The thing about Microsoft shutting down Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin is that it isn't really a case of finance bros not understanding how game development works. Sure, saying "we need smaller games that will win us awards" while shuttering studios which have a record of producing smaller, award-winning games looks dumb on paper, but you need to know how to parse corporate doublespeak.

In brief, they want the prestige of producing smaller, award-winning games, but not the risk. The way you get the former without the latter is by constantly buying up independent studios which already have successful titles in their portfolios, keeping them around long enough to provide post-launch support, crank out paid DLC for their already-proven properties, and finish development of whatever is currently in the pipeline, then dismantle them and shut them down before they get any funny ideas about risking your money on new, unproven projects.

If you're thinking "hey, that sounds a lot like a predatory business model", well, exactly.

Pride Month

For Pride Month in June, Interact-IF is bringing back one of its beloved events, spotlighting queer (LGBTQ+) authors and their interactive fiction projects (here’s the 2021 series).

Throughout June, we hope to celebrate the massive queer representation these stories and games help provide, as well as the awesome IFs created by and for the queer community.

We will feature a masterlist of interaction fiction written by queer authors, and select a couple to interview about their experiences and creative process! The interview will be done fully via a text Q&A format.

I feel like genshin's bad writing issues aren't really the same as other gachas just because the structure of the game itself is very different compared to card collection-based ones. It's not really a matter of retconning character development for the sake of sales, there IS absolutely dogshit writing in this game but imo it's not really tied to the gacha itself in the same way because the entire storyline including the characters' individual ones aren't really gated by owning them and the developers are fully aware that the characters will sell themselves regardless of what their story is as long as they're cute anime characters because a significant chunk of the fanbase doesn't even know how to read

Why does everyone to feel the need to prove Their Girl is the canon ship in ffvii. I think the narrative is a lot richer if you acknowledge cloud has deep feelings for both Aerith and Tifa, just like they have for him and each other.

so apparently pocket camp is shutting down and they're replacing it with an offline version you just pay for once and then have forever and man maybe this is wishful thinking but if in the new one you can access all the limited time & paid items with just bells or something then I'll probably get back into pocket camp. Yes ik her first ability is similar to Scraps but it's like how Ginger's and Sprout's healing sight radius is longer than Cosmo's and Colo's tail isn't restricted to straight lines so she's a bit like an Updated Scraps. I'm ok with changing her first ability though too. If you're asking, she wraps her tail around machines and Toons and doesn't use her end bit like a grapple. It's okay if you reject the idea of adding Colo or my OCs but I do have some ideas I can give to you and the team and game and I will still contribute art and writing/lore wise! Signed- S.T. P.S. ok this game has so many glitches or just fuck ups in general compared to its predecessors its a little funny. the worst i got in city was getting stuck in a wall once but here theres just inexplicably jack ryder tied to a table by an evil preacher despite the fact that i have already completed that mission and saved him

There are currently only 3 BGM tracks that feature vocals. Two of these tracks are unnamed and unreleased, but sung by main/major characters. Kohane sings a solo song in Kick it up a notch, and Taiga sings a solo song in Light Up the Fire.

One of these tracks is quite unusual. It was featured in the RE:START from Here! event and was released on the first OST under the title Nijiiro Garland (see video at the top of post). The singer is not a named character (it's sung by the idol that inspired Airi when she was a child), and the voice actor also goes uncredited. It's unknown why this is the only instance of an unnamed character singing a BGM track, let alone being the only instance of a vocal BGM track for over two years until the Kohane song was used.
