Wanted to say Glaze 2.0 is AMAZING.
What took 30 mins+ before, took me THREE MINUTES last night. WITH my other programs still running.
For folks who tried Glaze but haven't been using it due to glazing time, give 2.0 a chance!
I've heard that other folks have had it taking the same time/longer, but the quality is so much better. Your settings will determine the outcome, but it's definitely a huge improvement over the initial release version.
This update was super sexy of the Glaze Project. You can download the updated version from their site HERE!
(You should also use in conjunction with Nightshade!)

hey just wanted to say that if that tumblr partnership with midjourney thing goes through, I will stop posting here entirely. I'm also considering deleting my blog. I know this doesn't remove my data from the site due to reblogs. I also understand that my data exists outside of this site too, and that it can't really be deleted. I know how this shit works. it's the principle of the thing. I deleted my instagram and deviantart accounts for the same reason. I'd say find me on bluesky, but it's only a matter of time before they pull that shit too. the era of the free and open internet is coming to an end.

One thing I hear a lot when I make my stance known on genAI is "Surely there are ways AI could help writers, though."
Yes! Absolutely! I do not argue that at all! It could help with speeding up research for historical pieces, for example.
However. If I had that resource available to me, I would still only use it if I knew that the experts whose research was being used had opted in and been properly compensated. Even ease of accurate research to improve my own writing could not compel me to use stolen work.
That's the thing at the core of all this. Even legitimate usefulness that aids my creativity is of no interest to me if it's unethical. I'm not gonna haggle with you over how useful to me something has to be to justify theft.

I know that there's a high chance that 'pro GenAI' folk who come on my blog are probably on the wind up, but it will honestly wreck havoc throughout the entertainment industry. But not really for the reason you think.
We're going to see the limits of this technology reached pretty soon, the cost of resources for the CPU/GPUs required, and the cost of energy will spike and this will bleed AI companies dry. Most of them are hemorrhaging money, only propped up by the silicon valley venture capitalists and tech megacorps that have invested in them. They will expect a return at some point and producing 60 seconds of nonsense footage isn't going to turn this into a trillion dollar industry.
Where this hits the entertainment industry, as we've already seen with games industry layoffs, is that there's a whole bunch of generational talent being purged because these companies are swept up in techbro hype.
Making whole teams and studios of talented people redundant and injecting a new work culture tied to GenAI will hit the entertainment industry massively. When the realisation hits that GenAI isn't going to replace human creativity, and there's no cultivated talent in the industry, we'll be hitting the reset button.
I do genuinely wonder what these techbro types will do when we hit 2027 and the quality of games has dipped massively. Or maybe they just don't care.

it's so funny how people who claim to care about workers' rights sneer at the idea of artists getting paid for drawing ridiculous/absurd ideas
rights for workers until it's time for them to get paid for drawing gay sex cats, then suddenly their jobs should get automated and "who cares, it's just a drawing of cats spelling out gay sex"

i think the palworld thing is really interesting- because so far, there's no proof that the company used AI to make their mons
the real reason everyone is up in arms is because of the plagiarism thing, and like, idk, genuinely, do we care?
like does it matter?
it's game freak, they'll walk it off. people who like pokemons like them mostly out of brand loyalty. they like pokemons because they're pokemons, they don't just like cute monsters.
i'm sorry but i think it's fine if you want to make a game where legally distinct pikachu kills people with a 1911. i don't actually give a shit. like litterally why are we defending Pokemons, they're fine, they can shoot lasers and whatnot.
plagiarism matters when people are harmed. game freak is not people, and frankly, I don't think any of this will harm them.
one thing you can and should call palworld, however, is derivative. it lacks any sort of imagination. wether AI or not was used matters little: it's definitely just trying to make Content with a snappy concept and that's it. it's not worth your time not because of the tools that MIGHT have been used to make it, but because even if each of these mons had been painstakingly designed by hand with a graphite pencil, they'd still just be trying to ape pokemons. the intent would be the same regardless.
Pocketpair isn't the next Sommerton.

She's finished! I'm going to judge this one... Not bad for a first try.
It's very common for me to visualize an idea in my head and think "that's cool, wish I could do it" but rarely do I have all the skills to make it so. 2023 was the year I decided not to let that stop me any more! I spent three months learning some inking techniques, sketched dozens of practice portraits, and learned the basics of working with water colors to produce this embroidered portrait of Karlach.
She may not be perfect but she's unique and she's mine and I love her ❤️‍🔥
