i'm going to call this post book!gendrya for dummies (it's me i'm the dummy): i had always loved the parallel that gendrya share about being the third born child (we are five books in, and still to this moment we don't have another baratheon bastard introduced to us that's older than gendry, so the order for me is: mya, bella and gendry) and (if we go with the r+l=j theory, jon obviously is not ned's son... so we have robb, sansa and arya) but something that has never ocurred to me before, is that we obviously already know the plot point of "the seed is strong" and we have gendry directly telling ned how his mother used to have yellow/blond hair (this is my own headcanon, but i like to think that she had brown eyes as well) meaning that all children sired by robert baratheon shared his hair colour and eyes colour, so gendry in his colouring and looks does not resemble at all his mother and we know exactly the same thing about arya, how of all of the catelyn tully/stark's children, she's is the only one that has none of her mother's looks, she and jon had the stark look, long face and grey eyes, like her father (and jon's mother) and like all of the starks of old time (karstarks included), and meanwhile genetics in asoiaf had always been somehow really wonky if compared to how genetics work in real life, it always interested me this fact about arya, one could simply said that arya having stark's looks and colouring is to help the narrative of arya feeling like an outsider in her own family, just like jon, and to establish even more how deeply the jon/arya bond runs, even when she knows both of her parents, and it's a true-born daughter. so this post was me discovering another gendrya parallel shared between them, i don't think it's really important but hey, it's still there alright

my favorite thing about a potential loki, wanda, and stephen chaos team mash-up headcanon is that people always paint stephen as the brain of the operation, the one that will keep the other two in line, when the man literally casted a complex memory spell that had the potential to wreak havoc on the multiverse because a teenager asked him to, all without asking any further questions. like, in his first movie the man literally tried to use a time-altering spell without reading the entire instructions and warnings!he has no more impulse control than the others do, he's just such a control freak about magic that it makes it look like he does. the man's a mess.

I had a headcanon session with some anons a few years ago about how the Strix plot in TO would've been such a cool plot to bring Caroline in with. It's an idea I got because we were complaining about how we wished the TVD Augustine plot would've been Caroline's instead of Elena's. It was a society basically that tied back to idk if both her parents or just her dad, but basically he knew about vampire's and what not??

Now Bill when he found out Caroline was a vampire, legitimately believed he could get her to stop feeding on blood completely??? I can't remember if he said he'd seen it be done but he did for sure think it was possible and seemed to know how to go about it. Also he knew how to resist compulsion! The Strix, was a elitist vamp society basically that Elijah founded and who the first vampire he sired was in charge of when we meet him. And theeeey had a guy in there who only fed on the blood of enemies he beat in a fight??? And they said it'd been decades since he fed by that point. Plus, Tristan also knew how to resist compulsion. SO we created a little headcanon plot nugget of if the Srix are where Bill learned that from and wouldn't it have been neat if they knew who Caroline was.

So I've always wanted to write that canon divergence of TO with an addition of Klaroline ofc. But I would need to rewatch TO to do and it eughhhh, I don't wannaaaaaa lmao. I'd love to try and write it one day though!

I have a headcanon that Arya and Gendry had like four kids (sansa and Jon were probably like wtf) and they had three boys and then a girl. The oldest and youngest have the Baratheon look, while the middle kids have the Stark look.

I even tried coming up with names lmao so these are the names:

• Robb

• Eddard

• Can’t think of a third boy name any ideas lmao

• Shireen (because my girl needs to be honoured)

Shireen wants to work as a blacksmith like Gendry (I bet even though he’s now a lord he still sneaks away to be in the forge lol) so I can just imagine her as a little girl trying to join her dad in the forge.

💘 gendrya in a relationship headcanons 💘

right off the bat, let me say that there’s a post on here (and i do not remember who wrote it, so my apologies) that says that gendrya are a ‘peeing with the bathroom door open’ kind of couple, and nothing has ever made more sense to me 

(i am not taking credit for that headcanon, but i hold it near and dear to my heart)

i don’t think they know when their anniversary is. or if they do celebrate an anniversary, they can never agree on when it should be, so they have multiple 

i think they both wake up around the same time, but gendry almost always falls asleep first. especially if they’re watching a movie on the couch. poor boy can’t stay awake during a movie to save his life

please, everyone, repeat after me - gendrya are not a pet name couple. any pet names (except probably ‘love’) are used ironically

arya’s main love language is words of affirmation, and gendry is not the greatest at that all the time, but he tries his best. luckily for him, arya’s other main love language is ‘gendry trying his best’

gendry’s main love language - as someone who grew up having to do a lot of things for himself - is acts of service

(both are v heavy on the physical touch as well, obviously)

for the absolute blessed life of him, gendry does not understand why his girlfriend likes flowers so much. why bring flowers inside, when they belong outside. but damnit if he doesn’t bring home a bouquet every saturday when he stops by the farmer’s market after brunch w his foster parents

semi on that subject, and this is barely a relationship headcanon, but gendry is definitely The Guy That Loves His Lawn. everyone knows that guy, right? he’s like, 1000% that guy that’s like ‘thank god it’s raining, we needed it’

don’t know why, but i feel like they have matching bathrobes, which arya thinks is hilarious, and gendry quietly enjoys 

they are definitely not ‘that couple’ in terms of overt/annoying PDA, but they do both still absentmindedly play with each other’s hair in public 

they own a step-stool so that arya can reach things on high shelves, but they rarely use it bc she prefers to precariously climb furniture

it often results in her being physically lifted by gendry, who cannot bear to watch her almost hurt herself on a daily basis

arya has thousands of pictures/videos on her phone, and a good number (but not all) of them are of gendry/the two of them goofing around/their home/their dates/etc.

gendry has like four pictures on his (very outdated) phone and they are only of arya

one of my favorite headcanons (both asoiaf-verse and modern) is that gendry can sing (something he gets from his biological mother), and he's self-conscious about it with everyone except arya. they have a vast catalogue of car duets 

all of the tall boy/short girl headcanons. gendry using arya’s head as an armrest, mostly. she is not partial to this 

generally not much ‘traditional’ relationship stuff, but i like thinking about gendry telling jon he wants to marry arya. not even that he plans to propose, just like ... ‘yeah, it’s gonna happen at some point, just so you know.’ and jon is like lol you silly goose. duh

growing up/as kids, gendry usually just read the books that arya liked, so he would know what the f she was talking about. but then he slowly starts to actually enjoy reading, as he gets older. so their home is filled to the brim with books :’)

“you’re on my list” “marriage or hit?” “yes”

and lastly (otherwise, i will go on and on and on), & perhaps the most cliché of all - 

if arya is home, she is wearing one of gendry’s shirts/hoodies, ten out of ten times

How to imagine the Starks, but mostly Caitlyn would react to walking in on Arya and Gendry?

I'm assuming you mean they didn't know about them when they walk in on them.

So, I know there's like a thousand different takes on this and I'm not gonna repeat all of them here. But I do wanna say that, at least in modern AUs, I don't see any of Arya's brothers reacting quite as strongly as is often done in fics. I've never gotten the whole overly protective big brother mind set.

Being overprotective just because their baby sister has a boyfriend seems a bit too much to me. It'd be a different situation if Gendry hurt her. Then all hell would break loose.

I imagine Cat would be a bit embarassed like you are when you walk in on one of your children in a situation like that. She wouldn’t be too surprised, because even though Gendrya were best friends, everyone knew they’d end up together. She’d simplay say “ oops, sorry” and close the door again, being surprised that she hadn’t noticed it had happened already.

Does that make sense?

Davos and Sandor having to interact constantly because their adoptive children have inherited a kingdom would be hilarious. Sandor glaring threateningly at anyone who has a problem with Arya taking over the training of the guards/small folk. Davos trying to drag Gendry out of the forge because he needs to practice his letters and can’t just “let Arya make all the decisions, I don’t care if she has better judgement, Lad, you have to at least pretend like you’re the Lord Paramount of the Stormlands”.

Davos and Sandor become grandparents when Arya and Gendry start adopting orphans left right and center. Davos and Sandor getting drunk together after their idiot children almost cause a political incident. Davos and Sandor being too old for this shit but refusing to retire because parents just don’t do that.

But also:

Sandor threatening to shove his sword up the ass of some stupid lord who talks shit about Gendry being the Lord of Storm’s End. Davos reassuring Arya when she has moments of insecurity about her ability to parent. Sandor and Davos being proud parents when the Stormlands finally begins to flourish and everyone benefits from it, not just the nobles.

i heavily dislike when people depict arya hitting gendry in anger when they are reunited with eachother, other than feeding into the feral(she's too far gone)!arya headcanon that this fandom loves, it does not makes sense at all, from the end of agot we can see that arya is developing abandonment issues, that they get stronger and stronger during acok and lastly asos, that's why when gendry takes the decision to stay with the bwb and make a living out of it, arya is not mad, (sure she lashes out in telling gendry that it does not matter to her if he gets hanged due to now being an outlaw) but that is her hurt feelings speaking, she's deeply hurt that another person she considered a close friend is choosing to leave her, this ties with arya's class blindness but i digress, and it's deeply connected to arya's low self-esteem issues, her thinking how she's not good enough for people to actually want her in their life. and that's one of the saddest things about gendrya misunderstanding eachother, we know how much arya's kidnapping affected gendry, how much he has changed, and the brotherhood too, he's doing things that arya would have done/wanted (taking care of orphans) and (meeting her mother and working under her house) when he wasn't sure about them in the first place, he joined the brotherhood because he witnessed them holding a fair trial and most importantly the bwb wanted to help the smallfolk caught in a war-torn country, and he's actually class conscious, gendry knows that his friendship with a northern princess will never be accepted, and all around them indicates that their friendship has run it's course (nevermind they were literally getting jealous about eachother) and exactly at the other side we have arya thinking how everything it's her own fault, and she thinks herself stupid for even trusting gendry and hotpie when it was clear that they never wanted her as a friend in the first place... so with all of this context in the background: why would arya be mad and hit gendry when they finally meet again? i'm not saying that i want them to be the bestest of friends when they see eachother again, they clearly have issues to work on, and honestly i don't see arya considering gendry as trustworthy from the get go like they once were, but after sometime in eachothers company again, i can see them sharing a hug

Thank you so much for your kind words! But the truth is that behind this future au there is no structured headcanon. It's more a set of fragments that make me happy and so I draw them.

I can tell you that Bran is king, he's married to Meera, and Jon has Mance's cloak in his closet... You are free to fill in the blanks as you prefer!

How many children? How soon? How are Arya and Gendry as parents? What’s a pregnant Arya like? Everyone seems to make her bitchy when she’s pregnant -but I’ve always thought this was a person who was enslaved, starved, beaten when she was a child -swollen ankles and a sore back don’t seem that awful. Plus, as an assassin, she’s been trained to repress feelings. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see her being that vocal.

In my mind they will have two children, a girl and a boy (twins obvs). The girl will be the next Queen in the North and the boy will be the next lord of Storm’s End. My personal headcanon is that Arya was pregnant when she left Westeros and that’s what will make her return, because there’s no way my girl won’t turn the ship around once she discovers she is pregnant, she would never keep her pregnancy a secret from Gendry.

Arya and Gendry are amazing parents. Arya is a very loving mother, she tries not to be too overprotective but she can’t help it, she doesn’t want anything bad happen to her children. She teaches them to fight and to defend themselves because life is hard and they need to learn how to survive, but she also loves playing with them and doing silly things. Gendry is very soft as a father. He loves spending time with his children and he is always reminding them how much he loves them because nobody ever said that to him, and he doesn’t want them to grow up having the same insecurities he had when he was a child.

Just like you, I can’t picture Arya as bitchy while pregnant. Like you say, this is a person who has suffered a lot since she was a child. She is literally used to physical pain and she is very strong. She was stabbed multiple times, beaten, suffered like five or six concussions in two weeks—she is bulletproof!

I like to imagine Arya is one of those women who enjoys talking to her baby bump. She still has trouble sleeping at night so she gently caresses her bump and tells her baby stories about her heroes and the things she lived in the war. She is scared something bad will happen to the baby so she is extra careful while pregnant, but not to the point of not doing anything. Although having a kid thrills her, a part of her is worried she won’t be able to protect her child from all the terrible things in the world. She knows she won’t be around forever and she doesn’t want her kid to grow up without a mother or a father like her. However, Gendry calms her down by telling her there’s no reason to believe their kid will suffer her same fate, and that they will make sure the child feels loved and protected since day one.

Gendrya headcanon

In the future Arya still has a list, but instead of going over it just before she goes to sleep she does it just after she wakes up, before she even opens her eyes. The list is short, but instead of crossing the names off it, she only adds the next little one's, and the last name on the list is always Gendry's.

Arya Stark still has a list, but now it's a list of people she will do anything to keep alive.
