Note
if the flash didn’t happen, I imagine Geese having a wattpad to further send his “murder confession” poems but to then only become popular on there because everyone thought his poems were about something else

Columbia Lake, BC (No. 2)
Nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains 50 miles north of Cranbrook and filling a nine-mile gash in the Rocky Mountain Trench, lies the often rippled waters of Columbia Lake, source of the mighty Columbia River that empties in the Pacific Ocean more than 1,200 miles downstream.
David Thompson, the great explorer of western North America, was so smitten with the beauty of the still largely pristine lake that he wrote in his journal “I could never pass this singular place without admiring its situation and romantic bold scenery.”
Lined by clay banks covered with mixed stands of Ponderosa Pine, dry-belt Douglas fir and Golden Western Larch, Columbia Lake remains a beauty spot as Thompson found it.
The small hamlet of Canal Flats lies at its south end. Recreational homes are beginning to spring up on the grassy benches of the west shore, but the largely unroaded east shore remains pristine and is a prime grazing area for Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, elk and mule deer.
Waterfowl are plentiful including Canada geese, several species of ducks and blue-listed species such as the Great Blue Heron. The lake is also an important stop on the Pacific Flyway, a key migratory route for waterfowl.
Despite its easy accessibility, Columbia Lake is not heavily used and the largely pristine east shore offers a near wilderness experience. Recreational information is easily obtained from the various tourism offices in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Invermere and the Tourism BC website. The lake always freezes in winter and with the steady winds and light snowfall is a popular spot for ice fishing and ice boat racing.

By Jacob M. Thompson November 21, 2024
Could lockdowns return because of purported cases of avian influenza spreading across the United States?
Well, that’s what mainstream media would have people to the believe. As both zoonotic and human cases continue to climb, the media and other cited health ‘experts’ are sounding the alarm that a full-blown bird flu pandemic is nearing the horizon.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claim as of Monday, November 18th, 53 Americans have been infected with bird flu, the majority of them reportedly coming from California.
15 states are now reported to have some sort of bird flu outbreak in cows, and 49 states with an outbreak in poultry. As of the 19th, over 108,412,000 poultry have been affected.
Hawaii is reportedly the latest state to purportedly have bird flu. Ducks and geese dwelling on a backyard farm on the island of Oahu reportedly tested positive for the virus. Susan Wilkinson, who had all of her rescue birds culled as per protocol, posted a sorrowful message on Instagram warning others to take this seriously.
I don’t want this to happen to anybody else. If you live on Oahu or any of the islands, I need you to take this seriously. This is not a government conspiracy, it is not a joke, it is so bad, it is so bad.  Please quarantine everything, please bleach down everything, be so extra cautious, because this disease comes quick and fast. She tearfully warned.
Oregon also reported its first human case of bird flu last week.
Just over a week ago, a child was hospitalized in Canada – the country’s first confirmed case of the disease – and was in severe condition.

#2421 - Chamaesipho sp.
Tumblr media
Barnacles belong to the subclass Cirripedia, a name derived from the Latin for "curly foot" alluding to the animal's curved legs. The common name barnacle derives from Old French bernaque and medieval Latin bernacae or berneka, but the word actually referred to the barnacle goose Branta leucopsis, because of a belief that goose barncles were the infant stage of the bird. Not, in fact, as deranged as it sounds, given nobody in Europe knew where barnacle geese came from every year, and driftwood covered in goose barnacles did vaguely resemble trees covered in weird long-necked fruit.
By the 1580s the word was being applied to the crustaceans instead. Not that anybody suspected they were actually crustaceans until 1830, when John Vaughan Thompson studied the metamorphosis of their larvae. Between 1846 and 1954 Charles Darwin worked on the group so intensely "that his son assumed all fathers behaved the same way: when visiting a friend he asked, 'Where does your father do his barnacles?'" Upon the conclusion of his research, Darwin declared "I hate a barnacle as no man ever did before."
Barnacles are usually filter-feeding marine crustaceans, although some are highly modified parasites - one genus embeds itself in the spine of deep-sea sharks. Acorn-type barnacles like Chamaesipho glue themselves to the substrate by their foreheads, grow calcereous plates for protection, and spend the rest of their lives kicking plankton into their mouth. They're also famous for their incredibly long penises, that they need to reach their neighbours.
Gooose barnacles and some larger species of acorn barnacle are collected for food. Species growing on the hulls of ships are serious fouling organisms.
Chamaesipho is a genus of Chthamalid barnacles found in Australian and Aotearoan temperate waters, with three extant species and one extinct. They are usually  intertidal in preference, and tend to form crowded columnar colonies. Other genera in the Chthamalidae are found in all oceans except the Arctic Ocean, in temperate and tropical zone.

[TXT;;] ↪THOMPSON ✉︎ ???: I believe you do indeed have the incorrect number.
And the businessman had just about every intention of leaving it at that. And yet...
[TXT;;] ↪THOMPSON ✉︎ ???: My experience with geese is limited, but don't they bite?
[TXT;;] ↪THOMPSON ✉︎ ???: I can't say that's worth a funny picture or two.
