In Sickness & In Health
Pairing: Han Jisung x Reader
Word count: 2,180
Content warnings: Fluff
Summary: Han has always been your best friend ever since you were both little. But when you get sick and need his help getting your class notes and assignments your other friends clue Han into how attractive he is. But what happens when he asks you if you think he’s attractive?
A/N: Divider was created by @bernardsbendystraws, thank you for sharing your dividers with tumblr!
Hey Ji! I’ve got a cold and it’s really kicking my butt. I won’t be in class this week. Can you do me a favor and just let me copy your notes for the week? I’ll get with Iyo to get the notes for my other classes. Thanks Ji. I really appreciate it! That had been your text on Sunday, the two of you had been hanging out the day before and got caught in the rain on the way home. He had worriedly told you that you were probably going to get sick but you had reassured him that you would be okay. And lo and behold, he had been right. After getting your text he had quickly called you gently scolding you that he had been right and that you would get sick because of the rain, but when he heard how scratchy and hoarse your voice sounded he had felt bad about scolding you. So he had quickly told you to rest and try to get better, he’d take care of all of the notes for you and make sure you got all of your work and homework assignments as well.
You and Han had been best friends ever since you were kids, your parents had known each other way before either one of you had been born and had stayed close through the years. Even moving to the same town and same street to live, so your lives were intertwined completely and fully from a very early age. Han couldn’t imagine his life without you in it and he knew you felt the same way. The two of you were so close that the two of you move as if you’re one, you finish each other’s sentences, there’s almost an intuition when it comes to your relationship. Either one of you can tell when there’s something wrong or going on with the other one and already figuring it out or talking about it before the other realizes it.
And it was always so funny to Han that the two of you fit so well together because you were exact opposites of each other. He was anxious while you were unconcerned, you were outgoing while he took a while to warm up to people, he was a homebody while you were someone who enjoyed going out. He teased you that you were the peanut butter to his jelly and that was how your nicknames of PB and Ji-lly had formed.
The two of you were inseparable and Han preferred it that way, he was the more socially awkward one out of the two of you and relied heavily on you to help guide him through friendships. Han had always been into things that others found nerdy or geeky, anime, comic books, superheroes, and music. He had always been bullied for the things he liked and found pleasure in but you had never judged him, in fact you had tried to understand him and enjoy the same things he did. He loved that about you, you always had an open mind on everything you may not have understood it or enjoyed it as much as Han did but you always tried to. He was so grateful for your friendship that he would do anything for you.
Which is how he found himself taking meticulous notes for the two of you during your shared classes. The bell rings for the end of class and Han pushes up his round framed glasses as he finishes the last of the notes before stowing away his books in his backpack. Slipping his cell phone out of his pocket he sends a quick text to Iyo. Hey Iyo, can I swing by and grab the notes and assignments for PB? I’m going to stop by her place today and want to have everything ready for her. He waited until he got a response form her and then asked for her location so that he could swing by. With Iyo’s location Han quickly left the classroom preparing to get everything together for you before heading to your apartment.
The cafe is lively as Han enters it looking around for Iyo, she had mentioned that she’d be there with a few of your mutual friends on their break and that he could swing by and pick up the notes and work assignments she had for you. When he hears Iyo’s bright laughter he turns to find her sitting at a table in the middle of the cafe with your friends. Walking over they all slowly stop laughing and turn to face him with various greetings. Han shyly waves at them with a shaky smile slipping onto his face as he buries his hands in the front pocket of his hoodie.
”Hey Han!” Greets Iyo as she begins rummaging through her backpack to get all of the notes and assignments for him. “Have you talked to PB? Is she doing better?” Iyo asks curiously. “She hasn’t responded to me in a few hours.”
”Yeah I talked to her about an hour ago before my last class. She’s okay, still got a sore throat and feeling like crap but her fever broke this morning thankfully.” Han responded easily while smiling softly.
“Aww that’s really sweet of you to be keeping up with her while she’s sick.” One of your mutual friends mentions and Han nods his head at her as she smiles up at him.
”Yeah, you’re really a big sweetheart to her for helping her out like this.” Another chimes in and Han starts to feel a little self conscious of their praise of him. He shifts on his feet anxiously and Iyo looks up at him with a soft frown directed at her friends.
”Guys, enough.” Iyo scolded them and they all giggled as they leaned into each other.
”I mean if I had such a hot best friend like Han I wouldn’t let him go without trying to be with him.” Another friend spoke up and Han turned his head sharply to stare at them with wide eyes as the table dissolved into giggles again and Iyo rolled her eyes at them.
”Ignore them Han. They’re just jealous.” Iyo tried to explain their words and behavior away and Han just nodded his head quickly before taking the folder that she held out to him.
”Jealous of what?” Han asked curiosity getting the best of him and not being able to let it go until he knew what she meant.
”Of PB having a hot best friend who’s too sweet for her.” One of the friends said and the table erupted into giggles once again which made Han frown softly at their words. Iyo shook her head at him and then gestured for Han to leave which Han nodded and thanked her softly for the notes and assignments before he quickly left. The words of your mutual friends ringing in his ears and bouncing along the walls of his mind.
Han walks up to your apartment door and quickly opens the door with the spare key that you gave him years ago. He quickly slips out of his shoes and brings the bag of take out into the kitchen before moving around to heat it all up for the two of you. When he had the food ready and hot he put it on a tray before carrying it into your bedroom.
When he spotted you curled up in your bed buried underneath your blankets with just the top of your head peeking out he smiled softly. Placing the tray of food on your end table he sat on your bed before placing a gentle hand on your side.
”PB, wake up PB. I need you to eat something before taking more medicine.” He called out to you softly. You slowly stirred from sleep and Han watched fondly as you groggily sat up in bed letting the blankets fall from you. He chuckled softly as he gazed at you, your hair was a mess on the top of your head, your eyes are red rimmed and your face looks drowsy still even though he’s pretty sure that you’ve slept for the whole day.
”Hey Ji-lly.” You said in a raspy tone and Han smiled softly at you as he gently raised his hand to comb through your hair.
”You’re a mess PB.” He teased softly and you smiled crookedly at him as your eyes closed gently. “C’mon you need to eat something before you take your medicine.” He told you and he watched as you nodded your head obediently. He gently handed you the bowl of soup and waited until you began eating before he took his own bowl and began to eat.
As the two of you ate Han’s mind kept replaying the encounter at the cafe and without him knowing it you began to pick up that something was bothering him. After taking a couple spoonfuls of your soup you lower your bowl to your lap and turn to look at Han.
”Alright Ji-lly, spill it. What’s bothering you?” You ask him and he looks over at you in surprise.
“I-“ he begins before sighing softly as a knowing smile graces his lips. “When I met up with Iyo there were some of your other friends there and they said some stuff that made me curious and a little uncomfortable.” He admitted and you tilted your head to the side as you continued eating your soup.
”What was it?” You asked as your eyes kept darting back to him from your soup bowl.
”They said that I was super sweet for getting your notes and assignments for you. But then they also said that I was hot and that they were jealous of you having a sweet hot best friend.” Han told you and you looked at him surprised before he opened his mouth and spoke up again. “Do you think I’m attractive?” He asked suddenly and you jolted in your spot on the bed in surprise at his question before you shyly darted your eyes away from him for a moment.
”Ji-lly you’re very attractive.” You tell him honestly and Han stares at you with wide eyes at your confession. “But it’s not just looks that’s attractive about you.” You say and Han tilts his head at you curiously. “It’s everything. Your sweetness, your excitable passions that you get so worked up over that you rant for hours on end about them, your patience to always make sure that I understand things that you’re sharing with me, your inclusion of me in everything in your life.” You admit softly and Han smiles fondly at you before he chuckles softly.
”That just sounds like you’re in love with me or something.” He jokes teasingly as he looks down at his soup bowl and finishes the last of his soup. When he realizes that haven’t responded to his joke he whips his head up to stare at you surprised. He scoots closer to you and raises his hand to press his glasses further up his nose nervously as you look down at your bowl with a soft pretty blush dusting your cheeks. “Are you in love with me?” He asks softly with baited breath.
You shrug your shoulders at him and your eyes are avoiding any connection with his own as your blush intensifies on your cheeks. Han moves even closer to you and reaches out to cup your face with both of his hands tilting it up to look at him.
”Are you in love with me like I’m in love with you?” He asks softly and smiles as he watches your eyes widen at his admission before you’re melting in his hold with a soft look overcoming your face.
”Yes, Ji-lly. I’m in love with you just like you’re in love with me.” You admit to him softly and he smiles at you sweetly. He then leans forward puckering his lips to kiss you but just as his lips are about to make contact your hand comes up in between both of your mouths to block him. When Han’s lips press against your palm he jolts back and looks at you slightly wounded and you huff at him. “Ji-lly I’m still sick. Don’t you remember?” You tease him gently and Han blushes brightly at your reminder as you grin at him softly.
”When you’re feeling better can I kiss you then?” He asks softly and your grin widens on your face.
”Well duh, we’re dating now so I would assume you would kiss me when I’m better.” You tell him and he balks at your words before he melts into your bed and cuddles into your side as you finish your soup.
”Dating huh?” He asks smugly and you grin at him before pressing a kiss to his forehead.
”Don’t get cocky yet Ji-lly. It’s gonna be our first kiss.” You tell him teasingly and suddenly Han buries his face into your shoulder as a blush consumes him as embarrassment grips him.

Woods Household: Chapter 2, Part 4
Four werewolves and a human sit down to dinner...
CW: Low level sim spice. Content Warning Guide
Wolfgang and Kristopher have not come alone. Natalia, Kristopher’s wife has come to. She and Kristopher have three kids together. Samir is relieved they didn’t bring them to dinner. He and Reece greet her and the meal properly begins.

Samir is nervous at first, then the other werewolves begin eating. They’re every bit as messy as him! He tucks into his food happily, glad he doesn’t have to repress his gluttonous nature and Reece prepares himself for people talking with their mouths full.
Wolfgang: This is delicious
Natalia: Much better than what we have on set
Kristopher: Natalia is an actress in her spare time
Reece: Oh my sister’s friend does that. What do you do Kristopher?
Kristopher: Look after any wolves that come through these parts

Samir: How long have you been doing that
Natalia: A while… he’s immortal see
Reece: Immortal?
Kristopher: Love you forget, they don’t know much about our lore
Wolfgang: They should if they’ve been reading my books, I see a few of them on the shelf
Samir: You write
Wolfgang: Under a pen name of course of but you can also find me at the main mill most days, I’m the librarian
Reece: You work for the library? Say hi to Flynn and Eve for me
*crickets as no one else gets the geeky joke*

Reece: Uh, did you write that bit in The Werewolf who came in from the cold?
Samir: About the collective
Wolfgang: You could read that? Oh wonderful
Kristopher: It means your eyes are adjusting properly. You’ll be able to see extra text in many of the books in the library
Wolfgang: And my books of course. Read up on what you can and we’ll fill in the blanks for you
Reece offers to sort the dishes while Samir grabs some of the meat in the fridge for seconds. Reece goes to the lounge to do more of his homework while Samir asks more questions.
Samir: Will I always be hungry
Kristopher: It takes a lot of calories to shift, and we have a faster metabolism than humans. I’d suggest planting a fruit tree of some kind so you can always have a snack on hand
Samir: I’m more a meat kind of guy

Kristopher: *whispers* how is your hearing
Samir: *whispers* pretty good
The conversation continues with the group talking so quietly that Reece who is close by cannot hear a word they say.
Natalia: It’s an adjustment being able to hear so much. I am not looking forward to what I might hear when the kids become teens
Samir: Wolfgang… what did you mean when you said Reece and I were lucky to have found each other? It seemed weighted
Kristopher: Tell me you didn’t-
Wolfgang: That was all I said Kristopher, those words
Samir: Why? What could he have said

Kristopher: Nothing that’s backed up by precedent
Wolfgang: Just because you’ve never encountered it before-
Kristopher: *snaps* For the last time, fated mates have only ever been documented in relationships between werewolves
Samir: Fated what
An awkward silence descends as Kristopher and Wolfgang exchange looks and Natalia clearly searches for something to say.
Kristopher: So you want to take on who killed your parents do you
Samir: What? *growls* Do you know who it was
Wolfgang: We have an idea
Kristopher: But no, we’re not telling you until we’re sure you won’t go getting yourself killed. Come outside with me, show me what you can do

Samir follows Kristopher outside, nearly slipping on the icy ground.
Kristopher: You need to work on your reflexes
Samir: I know…
Kristopher: I trust you’ve figured out how to shift at will?
Samir: Sort of…
Kristopher: Come on, show me
The older wolf effortlessly ripples into his wolf form while Samir enters his wolf form more awkwardly.
Samir: Why don’t our clothes tear
Kristopher: We may change our physical appearance but you’ll find we stay a similar size. Now, attack me

The pair disappear into a cloud of dust and fur! Samir isn’t used to tangling with someone as fast as him so he has a job staying ahead of Kristopher’s swings. He sadly discovers a bop to his wolf nose is extremely painful, and that it’s harder to slice through fur with his claws than he thought.

When the dust settles Kristopher is the clear victor but Samir isn’t hurt.
Kristopher: You have an amount of raw talent. That may have been fine on the football field but it’s different as a wolf. You need to work on refining your talents
Samir: I know. Thanks
Kristopher: Anytime. If you want to join the collective-
Samir: No. I have Reece
Kristopher: Up to you of course. I’ll grab the others and take our leave. Howl if you ever need anything

Samir goes inside and Reece looks up from his homework.
Reece: You do make a good looking werewolf… but I still think we should keep woohoo to human form only
Samir: No problem, I can shift
Samir goes into the kitchen to get some space and tries to shift. Nothing changes.
Samir: Damn it!
Reece: It’s okay boss, you’ve done it before. You’ll do it again
Samir: Right blondie, I’ll try. I am in control *deep breath* I am in control….
Reece does his best to think calming thoughts as Samir awkwardly shifts back to human form. It’s still a rusty process but at least he can do it.

Reece: There… my handsome lover is back. Did the others have any good tips
Samir: Just to keep reading and working on skills. Now I have a pretty good tip for you… if you can take it
Reece: *chuckles* I do my best
Samir: Come on, let’s put you to bed
Reece: *sighing* I love you
Samir: *smirks* I love you to, now come on or you’ll miss all the fun

LGBTQ Book Recommendations
In the year that has seen the heartwarming second season of Heartstopper comes the news two school districts in the US states of Florida and Oregon have banned the graphic novels and a public library in Mississippi removed the works from the shelves claiming they were somehow “pornographic.” It never seems to fail; every time there is societal progress, you have a wave of those throwing up restrictions trying desperately to pull everything and everyone back.
This heinous attack on LGBTQ literature, works on the African American experience, and tragic historical events are why we fight back everyday to keep these works available for all who seek their content especially during Banned Books Week. It’s not about corrupting or grooming the youth; it’s about truth, love, life, compassion, and understanding one another. What follows are seven LGBTQ books by seven different authors you may want to consider reading beyond Heartstopper, Fence, and Love, Simon. Remember, just because your favorite book isn’t here doesn’t mean I didn’t like it or you shouldn’t give try. Always enrich your perspective by trying a variety of works in the plethora now available. Happy Banned Books Week!

1. Boy Like Me by Simon James Green – I first ran across this author when I read his book Alex in Wonderland a few years ago being greatly amused by the antics of boy working a summer job. It is very fitting to begin with this recent release set in a UK High School back in 1994 during Section 28 banning books on gay relationships. The main character, Jamie, is lead to such a disguised novel where he finds a connection to his own personal truths and to a mysterious other person who feels the same way. Will Jamie ever find this other person or will they be forever shunned by their small community? It’s always a important to remember where we’ve been so that we can better guide ourselves to where we need to be.

2. The Music of What Happens by Bill Konigsberg – Two boys operate a food truck Coq Au Vinny for the summer out in the heat of Mesa, Arizona. Max, a baseball jock, is trying hard to forget a rough experience with a college boy while hanging out with his friends and working. Geeky Jordan, is trying to raise the money with his late father’s old food truck and keep his mother from spiraling while hanging out with his gal pals. Along the way they find friendship and love while working through their past traumas and current struggles. Easily one of my favorites.

3. Check, Please! Book 1: #Hockey by Ngozi Ukazu – Join baking vlogger Erik “Bitty” Bittle from Georgia as he makes his way through the first two years playing hockey at Samwell University in New England. Originally an online comic, this first volume in a two part set explores Bitty’s time interacting with the team and getting closer with their Captain, Zimmerman. This was a charming story with entertaining characters, and, of course, the love of hockey. Be sure to also read Check, Please! Book 2: Sticks & Scones.

4. Lions Legacy by L.C. Rosen – Tennessee “Tenny” Russo had tried to leave his adventuring days with his father’s reality show behind and have a normal life with his mom in Greenwich Village. Two years later, his boyfriend is cheating on him, his Good Upstanding Queer” friends don’t care, and his dad comes back into his life with a potential lead on the Rings of the Sacred Band of Thebes. Tenny could stay miserable in New York or join his father in Greece to recover a lost piece of queer history to share with the world. A wonderful, thrilling story heavily influenced by Indiana Jones exploring struggle of keeping LGBT history from being swept under the rug or modified to fit a heteronormative viewpoint.

5. Thunder by Dylan James – Teenage Grant Peters and Logan Summers have been long neighbors and rivals on the rodeo circuit in the upper plains of the United State or Canada. With his parents thinking of selling the ranch due to a drop in profits, Grant is desperate to find a way to keep competing with his beloved horse Thunder. He stumbles across evidence of a cougar attack and is drawn into an investigation along the property line with his nemesis, Logan. Along the way, the boys develop a connection and uncover a secret hidden from both families. Will they make it out alive?

6. Howl by Shaun David Hutchinson – When Virgil Knox stumbled into the town center of Merritt, Florida battered, bloody, and raving about the monster that attacked him, nobody would believe him, not even his own grandparents. Already struggling to make friends in his dad’s hometown after his parents’ divorce, Virgil knows what he saw and finds himself reliving that night. Can Virgil find a way to move on with his life? Will the monster find him again? Is he on his way to becoming one himself?

7. In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens – Prince Tal has a secret. Fire mages are not to be trusted ever since his ancestor used the ability to fight wars against the other kingdoms and practitioners of other magic, the ability has been shunned. The mysterious castaway Athlen also has a secret that enables him to somehow survive the deep oceans. Together the boys will survive pirates, kidnapping plots, shapeshifters, and a grand political plot threatening the kingdom and Tal’s sister, the queen. Can they stop a war before it’s too late?

Medium, Sweet, Extra Shot of Geek by R. Cooper

Read time: 1 Day Rating: 3/5 Stars
The Quote: Tommy was using his intense voice, the one he used on the phone and when he felt the need to stress how frightening Daleks and weeping angels were. — Tavio
Warnings: From Cooper herself "Mention of DADT, Adjustment to life outside the military"
This is a bad review written a year after I read it initially with notes and highlights as a guide. It was used as a quick story to serve my commute at a time when I was reading a lot and not having time to review. Medium, Sweet, Extra Shot of Geek is a well-executed, simple getting-together plot.
I adore these two protagonists. Tommy and Tavio are a smart seemingly opposite atttracts pairing. I like former soldier Tavio as a representation of the stoic. He is highly intelligent but just not quite ready for our world yet. Tommy is all kinds of surgery madness. He feels like a child perpetually hyped up on sugar. Tommy has a daughter, 9-year-old Kaylee, her mother is Savannah. There is no cheating, Kaylee was an alcohol-driven high school accident between best friends who remain best friends as well as co-parents. Kaylee and Savannah are fantastic. Kaylee in particular is cute as hell. There is a soft queer storyline beyond the obvious sexualities if you want to see it. I was surprised and pleased to see DADT running through both Tommy and Tavio's lives.
Some quotes and a comment.
Looking at the years in play for Kaylee. Kaylee is 9, Medium, Sweet, Extra Shot of Geek was published in 2013, Firefly was released in 2002-3, 10 years earlier. It is almost a given that the super, super geeky Tommy named his beloved daughter after Kaylee, a character who represents so much of what you would want your daughter to be. Seemingly most of her nicknames are equally geeky and several of them are equally strong characters.
“Of course, I’m still going to see it. That’s what real fans do. Watch it and love it and tear it to pieces online—with lots of crying and mutual masturbation. First, you have to talk about the old versions to show how cool you are and how long you’ve been a fan. Then someone else gets to do it, so you can see whose nerd hard-on is bigger. Then, with the pleasantries out of the way, you can admit that you liked the new version even if it sucks. Geeks have rules about this sort of thing. Though some jerks never get to the fun part and just keep complaining and causing trouble. A lot of people are like that. I don’t get it. It’s more fun to enjoy things together than to jack off alone—metaphorically.” — This is so early in the novella but it made me laugh. It is a brilliant introduction to Tommy's geekiness and personality. At best guess given publishing dates, he's referring to Star Trek Into Darkness. As far as I can tell the novella isn't set in a previous time frame. (Tommy)
He never shut up and got excited about ordinary things like kids got excited for Christmas. Which was how he acted—like every day was Christmas—and how he looked at Tavio—like Tavio was something he wanted waiting for him under a tree. — I appreciate good descriptive passages. If you have met someone like this you know it. (Tavio)
“Thank you, Tavio. You are the best. The dark and broody highlight of my mornings. The bringer of caffeine and life-giving sugar.” — Am I the only one who has felt like actually saying this to the person you buy coffee from? This or something very similar. (Tommy)
“Kaylee Sugar Pop Pumpkin Pie River Song O’Shaughnessy Harper, do not talk like that—around your grandma, at least. She always blames me. Like when you wanted to be Jayne from Firefly for Halloween. Somehow that was my fault. It was a plastic knife.” — What Kaylee says is "They don't completely suck.". But I can only imagine a little girl like her dressed as Jayne. Oh and a horrified grandparent when they see what their beloved granddaughter is dressed as. (Tommy)
Okay, so I want to share a passage that I found really interesting. I'm not actually sure what R. Cooper meant by this, it isn't really explored. "“No.” It had been all Tavio had been able to say. If people had known about him—and he assumed they had, because no one could remember to switch pronouns all the time, even someone who barely spoke—they had never reported him. But they could have, anyone could have, true or not, and he would have been out. Disgraced and dishonored, without anything to show for his service except the knowledge that his family—his mother—would find out in the worst way possible the thing he had never intended for them to know." (Tavio). This is Tavio's response to “Like getting booted for having the wrong lifestyle for the Army. That’s no fun.”. Does this read as Tavio being trans to anyone else? It's never mentioned. It just feels like an odd thing to include and not do anything with. I don't know it just feels off to me.
3⭐ only because while I appreciate how the ending fits the tone of the book and the story they tell... I wish it was just a little longer. I wish we got to see them on a proper date. I wish we got to see more of Kaylee and Tavio. I wish we got more of Suzannah and Tavio (or Tommy and Suzannah) because they are great together.

My random chaotic thoughts while watching Boruto
I haven’t bothered to follow Boruto, only when there were Uchiha Family moments. But I’ve found Boruto on Netflix and it isn’t that bad. I find the interactions between the Genins cute :)
I love Sarada so much 🥺 she really comes after both of her parents (I feel like mostly the positive traits of them). I love her friendship with Chocho. Their friendship is so supportive and understanding. I really love Chocho, too! (Chouji and Karui are a random couple but that’s so Kishimoto-esque. The gentle Chouji and the though Karui… 😌)
On the first look the new Gen seemed like Konoha 9 rebooted but new InoShikaCho have a different dynamic than their parents had. Boruto is different to naruto but doesn’t resemble Sasuke either :)
I also like the relationship of Sarada an Boruto. Childhood friends, rivals and understanding each other’s daddy issues. Admiring the other ones father while trying to understand their own.
Mitsuki is Mitsuki. Precious little Mitsuki 🥺 Inojin is hilarious af and obviously the child of his parents but still a character of his own 😂😂😂 did I mention that I love supportive husband Sai Yamanaka?!
I am mostly not ready to ship these Babies but I’d love if Mitsuki really ended up with Chocho xD
I also like shikadai and Boruto‘s friendship :) (especially when the underlying competition between them came through during chunin exams which is pretty normal I guess)
Another precious person: Himawari🥺 she appears to have naruto‘s charm and we know how charming the MC of a 15years running manga is ;) I think it’s cute that Naruto is protective of her and she seems to be his little girl but I totally see her kicking some a**es when she’s older with Hyuga Clan special Jutsus with a chaotic take on that xD
I love how Sasuke advises and guides Boruto. He gets him because he grew up with parents and felt neglected by his father too. I think Sasuke is a wise sensei :o he does meaningful things and guides Sara und Boru well. (Maybe besides the fact that he took Boruto with the Kages to rescue Naruto and Boruto got the Karma because he let him attack Momoshinki but otherwise Boruto wouldn’t have an interesting plot would it?) I also like the way he has trust in Boru and Sara and doesn’t patronize them. He trains them, is strict and honest. I’m dangerous situations he takes over when they are overpowered but doesn’t withhold them from these situations. In this way they can learn a lot more with him spring to step in.
I am such a Sarada fan! Hope she will appear in more episodes/ chapters and take on an important role. I’d love to see her become hokage but it has to feel earned. Sarada turned out so perfekt.. I’d try for another xD no sorry jokes aside. I also love her design and her attitude/ body language. She is not just a Sakura with dark hair or a Sasuke as a girl. Really a blend of her parents :O I see both of them in her. She’s so strong willed and determined but also so sweet and warm with her friends. And I love her geekiness. She seems to read and research a lot 🥺
It’s always a feast to see the old Senseis. Sensei Huy especially 🥺 so I am glad for these Episodes of Boruto.
I guess the pacing is annoying even when you stream. Can’t imagine watching week to week 😬

I think Cass would come off as completely normal to allistics, but autism beam anyone who's looking for it, because she can read and remember "normal" body language, and perfectly mimic it - but people who also do that would notice it. So she'd have a fun thing where everyone thinks she's the exact same as them. (I bet she just mirrors a lot anyway.)
Steph's definitely had to do the "regular person nothing to see here" well before she became a vigilante, so I think she'd continue doing that, except maybe lean into being "silly" or "weird" because she doesn't have that much to prove. Dick, being a performer and knowing he'd be scrutinized at all times since he was little, is always going to be performing, so he's convincing if a little charismatic. I disagree on Jason, though - I think he's in a similar boat to both of them, having to be really careful in childhood how he portrayed himself. The difference is, I think the image he's trying to maintain didn't age with him when he went on his world tour, so he seems quite a bit younger to the average person, maybe to the point where they worry about him.
Babs leans into the geeky thing and does okay, Bruce leans into the slutty thing and does okay, Duke leans into the music snob thing and does okay. Damian thinks he's got one of these - he thinks he comes off like an eccentric painter - but he very much doesn't have a standard of what that looks like, since all of his touchpoints are his family (unhinged on both sides), TV and movies (inaccurate), and what Alfred tells him average people act like (outdated, and also from parenting guides). Tim thinks that since everyone is weird he won't come off more weird (wrong).
Luke is the one I think would just be himself without the vigilante parts and come off like how people expect a pro athlete slash tech nerd genius inventor to be, given that that's. Not a real thing.
Kate I think gives up on it and just goes straight to 'yes, I'm Batwoman' and throws people off by being too much like how they think a Bat would act.
i actually think that after she's had time to catch up on some social development Cass is probably one of the better bats at passing for normal. she and Dick and maybe Steph have the best sense of performing "just some guy". Bruce, Babs, and Duke all overstep the mark and successfully pass as "not normal but not in a batman way more a this dude weird as fuck way" whereas Tim, Damian, and Jason are all under the mistaken impression that they can just be a version of themselves that is not a vigilante and come off as genuinely unhinged

It's hard to believe summer is almost over as the kids go back to school on Monday. Our trip to Lisbon brought us some long walks, narrow sidewalks, and an abundance of beautiful sights. I shared our experiences over on @fanbasepress. Okay, so my plans for this one is to publish it by itself on AO3 once it’s done, which, I hope (strangled laughter) shouldn’t be in a year, so do what you want with that info. In the meantime, have the first part of a silly modern AU.
For fuck’s sake, there is no way that’s Luo Binghe.
Shen Yuan had a very clear idea of what Luo Binghe would look like. A white lotus like him had to be a small, shy, bespectacled young man. He’d probably sit by the wall, only daring to glance up occasionally to look for Shen Yuan anxiously.
The man who is refusing a woman’s overture for the third time cannot be him. It must be a coincidence that he’s wearing something that looks like what Luo Binghe said he would have on.
That must be it. Reassured, Shen Yuan starts looking for the little sheep he’d taken under his wing. Could he be the guy engrossed by his phone sitting at his right? Meh, maybe, but-
“Shizun!”
Shen Yuan is instantly mortified. The nickname was cute when they were talking cultivation novels online, but here, in real life? That’s why Shen Yuan insisted on them sharing their real names: to save himself the embarrassment of being the kind of nerd who calls themselves by a fake, geeky name in public!
Then again, since he looks like that, Luo Binghe could be larping surrounded by a crowd while wearing a shirt with a naked waifu on it and still he’d get hit on, Shen Yuan bets. A face this stunning must act as a shield, making him impervious to embarrassment.
Shen Yuan is not impervious to embarrassment. He dashes to the table where, apparently, his disciple is waiting for him. “Luo Binghe.”
He almost flinches under the strength of the beaming smile he’s faced with. “Yes! Shizun! It’s good to finally meet you in person!”
It would be better if you were not calling me Shizun. “The feeling is mutual.” Kind of.
Luo Binghe pushes a paper bag in his direction. “Please accept these as a token of gratitude for your guidance. I know it’s not much, but I hope you can enjoy it anyway.”
Shen Yuan opens the bag with no small amount of trepidation, to discover half a bakery’s stock of desserts, sweets, cakes and other patisseries.
How did he know of Shen Yuan’s weaknesses?
Shen Yuan quickly closes the bag. It would be gauche to eat outside food in a café. “This really wasn’t necessary, though it all looks delicious. Where did you buy them? Did you find a good shop already?”
Luo Binghe shakes his head. “No. I made them, so if they’re subpart, I’m the only one to blame.”
Come on! This guy cooks? At this level? Shen Yuan can feed himself, but a glance was all it took to know how outclassed he was. How is he the shizun here? “I’m sure they’re delicious.” They smell like it, anyway. “So you’re already settled down enough to bake? Moving wasn’t too much of a hardship then?”
“No, everything went well. I’m ready for the term to start.”
He’d better be, since he was accepted at Tsinghua University. How did poor Luo Binghe, who grew up in a small village in the middle of nowhere, swing that, Shen Yuan doesn’t know, but he must be smart as hell. Shen Yuan himself is no slouch, having graduated from Peking University, but it took the “help and encouragement” of his parents and his parents’ many contacts.
Not that they’re here to talk college education, unless Luo Binghe is planning to have much more fun than Shen Yuan did during his own college years. “Still, I suppose that didn’t give you much time for reading.”
“I did read! I had nothing but time on the train, so I finished Shizun’s latest recommendation. As he said, the heroine was the best part. I really liked when…”
This. This is why they’re here: for Shen Yuan to coach Luo Binghe in the ways of decent online literature, stirring him away from complete trash and protecting his innocence from the worst of the worst. He’d known from the first comment Luo Binghe had posted that he was too pure for this world, and that it was his duty as the last bastion of criticism to keep him that way.
He likes to think he did pretty well. Luo Binghe took to his teachings easily. Before he knew it, Shen Yuan had an online friend always eager to get his recommendations and to discuss them with him.
Shen Yuan had thought that maybe Luo Binghe didn’t have that many friends, or that he was socially awkward, but that is very obviously not the case. He can hear the girls oh so coincidentally sitting nearby giggling and congratulating themselves that Luo Binghe hadn’t been waiting for his girlfriend, but only a friend, which meant they still had a chance!
Ha! As if! The only way Luo Binghe didn’t have a girlfriend was if he left her behind to come study here in Beijing. Shen Yuan is sure that won’t last. He’ll probably find someone as soon as school begins.
In the meantime, he might as well take it easy. Reading more books, discovering the cities, getting to know his neighbours; he should take some time to do all this before he is swarmed by his studies.
Still, this is nice. Shen Yuan isn’t the most sociable person ever, vastly preferring to remain indoor by himself to making small talk, but this is a good combination of both! He can talk books with someone who listens to him while drinking his bubble tea and nibbling on snacks. He could get used to this.
“Could I have your phone number?”
Shen Yuan shakes himself back to the conversation. “Sure, but why?” They’ve always written one another before.
“Now that I live nearby, wouldn’t this be easier?”
Shen Yuan swears by the written word, but if Luo Binghe wants to call him from time to time, he can probably deal. “Fine.”
His pupil looks too happy to have gotten a simple phone number. Maybe he really doesn’t have many friends? Aww, don’t worry, you’ll do great here, away from the hicks that couldn’t appreciate you.
“Now that I’m here, there are a few places I’d like to visit. The city had museums, theatres, libraries, everything! Would Shizun mind being my guide?”
Luo Binghe did not need to punctuate that request with puppy eyes. It was overkill. “Are you sure you want to go with me? Shouldn’t you go with friends your age, or your girlfriend?”
“Shizun isn’t old! He’s only eight years older than me! It’s perfectly acceptable!”
Now Shen Yuan feels bad. Luo Binghe might look like… what he looks like, but at eighteen, he’s barely an adult! He should be enjoying his youth instead of wasting his time with a jaded old man like Shen Yuan.
Anyway, he probably just doesn’t know enough people yet. “If you’re fine with me, then I’ll tag along.”
Shen Yuan is once again nearly blinded by the brightness of Luo Binghe’s smile. “I’ll prepare lunch! Does Shizun have favorites?”
“I’m sure anything Luo Binghe prepares will be delicious.” He has no idea, but the stuff he gave him looks like it, at least. At worst, Shen Yuan can definitely afford to pay for a nice restaurant for them both, just like he’ll be paying here.
“Shizun shouldn’t bother. I’m the one who invited him, I should be taking the check.”
There is no way rich, adult Shen Yuan is letting Luo Binghe, a college student on scholarship who just moved to one of the most expensive cities of China, pay for him. Ever. That’s not happening. “First, you did not invite me, I volunteered myself. Second, I’m older. Third, I have a job (kinda, but Luo Binghe doesn’t have to know that) and you don’t. I will be paying for all our expanses, and that’s not negotiable. It’s that or I’m leaving.” He could never live with himself if Luo Binghe had to skip a meal to afford going out with him. The mere idea leaves him queasy.
Luo Binghe frowns, displeased.
A chorus of sighs can be heard from the tables surrounding them.
Shen Yuan estimates there are at least fifteen women of all ages staring at Luo Binghe like he’s a choice morsel now.
They should leave before this degenerates.
Shen Yuan pulls at Luo Binghe. “Let’s go.”
(He valiantly ignores the hissed “Don’t touch him!” coming from a genuinely terrifying fifteen-year-old.)
Luo Binghe seems reluctant to part once they’re out. “We’re meeting Sunday at ten. Shizun can’t forget! I’ll be waiting for him!”
“Don’t worry, I won’t.” His social calendar isn’t busy enough to forget his one deliberate engagement.
_________________
Sadly, his social calendar isn’t empty. His dear parents made sure of it. Shen Yuan doesn’t quite rue the day he agreed to their conditions for funding his lifestyle, but sometimes he really wonders if the sinecure he calls his job, providing him blessed solitude and copious amount of free time, is worth suffering through the parties.
Lucky for him that the feeling is shared between all participants now.
Shen Yuan keeps his face perfectly placid as he reads a passable novel on his phone. The hero is trash, and the heroine, just as bad, but there’s a decent world being built, and he’s honestly interested in the fauna the writer created. It’s not good enough to be recommended to Luo Binghe, but few things are. Only the best for his little sheep.
No one interrupts him. They don’t dare anymore. Long gone are the times where Shen Yuan let himself be bullied. Now, he has focused his hatred of a certain character into an imitation so lifelike he’s now famous for his emotionless expression and his ability to lash out with enough venom that the wounds he leaves behind aren’t healed by their next meeting.
One does what one needs to do to survive the jungle that is the circles of Beijing high society.
His parents would weep if they could see him. “You’ll never find a wife like that,” they’d lament.
Shen Yuan doesn’t care. His two brothers are already married. He’s an uncle. His little sister is more popular than any of her siblings ever were. His parents will have all the heirs they could ever want. They don’t need him to reproduce.
There’s a commotion somewhere at his right.
Shen Yuan doesn’t bother lifting his eyes from his phone until the noise is close enough to be a nuisance. Letting none of his irritation show on his face, he looks for the cause of the disturbance in a nonchalant way that would fool no one.
His heart almost stops when he finds Luo Binghe, Sha Hualing and Xiao Gongzhu hanging off his arms like they belonged there.
What is he doing here!? This isn’t a place where his white lotus should be standing! He should still be unboxing in his apartment, not wearing this frankly obscene suit and flirting with heiresses as wealthy as they were mean!
Oh. This must be it. Shen Yuan did think Luo Binghe would get a girlfriend in no time after all. He must be here as someone’s date, and Luo Binghe being Luo Binghe, he has stolen everyone’s attention from the moment he set foot in the room.
Okay. He has terrible tastes, but whatever. No one is perfect.
Fuck, if he sees Shen Yuan and dashes over while screaming “Shizun”, he’ll ruin his new relationship! Not only will he be revealed as nowhere near as cool as he appears, but being associated with Shen Yuan isn’t a good thing. He’s made sure his disdain for this crew was well-known.
Shen Yuan tries to message Luo Binghe to warn him to stay clear, but, as expected, he doesn’t check his phone.
Fuck his parents. Shen Yuan, very ostentatiously, pretends to get an important but unpleasant message, and starts walking with a speed and certainty that cannot be interrupted.
“-Shen Yuan. Don’t bother. He’s an asshole.”
Shen Yuan doesn’t falter, but only because he’s a pro at this. So what if they’re trash-talking him to Luo Binghe? He knows better.
“I’ll have to make my own mind. Wait here?”
Luo Binghe, what the fuck? Can’t you see how obviously I’m leaving? Don’t come over!
“Hello. My name is Luo Binghe. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Shen Yuan has to answer him now. He can’t just ignore him. That would be unforgivably rude. His mother would find out, and she would never let him live it down. “Shen Yuan. I’m in a hurry, so if you would…” He’s not sure why Luo Binghe is playing along, but if he’s game to pretend they don’t know each other, that’s perfect. Shen Yuan will do the same.
The smile Luo Binghe favors him with is nothing like the one he first shown Shen Yuan, all brightness and childlike joy. This smile is, dare he say it, seductive. He smiles like he’s certain the person he’s gracing with this smile is appreciating every moment of it, as they should. “Please spare me just a moment of your time. I promise I’ll make it quick.”
It turns out Shen Yuan doesn’t know Luo Binghe at all, if he can smile like that and make it look as easy as breathing.
Shen Yuan is not enjoying this. If he had known Luo Binghe would be there tonight, they could have planned something instead of, of whatever this is. His best option right now is to leave, meet up with Luo Binghe later, explain to him his current situation, and arrange things in such a way that his disciple’s rise into power won’t be hindered by his acquaintance to Shen Yuan.
For now, that means being the jerk he pretends to be, so that Luo Binghe can be comforted instead of confronted by those women flocking to him. Shen Yuan will apologise later. “Go run back to whichever of these,” he gestures to the women, “is keeping you fed and well dressed enough to pretend to fit here. I don’t have time to waste on boy toys.” Without giving him a second look, he exits the room as fast as he can without running, inwardly mortified at what he just said.
But not fast enough to miss the mocking laughter and the elated exchanges. “He thinks Tianlang-Jun’s son is a sugar baby!”
What the fuck.

Oh it's releaving to know i am not the only one who feels that way
(Just in case you don't read my whole ramble as it's not the most grammatically correct because I am not an English speaker i want to say thank you for saying this as it means a lot to me ♥️)
Cause on one hand I get it's supposed to be a joke but like it's not really that funny Anaxagoras is like just a name of real life scholar if they wanted to go with the whole this character has such a long name i ain't pronouncing that then just make it unreasonably long because like brother it's just one word what are you talking about
Like is it really that weird in universe i mean?
The problem with this concept is that we have characters like March 7th and Sunday am i really supposed to believe that Anaxagoras is weirder than March 7th and Sunday
If we are going with the whole hard pronunciation Nikador is also hard to prounce Oswaldo Schinder exist
You see how weird this joke gets when you start thinking about how weird hsr naming schemes are
What's worse i actually completely relate to Anaxagoras in this regard
I was a kid who was born with a pretty geeky and almost embarassing name and was bullied very harshly my parents releasing just how much this was affecting me decided to sit down with me and help me pick up a new name they were very nice and guided me and i couldn't be happier and because it happened when I was so young like six or seven i don't even have to bring up this situation because my new name it's just my name now
But when I first started out going by new name all of the kids and even some of the teachers were a little confused on why I changed my name apparently the reason for changing my name because apparently i didn't have good enough reason to change my name yeah being bullied is apparantly not a good enough reason
I know what's like to be stubborn about my name especially since it's not really a common name from what I heard from other people like it's not even just children or my peers it's also my teachers and just about anyone i have talked with
And you know what I don't care it's my name if you respect me in anyway then please use my name as it's really really important to me now my name was something I chose i am sticking with it because how much it means to me it's a reminder of how much my parents loved me how much they cared about me
Did they mess up when they name me the first time?
Of course they did but at the same time I mess up too we are girlfailure status family and you know what we are trying to survive while having a good laugh ok
Point being i get how Anaxagoras feels
I know people joke about how Anaxagoras emphasis his pronunciation but for me i completely get it
The way my native language Hindi work is that you have these mantras that help you with pronunciation for eg small ei matara usually means the pronunciation is short and simple while long ei matara means the pronunciation is long and prounce
My name has two long ei mataras and one aa matar which for context also means that it needs to be pronounced long and emphasized which can be a little difficult to prounce sure it's not the most difficult combination but it is a bit unusual and i do have to prounce my name very slowly for other people sometimes fully grown adults to understand it
So I am sorry but I don't really find Anaxagoras slowly emphasizing his name to insure that they prounce it correctly really that funny because whenever he is emphasizing his name to other people i just go mood because I have to do the same all the time especially when meeting new people
So yeah I don't really talk about this because I know i am just taking this too seriously
But hey thanking you for saying it
It made my day :D
It agrivates me to no end that Anaxagoras is never reffered to by anyone other than himself as the name he prefers to go by. Idk, it feels just so disrespectful and boundary-pushing. He’s introduced himself as Anaxagoras and calls himself Anaxagoras, but everyone is just like “haha, name too long. Well just call you Anaxa.” this is very much in the vain of why I hate it when Screwlum calls Dr. Ratio “Mr. Ratio” that man has 9 PhDs put some respect on his name.

OC-Tober 2021, Day 5: "Throne"
OC/WIP: Tristan and friends from "Old Fantasy Novel Series That I Haven't Gotten Around to Renaming Yet"
Strap in, because I'm about to bare the stupidity of my teenage years.
So, around age fourteen, I started working on a series of fantasy novels. (Heck, I even wrote them out! Then tried to rewrite them, rework them, etc.) It was about a kid named Tristan, who lives with an abusive foster family and knows nothing of his birth parents. He's sucked into a magical world that's currently in a state of civil war, ever since the king's evil brother killed him, his wife and infant son. The weird magical medallion that Tristan has always had turns out to be a magical relic of this royal family, and will occasionally do Deus Ex Machina things, even though nobody except the true King of Fantasy Land should be able to use it. He also discovers and is able to use the royal family's magical sword, which is also supposed to be unusable to anyone but the true king.
Now...hold on, you're not gonna believe it...it turns out that Tristan is actually that infant prince who everyone thought was dead! Yeah, I know! Who could have seen that coming? Obviously nobody, until it was dramatically revealed at the end of the sixth book. I did plant some subtle clues though, like Tristan looking exactly like the dead king's portrait.
You can perhaps understand why, upon reaching adulthood, I decided to pursue other projects and put this one on indefinite hiatus.
But these characters still live rent-free in my brain, and every so often I think of how I might revive this into something not only readable, but maybe even decent and not the most obvious trash heap of clichés ever. So here's a brief summary of Tristan and his group of companions and vague ideas of what they'd be like in the revised version.
MAIN CHARACTERS
Tristan: The old Tristan was your "vaguely geeky and unpopular, mostly generic kid" sort of character; since he was supposed to eventually become a king, I did try to make him a good leader of his little group, mostly in the sense of being the diplomatic one when they fought. In the new version I want to both up his geekiness but also his charm, so we see that he's really popular at school and has a lot of friends.
One change that I think could be interesting is that Tristan also came to our world when he was a toddler rather than an infant; as such, he actually remembers the murder of his birth family, if only in vague and terrifying terms. Nobody knows his origin, but he's been in therapy long enough to believe that the "monsters" he remembers were surely ho-hum human murderers distorted by trauma, and anything that sounds like a castle or magic are also probably imaginary. He really, really would prefer to believe that, but the plot isn't going to let him.
When he finally winds up in Fantasy World The Name of Which I Need to Change, he is decidedly not going to want to take the throne. Whether or not he does anyway is undecided at this point.
Erasmus: Tristan's foster/adoptive brother (biological cousin in the old version), of approximately the same age. Timid and shy, he's both very close to Tristan and maybe a bit resentful at how much more outgoing and popular he is. There's a bit of irony there: Tristan comes off as happy and well-adjusted to most people, but "Raz" knows that Tristan also has a mysterious, traumatic past, which also means that Tristan can be at least a little vulnerable around him.
I think he's an albino, for reasons that relate the old version but I don't even want to get into right now. And hey, disability rep.
E(d)ric: In the new version he's probably, like...a football player or something? He's supposed to be a big guy and the best "normal" fighter. He's reserved and grouchy but extremely loyal to people he cares about. Reading this over, I feel like I need something to make him more interesting.
Cynthia: Hmm...in the old version she was a witch, but since I'm reimagining all of the main characters as being from our world, I'm not sure how that would carry over. Maybe she gains/has magic in the fantasy world for some reason? She's tough, sarcastic and smart. Erasmus has a crush on her. I swear she wasn't the only female character in the old version, but apparently she was the only one important enough for me to list here.
Pythian the magical snake, Bast(et?) the cat, That Baby Hippogriff Whose Name I Don't Even Remember: There were way too many team pets in the old version.
OTHERS
The Guide: Merlin knockoff. Actually, I think in my earliest draft he was Merlin, somehow, and I don't even know how fourteen-year-old me justified that. He may have been the one who sent Tristan to our world, but then stayed in Fantasy World to help fight the villains. Maybe he's more involved here? Hmm.
Jay: He was Tristan's younger foster brother in the old version (so his and Erasmus' here?), who witnessed him getting sucked into Fantasy World and wanted to figure out what the frick happened to him. I think that concept is interesting, but I'm not sure where it goes, exactly.
Connor: E(d)ric's younger brother. Looking back, pretty much everything I had planned for him in the old version was stupid or would work better for other characters. Not sure what to do with you, Connor. Maybe he's Jay's friend.

martha’s blog. // do not reblog.
these are canonical posts created by the writers in bbc. i did not come up with these, but they do fit well with my characterisation of martha. credit to aproperdoctor who archived it all here !
Friday, March 23, 2007 The first entry! Current mood: busy Category: Blogging
Hey – my name is Martha Jones and this is the story of my life.
Or something.
If you'd told me a year ago that one day I'd be keeping a blog, I'd have probably laughed in your face. It so isn't me. So why am I doing this?
I'm a medical student, just started training at the Royal Hope here in sunny London. There's a bunch of us there all under the wonderful gentle guiding tuition of Mr Stoker. And I've just realised that sarcasm doesn't really come across in blogs. Stoker's a pain. In fact, he's pretty obnoxious. Luckily, I get on with the other students especially Morgenstern and Julia. M's a geek. He's nice but too geeky, even for me. He was the one who suggested I start doing all this. He reckons that writing things down helps make it all make sense in your head. Which would be nice because there's so much going on in my life, I don't even have time to think. Although I don't think M thinks about much more than Dungeons and Dragons really. Julia's a real sweetheart, though. She's engaged to a guy called Steve and is completely loved-up. Bless! And, like me, she's a bit of a Harry Potter fan. Oh God, we're all geeks!
What else to tell you? Well, I've always wanted to be a doctor. Ever since I was a kid. When I was 15 I could tell people every single bone that makes up the human hand. Which, admittedly, wasn't helpful in the popularity stakes at school but it's the kind of thing that fascinates me. I mean, it's almost like magic how everything around us works but it's also like I need to understand it. Even something like Father Christmas! I remember asking Dad how he got to every house in the world on one night and what was the magic that meant his reindeer could fly. Oh God, I was one of those kids who said "Why???" a lot!! Everyone must have really loved me!
Talking of Dad, that's what else I've got going on in my life. You'd think that at the old old age of 23 you'd be less involved with your family but, no. Mine are pretty mad and they're still a huge part of my life. I've got my own flat (well, rented) and I'm studying to be a doctor and I haven't lived with my parents since I was 18 but yet, they're still there. On the phone. Every day. Love them really, though.
And that's it really. Studying and family and rent and buying bread and light bulbs and occasionally, I get a minute to myself.
And that's when I'll be updating this blog. And that's why I'm doing this. Because, and don't tell anyone this, but I get so bored in those minutes!
Monday, March 26, 2007 The family get-together... Category: Blogging
Well last night wasn't exactly fun. Tish, my sister, has just got a job doing PR for some new research company so yay for her. But, being Tish, she wanted a 'proper celebration' which means Dinner With The Family followed by a night out in town. Thing is, Dinner With The Family means making the decision whether to invite Mum ('Are you working hard enough, Martha? Are you revising for your exams, Martha?') or Dad ('Have you found yourself a boyfriend yet, Martha? You should be more like your sister, Martha!'). And if we invite Dad, do we invite his girlfriend Annalise ('Martha! You really really must let me do something with your hair!')? So, to try and be fair, we invited all three. I mean, they're adults (well, Annalise is technically an adult) so surely they could get along for just one meal.
But, no. Apparently not.
I don't know about you but I've found that as I've got older, my parents have somehow got younger. Mum never had a job let alone a career when she was bringing us up but now you won't see her without a briefcase and as for Dad, well mid-life crisis doesn't even begin to describe that whole situation. So, we went to the Indian buffet place on Chancellor Street. All you can eat for £12.50. I think I'd only got halfway through my garlic naan when Mum started on Annalise. Annalise was picking all the… well, basically, all the actual food out of her korma. Mum said that she shouldn't be so fussy and that there were thousands of starving kids in Africa who'd be grateful for a piece of chicken. Leo, my brother, the youngest of the family (but the one already settled down with a home, a girlfriend and a baby, Keisha) was already a bit merry and asked Mum to name one. Annalise told Leo that she didn't think that was very funny. Mum said that Annalise shouldn't try to tell her kids what is and isn't funny. Dad said that Mum had no right to say anything as she's always too busy with work and that at least Annalise is there for us. Tish said that Dad shouldn't have a go at Mum as he was the one who'd walked out on us.
And, predictably enough, it all kicked off. Cue lots of shouting and screaming and scattered pilau.
Surprisingly, no plates were broken but the whole thing ended up with Dad and Annalise walking out, Mum having to take Leo back to his place and Tish trying to persuade me to go clubbing. I'm too old for clubbing! I'm quite happy going back to my flat and chilling out. What with work and my family, evenings are the only time I get to just sit in front of the telly or read a book. And, yes, I know just how boring that makes me sound.
And, of course, this morning I've been getting calls from all of them, asking me whose side I'm on. I mean, I know I shouldn't complain. I'm so lucky not to be alone or anything but, sometimes, I wouldn't mind if it was maybe just a little bit quieter.
Not much chance of that, though. It's Leo's 21st in a couple of weeks. I'm guessing that it's going to be some party…
Tuesday, March 27, 2007 An odd day. Current mood: numb
Today was a bit odd.
Julia has split up with her fiancé, Steve. At lunchtime I took her to our local coffee shop so she could have a moan about it all. In one way it was nice that she feels I'm the person she can talk to but it also reminded me of my old mate Vicky. Vicky would always come to me for advice about her men, and as Julia sat there, crying into her latte, I realised that I was responding in exactly the same way. Asking her how she felt. Asking her what she wanted. Agreeing that he wasn't worth it. Just never telling her what I really thought because that's not really what she wants to hear. It's completely one-sided.
So this thing with Julia got me thinking. Do we always attract the same type of friends? Wherever I go in life, am I going to end up with a best mate who isn't really interested in what I think but sees me as some kind of emotional crutch? Maybe I give out signals that attract those kind of people.
Which is all a bit profound for me but I'm allowed to be a bit thoughtful as I saw a patient die in front of me today.
I've been lucky in life when it comes to death. The only person I know who died in the last few years was my cousin but, otherwise, it's not something I've really had to face. I've seen bodies before, obviously, as part of my course but today was the first time I actually saw someone die. We all did out best to save him, but he was beyond help really. What surprised me was that Stoker was actually really good about it. He listened to us as we blamed ourselves and then said that we'd have to accept that this would happen. That it's part of the job. The only thing he did tell me off about was that I immediately closed the patient's eyes. He didn't seem to think it was important. To be honest, I'm not sure why I felt it was important. I guess I just think it's respectful.
It's weird really. In one way, my life is totally normal. Family. Rent. Bills. Going out. But then I'm also starting to deal with life and death situations on a daily basis. Julia reckons I'm coping with it better than her and maybe that's how it looks to her and everyone else but inside, I'm not sure if I am coping with it at all. Maybe that's why keeping this blog thing is useful. It means that I can be honest about how I'm really feeling about stuff.
I'm relying on this blog in the same way that Vicky and Julia and Tish and whoever else rely on me!
Oh and because I'd hate to end on a downer and depress you all, today I finally got myself a video mp3 player. So, yes, I am now officially a member of the 21st Century!
Thursday, March 29, 2007 The calm before the storm... Current mood: calm
Stoker managed to make Morgenstern cry today. It's like he actually wants us to fail. He just never gives us enough time to think. He asked Morgenstern a question about a patient's chart. M's glasses were steamed up so he took them off to clean them. At which point, Stoker stormed off telling us to wait there. Then, he was back. With a pair of binoculars. He asked M if these would help and that perhaps he should consider laser surgery on his eyes so that patients don't start entering the next life while he's polishing his cheap glasses. When M started to cry, Stoker actually smiled as if he'd won some kind of competition. I was so mad, I took the chart from M and said that I would take this patient and he could take the next one which would give him a minute to sort out his glasses. I mean, M might be a geek but he doesn't deserve that treatment. I think Stoker just gets off on the power.
Other that that, it's been a day spent on the phone. It's Leo's 21st tomorrow. And, knowing my family, it won't exactly be a nice quiet civilised soiree. I've had Tish on the phone for over an hour suggesting ways we can keep Mum and Annalise apart. Mum saying that she won't be there if 'that girl' is there. Dad saying he won't be there if he can't bring Annalise. And so on and so on. In the end I told them all my battery was dying and that I had to go but that I'd speak to them in the morning. Then I switched off my mobile, pulled down the blinds, put away my text books and got myself a mug of hot chocolate. And I'm officially having A Night Off.
And I've realised that I what I really need is a holiday. It doesn't matter where I go but I could just do with a break from being me. A break from work and studying and trying to keep my family together and trying to keep Stoker happy and waaaah! Ooh, I haven't said 'waaaah!' in years – things must be bad! I mean, it's all fine really. Everything's great and that but maybe a little breather would be nice. Or maybe Dad's right, perish the thought, and I need to find myself a bloke.
So, no doubt in the morning, I'll have Tish on the phone going on about her new job and then Mum going on about Annalise and then Julia asking me whether she should give Steve another chance and, yeah I'm going to say it again – waaaah!
But, just for tonight - for one night only - Martha Jones is having a very quiet and brilliantly boring evening. I've done my washing so there's knickers on the radiator and socks in the sink. I'm a real lady, me. I've wrapped Leo's present (he wanted a Playstation but he's getting a toaster). I've got myself a glass of wine and I'm curled up on the sofa watching Saxon winding up Paxman on Newsnight. Then it's off to get a good night's sleep before it all kicks off again in the morning. The calm before the storm!
Saturday, March 31, 2007 ... Current mood: shocked Okay. Trying to find the words to describe today. Odd. Terrifying. Brilliant. Mad.
You'll have seen it on the news, of course. The Royal Hope disappearing and then coming back. Firstly, don't listen to what they're saying. We weren't drugged. We DID go to the moon. It's funny, I'm looking up at it now and remembering what it was like to be there and look down at the Earth and... I don't know... it's like it was all a dream. I've tried phoning Julia but she's still really messed up by it all. It's like there's nobody I can talk to about what happened. So hooray for the blog!
Well I say there's nobody I can talk to but there is one man. But he's gone. He disappeared just after we came back. Yeah, he's gone.
So what happened? I might as well tell you although you'll think I'm mad. Basically (haha!) there was this old woman who was actually an alien and these intergalactic alien police were looking for her so they took the whole hospital to the moon because it's neutral territory and they were trying to find her but because she looked like a human the alien police had to scan us all and we were running out of air and we were all going to die and... one man saved us. I mean, I helped but he was something else. He called himself the Doctor but he wasn't a doctor, he was an alien. And he was brilliant. And, okay, I know this'll sound crazy what with everything I've been through but I'm actually really annoyed with him right now because he left. He saved us all and then just left without even saying goodbye and... no, before anyone starts posting stupid comments, I didn't fancy him or anything. I mean to be honest, he was a bit geeky and, obviously as an alien, he was well strange but... I thought we connected. And then he just left.
And he leaves me here. I'm here, in my flat. Getting ready for Leo's birthday and it's like for everyone else, none of it really happened. I know that I'll get to the party and everyone will be asking me about it all but then the conversation will change to whatever mad dress Annalise is wearing or about how cute Keisha is and I'll be forgotten. Still, I guess that's life, really. No use getting down about it. I mean, I could have died on the moon today so it could have been worse ? And, if I can survive today then Leo's party should be easy! So, yeah. I'm just going to enjoy myself and try to forget about him.
But if you're reading this, Doctor. Then at least come back and say goodbye. That's all I'm asking.

Shakespeare!
Do you believe in magic? Because you won't believe where I am... and 'when' I am!
The Doctor came back for me. After Leo's party. He just turned up and offered me a trip in his time machine. Okay, some of you will be laughing but come on, after everything that's happened over the last few years – Saxon shooting down that big alien deathstar thing, the Cybermen – it's not that mad to suggest there's such a thing as time travel, is it? Or do you still believe it was drugs in the water? Go look online. It's easy enough to find the real answers if you ask the right questions.
So, yeah, he came back and he offered me the chance to go on a trip. Trip's the wrong word – makes it sound like a school trip and this is so much more! So off we went... BACK TO 1599!!!! And we met WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE!!!
Okay, I'll calm down but seriously, it was mental. I was there. Eating and drinking and sleeping in 1599. I actually breathed in the air of 16th Century London! You see period dramas and stuff on telly but this was different. It was so real. The people there were real. It wasn't all stiff and 'forsooth, thou dost whatever'. The people were just like us.
Especially Will. Oh, he was fit! Who'd have thought it? William Shakespeare is sexy! And maybe just a little bit of a prat. But there's nothing wrong with that.
The thing is, I studied Shakespeare at school. We even went on a trip to Stratford to see As You Like It (which is meant to be a comedy but the version we saw was like an EastEnders omnibus). I couldn't stand it. Our teachers just made it all so dull. They made it seem like "Shakespeare" is this big, serious, intellectual thing when really it isn't. It's one bloke who had this completely magical power to use words to make something beautiful and exciting. And it so isn't intellectual. I mean it's amazing stuff but it isn't this elitist thing just for the clever people. If he were around now, he'd be writing for BBC1 not BBC4. I was there! I saw it. It was for the masses. It is for the masses! It's big and magical and sexy! And as soon as I get back, I'm taking the family to see one of his plays. Maybe Macbeth aka The One With The Witches.
Sorry if this is all a bit incoherent and full of exclamation marks but you know what? I'm on holiday – possibly the best holiday anyone's ever been on.
And for those of you who don't believe any of this, as the great man once said...
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
And believe me, there are so many more things in heaven and earth. Especially him. The Doctor. I'm still not sure how to describe him. He's the most amazing, brilliant, annoying man I've ever met. He's like heaven and earth all rolled up in tight trousers.
So, yeah, I guess I believe in magic because that's how I'd describe him. And if he thinks he's getting rid of me now, he'd better think again!

The Doctor
Isn't it funny how you don't really find out much about a person until you're both standing still?
Since I met the Doctor it's been all go. We really haven't stopped moving but today we got stuck in traffic. Of course, it was space-age traffic millions of years into the future. And unlike normal traffic jams it was all a bit freaky – brilliant and terrifying. It was so scary, in fact, that afterwards I briefly thought about asking the Doctor to take me home. It was the darkest thing I've been through since I thought we were all going to suffocate in the hospital and in some ways this was even worse because nobody would have known where I was. I was totally alone.
But it was also – I'm trying to think of a better word than beautiful but that's exactly what it was. Think about the first time you went into a church and multiply it by a thousand and you might be halfway there. There were all these people who were trapped in like the grimmest situation possible but they weren't letting it get them down. They had such real hope and faith. I've honestly never seen anything like it. And even though they were all trapped and alone like me, somehow they were like reaching out to each other and refusing to be alone. They just wouldn't give up. And yeah I know this all sounds a bit joss stick-y but it was the most amazing thing I think I've ever felt.
And it made me wonder just who this bloke is. So I asked him and I found out why he's alone. Nearly everyone he knew died in a big war. He's the last of his race is how he says it, but that's just a bit glib - I'm trying to imagine losing my family, my friends, everyone you've ever seen on telly. Them all just being gone. I don't think I could cope.
And to top it all, today he saw one of his oldest friends die. This alien thing called the Face of Boe (and to think when I was growing up, I complained about being called Martha) just died after waiting years to say goodbye to the Doctor. And it was so sad but kind of beautiful and it made me wonder just how many people the Doctor's lost in his life.
And I know I've complained about how noisy my life can be but his... well, I can see why he lives the life he does. He's filling it with noise because I think he'd go mad if he didn't. Thing is, if I hadn't got him to tell me about who he really is, I maybe would have asked to go home but I can't now. I mean, I've been seeing all this as just the biggest most exciting thing in my life but it isn't just that. He needs me. Yeah, he reckons he prefers to be alone but I know he needs me. Of course, he might be a Time Lord with two hearts but he's still basically a bloke so he can't say it. And he'd get all embarrassed if I said anything so I reckon what I've got to do is make it seem like it's his idea. I've got to make him ask me to stay. Because I don't think he'd cope on his own. And because behind all the madness, he's basically a real decent bloke.
Oh, and in case you're reaching for the sick bags because you think I've gone all deep and emotional and stuff, today I also met a talking cat – a cat who was a nun! Which was fun. So there!

New York
Start spreading the news... I've been to New York!
It's a place I've always wanted to go to. Me and Tish used to plan to do it every year but things always got in the way. Work and stuff.
The Big A is everything you'd expect it to be and so much more. It's really brilliant. It's full of lights and music and madness. Oh, and sewers! Yeah, ever the glamour girl, I've been into the sewers. No alligators though. Just... well, worse things.
We saw the Statue of Liberty and went to Central Park – but it wasn't exactly like it is on Friends what with it being 1930! It's strange how I've already got used to the whole concept of being in a different year. I mean, it's still completely mad but, yeah, I'm definitely getting the hang of this time travel thing.
Worst bit: The Daleks. I'll tell you more about them next time but they're not good, let's put it that way.
Best bit: We went to this theatre and I went on stage and sort of danced with a bunch of showgirls – jazz hands!!
One of the girls was called Tallulah (three 'l's, one 'h'). She was great. She reminded me a bit of the people we met in the space traffic jam thing. Things weren't brilliant for her. She was skint and her bloke had disappeared but she wasn't letting it get to her. She was totally full of hope and that. And, also, even though she was probably the same age as me, she's really in love and it's weird because I've never properly felt that for anyone. I mean, I've had what my mum calls 'distractions' in the past but never anything truly heavy or whatever. And now I'm starting to feel these things that just make everything else seem so... unimportant. Oh, I'm so deep, me.
So yeah anyway, New York was brilliant and mad but, like London, full of the homeless and, trust me, I'm feeling dead guilty right now about all those times I lied to that Big Issue seller about having no change. I think when you've had an oh-so-perfect, lovely middle-class upbringing like me, you kind of don't see the homeless as... well, not people but you don't see them as people like you. You can't imagine that such a thing would ever happen to you so they must have done something to end up like that. And I know that's sounds so horrible but when you're running late for work and that, they're just kind of in the way. In New York, though, I spent some time with a bunch of homeless guys and they'd been like us once. No, that's wrong - they still were like us. They were still... human. Unlike some of the others I met...
So yeah, New York. Mad and brilliant and a little bit sad. Haha – a bit like the Doctor!
Actually, that's not funny because he's really down at the moment. Because of the Daleks and what they did.....

New York (again!)
More news from the holiday of a lifetime...
New York – Like I said, mad city, mad experience. It's this place that seems to attract all sorts really. Showgirls and Time Lords and Nearly Doctors and the homeless - and also these aliens called the Daleks.
The Doctor told me about them before. They're the reason he's alone, you see. There was this huge war between his people and them and everyone lost. The Daleks took everything away from him and he's so sad about it. Thing is, I guess like him really, somehow they survived. Well, some of them. And they're not surviving like he is. They're not surviving out of some kind of hope or whatever. They've survived by being monsters. It's more like they're scared of dying rather than that they want to live. If that makes any sort of sense at all!
Do you know what was so brilliant, though? They're the Doctor's greatest fear. They're the creatures that have taken everything away from him. They're basically evil. But, because just one of them started to question things, because one of them started to show signs of wanting to change... he gave them a second chance. I mean, I've seen him, yeah. I know that despite what he looks like, he could have just killed them all so easily. But he didn't. He tries so hard to hide it but he's got so much compassion. Basically I think he tries to put on a bit of a tough guy act, but that's not who he is really.
Oh, and things have changed between us since I got him to open up about his past. It's almost like he's got this thing about testing me - presumably so that I can prove that I'm as brilliantly amazing as this Rose person he's always going on about. Actually, that's not really fair. He isn't testing me so much as expecting me to work things out for myself. Which is great as I guess it means he's not just seeing me as some kind of passenger. Thing is, I think I have proved myself. I questioned the Daleks. I saved Tallulah and Frank from some genetically-modified Dalek slave creatures. I worked out that it was all happening in the Empire State Building and... I think, most importantly, I'm enjoying it. And he must be able to see that. So, yeah, things are good between us and it looks like this little holiday of a lifetime could be going on just a little bit longer. Which is great because, you know what? Despite the Daleks and the giant evil crabs and the witches and all that, I'm loving it...

Home again
Okay, I was wrong. Sort of, anyway...
He brought me home. After everything we've been through, he brought me home. Which is fair enough, I guess. It's up to him who he travels with but, yeah, to say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
But then, as always with him, things got in the way... I'm guessing you saw the Lazarus Laboratory thing on the news. And I'm guessing that by now, you've worked out that the Doctor was involved. Thing is, this time so were my family.
I remember when I first went away to Uni. Came back for Christmas (that time of peace and goodwill – haha!) and it was so odd how they'd changed. We'd all grown up together and been through everything together but, after just a couple of months, it was obvious that things had changed. The cracks had started to show in mum and dad's marriage (and even though he eventually had the affair, mum realised their whole relationship was going wrong way before Annalise actually arrived on the scene. She's pretty sharp, my old ma!) Tish and Leo had both changed as well. Tish had moved into some tiny little bedsit and Leo had started seeing Shonara. And it had all happened while I was away. Which I guess is normal for families.
This time it was different. For them, it was the day after Leo's birthday thing but for me? Well, you know what I've been through. You know what I've seen and done since then. So, yeah, it was like I'd changed but they hadn't. I have changed, I realise that. I'm seeing things differently. And for them, I'd not even been away so none of them would understand just how big it all is. And I can't tell them because they'd think I was mad. Blimey, time travel messes with your mind.
Actually, I say they haven't changed but Leo told me that he was going to vote in the election. Leo?! Voting?!?! The world has officially gone mad.
One thing that so hadn't changed was that even though it was Tish's night, mum was still focussed on me. Tish is a year older than me but I've always been the responsible one (or the boring one as someone with a death wish might say). She never went to Uni or anything so I've always been treated as the oldest. Mum's always said that Tish should be more like me which isn't the best thing a mum can do but she doesn't mean anything bad by it. I think Tish used to resent me for it but, right now, we get on great. It's like we have this competition - I'm always trying to get her to grow up and she's always trying to get me to chill. And I've just realised, it's like we're swapping lives! I'm the one on the big holiday and she's the one in the business suit. Oh and that's mental as well. She's somehow got herself this big important job but she's such a mess. Honestly, you should see the state of her flat!! Mine, of course, is spotless.
And seeing them all, it was difficult in a way because it reminded me of what I'm leaving behind when I go off with the Doctor. I know they'll be there for me when I get back but I just hope neither me or them change too much. When I go off with the Doctor? Oh yeah, despite what I said at the beginning, I'm off again! But this time, it's totally on my terms.
You see, at the end of it all, the Doctor said I could go on one more trip but I said no. I don't care that he's the most amazing bloke I've ever met, I'm not going to be some kind of hitcher. I'm not going to be his assistant. So, I told him this. And he said I was never really that anyway.
So we're off together – as equals? Well, 60/40. Oh all right, 35/75. But it's definitely a more…permanent arrangement this time. And where now? Somewhere new. Somewhere brilliant, probably. Somewhere mad, definitely. And, hopefully, somewhere nice and sunny!

Today I was a long way from home...
We landed on a spaceship in this place called the Torajii system. The sun was alive and possessing people. Like I said, long way from home.
I remember the time I first came home from Uni. The hardest thing about it wasn't seeing that mum and dad were close to splitting up but it was suddenly realising that we were all changing. Suddenly I had this thing of not quite knowing what to say to them because we no longer had this shared experience of life that we'd had up until then. We talked about what I'd been up to and what they'd been doing but it was all a bit awkward and we had to kind of scrabble around, trying to find something we'd all watched on the telly. It passed, of course after the first night everything was pretty much back to normal but it was so strange suddenly feeling a bit separate from them. Something like that happened today. Basically, I thought I was going to die. Actually I knew I was going to die. So I phoned mum. And I didn't know what to say. Obviously, I couldn't tell her what I was doing (she has enough of a problem with the Doctor without me making it worse) but because we didn't have anything immediately in common, because we didn't have the time to settle into relaxing and chatting normally, it just felt so odd. Like we were living such different lives. She sounded distracted (presumably because of work) and I knew I was going to die (I didn't, of course. The Doctor saved me). You'd think, knowing you were going to die, that it'd be like something on Holby City. I'd have some huge speech about loving my family and how they shouldn't feel sad and that but... I didn't. So, yeah, that was scary.
Something even worse happened though. And, again, it reminded me of something that happened when I was growing up. Do you remember that time you first realised your parents weren't perfect? As a kid, you think they know everything and they're flawless and all that. Then, when you start to grow up, you start to rebel but deep down you still think they're right but then, one day, you suddenly realise that they're human and fallible like everyone else and it's kind of scary. Well I had something like that today, only so much worse. The Doctor was possessed by a sun and... he was scared. He told me that he was scared. Which, again, you'd think would be a good 'finally he's not being such a bloke' thing but it wasn't. It was probably the most terrifying moment I've experienced since we started travelling together. Just him saying those words, made the Universe so much bigger and... yeah, basically it was terrifying but, hey, some good came out of it! I think it's brought us even closer together as I did, kind of anyway, save his life. And he thanked me which is also a first! I'm slowly chipping away that at that barrier!
But, yeah, seeing him just being so... vulnerable. I just wanted to hold him and tell him that everything is okay but... sorry trying to think of the words and I don't have much time... but yeah, it was like when you first have to comfort your mum about something. I had to do it when my cousin died. I was upset, of course, but mum was devastated and it was me that was hugging her and comforting her and in one way that's great but in another it's terrifying because it feels wrong. You realise that we're all the same. We all get scared. We all get upset. We all need comforting. And, sometimes, you have to be the grown-up. Sometimes, you have to be the Doctor.
Anyway, enough about families and stuff! I've got to stop getting what Tish calls so emo! It isn't normally in my nature to be like this but I guess everyone's human.
More soon!

The Doctor is gone.
He's lying outside the TARDIS and he's breathing but he's not the Doctor any more. And I'm scared because of what he's done to himself so I'm writing this in case something happens.
It all started after we left the Torajii system. Well I say it all started, it never actually stopped. We just went to so many places and got caught up in so many things. We met shape-changing aliens and people who weren't real and creatures everyone thought were extinct. We went back in time and forward in time and just... it never stopped! So, then we found ourselves back in the TARDIS and the Doctor asked me where I wanted to go next. And I said that I'd like to go somewhere where we could just sit and chat, you know. Like normal people do! So I figured he'd take me to Starbucks or something. But, yeah, this is the Doctor we're talking about...
He took me to this place called the Eye of Orion. It was beautiful. So calm and still and alien but not in a bad way. . He told me that, back in the old days, the Eye of Orion used to be sort of like a holiday resort. But now it's this shrine to the Time War. It was all ruins and grass and mist and just so quiet. We went to a meadow and standing in it was this stone that was about the same height as me. He said it was a war memorial. I asked him why there weren't any names on it and he said it was because too many people had died. I took his hand and we sat down. And we sat there, huddled under a blanket, drinking tea from an old thermos.
And he told me about the Time War. It reminded me of when I was a kid and Granddad told me about what he did during World War Two. It was this huge, big, incomprehensible historical thing that we learnt about at school but for the people who were there, it was their life. It wasn't something they learnt about or knew what had caused it or anything. One minute they were living their lives as normal, the next they were having to kill people and be killed and fight and... I remember my Granddad crying.
The Doctor didn't cry. He just looked so lost and sad. He told me about what happened at Arcadia and he told me about the friends he'd lost. The Time War was just inconceivably big and as he told me about it, I thought how strange it was that us lot on Earth hadn't known about it. And then I realised that it wasn't the first time a war had been going on in my lifetime which I'd not really noticed. And I felt pretty selfish. I've been so worried about my career and about keeping mum away from Annalise and whether I can afford a new jacket and so many other little stupid things when really I should be thanking people like Granddad and the Doctor for just giving me the chance to live.
After a while, he went silent and we just held hands and sat there. And it was perfect. Then he jumped up, looked down at me and said that it was time to have some fun! 'Less angst, more fun!' were his words.
And he took me to Helsinki. To last year's Eurovision contest! I was slightly concerned that he genuinely seemed to enjoy the music and he was embarrassingly excited about the Slovenian entry who had lights on her hand, but it was a brilliant night. We had such a laugh, and I tell you something, he's not a bad mover! We both agreed there was something pretty cool about how only a few years before all these countries had been at war and now they're sending camp men dressed in foil to sing bad songs at some concert.
Anyway, we didn't stay for the results because we both already knew who won - sorry Scooch, that's time travel, you know what's coming. So we left the arena and we were just returning to the TARDIS when we saw this green light glowing from around the corner – and we could hear the sound of someone sniffing! I just assumed it was part of the celebrations but the Doctor went to check anyway. And within seconds, he was bombing back round the corner with his hands over his face. Followed, naturally, by laser fire. He pushed me into the TARDIS and ran in after me, shutting the doors. I asked him what was going on and he told me about this hunting family or something. He'd recognised them cos of the green stuff and the sniffing - but, luckily, they hadn't seen his face, or mine, which meant we had a chance. Problem is they'd be able to trace him because he's the only Time Lord that's left. So, he told me that the only way he could escape from them was to stop being a Time Lord and become human. And that's what he's done. Just like that.
And it all feels like it's happened so quickly. I'm about to leave the TARDIS now. We're in 1913 where he reckons we should be safe. I've got to drag him out to a field and when he wakes up, I've got to say he was in an accident and that we're on our way to his new job. As for me, I've got to be Martha the ever-so-humble maid. A while back, if he'd suggested that I'd have told him where to get off but after everything he's been through? After everything he's done for the rest of us? No, I'll be fine. Yeah, I'll be fine.
Wish me luck.

Long ago in an English winter there was this man. And he gave up his life to save all of us.
When the Doctor decided to become a human, I didn't really think about what that would actually mean. I suppose I thought it'd be like Wife Swap or something. I mean, I'm trying to imagine swapping my life with Leo. I love being Aunty Marth but the idea of giving up what I have, to be all settled down with a kid... yikes! But for the Doctor it was so much more than that.
He's lived for hundreds of years. I mean, that's big. That must change the way you look at anything. I've been thinking back to what he said to Lazarus – about how it's not how long you live but what you do with your life that matters. And I'm sure he meant it but it's not true, is it? The last couple of months I've spent with him have been the biggest thing in my life. But for him it must be the equivalent of like a conversation I once had with some stranger on the Tube. He's probably always going to be the most important person I'll ever meet but I must just be a small distraction to him.
The thing is, when he was a human, I told him something. I'm not ready to write it down here although I reckon you can probably guess what it was. The problem was that he fell in love. With someone else. She was called Joan and she was nice and everything and she loved him back. She'll never forget him but he'll forget her. The human John Smith gave up everything so that he could save the day and I think he did it more for her than for me or anyone else. He loved her in a way the Doctor can never do. He'll move on and she and everyone else we met will be forgotten. People like Jenny. Jenny was great. We were mates and then the Family came and took her because they were looking for the Doctor. And Tim. Such a little sweetheart. Going to be a real heartbreaker when he grows up. If he grows up, that is. Because that's the thing, isn't it? We've left Joan and Tim and everyone else back in 1913 and for them, the world is going to change and they're all going to be at war and some of them will die. And they'll be forgotten. In the same way that Joan was a tiny part of the Doctor's life, so they're all just a tiny part in history.
But I won't forget them and I know Joan will never forget John Smith.
And I just hope the Doctor will never forget me.
I was just about to send this off when the Doctor said he wanted to show me something. We left the TARDIS and we were back in my time. For a minute I was worried he was bringing me home again but then he told me to look where we were. We were in the same village but, like I say, so many years later. And there was some kind of service going on next to a war memorial. We watched from a distance and then the Doctor whispered in my ear that the old bloke in the wheelchair was Tim. He'd survived both wars and God knows what else! And there he was. In front of me. So much older but alive. And I realised that the memorial, like the one back on in the Eye of Orion, meant that we didn't forget the people we left behind.
And I was wrong. What I said earlier about the Doctor. That was wrong. Simply by bringing me here, he was showing me that he didn't forget.

Well, have you missed me?
Of course, you've probably not noticed I've been away. Time travel's funny like that. But, yeah, we've just spent a few weeks trapped in 1969! Which, to be fair, was more cheery than 1913.
It all started when we, yet again, arrived in 2007. I'm not sure why we keep going back there but I'm seriously hoping it's not because that's when Rose was from. Anyway, we landed in the grounds of this old house called Wester Drumlins. It was pretty cool actually. The kind of place Mum used to drag us to when we were kids. And in the garden, there were these statues. Only, they weren't statues. They were aliens of some sort. The Doctor said they're called Weeping Angels. Of course, he only realised that AFTER they'd zapped us back to 1969 – leaving the TARDIS behind. So, yeah, that's where we've been. The Swinging Sixties. Rock on!
Bless him, he had a bit of a panic about being separated from the TARDIS but I calmed him down. Told him we'd be fine. And, for once, I honestly knew that we would because we had this folder telling us what we needed to do. It was all this information compiled by this woman called Sally who lived in 2007. And she compiled it based on what we'd told her – in our future but her past. Time travel... it can seriously mess with your mind!! I asked the Doctor to explain it all to me but he started babbling on about timey-wimey devices so I stuck a banana in his mouth.
So, really, it was a case of the Doctor setting up all this stuff for Sally while I... lived, I guess. We got ourselves a little flat. Tiny little place that makes mine back home look like a palace. Oh and before you ask, he stayed on the sofa! Of course, to pay for it all, I had to get a job. In a shop. Now, there's nothing wrong with working in a shop. It beats being a maid anyway but it's a bit of a step down from being a nearly-Doctor. It was a bit of a laugh really. Got on great with the other girls although it was a shock to suddenly realise that they were the same age as my mum! So, yeah, days were spent in the shop and evenings either out with the girls or staying in and watching telly with the Doctor. Oh, now that's funny. You should have seen him, sitting watching the telly eating his dinner off a tray. He looked so uncomfortable. And I know it's cruel and wrong to laugh at that but him all hunched up on this tiny sofa, his gangly legs sticking out while he ate his beans and watched Coronation Street... it was like the most alien thing I think I've seen yet. Oh, and one night, we watched the Eurovision concert! Lulu was one of the winners with Boom Bang-a-Bang which was weird. Not her winning but the whole fact that only a few weeks ago we were at the 2007 Eurovision. It really brought home how all this time travel thing is just all a bit mental. In 1913, seeing Tim as a young kid then seeing him again in 2008 as an old man. Working with girls my age who are really my mum's age. Going from the 2007 Eurovision to watching the 1969 Eurovision. Being in the year where Harold Saxon was born but coming from the year where he's standing for Prime Minister. It's a bit like... everything's linked. Time isn't this linear thing that we think it is. Like there's, I dunno, some kind of pattern. Or something. I guess I'm just seeing the bigger picture. Hark at me getting all profound!
But yeah, ignoring all the head-messing madness of time travel, it's been fun. It's just been nice to spend some time with the Doctor where we're not running around fighting off alien invaders or whatever. We've just had time to sit and watch a bit of telly, eat normal food that kind of thing. You know, like normal friends do.
But it's also good to be off again. Not sure where we're heading. He's mentioned something about topping-up but I'm guessing he doesn't mean his mobile.
So, I'll speak to you soon from whatever year we next end up in! Rock on!

Everything’s gone wrong.
I pretty much saw the end of the human race today and everything's changed. So I'm sitting here with this big decision to make. The biggest decision I'll ever have to make. A decision that means I might... well, it's big. And the Doctor can say what he likes about blogging but I'm going back and reading my earlier entries and it's helping. Those first posts feel like they were written years ago by a different person but it's my life. It's everything I've done.
"Morgenstern was the one who suggested I start doing all this. He reckons that writing things down helps make it all make sense in your head."
And oh was he right. That daft nearly-Doctor was right. Because there's just so much to think about right now and it's all swirling around inside my head... the end of the human race. The end of the Universe. The Doctor being even bigger than I thought. The last thing the Face of Boe said. The Master. Harold Saxon. My mum. What's going to happen to me...
So, let's write it down. Let's put it in order.
It all started in Cardiff. Yeah, I know. Cardiff. We went there so the TARDIS could refuel and before we knew it we were just so far into the future that all the stars were gone. And we saw the end of the human race and met this man called Captain Jack Harkness. You know what, on any other day I'd probably be sitting here telling you how fit he was but, right now, that doesn't seem remotely important. But yeah, he was something else all right.
Thing is, he used to travel with the Doctor. Oh, and lovely Rose, of course. But the Doctor left him behind. They were best mates and he just left him behind. And it's made me think two things. Firstly, is that what he'd do with me? Just one day leave me behind, a million miles away from home. I mean, I never thought the Doctor'd do anything like that but then, this is a man who lost one of his hands and then apparently grew a new one. Jack keeps his old one in a jar – don't ask! Secondly though, and again reading the old blog entries really makes me think... when did I last speak to Julia? When did I last think about Keisha? After the Pentallian thing, I phoned my mum and said I'd call round for dinner. But I didn't. Travelling with the Doctor, doing all this... I'm not saying you become selfish but there is an element of leaving it all behind. You get so caught up in Weeping Angels and Daleks and war memorials and living suns... but, everything ends, doesn't it. You can have all the memorials you like but everything ends. I've just been to the end of the Universe where everything dies and I know he says Rose is okay but Jack thought he'd let her die. And I'm his best mate now... yeah, all right, I love him... but does it mean I'm safe? I get so distracted by the Doctor and everything that I don't even phone my mum and if I die...
'Chan' Let me tell you about Chanto 'to'. Actually, it's probably spelt C'h'aN'to' or something but it doesn't matter. She was an alien. The last of her kind. Part of an unrequited love thing. And instead of being all depressed, she was... wonderful. So sweet and lovely and helping the human race to survive. So, no, she doesn't remind me of anyone at all! But yeah, she was just so funny. She had to say 'Chan' at the start and 'to' at the end of every sentence. But, I got her to break that little rule and she loved it but then she died. She was killed. She was murdered. By the man she loved.
And he was a Time Lord called the Master who, well you won't believe who he else he was. But yeah, the Doctor was wrong. He wasn't the last of his people. And you'd think that would be a good thing. You know, it would be hope for the future or something. But he killed his friend. He killed the person who loved him most. And killing Chanto was just the first thing he did.
He took the TARDIS and left us in the darkness. He went away. And he changed everything. He broke everything.
Everything went wrong.

So, yeah, I’m still here.
Still remembering what I saw. Remembering what happened. Remembering what I did. And trying to make that choice.
Okay, so I got up to the bit where the Master left us billions of years in the future. The Doctor, me and Jack followed him back to Earth. Back home. It was so bad. Looking back, I remember just how helpless I felt and how I saw things that nobody should have to see. And how we ended up just having to hide to try and survive.
Which at least gave me and Jack the chance to get the Doctor to tell us the truth about the man who ruined everything. He's like the Doctor gone wrong. Another Time Lord but broken. I still can't get my head around how he was Professor Yana. The Professor was so brave and sweet but behind it all was this monster. The Doctor wanted to save the Master. And me and Jack – we wanted to kill him. I'm guessing that makes us the bad guys but we're only human. Yet, considering what happened... I'm still wondering whether I had the right idea. Which is such a terrible thing for me to think. But then again, you don't know what happened next.
The thing is, the Master was Harry Saxon. He travelled back in time and he was Saxon all along. And that's so strange because, I know who Saxon was. I knew about him before I met the Doctor. I watched him on telly and everything. It's like that timey-wimey stuff all over again. When I watched him on Newsnight, the day before I met the Doctor, he was the Master. He knew then who I was. And when I left, he used my family. He took them and used them to get at me. To get the Doctor. And for me it's been months but for them? It's only about a week. I suppose, if I'm going to find a bright side in all this, that's quite funny really. It wasn't the best week the Jones family have ever had. Leo's birthday, Lazarus' party, end of the world. Yeah, dead funny.
So, the Master brought these creatures to Earth. They were called the Toclafane and... and I still can't believe what they really were. The things they did to people. Obviously, you saw the President being murdered but that was just the start of it. The world as we knew it ended and I was on my own. Oh I remember how I used to pray for a bit of peace from my family, from Julia, from Stoker and my mates and... well, I guess the Master gave me that. He won. He had Mum and Dad and Tish. He had Jack. He had the Doctor. And I had to leave them all behind so I could save them.
And I watched as the world burned. The sky orange with fire. The trees covered in ash. The streets red with blood. And I can still hear the screaming. It's there in my head and I don't think that'll ever go away.
What feels like so much more than just a few months ago, I started this blog with "Hey – my name is Martha Jones and this is the story of my life."... now I'm going to really tell you that story. A life none of you know about.
I'm going to tell you the truth about what happened to Martha Jones.

Infinity
You know, I'm sitting here, trying to make the toughest choice I've ever had to make and all I'm thinking about is what the Master did. But that's not fair. There are so many things I haven't told you about. The time the Doctor left me stuck in the TARDIS – in a swamp! Hallowe'en in America. The giant mental birds and the sabre-toothed tigers and the badger-faced pirates. And, I really must tell you about the time we met the Terrible Zodin!
But that was back before everything went wrong. There was this time, ages ago now – before Saxon – where we went on this quest. We landed on a spaceship far into the future. But it wasn't like the Pentallian. It was like the ship had been grown rather than built. It was pretty amazing but, unfortunately, it was owned by this bloke called Baltazar. According to the Doctor he was the greatest despot who ever lived. But then, the Doctor says that about every despot. Anyway, this Baltazar wanted to get hold of something called the Infinite. It was another artefact from the Dark Time of Dark Space or whatever. And so, naturally, we had to stop him which meant going on this mad journey from planet to planet. We went to Pheros where there were these giant metal birds who ate gold. Then onto Bouken where we met some skeleton pirates who were attacking living oil rigs! Then to Myarr where these bugs were involved in a war with humans – all because of some dung. Then an ice planet called Volag-Noc where we trapped in this huge prison. And then onto the Hesperus Galaxy where we finally found the Infinite. It was wild, it really was. We saw so much in such a short space of time and I loved it.
And it wasn't just me. He was in his element. This was still quite early on though so I still wasn't sure what he was. I remember calling him a boy racer because in so many ways that's what he is but then I also saw him destroy Baltazar's ship with a spoon. I watched him stop a war in the space of a minute. He saved hundreds, thousands of lives without even blinking. He escaped from a high-security prison in less that five minutes. No wonder I felt the way I did.
Because that was when I really realised how I felt about him. The Infinite was this thing that could give you your heart's desire. So what did it give me? The Doctor. Well, a fake Doctor but yeah, it knew what I only knew deep down.
I love him and that's what makes this all so hard.
It tried to give the Doctor his heart's desire as well. At the time, the only thing I reckoned he'd really want is to be reunited with Rose. But looking back... knowing what I know now, I think that eventually his heart's desire did come true. He didn't want to be the last of the Time Lords. If just one other had survived, then he'd have some hope. Ironic, eh?
But back then, it was fun. Just seeing all those places and meeting all those people. Giant bug queens and robots and a man who was like a toad. And, yeah, saving the Earth with just a spoon. They were good times. So mad and mind-blowing and everything... and then we ended up here.
Me sitting here. Wishing it was like that again. But, after everything I've seen. After everything I've lost…
And all because of the Doctor's heart's desire.
Tuesday, July 03, 2007
My name is Martha Jones. You don’t know who I am.
You've forgotten about me and you've forgotten about him. You can't remember what happened. You can't remember the sky breaking and the horror that followed. You don't remember the end of the human race because it never happened. Everything changed.
So, let me tell you a story. Let me tell you the truth about Martha Jones.
I travelled across the world. From the ruins of New York, to the Fusion Mills of China, right across the Radiation Pits of Europe. And everywhere I went, I saw people, just like you. Living as slaves. But if Martha Jones became a legend then that's wrong, cos my name's not important. There's someone else. The man who sent me out there. The man who told me to walk the Earth.
And his name, is the Doctor.
That's a story I've told so many times to so many people and yet it doesn't mean anything to you, does it?
And I'm glad it doesn't. I'm glad you don't remember it. I'm so happy that you don't know what happened. I just wish my family could forget but they can't.
All you need to know is that the Master broke the world and the Doctor put it back together again.
The Doctor. Boy racer. Time Lord. Geek. The man who tried to save the Daleks in New York. The bloke who embarrassed me at Eurovision. The only person I know who could take on a living sun. The man who'll never understand that he's really not alone.
The man I loved.
But now my family need me. Mum especially. It's funny because we've both been lying to each other. She never told me she was helping Saxon (and that was only because they'd told her I was in danger with the Doctor so I don't blame her at all) and I never really told her what I was doing. And somehow everything we've been through, it's brought us closer together. She's still so devastated and it's going to take time but we're talking like we're mates now. It's like she's really seeing me as an adult for the first time.
He's outside now. I can see him. He's standing in front of that old wooden box and he's waiting. I wonder if he knows what I'm about to do. Nah, for the bravest and most wonderful man in the Universe, he can be a bit thick. Probably thinks I'm going to ask him to stay here and move in with us. Him and Dad eating beans together while watching Countdown.
But I won't forget him and he better not forget about me! Although I'm probably going to be too busy to update this for a while, I'm going to leave it here. It'll be like a memorial to the time we had. A memorial to the Doctor. Blimey, that sounds like he's dead!
Okay, I'm just rambling now. Putting off saying goodbye.
But I have to leave him. I have to let him go. And it's going to break my heart but I'll keep on smiling. I'm smiling because I know. I remember it all. The good times. The amazing thing that the human race did. The fantastic things he did.
And the pretty good things I did as well. I spent a lot of the time while travelling with him, thinking I was second best. But you know what? I'm not. And that's the truth about soon-to-be Doctor Martha Jones.
This is me, signing out.
Martha

PS: And I've just had an email offering me a job if I pass my exams! You wouldn't believe who it's from.

Tetsuro Kuroo x F!Reader Song ~ In Too Deep By Why Don't We Warning - Swearing Fluff SFW Word Count ~ 1.7k
So Happy Birthday @kimi09 loves ya sugar!
Kuroo sighed as he steps through the door, he placed his briefcase down on entrance hall table and his keys in the bowl as he rubbed the back of his neck trying to relieve some tension it had been yet another long gruelling day at the office the stress of making sure everything was ready and all the deadlines were being met was starting to set in.
The apartment was dark, reminding Kuroo just how late at night it was, he felt guilty not being able to come home at a reasonable time and he knew that she had to be asleep right now. He stepped into the kitchen flicking on the lights, needing a small late-night snack before having a shower and clambering into bed.
Walking up to the refrigerator, a lazy smile crossed his face as he opened the door and found a plate wrapped in cling film, on said plate was some sanma shio yaki. She knew him so well, and god did he just fallen even more in love with her for it. Grabbing the little sticky note from the top, 'Hey, baby. I'm sorry if I'm asleep when you get home, so I made your favourite for dinner, sorry it's cold. I love you, xoxoxo.'
He chuckled threw his nose soft before slipping the note in his pocket, Kuroo didn't even care that it was cold, she had made him his favourite food. Taking a seat the breakfast bar, he picked at his mackerel while scrolling threw his phone has a catch up on what he had missed that day on Twitter and Instagram. It was the usual, Bokuto being Bokuto, he had recently gotten a pet owl that looked exactly like him and was all he post recent, well that and the Black Jackels team. Kenma posting his new streaming times, Akaashi posting book quotes and other updates of his old friends and teammates.
He wondered into the bathroom once he had finished clearing off his plate and placing it in the dishwasher. Finally, a nice hot shower will wash away the stress of the day, he was looking forward to climbing into bed and snuggling up to his beloved.
Rubbing his hair dry and the rest him he pulled on a fresh pair of boxers brushed his teeth, and lazy yet quietly wandered into the door leading to their shared bedroom, as he pushed the door open a foot or two allowing the light to slip into the room, where he found his favourite sight, curled up in the middle of the bed clutching on to a pillow, wearing his old Nekoma jersey was his high school sweetheart. Sadly the jersey no longer fitter the former scheming Nekoma captain but it swamped her, it was basically a dress on the petit girl.
He remembered the first time she wore one of his t-shirts back in their second year of high school before they, finally, got together, by finally meaning Kuroo had had a crush on the girl since the school festival in their first year. She played the 'Drops of Jupiter' by Train, he was hypnotised by the way her fingers ran over the irony keys, but when he heard her voice, and that was it he was hooked, it was like a sirens call, he wanted to listen to her sing all the time.
From that day onwards he did everything in his power to hear her voice every day at school, whether she was just speaking or he would often stop by the piano room to listen to her sing, he had never spoken to her, she was the first to talk to him, he was stood with his back to the door as he listens to melody float out the room and down the corridor. "Ya know you can come in, right?"
He heard her voice floated to his ears, his head flickered around seeing her back still turned to him her fingers still running over the keys. Kuroo cleared his throat awkwardly, as he stepped into the room, she patted the stole she was sat on motioning him to take a seat next to her. So he did. He took a seat next to her. There was the dorn of their friendship, and both their feelings for one another grow swiftly.
The day he finally got up the courage to ask her was the day they got caught in a tracheal down poor, and it was the first time she wore one fo his T-shirts, and he knew at that moment he saw her in his geeky 'In Science we trust' top that she was the girl he was going to marry, begin a family with and cherish for the rest of his life.
"I'm in love with you," He blurted out of nowhere not even five seconds over walking back into his room wearing that t-shirt as she was rubbing her hair dry, the blush exploded over her cheeks as she gawked at him.
"Tetsu, you better not be messing with me right now," She mumbled as she nibbled on her right thumbnail, he knew that was her nervous tick.
He stood up, freshly showered after using his parent's bathroom. "I'm not fucking with you Y/n, I'm so deeply in love with you." He cupped her face in his hands, "I don't even know how to explain it, it's like suffocating when I'm around you, but in a good way, I just want to express how much I love you, and it's suffocating not being able to do it. When we're apart it's like I'm overboard in the middle of the ocean, I can't swim and your the only one who can save me"
Her eyes flickered around his, seeing the adoration swimming in his gray eyes.
"I love you too," She mumbled out as she hooked her arms around his neck pulling him down into a timid kiss, his hands found their way to her hips giving a light squeeze as he kissed her back with a little more force.
"Baby are you just going to stand there staring at me or are you going to come to bed," Her gentle sleep-filled voice reached his ears bring him out of his memories, he noticed she had rolled over and looked at him with heavy eyelids. He flicked off the hallway light and used the street lights that were peaking through the curtains to guide his way to the bed like he did most nights when he finished this late, crawling in bed wrapping an arm around her and his free hand to grab her left hand placing it on his chest like he did every time before he began to fiddle with her engagement ring he slipped their not three months.
"Sorry I didn't mean to wake you chibi, you just looked so peaceful I couldn't help but stare,"
His eyes were open wide the second the two words spilt from her lips. Just like he had done all those years ago blurting out he loved her, she just let the words slip from her lips like it was the most natural thing to do.
"It's okay, I was only half-asleep," She replied, placing a delicate kiss to his jawline before snuggling her face into the crook of his neck. "I had something I wanted-" cutting herself off as she yawning "wanted to tell you anyway,"
"Go to sleep it can wait till the morning, you're so tired." He smiled, planting a kiss on her forehead, letting out a happy sigh as he closed his eyes, pulling her closer to her side as he began to dose off.
"Tetsu," He rolled his eyes at the nickname of his first name, it was rare that she used that nickname and it was normal when she wanted to tell him something, his full name well then he knows he's in the shit. He knew she was going to make sure she told him tonight, "I'm pregnant."
Kuroo unravelled himself from her as he planted one of his hands placed next to her head on the pillow as he hovered over her, looking into her e/c eyes, his other hand was resting gently on her belly, his thumb stroking the soft skin."Are you serious?" He asked, eye wide and nervous, praying she was serious.
Y/n could hear the hope and fear in his words as they slipped out. She giggled and nodded her head as she brushed his slightly damp -one of the factors his hair is the way it is- hair from his face. She couldn't help but be excited when his whole face lit up with a joyess smile of excitement, and the tears welled in his eyes, he crawled down the bed pushing the old Jersey up exposing her stomach as he began to pepper kisses all over it.
"You're going to be a daddy," Running her fingers threw his hair as he continued to litter kisses on her exposed abdomen.
"I'm going to be a father." He chocked out as the tears ran down his face.
"How far along are you?" He questioned when he finally settled back in to bed with Y/n snuggled into his side with her lwft hand placed on his chest as he hummed contently once againg playing with the ring adorning her finger.
"Three months." He smirked instantly, he remembered that night, it was the night they got engaged.
"Good night baby, I love you so much" Y/n yawned out snuggling closer to the love of her life.
"Good night chibi and lil one," He replied bring her hand up to his lips placing kisses on the back of each of her knuckles as his other thumb continuously stroking the side of his stoamch as Kuroo realised he had the girl of his dream in his arms, who he was going to make his wife and she was carrying their first child. "Thankyou, for everything my love." He mumbled into her hair, her breathing became a relaxed even pace as she had fallen asleep.
He could not be more excited to start the next step in their life together.
Marriage and Parenthood.
He couldn't think of anyone else he would rather do it with.

I know you don't have to have formal education to be interested in geeky stuff and you don't have to like geeky stuff just because you have a lot of formal education, but I'm consistently baffled by the fact that my parents both have graduate degrees and neither of them has ANY knowledge of or interest in ANY part of geek culture. I just finished explaining to them that sometimes people make jokes about the number 42 because of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Neither of them knew this. Meanwhile I legitimately think I may have heard more jokes about 42 in my life than jokes about 69.

for @lotusplum‘s Benny ♥
Brandi Park is a 26-year-old Outdoor enthusiast who is looking for the woman of her life.
Brandi has always been very into nature and exploring. In grade school, she was made fun of for her nature geekiness. That didn’t dispirit her and she majored in Biology in University. In addition, she studied Experience planning and Hospitality. Nomen est omen, and Brandi became a Park Guide at Granite Falls where she now lives most of the year. During off-season, she lives with her brother and his boyfriend in Newcrest (their parents have died many years ago). She loves outdoors and enjoys her job but has started to show interest towards the Consevationist career.
Learning to play the guitar is on her bucket list. What would be more romantic than playing love songs around a campfire under the starry sky? Brandi is usually energetic and out-going but she has her gloomy moments. Being in the nature lifts her spirits. She has definitely flirted with the tourists she has guided but she hasn’t had a serious relationship since her University days. Maybe now’s the time?
Misc facts: » For everyday wear, she likes practical clothes but loves to dress up for special events » She’s a real foodie; even for a week long hike she packs gourmet meals (as impractical as it is) » In the city, she eats in a restaurant daily » She loves roasted marshmallows and s’mores - as long as the chocolate is of high quality! » She can mimic dozens of bird songs » She speaks three languages fluently » Her bucket list also includes but is not limited to: learning another language, eating a full course dinner in a Simchelin star restaurant, getting a tattoo in honour of her parents, studying constellations, woohooing in a waterfall...
Oh, I don’t know if she fits in either of Benny’s favoured types of women but here goes nothing =D

Hey can you do a th or pp fic (preferably pp) based on the song good old fashioned lover boy by Queen?
This is so damn long. Recently I was thinking of writing a lyric fic and this just made me realize how bad of an idea that is cuz this blows haha. Blue italics are the lyrics.
Ooh love, Ooh lover boy. What're you doing tonight? Hey boy.
You'd always thought Peter was attractive. But he'd never had eyes for you. He was all over girls like Liz and MJ. Or so you thought. Little did you know, he'd wondered, out loud to Ned, if he thought you'd ask him to the Sadie Hawkins dance, which Ned was unsure of. But you had no intention, and Pete was growing mopey at the idea of it not happening. And of course, one of your friends overhears him discussing it. So she went straight to you.
"Ask him." She pushed. You shake your head, clutching your book harder to your chest,
"No, absolutely not. He does NOT like me. It has to be another Y/N. There's no way." You reply quickly. She clicks her tongue,
"Its you. Its 100% you. I saw the way he looked at you. You HAVE to ask him or you'll both he disappointed." She says, grabbing your wrist and turning you sideways in the hall. All of the others squeeze past you, intent on getting to their next class, but Peter is there through the crowd, unruly curls a mess on his forehead. He holds a book under his arm, talking to Ned. However, when he looks up to scout out the halls, you lock eyes and your heart jolts up into your throat.
Set my alarm, turn on my charm
"Go. Talk to him." Your friend drags our, giving you a slap to the arm. You pout,
"I-I can't. I'm terrified. H-he doesn't like me. I know that. I can't be humiliated."
"Y/N, HE'S BLUSHING AND NED IS SMACKING HIM! IT'S YOU!" She practically yells. You huff, staring at her for a moment. She gives a geeky nod before you roll your eyes. When you turn to start towards him, Peter returns the slaps Ned dished out, eyes widening.
That's because I'm a good old-fashioned lover boy
"Dude, dude dude dude. She's coming back here. She's coming. What do I do?" He rushes, some of his words slurring together. Ned let's out a breath,
"Just... act like yourself. She loves that." Ned replies just as quickly, watching Peter smooth down his flannel as you nudge your way through the crowd of people, nearly running into him. Your eyes sparkle as you look up at him,
"Oh, hi." You mutter almost breathlessly. Peter smiles, the freckles on his cute little nose shifting,
"Hi." He replies softly.
Ooh, let me feel your heartbeat
His heart pounds out of his chest as you stare up at him for a moment, nearly lost in his eyes. But he thinks it's cute when you blush, because he's lost in your eyes too. You glance down at your feet,
"Uhm... okay, so Sadie Hawkins is comin up-" You start,
"Yeah?" He eggs on. Ned watches, a somewhat goofy smile on his face, eyes darting between the two of you,
"I was thinking that, if you want, not that you have to, but uhm... maybe... you and I can- you would like to be my date. But uhm, you don't have to. Or if you want to go, it doesn't have to be a date. We can-"
"Yes." Peter interjects your rambling. When you look up into his eyes again, a smile creeps to his lips again. He fiddles with the straps of his backpack as you smile.
Ooh, can you feel my love heat?
"Yeah?" You ask, almost in disbelief. He nods, looking down at the long nimble fingers on his hands, his eyebrows raising,
"Yeah. Yeah, I'd love to. As a date too." He implies, looking up again. Those soft, brown, puppy dog eyes are locked in yours again after searching your face and the full smile he possesses returns. You smile and nod yourself,
"Cool. Uhm... maybe we could... go out to eat and pick out our outfits and all. I mean... I know there isn't a steady income in your house so maybe like... I could get extra money to buy you a tie and we could maybe go to- well... nevermind, it was dumb."
"No... maybe we could go to Prom or something together. It's not a stupid idea. I like it. But uhm... you don't have to buy it. I can. I have some money for a tie and I have a tux kinda." He explains. You nod, licking your lips. It's his turn for his heart to jump up into his throat.
Come on and sit on my hot-seat of love
He gives a breathless smile as you nod,
"Okay... yeah, uhm, how does Sunday sound?" You pose, cradling your book to your chest tightly. He nods,
"Yeah... I'd love to. May can drive us-"
"No, I got it. I can drive us." You tell him. He nods again,
"Cool, uhhh," pulling his phone from his pocket, he unlocks it and holds it out, "put your number in and I'll text you my address. You can come pick me up and we'll go to lunch." You nod, quickly typing in your number, book held with your forearms to your chest. He scans your body, licking his lips. He's always liked you. Sure, there have been other girls, but you're always a reoccurring one. You're bright and funny and smart as hell and Peter loves it. He loves the intellectual challenge he gets from you. You smile and you hand his phone back. He takes it, pocketing the device,
"Can I uhh... can I walk you to forth period?" He inquires. You nod, pointing down the hall,
"Yeah, sure." You reply sweetly.
And tell me how do you feel right after-all
Pete turns to look at Ned, his best friend shooting him a thumbs up before he follows you, stepping up beside you. He holds his hand out for your book which you wave your hand between you to show it's not necessary,
"Oh come on, you just offered to buy me a tie for Sadie Hawkins, it's the least I could do." He says playfully. You smile, offering up your book shyly. He takes it, stacking it over his and holding it at his side. You lick your lips at his bicep tensing to support the weight, head lost in bliss that he actually said yes. You're actually going to Sadie Hawkins with Peter Parker. He smiles when he glances over and you're staring. He's thinking the same. You're perfect. You always have been and he can't get over it. He's going to Sadie Hawkins with his long time crush. He swallows before speaking up again.
"Do you... have a color... or dress in mind?" You look up at him and shake your head,
"Not particularly. Uhm... there's a white floral dress at one of those fancy shops in the mall. It's pretty but I don't know how I'll look in it so..." You trail off and Peter turns to squeeze between you and some other kids,
"I'm sure you'll look perfect." He says. You look up at him, smiling gently,
"Thank you Peter." You reply, holding your hand out for your book as you pause in front of your fourth period class. He smiles and hands it over,
"You're welcome. Uhm... we should hang out around here before Sunday. We could like, sit together at lunch or something, I dunno. I just feel like we shouldn't be strangers." He elaborates. You nod,
"Yeah, sure, you have my number now." You say with a smile. He nods,
"Yeah, oh, I'll uhh... yeah, I'll shoot you a text." He replies with a goofy smile again. He reaches up to rub the back of his neck before you place your hand on his arm,
"Just text me Pete." You say almost in a coo that almost has Peter's legs giving out. But you don't see it as you turn into the classroom. Ned does, high fiving Peter again as they reconvene,
"Nice!" Ned says. Peter nods, big smile covering his face again,
"I know." He says in an almost gasp.
I'd like for you and I to go romancing
After you and Peter had spent Sunday together, you walked out closer than ever, the blue and white floral dress in your bag and the same color blue tie in his as well as a new pair of shoes, the both of you had stopped in at the floral shop to see if any of the corsages and boutonnieres matched you both and you enjoyed. But Pete had other plans.
The night he arrives at your house, he rings the bell, waiting with corsage and boutonniere in hand. When your mother answers, he flashes her a bright smile, letting her lead him inside and call for you. The second you come into sight, makeup and hair done up, dress and heels adorning your body, he's at a loss for words. You're beautiful beyond comparison, more than Peter's little heart can handle. His hands shake as you approach him,
"You look nice Peter." You say shyly. He nods, watching you stroke up his arm,
"Yeah, yeah, so do you- pretty I mean." He stutters, watching you smile. He holds the small, plastic container with his boutonniere out,
"You can uhm, you can pin that on me, and I'll put this in you." He explains, holding your corsage up. You smile and nod, pulling the pin out of the box as Peter follows suit, pulling your corsage out. Ge straightens up as you pin it on him, before he slides the ribbon over your hand and onto your wrist, taking hold of your fingers and smiling. You smile back up at him, your parents looking between the both of you. They know that look, and they know how genuine it is.
Say the word, your wish is my command
After a few pictures together, your parents and the both of you are climbing into your family's car and they're driving you to the school. Peter smiles at you across from the cupholder,
"We uhm- c-can we just like, hold hands a little bit?" He asks shyly, pursing his lips. You nod, placing your hand palm up on the armrest. He smiles down at it before lacing his fingers with yours, letting out a sigh. You smile, glancing out the window beside you as Peter runs his thumb over your knuckles, his heart calming now that your hand is in his. All this time, the two of you have thought the other didn't like each other. But now you've showed your true feelings to each other, you've expressed how you feel about the other and you're both excited to see this ride out. And all those girls that you thought Peter preferred over you, they were long gone from his mind.
Pulling up in front of the school, you and Peter climb out, him guiding you with one of your hands in the arch of his elbow. You smile at each other, being the only ones other than Ned and your best friend that know the both of you are going together. Walking up the steps, the music matches your dual heartbeats, the both if you taking a deep breath as Peter reaches for the door. He holds it open for you, following you inside, fixing his jacket. Once you both find your melded group of friends, they drag you to get punch, and then out to the dance floor.
Ooh love, Ooh lover boy
Pete can't take his eyes or his hands off of you. Sometimes you're holding hands, moving them back and forth, or they're placed at your lower back, your arms around his neck as you slow dance every so often. But if he and Ned escape to your table to sip at their drinks and take a break, his eyes are still locked on you.
"How are things with you both? You've been spending a lot of time together." Ned asks. Peter nods with a smile as he sips at his punch,
"She's great. God she's great. Yeah, that time at the mall was well spent. We held hands on the way here." Peter tells Ned with a cocky smile. Ned's mouth hangs open,
"That's amazing." Peter nods, looking around,
"Yeah. And I think at the end of the night, I wanna pull her in really close and kiss her. Or try to. But if she isn't into it-"
"You'll know." Ned says. Peter nods,
"Yeah, I'll know and I won't try." They share another nod before they're drug back out to the dance floor by you and Betty, Peter's hands held in yours by your hips.
What’re you doing tonight? Hey boy
When you let them go, but don't turn back to him, he places them over your hips. You don't move away and it spikes Peter's confidence, his hips swaying in tandem with yours. You lean back a few times to sing to him, your heartbeats having calmed now that you're comfortable being together. Peter loves holding you, and you love being held. Your friends think its adorable and people outside your group seem to admire how you look together.
After a few more songs, it's you and Peter that escape to the table, Peter watching you stare out over the crowd over the rim of his cup. He sets his cup down rubbing his lips on the back of his hand,
"Are you having fun?" He asks, almost inaudable over the music. You glance at him and nod and even despite your slightly smudged makeup, you look beautiful to him,
"I'm having an amazing time. I'm glad I asked you. And I'm glad we came." You reply. He smiles, nodding and looking down into his cup,
"Me too. I'm having a great time... with you." He says sweetly. You smile and set your own empty cup down. You take a step forward and fix the crooked boutonniere, a loving smile on Peter's face.
Write my letter, feel much better
When the DJ announces that the last song of the night is the next slow song, you and Peter stare at each other for a moment before he swallows and holds his hand out,
"Let's do it. Hopefully this'll be the one we remember." He says. You smile and nod, taking his hand and following him not back to your friends, but just onto the dance floor again, his hands at your lower back again, yours around his neck again. He breathes into you, eyes looking past you, around at those on the dance floor. He wants to remember all of this if you agree to kiss him. When he feels your fingers in the hair at the nape of his neck, he glances down at you. You cock your head,
"What's on your mind?" He smiles before shaking his head. He could tell you. He could ruin the surprise. The hand holding was welcomed and he wants to keep the kiss a secret. Just in case.
"Nothing much. I just want to remember this. Its nice." He half lies. But you eat it up as you look around, your eyes sparkling in the string lights that provide the only light. You nod,
"It really is. I've loved tonight." You tell him. He agrees. He licks his lips, looking down at yours. When you look back to him, you catch him staring at your lips, smiling to yourself,
"I think I know what you're thinking." You say slyly. He clicks his tongue, playing it off,
"Now I am." He jokes. You giggle. The song nears its end and Peter knows he has to make the move. You didn't verbalize a denial. And when you look back at him, he knows you want him to take the jump.
I’ll use my fancy patter on the telephone
The want sparkles in your eyes and Peter licks his lips again, ready to take the initiative. As the song begins to end, you both stop dancing. Pete leans in, giving you enough time to back away before the reassuring hand on his cheek and onto his neck guides his lips to yours. Its sweet and for a moment, the both of your hearts stop. Pressed chest to chest, his hands holding you tight by the dress you wear, your hands in his hair and splayed across his face, your lips work together softly, not rushed or impatient, just passionate and long overdue. He sighs into your mouth and you pull back just slightly.
He gives you one more quick before pulling back almost completely to stand straight, but still remain holding you. One of your hands stays at his neck, the other on his chest as you sway again. He chuckles,
"I like it. I like us." He says. You nod, smiling big with your heart thundering all over again. Pete likes you and you like him. This is working out and it's the best thing that's happened to you. For once, your crush has returned the feeling and he feels the same. The world has aligned you both perfectly and its magical. Once the song ends, the both of you separate, but you hold pinkies, his suit jacket finding it's way to your shoulders as you wait outside for your parents. And soon enough, his arm is around your shoulders. Oh yeah, this is gonna work out beautifully.

As I sat here at @diamici.pizzaemcasa in Belem, Portugal, I thought, "Is this the best pizza I've ever had?" The pizza is that great! Plus, the staff is incredible and charming. If you visit Lisbon, make your way to quite possibly the best slice of pizza you'll ever have. For more of my adventures to Lisbon, read my article over on @fanbasepress.
