16. show us some revision resources you’ve made recently

the revision resource that i’m currently working on in a-level french, is a list of essay plans.

for anybody who’s interested in a-level languages, we’ve been studying “l’auberge espagnole” since february half term. here’s a bit about the process so far:

we first looked at the context for the film, and the director, cédric klapisch.

then, we looked at the main characters and how they are generally presented (plus, some background on the actors too).

i made a character file for each of the characters (focusing on the stereotypes they fall into, as cultural identity is a very prominent theme)

we brainstormed scenes relating to each of the themes suggested by the exam board

then we briefly looked at individual shots of scenes, to make sure i was secure in my knowledge of the storyline

we also did a sort of written “hot-seating” to get inside the heads of some of the main characters

we also took a lesson to research quotes online, however, i found that most of them only fell into one theme, so im going to have to go on a quote hunt when i next watch the film

for my first try at writing an essay, i was given three options to plan and discuss with my teacher, before choosing the one i felt most comfortable with

one of the most beneficial lessons for me, was watching the final scene of the film (arguably the most famous) and making a storyboard that i annotated with cinematic techniques and links to themes

SIXTH FORM TIPS👩‍💻 I'm not an expert but here's some tips I've gathered from watching a few YouTube videos✨ 1️⃣ treat it like a job in 3 ways: get it done on time, promotion comes with time, go the extra mile. You have to keep up with the work at the workplace and learn as you go, skills you can use at a level. 2️⃣not many people say this but getting a D in the first few mocks/assessments is totally NORMAL. Even with familiar subjects like English,Chemistry or maths, you're starting new right from day one. Don't be discouraged when you don't see results you expect, you can work up to it. 3️⃣"managing" is not the same as coping healthily. the next two years of your life are gonna go fast and they're probably gonna be difficult, but notice when you're wellbeing isn't aligning with your work. time doesn't stop and it's best if you help yourself recover right away. 4️⃣whether you're going to uni or taking a gap yah or working a 9-5, you'll never get back these teens years. If there's events or parties you want to to go to, go. i am very happy

bit annoyed about english because i did slightly better in the mocks and i was 2 marks off what i wanted for both lit and lang but i’m generally over the moon !!!

So uh Y10 exams flew by...

I’m happy with my results so far. Three 9s, four 8s and a 7. Turns out only two of the papers were this year’s GCSE, so prepare for very late thoughts on those!
