My headcannon backstory for why Myra is the way she is is she grew up kinda in the inverse situation of Eddie. She was raised by a single father who adultified her so much she was basically a replacement for own mom, making her only able to process love/being important through taking care of people. If she's not in crontrol of some one and taking care of them then she freaks the fuck out and assumes she's not important anymore. Her and Eddie kinda enable each others toxic tendencies their parents put into them, although just because Eddie enables her and her childhood sucked doesn't mean he deserves the abuse. Sometimes the most abusive relationships are just two people with issues who rub of on each other and make the issues worse.

Again, this post is not to defend Myra or make Eddie look like an abuser, it's just my attempt to explain why Myra is so much like Sonia.
