So, why Does Ozpin Reincarnate Like That?

Ozpin says that he will always reincarnate with a like-minded soul, but that’s not what the god of light says! He tells Ozma,

“Until your task is complete, you will reincarnate, but in a manner that ensures you are never alone.”

Never alone ≠ Like-minded!

Think about the difference between Salem’s immortality and Ozpin’s. Salem’s is marred by loneliness and isolation; forever stuck in her ways and remains the same.

Ozpin’s is explicitly the opposite. He tries out Salem’s method (completely hijacking the first guy RIP). That fails. So, instead he learns to work with the souls he gets paired to. He makes new connections, gains different experiences. He is changed.

However, Ozpin had firmly sunken into the trap that Ruby is teetering on. They both believe it is their sole duty to save the world. Be the hero. Seeking stability, they withdraw into old habits and suffer for it.

But!! Ozpin has Oscar!! When Ozpin left, Oscar was around to pick up the slack. He reconsiders his role on the team, takes risks, reaches out, and gets stuff done! He learns from Ozpin’s mistakes!

Ruby needs to realize that as much as she thinks people are relying on her, she needs to rely on them. Neither her or Oscar really asked for any of this, true. But it’s important that they learn to address challenges, change, and keep moving forward.

So since Fermín is rumoured/has already changed the leathers brand and it's rumored to be due to poor fitting, I decided to look into the racing gear of the tall riders.

First of all we need a list of all the riders (permanent, test, wildcards and replacement to get as much data as I can) that have been on a weekend this year.

With the exception of Pedrosa's and Zurutuza's height all comes from MotoGP website (beef with them because some are wrong, but we roll with it). Dani comes from a random article on the net, and Xabi comes from KTM's website (for some reason they don't have their height listed).

The racing gear list has been done with the aid of this Twit and then looking at the rider's photos in MotoGP site (again beef with them if I put a rider with the wrong gear due to the photo). The ones with the question mark is me not being able to really figure out or being unsure of the branding after searching the riders social media pages. Some do tag it, others don't.

So now we have our riders, so we need to define which are tall, and who isn't. In this case, we will define them when a rider is taller than the mean.

To make things easier, riders are being considered tall when they are 173cm or taller (my first guess was 175cm, so I wasn't that far off). So now this is our new ser of data

And this are new means (just to keep in mind)

Now, let's look at all the data. How many riders in each category are considered tall? And what are the brands they use?

Apparently across all classes, Alpinestars is the most popular one (12 out of the 58 "tall riders") with 20.7%. In 'Others, I include the ones I wasn't sure, the ones with just 1 or 2 riders to make the data easier to look at).

So far, we can see that no MotoGP rider uses Macna, which are the leathers Fermín is/has been using, but they are Dainese riders in Moto2. Something that is interesting is that only REV'IT and Alpinestar supply riders in all categories.

Now the question would be, is Fermín too tall for Macna? Would he fit better with Dainese. To see that, we can see the high distribution across all manufacturers.

According to MotoGP, Fermín is 181cm tall (which I actually disagree, I think he's even over 184 but that's another matter). If we look at Daniese, they supply for both Luca and Joan (and Vale), which might be the reason why I associate tall people with Dainese. However, Bo Bedsneyder, who according to MotoGP is 184cm, does use Macna and doesn't seem to have an issue.

Now, we can look at the means of each category and brand.

It seems like Alpinestar seems to be have the lowest mean, which can mean they do supply the riders in the lower portion of out select group of riders, Interestingly, Macna and Furygan seem to supply the riders in the tall part of it.

And those are the numbers

Macna, REV'IT and Furygan do have the higher means, but they also only supply 6 (soon to be 5), 8 and 6 riders. Alpinestars does in fact have the lowest mean, with Ixon, and if you compare with the mean of each category, they never reach it.

When looked at all the data combined, we can actually see that Magna and Furygan seems to place in the top and top-middle of the list. Alpinestar and REV'IT is all over the place, while Ixon seems to be a choice for the shorter riders of this portion.

We can't draw too many conclusions due to the small sample size. But I think it's interesting to look at. I do know there are some test I can perform with the data and see if really Macna and Dainese are chosen by taller riders more than 'short' ones, but I can't actually remember them at the moment. Tried out this waist belt leash today and was mostly happy with the waist belt. I didn't expect great things, but it wasn't uncomfortable, took pressure off of my wrists, and works fine. My only real gripe other than it not being a proper canicross waist belt (which. To be clear, i knew when i bought it lol) is the leash it came with being 4 ft vs 6 ft. I don't enjoy Torch being that close to me constantly, it meant if he was walking in front of me even at the very end of it, i was constantly very close to accidentally kicking him just walking normally. So we quickly went back to the mendota leash i have and love lol. Used one of the clips from the leash that came with this to attach and and just clipped the other end to my backpack so it was out of the way and that worked nicely. I'll probs get a carabiner to use, and eventually a 6 ft leash that's carabiner to carabiner/clip, and I do wanna get a proper waist belt that's more comfy for longer distance/time frames.

so a bit of lore, i played piano since i was a kid, so i wasnt really struggling with that part of playing the bass, but my sister (who’s also learning bass but never had the piano background) said the first few weeks she couldnt play for long before her hands and arms are tired (like around 2 hrs with breaks max?)

and it also kinda depends on which finger, it’ll be harder for your pinkie than the pointer finger, so your pinkie might get tired faster than your pointer, things like that. you gotta start slow and build up strength and endurance :)

also something a bit more technical is, it depends on your action, that means the distance of the string to the fretboard, if it’s too high then it’s gonna take more effort to press it, the way i set up mine is high enough that it doesn’t buzz, but i have a friend who likes his strings a bit high, so it’s preference. but if you’re new i’d suggest a setting like mine.

I’m pretty confident that the backpack will work well on the trip but if you’ve used one (or a similar style of backpack) and have tips/suggestions I’d love to hear them. Gearing Up for 2024?

Not so much as to get my hands on the shiniest camera or lens or computer per se, but on what is lacking so as to ensure the whole ground is properly covered.

You see…there’s normally two scenarios where gear gaps emerge, either via reselling them away or eventual failure of these equipments. But there be a third and possibly fourth exception handling - one created when you see fit to pass it on to someone you know may need it more.

Of course I cannot endorse on the fourth, where an individual embark on a senseless gouge feast on anything announced as the next best thing since sliced bread. I am talking about sensible, sane conduct sort of gearing up.

With that, I stumbled upon a USD200 fully decked-out Mac Mini (late 2014) equipped with a 3.0GHz i7, 16GB memory and 2TB Fusion (“fused” with an additional 128GB SSD by Apple) Drive while returning my Nikon Z8 to Nikon last week. It sure can come in handy to somewhat control the population of my mobile hard drives lying around (about 10 of them today) the house, while possibly rejuvenating the use of my iPad Pro 12.9 in a headless mode.

This machine’s previous owner must have easily coughed up USD1799 to own it in the first place and the prospect of bootcamping it to Windows OS concurrently makes this fairly-portable device a gem over my “given-away” Asus Ally.

I guess this “new” stop-gap solution will have to do to house all flagged raw images of mine as I eagerly await for a worthy RDNA 4 machine to be hopefully introduced later in 2024.

The Vampire Aesthetic

Ok so Danny knows two billionaires personally and they really couldn’t be more different. Yet they had one thing in common. A vampire aesthetic. Sam is fully into goth. Spiderwebs, bats, the color black. She enjoys fangs and fake blood and the darkness of her soul. Meanwhile, Vlad is Vlad. If his name wasn’t enough, the dark clothing, pale skin, and flying around with a cape and fangs with coffins in his mansion really sells it.

Danny doesn’t know many rich people so he thinks this might be some kind of trend. (If Paulina is rich, her family likes the chupacabra) So he just thinks that all rich people have some kind of vampire thing going on.

Cue Danny somehow ending in the Wayne household. Maybe he was brought over as a friend of one of the bats, maybe rescued from a field trip/vacation gone wrong, maybe some other situation. But he is there in civilian form with civilian Waynes and Danny just takes a good long look around the inside of the mansion.

“So where’s the vampire aesthetic?

Everyone freezes.

Danny just starts looking around, checking behind paintings and feeling the walls for secret levers. Used to secret passages with Vlad and possibly Sam. The Fentons definitely had them when they were temporarily rich.

“Come on, I know you guys are hiding it.”

Cue the entire batfamily thinking that this is another Tim and that he is fully aware that these people are the batfamily. Danny hangs around the mansion more and the bats just start dropping their disguises and not even bothering to hide stuff around Danny because they assume he already knows. (Possibly even trying to recruit him to be a new bat) Meanwhile, Danny, who does not know these people are batman and his birds, just does not pick up on any of it.

He grew up in a health violation with a giant ballon observatory lab above his head and a portal to the afterlife in his basement. He is a half dead teenager who has tea with the god of time and his godfather is the other parent to his clone child. He’s used to death lazers being scattered across his home and mysterious stains on clothing.

People are weird! He doesn’t judge!

it’s been almost a year now… is the bg3 fandom finally ready to talk about how gale’s “hubris” is the sole product of actively feeding his insecurities further and straight up denying him help & guidance when he was at his lowest and needed it most. it’s not one of his core traits and never was. he isn’t some closeted power hungry monster that is just waiting to be enabled. what he wants is admiration, recognition and acceptance. which is also what he sought from mystra before the orb disaster happened. he had no desire whatsoever to become a god himself or challenge her rule, he simply wanted to be seen as sufficient in her eyes (“to serve her better”). to be as equal as he could possibly be in a relationship with a literal deity. he has a deep passion for magic and knowledge that affects almost all areas of his life and enjoys the display thereof. he wants to be the smartest person in the room and enjoys when his work is recognized. he may be perceived as arrogant when it comes to his skill, but he IS NOT hubristic. it truly takes so little for him to be wholly content.
