still hopes his family will be reunited one day, so it would be both cute and sad if it's technically for his son in the future, like the doodle of the pig on the sticky note that must have been on the fridge for years now if it was most likely drawn for him.

Earlier this week, Meta executive Connor Hayes told the Financial Times that the company is going to roll out AI character profiles on Instagram and Facebook that “exist on our platforms, kind of in the same way that accounts do … they’ll have bios and profile pictures and be able to generate and share content powered by AI on the platform.” 

This quote got a lot of attention because it was yet another signal that a “social network” ostensibly made up of human beings and designed for humans to connect with each other is once again betting its future on distinctly inhuman bots designed with the express purpose to pollute its platforms with AI-generated slop, just like spammers are already doing and just like Mark Zuckerberg recently told investors the explicit plan is. In the immediate aftermath of the Financial Times story, people began to notice the exact types of profiles that Hayes was talking about, and assumed that Meta had begun enacting its plan. 

But the Meta controlled, AI-generated Instagram and Facebook profiles going viral right now have been on the platform for well over a year and all of them stopped posting 10 months ago after users almost universally ignored them. Many of the AI-generated profiles that Meta created and announced have been fully deleted; the ones that remain have not posted new content since April 2024, though their chat functionality continues to work. 

Peoples’ understandable aversion to the idea of Meta-controlled AI bots taking up space on Facebook and Instagram has led them to believe that these existing bots are the new ones “announced” by Hayes to the Financial Times. In Hayes’ quote, he says that Meta ultimately envisions releasing tools that allow users to create these characters and profiles, and for those AI profiles to live alongside normal profiles. So Meta has not actually released anything new, but the news cycle has led people to go find Meta’s already existing AI-generated profiles and to realize how utterly terrible they are.

I guess it could be seen as Markus deciding for himself to endure or not, but still… I don’t really like it. I think the scene would’ve gone better if things were changed around a little bit

Carl says not to do anything. It registers in Markus’ mind-palace as a command, you know from his owner. But Markus isn't a common model, and I think one way we can elude to this early is with those dialogue boxes that pop up after Carl's order

As the player presses the button or shakes the controller(i'm not sure how console is played). Markus is faced with a familiar Red Wall. Once it shatters, we immediately push Leo down. Carl suffers a heart attack and the rest of chapter plays as normal

This gives us a reason to want to be peaceful in the future- We tried fighting back and look! Markus got blamed for something he didn't do, was SHOT, thrown away like trash and to make things worse his father figure passed away, too. Love the guy, but Carl's death would be some great motivation for the whole “You can't fight violence with violence” thing. Right up Cage's alley, huh?

Fantastic. but where's the real change? What if we endure? Well... I think what we need is a consequence for remaining a machine. Say we wait the invisible timer out out, We'll be the bigger person in the scenario! Surely Carl will wrangle in his son, and we can go back to serving scotch and painting! Or maybe not. Carl can't handle his son and Leo just won't stop instigating, All this jostling around can't be good for Markus' bio-components and with those demonstrators in town earlier? How stressful! The damage is just too much! Markus shuts down. Game Over. RIP a real one

so Markus can survive getting shot at but not punched a few times? yes. that's exactly it.

TLDR: Broken but markus’ story ends if he doesn’t deviate 🤷‍♀️

Okay, but Connor and Kara? Well Kara isn't all that relevant. so her story can stay the same. sorry girl

I think honestly Connor can also stay pretty much the same too. Except, there's no huge pro-android movement, so that means no pivot to locating Jericho

We're stuck with the basic cases we have before Public Enemy. In a scenario without Markus, without any big deviant leader to chase after, we pretty much skip Connors last few chapters and can end with maybe an altered machine ending something... idk man… this wasn't about him

Daring Charming is the next Catwoman to Ravens Batman.

Reason 1.) He’s in love with Raven, and like how there’s a bat there has to be a cat.

Reason 2.) He’s been secretly a fan of Selena Kyle’s work for years, then he accidentally saw her taking some valuables from his castle as a child and saw the freedom that she has that he could only dream of. Selena sets him straight that it’s still dangerous even though it’s freeing.

Reason 3.) He helped her that day and insisted that she trains him in the art of thievery since he doesn’t want to be a Prince Charming anymore because it puts the most pressure on him as the eldest child.

Reason 4.) Daring is more self aware, hates what’s happening and has a banking account under a different name ‘Simone Kyle’ that Selena helped create so that when it hits the fan he can just disappear into thin air. He saved a lot of money from his paychecks from the cat sanctuary that he willingly works at, getting his cut from stealing valuable items (nobody else knows about that little detail except Selena as his mentor), and his allowance. Everyone else thought that he wanted to experience what it’s like working at a job as a way to humble himself before becoming Apple Whites Prince Charming.

And

Reason 5.) He knows that eventually that his parents will disown him if and when they discover that he’s the cat burglar ‘Stray’. Knowing them Daring will also be disinherited and financially cutoff as well.

On legacy day he’s nervous but puts on a brave face, when he sees that he’s the next Catwoman, he proudly declares that he’ll be the next Catwoman of Gotham City, future city siren, and signs the storybook of legends enthusiastically. Then goes to sit next to Raven since he’s the Cat to her Bat.

One, I love this, but I imagine Bruce finds out real quick and basically almost acts like a father figure to Daring, especially once he notices that Daring may have feelings for Raven.

And hey he has Roy, Wally, Connor, and Jon as son in laws, what's an actual prince as a son in law when his only bio daughter is a princess.

Selina took him under her wing of course and let him follow her in heists, but made him stay hidden because well sometimes some of them go bad due to the other rouges trying to do a heist as well and all that. She only gets him during the summer really and it's easy for his parents to not notice him missing much to Selina's dismay.

Daring fell in love with Raven the moment he saw her on TV when she made her first public appearance and sure he hears every now and then from his parents that Raven isn't a pureblooded royal due to being an illegitimate child of Queen Mira Queen-King and Bruce Wayne.

But hey Bruce Wayne was considered The Prince of Gotham, the Waynes were treated like Royalty, meaning to him Raven was indeed a full royal.

But he fell more in love with her once they met in school and saw how majorly different she was from Apple when it came to them doing good deeds.

Raven didn't seek praise nor bragged about her charity work, Apple was the opposite.

Yeah there was an uproar when Daring announced in Legacy Day that he was The Next Catwoman/Catman to the Batman story

Although since this Batman/woman has magic the next gen Batman villains might be screwed especially since Raven can do both dark and light magic.

Pop Fizz - Pop Fizz is an alchemist and while Seiko technically isn't one, she might as well be. Their concoctions can often times be ridiculous, giving people strange powers or having interesting effects on their body, most notably drinking their main concoction allows both of them to turn into powerful monsters with insane strength and capabilities.

Lizard - Both in their natural state are timid scientists who create strange concoctions; with the intention of helping people around them. In one way or another, both are impaired (Seiko was born with an illness that required her to take regular doses of medicine to stay alive and prevented her from eating food with high sugar levels, and Connors is an amputee who lost his arm while working as a combat medic) and both work as important scientists for a well-known, well-established organization (Future Foundation for Seiko and either S.H.I.E.L.D or Oscorp for Connors depending on the iteration) Due to the power of their unique medicine, both of them can turn into powerful, destructive monsters that can tear apart anything in their path.

Takemi - Takemi in ScruffyTurtles Adult Confidant AU, AKA Doc, shares the same backstory as her main-game counterpart, which is similar to Seiko's. Both were born with a weak physical complexion that required them to receive constant medical care as a child, and as a result became prodigy’s in medicinal practices (Seiko became the Ultimate Pharmacist and Takemi became a well-respected junior Doctor by the time she was in college). Both of them also had a close relationship with someone who seemed to look after them, only for their relationship to become strained as a result of that persons actions in manipulating them (Seiko was Ruruka Ando's best friend, but was constantly used by her and constantly gaslit and guilt-tripped into doing what she wanted, and Takemi was a student of Hinaharu Sakimaru, who acting like a motherly figure to her while secretly dragging her into her organ trafficking schemes). After reaching their breaking point, both unlocked their unique powers through external means and fought against that person (Seiko became a monster with her medicine and tried to hunt Ruruka in the Final Killing Game, and Takemi awakened to her Persona, Metradora, after confronting Hinahara’s Shadow.)

Moira - Both characters are scientists who dabble in what many can consider to be inhumane and illegal experiments, and typically use human test-subjects for said practices (Seiko creates strange medicines with weird effects, like increasing someone's strength to it's max or making people hot and horny, and in Danganronpa 3, she usually gives these concoctions to Teruteru to use in his cooking, which leads Class 77 to unknowingly and unwillingly become her Guinea Pigs; and Moira frequently uses animals and humans for her bio-engineering experiments with varying results, including Gabriel Reyes, who due to her experiments would eventually become Reaper) Due to some unfortunate events, they were kicked out of their residence of work (Seiko is expelled from Hope's Peak and Moira was blacklisted by Overwatch) but eventually went on to join an equally powerful organization who put their skills to good use; albeit on different sides (Seiko joins the heroic Future Foundation and becomes the Head of Branch 4, while Moira joins the villainous Talon and becomes their lead scientist)

Coyle - Both are scientists who experiment with medicine and/or tech designed to make them stronger, typically by using the people around them as test subjects against their will and knowledge (As mentioned, Seiko used other students at Hope's Peak, specifically Class 77, as a means of testing her medicine, and Dr Coyle observed and collected data from the other ARMS fighters) and in the end, both ended up subjecting themselves to their own experiments in order to achieve their own ends and assure their survival (Seiko took her own Doping Corn Soup to become a monster during the Final Killing Game, and Coyle allowed Hedlok, a menacing masked robot that attaches itself to other fighters, to take over her own body for a boost of power and strength). Both also had a very tight relationship at one point with another character in their series, but had a falling out down the line and became worst enemies as a result (Ruruka Ando and Max Brass respectively).

hello friends! it is time! Below the cut I have included connections and plot ideas that i have for my current characters. If there are any that interest you please reach out - especially if you have a lot of muses - otherwise give this a like and I will come to you

CARDAN GREENBRIAR.

I'll start this off by saying that Cardan is not available for shipping, he's one of my few characters where I have it in his bio that he's married to his canon partner (im obsessed with them, truly)

I would love to see people that he's pranked or gotten into fight with before, he has the ability to glamour things and could also technically make humans do whatever he wants, though he's trying to behave

some friends would be fun, of course, cardan is a bit of an alcoholic if i'm being honest and he can be a bit cruel to anyone he doesn't like HOWEVER he has gotten better and can be a good friend and person. it just takes some time and patience

CONNOR HOLSTROM.

I would love for him to have a few roommates - maybe four people sharing an apartment? I think that could be super entertaining

A group of friends, i do plan on him gaining his memories back eventually and befriending the other characters from the crescent city books but i think it would be entertaining and good for future angst if he had made some solid friendships before his memories return. Connor is into sports and fitness and also drinks in his free time

Gym buddies! he works at a gym and i feel like he would have made friends there

Someone, or maybe a few people, who he just doesnt get along with. Where they bicker/banter and leave every conversation rolling their eyes at each other

a midgame ship. I kind of want him to meet someone and think that theyre the one for him but then something happens where they end up breaking up. I do see him as bi so it could be boy or girl and we can discuss reasonings for the breakup as we go

an endgame ship. i almost want it to be someone that he's friends with and ends up developing feelings for them.

NINA ZENIK

Bi queen, however shipping is already going to be a mess for her. Nina is a flirt and currently doesn't have her memories so if we would like to add more angst i would gladly do some flirtationships and maybe have her go on a few dates

Lots of friends please! Nina is an extrovert and has a huge heart. She's very confident and can be self sacrificing almost ( definitely ) to a degree where it's a flaw

I do think she'd definitely have enemies or people she doesn't get along with, she's very outspoken about her opinions and I think it'd be fun to have someone that she doesn't get along with even if it's something small and all they do is bicker

i think that a roommate or two would also be entertaining! I definitely dont think she would live alone

INQUISITOR ANDROMEDA LAVELLAN.

Andromeda is very playful and flirty so I could definitely see her having some flings and even one night stands

friends will be hit or miss, she can befriend anyone but she also has trust issues so while she may be friendly it might take awhile for a real friendship to form

i'd like some workout buddies for her! She's definite a regular at the gym and I can also see her as the type to go for a run every morning

reading buddies/book club? She's only recently started reading for fun but it's something that she enjoys and i'd love to see her bond through that ( also her bragging that one of her closest friends is an author )

i also think it could be fun for her to bond with others from different fantasy worlds, just seeing them discuss the differences could be entertaining, i think

SUNNY BAUDELAIRE.

I would love for her to go on some dates, I'm not sure how much of a settling down type Sunny is but I'd love to explore chemistry with her and see who she vibes with. I think she's still learning for herself and it could be really fun

Friends! she definitely cooks for them at any given opportunity

a best friend, i want someone outside of her siblings that she feels comfortable letting down her guard for

Coworkers, maybe they aren't super close friends but the type of people that she gets along with and they have a camaraderie despite being very different people, give me one adult that she actually trusts of the head chef that she works for

I could see her having enemies and I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if there were time that she had gotten physical with them

Grayromantic and Asexual-had a crush on Andy but didn't understand until the party, didn't make a move because he was convinced Andy would laugh at him or say yes only to hurt him later

Normally would have been able to shake the belief away eventually, but he was stressed as hell and there was no time

had no lore or weapons, spent no extra time with his friends, convinced they didn't want him around or that he would mess things up if he was

unwittingly tanked his friends nerve because of his pessimism, the urge to be blunt about his negative feelings, and his general social ineptness (being a good friend was easier when he was 8)

felt that Noah was a kindred spirit and understood having a shitty home life but was pushed away every time he tried to relate

everyone died and Noah murdered him

came back to life resentful and fearful of Noah and everyone else both for rational and not reasons (mostly rational, he had enough of an issue being wary of perfectly nice people of course he was terrified of everyone in that cabin)

was vindicated by Connor being a Horror, Jocelyn betraying everyone, and Ruben Masters (ILW MC) killing him to gain power

was in and out of therapy until 16 when his mom cancelled it after deeming Lance 'fine enough' which led to his own Winter Formal Incident

sometimes sees shadows or leaves that fade when he looks, sometimes more vivid like reexperiencing but not fully, actual reexperiencing, hears children's giggles or his name being called--happens about once a month and mostly related to his PTSD, when in a good place is aware they aren't real, but when he's stressed or exhausted the line gets blurry...

With him and Kara now married and officially both Fraynes, they started the family they always knew they were supposed to have together.  They have a two year old daughter named Ember and a newborn son who they named River.  It is too early to tell what the full extent of the kids’ abilities are, however Connor knows Kara is right in believing that they are Metas.

Despite both being in fairly risky jobs, the Fraynes make sure that the kids remain their full priority. While Connor remains in the field, he’s supportive of Kara’s decision to take a slight step back and run her company. The last thing either of them want is to leave the children parentless.
