-yeah, my favorites are chobe, toma and fuchi i think.

-shion and tenza's relationship is lovely

-damn nurugai made me tear up

-gosh i hope shion can keep his word and be with nurugai on the mainland. the sensei usually perish along the way

-the iwagakure shinobi took one look at the convicts and their asaemon allies and went "WHEEEEEEE MURDER!"

-i kinda think poor gabimaru got a little short-changed; sagiri, too, for the exact same reasons, but i'll focus on gabimaru as he's the face of hell's paradise. i think he got his epiphany and change of heart too soon and he's been emotionally static since then, whereas most of the side-characters have been on a personal journey from the beginning, slowly learning and evolving, and it makes them so much more compelling to observe.

-er. yuzuriha? what kind of takesies-backsies death was that. i mean, yeah, she didn't get a certificate of death or anything, but still. eh, whatever.

-i really like shugen, he's the hero of his own story and an antagonist in the main story, and he could easily be the righteous protag of his own manga, but he happens to be in this manga where he's a hindrance

-SHUGEN FUCKING KILLED FUCHI?! AVENGE HIM, SOMEONE ANYONE

-i'd missed grumbling gabimaru

Hell's Paradise

I just finished watching Hell's Paradise (the 13 episodes of season 1, bcs I heard that there will be season 2 which I'm really excited about) today. Now, first and foremost i want to express how much I love this series and the characters in it.

I think this series deserves a 10 out of 10 I don't care what other people think or say. I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

The setting, the island, the worldbuilding, the characters, and just everything u know? Like the weird mixture between fantasy and reality. I just love that so much. Another thing that absolutely makes me like it is because there is somehow an element of artificiality(?) in that world. It's kinda like uncanny valley. Even before we meet all the weird ass creatures and monsters and whatnot, the island itself, despite being so beautiful, feels kind of fake. It doesn't have that beauty that nature has. It's like so full of what makes nature beautiful, but it's kinda like when you throw and mesh all of them together that it just feels fake, and also kinda eerie (it feels like it's begging you to see it as a haven you know?) And I love that.

I also like the philosophy? ideology? idk what to call it, but the one of the main idea in this series about balance. About how it is as important to be weak as it is to be strong. How you can't only just be strong, but also have to embrace your weakness and how both of them are a part of you as a whole. I also like the idea that embracing your weakness is a strength in itself.

And last but definitely not least, I love the characters pleaaaseeeeeeeee..... I love Sagiri, I love Gabimaru, I love Choubei n his brother, Shion, Fuchi, Yuzuriha, Yui, all of themmmmmmmm!!! But especially Gabimaru. He is just so precious I can't. Him and his wife both are just adorable. But I also absolutely adores Choubei. He's kinda a prick at first, but I'm just weak for people that cares so deeply about someone else and would do anything for them you know.... I think that he is actually a really warm and soft person and I'm kinda sad because I don't think he is the type of character that is going to survive at the end 😔😔😔😔

Anyways, this is a really good series, amazing story, amazing animation, I absolutely recommend to give this a watch!!

Hello I read hells paradise a year ago and have been dying to talk ab it. It was SO GOOD. I love the relationship between shion and that one kid and I loved the brothers so much esp I think aza was his name. I don’t remember names but I remember the entire plot 😭it was so creative and interesting

WTFFFF. chobei and toma just reunited and. they started killing the 2 lord tenses (? idk how else to say this) that they had fought earlier!!! omg that was sooo cool!!! and touma saying "an undone braid means im lying" GENIUS. JUST GENIUS. they're becoming my favorites. literally. i love their relationship!! and yuzuriha and gabimaru fighting ran!!! that was sooo cool. but yuzuriha😭😭😭 idk for sure if she's dead. but. if she is. ill miss her so much.

what’s jigokuraku it looks very interesting

oh! short version: it basically goes like this. 

long version: it’s a horror/action manga about about death row prisoner gabimaru whos on his way to being executed, teaming up with his executioner attempting to get a pardon for being a ninja/assassin-for-hire because he fell in love with his Marriage Of Convenience Wife who taught him how to open his heart and develop empathy and compassion, genuinely get along with others, and that he actually fell in love with for real... so he gets sent to Death Island basically where everything is trying to kill him (and others also trying to get the pardon) and is doing everything in his power to make it back to his wife.

tw for: body horror, eye horror, insect horror, amputation... plant horror, nudity (theres A LOT of this), sexual discussion/sexual content, self harm, burning (?) murder... other various types of gore that I can not recall the proper terms for rn bc I’m tired & medicated rn... basically if you have nsfw/gore on your blacklist idk if you’d be interested in this! there’s also more that i should probably warn for, unfortunately i can not think rn so this is like... general scratching the surface stuff. it’s getting an anime adaption which should be a lot more toned down fr tv audiences! u may wanna watch the anime when it comes out bc i know it’ll be censored like most gorey manga is. not all of these happen all the time but i’m well aware im desensitized to drawn horror so i cant say if this is extremely graphic or not so im like. warning you jic of everything that may or may not be an issue (that im able to recall rn) bc idk your tastes/sensitivity level.

(Won't spoil anything cause I know some people are reading it right now and might see this hehe) BUT AAAAHHHHH MY NEW FAVORITE FOR SURE! I can't wait for the fanarts and fics that are gonna come once the anime hits 😍 like its taking everything in me not to start a fic for Chobei right now! I love him and Toma so much! i just love how this whole tao thing is about the balance of power and weakness. that to have something to lose (like gabimaru has his wife and chobei has touma) that makes them powerful and strong. that's such a beautiful concept.
