Daily fish fact #466
Garfish!
It is a species of needlefish found in the Atlantic Ocean, Baltic Sea, Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea! Because their migration patterns are similar to mackerels', they used to be believed to be guiding or protecting the mackerel! This would give them names like mackerel guide or mackerel guardian.

Daily fish fact #482
Garfish!
Their slender, long body and dorsal and anal fins located far back on their body allows them to achieve fast and flexible movements! They're pelagic fish, hunting prey close to the surface.

LOCAL REPORTS Plenty of Garfish about and decent sizes coming in around the 35-38cm mark this week from Grange, West Beach, Glenelg. Plenty of people chasing snook, but Tommy Rough around snapping up all the tails of your soft plastics from Glenelg to Brighton paddle tailz are winning this battle. Nice size Snook around 70-80cm from Glenelg and Brighton. Squid still coming in good numbers from Glenelg and Brighton Jetties along with some nice bags from the boat. Flathead in the shallows between Glenelg and Brighton have been plenty around and definitely worth chasing. Yellowfin Whiting is really starting to come on with some nice captures this week coming after the run out of the tide. Some nice specimens last night at Glenelg Jetty around 12.20pm in the shadows. Also, Tennyson, Seacliffe, Brighton, Grange, Semaphore, and Largs all produce good numbers. Tuna are on the bite most fish around the 8-10kg coming from the Cape, Rapid Bay areas, Victor is a fair bit slower than usual with the River Murray flow but their are some bigger fish to be had. Spreader bars and Daisy chains will be your best friend in teasing the bigger fish to the top. Kingfish are in great numbers a lot around 80-100cm. Bigger kings have also been caught. It's definitely worth taking the 150-200g jigs and having a crack. There are plenty of Shark's coming from the screw pole jetty off Granite Island. Bronze's up to 7ft have been getting caught and released, with also the occasional white coming through. Plenty going on locally in Adelaide and down the Fleurieu Peninsula. Make the most the great weather, get the kids out, and get them hooked.
