i’ll write a proper analysis about it one of these days but even after five years i am still kind of gobsmacked by just how much about hyness as a character is downright in bad taste, insensitive, or straight-up cruel stereotype. he genuinely mystifies me because like, the basic concept for this character is one that fits in seamlessly with the tone of the series overall: dark matter cultist who was ostracised for these beliefs and is now going on a roaring rampage of revenge about it. this is a pretty cut-and-dry parallel to the original “motivations” of dark matter (inasmuch as shimomura ever gave them any) - “i don’t have friends, so no-one can have friends”.
but the execution, holy shit. it’s bad. it’s really bad. it’s bad from so many angles - cultural, religious, health. we’ve had characters in the series before who were “poorly written”, which usually just means “meh, there isn’t really that much to work with for this character”, and the series is no stranger to edginess - see dark matter, which inspired hyness as a character in the first place - but hyness is just a bridge too far. his presentation and design almost feels malicious at some points.
this kind of feels like it springs from a thing i’ve mentioned a few times before, which is that kumazaki really needs someone standing by his side ready to slap his wrist every so often during the writing process. he is without doubt the best director the series has seen, and thanks to him we’ve gotten some amazing games with amazing stories and lore developments, but star allies demonstrated to us that he also kind of goes mad with power sometimes and creates a mess LOL
this isn’t even me being uncharitable or anything, it’s straight from the horse’s mouth. there are interviews about FL talking about how the team made the conscious decision to tell a much simpler story with FL after seeing how much confusion SA caused (and also, because of the same, choosing to have a much more stringent localisation process).
unfortunately, it feels like sometimes kumazaki - or any of the other writers, i’m only pointing out kumazaki so much here because it seems to be mostly him - wants to include some topics and themes that are just a bit of a stretch for what’s appropriate in a kirby game, and hyness is the chief example of this.
and it sucks! it sucks a lot! more dark matter rep and SPECIFICALLY a dark matter cult is something the fanbase has been slavering for for decades! i love hyness and what he represents in the story but BOY HOWDY DO I NOT LOVE HOW HE WAS DELIVERED.
#kirby#also man do people know that hyness is canonically a dark matter cultist? i feel like that's not as common knowledge as i think it is#the english version did questionable things to his rant which is of course where 90% of his lore is#idk it's been so long since star allies and it still causes everyone a headache#there are a couple other writing choices that i think aren't TOTALLY in line with The General Kirby Tone from kuma but they're nowhere near#as egregious as hyness

An intro to doing crosswords for complete beginners
as told by someone who didn’t do any before this year and now has gotten so deeply into them
with examples pulled almost entirely from crosswords published in American publications this week
A crossword is not a measure of general knowledge or intelligence or skill with words anymore than a Mario game is a measure of how good you are at plumbing. It certainly helps to have the same cultural reference points as the puzzle, but you can brute force your way through a lot of it if you just know how crosswords work
Easiest on Mondays and then get harder over the week
The answer is in the same verb tense as the clue (ex. “doesn’t float” is “SINKS” while “didn’t float” is “SANK”)
If there’s an acronym or abbreviation in the clue, the answer will have one as well (ex. “Toothpaste-approving org.” is “ADA” because that the short way of referring to the American Dental Association)
If the answer is in written like a text from a teen girl with her first flip phone, the answer will be a common texting abbreviation (TMI, OMG, LOL, LMAO, BRB, TTYL, etc) (ex. three letter word with clue “i can’t believe u told me that” is “TMI”)
If the clue is in quotes, it’s dialogue and the response should also be dialogue (ex. the clue “‘That’s it for me!’” is “IQUIT”)
An answer can be multiple words, (see above) so some correct answers can make you second guess yourself because it creates letter combos that seem impossible to be in one English (mostly) word or mess you up bc it’s ambiguous where one word ends and another begins (ex. you have the letters “OWFO” and the answer ends up being “PILLOWFORT” or “UDAT” being “BERMUDATRIANGLE”)
Treat clues with a question mark like they’re going to be puns that make you groan so think about other meanings of the words in the clue (ex. “Volumes you can hear?” is “AUDIOBOOKS” or “Not fancy at all?” is “HATE” or “Remained under cover?” is “SLEPTIN”)
Clues that add hedging language line “they could be called…” or one might use this as…” are telling you to think very laterally. These are the ones that make you a little mad when you get them (ex. “They might be said to be dancing or raging” is “FLAMES” or “They admit they might be punched” is “TICKETS”)
The word “maybe” usually indicates the answer will be an example of the clue, not a synonym (ex. “Pet, maybe” is “CAT”)
If a person is in the clue and a person is the answer, the answer will be from the same part of name as the clue (ex. Trevor Noah replaced John Stewart on the Daily Show. So the clue “Stewart’s successor on the Daily Show” is “NOAH” while “John’s successor on the Daily Show” would be “TREVOR”
No word in the clue will be featured in the answer (ex. “What Beyoncé Knowles goes by” could be “ONENAME” but could never be “BEYONCÉ”)
A answer can be a phonetic spelling of a letter (ex. “Epic finale?” is “CEE”)
Not every clue is going to be tricky and clever, don’t rule out an obvious choice just because it’s obvious (ex. “Do ___ disturb” is “NOT”)
Roman numerals pop up a lot but typically only in clues where a Roman numeral makes sense, so “finale of a play?” could be “ACTII” but “Number of Stooges” is not going to be “III”
There’s a ton of really common clues. If you do enough crossword puzzles you recognize them. (ex. Literally almost anything about oil is going to be OPEC, any variations on “things on a smartphone that someone can download and use” is going to be “APPS”, and anything about a european capital city is probably “OSLO”)
If a clue can be about a cookie, the answer is almost certainly “OREO”

Okay, concept:
Luo Binghe grew up very poor prior to arriving to QJP. And when he first got to QJP, he was ostracized and neglected. So there are probably a lot of phrases, terms, and ideas that he didn't know were things until SY arrived and started actually teaching him. Right? So the bulk of what he did learn, he learned directly from Shen Yuan's own slightly messy attempts to fake ancient scholarly credentials.
Plus, QJP is supposed to be the peak of scholars and well-read, fancy intellectuals, and YQY probably also doesn't know shit about most of that stuff (having also been a former illiterate street child) and of course is incredibly predisposed to take Shen Qingqiu's side on virtually anything. Especially something frivolous or linked to their shared past, such as someone, say Qi Qingqi, accusing Shen Qingqiu of making up a literary reference or "gibberish" word. If something Shen Qingqiu says is something no one else seems to know, that just proves he's more worldly and well-read than the rest of his peers. Also, Shang Qinghua will probably know it, and despite his many (many) character flaws, Shang Qinghua reads a lot too. There's really very little to convince a former street child turned Demon Emperor whose former education began and ended with Shen Qingqiu specifically and Meng Mo (wildly out-of-touch with human culture anyway) to suspect that some of the difficult-to-source references his master makes really have no worldly source (in this world).
So Luo Binghe, in his quest to become as knowledgeable of all things about his shizun and keep up with him as well as possible, and maybe also put down some arguments he's overheard once and for all, eventually gets annoyed because CLEARLY there is a wealth of cultural knowledge contemporary to Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghua that didn't survive to his own generation. His efforts at hunting down all the sources being referenced and origins of certain philosophical ideas or terminology keep coming up empty in certain departments. He's been over the entire QJP library with a fine-tooth comb, but QJP focuses on things pertaining to cultivation, history, and knowledge. Obviously, there are gaps. The archives are unlikely to keep pop cultural references and lowbrow literature, and Luo Binghe begins to suspect (from what tastes his master seems to share with his shishu) that that is that actual source he's missing.
The trashy yellow books and romance literature of their generation! Bawdy poems and lewd artworks so on! Heck, that's probably even where the shared "code" (bad English) comes into play -- disciples are always trying to sneak forbidden material past their teachers and smuggle naughty books into the dormitories. Knowing Shizun and Shang Qinghua, Luo Binghe honestly wouldn't be surprised if the two of them were racketeering that shit in their own disciple days. Shang Qinghua acquiring materials, Shen Qingqiu acquiring buyers, both of them making their extra spending money off of secretly supplying Cang Qiong's population with contraband fiction and art.
Also, that would explain why both Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghua get flustered and refuse to elaborate if someone asks them what this or that strange turn of phrase refers to. Shen Qingqiu has a very thin face for actually discussing erotica, and Shang Qinghua doesn't like being caught doing illegal shit.
Luo Binghe desperately needs access to trash lit that's older than he is. However, most of that stuff is not printed to last, and turning it up is like trying to find old Spirk zines without the internet.
Shang Qinghua, the obvious go-to source, also seems to not really have anything that old anymore (intimidating him is laughably easy, if he had anything he would have coughed it up by the second or third time Luo Binghe asked and frowned at the same time), and if Shen Qingqiu did have anything he wouldn't want to be questioned about it. Asking too much might even get it destroyed in an act of excessive embarrassment.
Which means there is just one other person Luo Binghe knows who might be able to lead him to some sources. One other person he is absolutely, 100% certain was extensively reading trashy literature around the same time that Shizun was a young man. Someone who would know where to go to even begin looking for it.
Luo Binghe is going to have to ask Tianlang Jun for help with something.

How did magicians back in the day make seals? Was there a science behind it or was it intuitive?
That's a really good question! The answer is extremely complicated!
When most people these days think of seals they think of goetic seals. But the terminology of "seals" actually comes from the idea of sealing a letter. Specifically, it refers to one of the many apocryphal versions of the story of Solomon and Ashmedai, in which king Solomon uses a signet ring with a special magical symbol on it to command demons.
Now, this is one of those biblical stories that people went absolutely nuts for. Jews, Christians, Muslims, damn near every abrahamic faith has their own take on the story, because let's be honest here it's cool as fuck.
But! The original story from the Tanakh doesn't refer to the seal at all, and focuses much more on controlling the sheyd with manacles inscribed with a secret name of God. The inherent magical power of names of God is a common trope in Jewish literature, but later versions of the tale also include greco-egyptian ideas about the inherent magical properties of language, forms, and mathematics.
So when we look at a contemporary English version of a goetic seal, we are looking at something with literally thousands of years of compiled knowledge behind it. I wouldn't necessarily call it science, or intuition, I would describe it as systematic, and narrative. Closer to how campfire stories are improved over generations as people tell and retell them.
Look at this seal of Belial:

The idea of the seal itself? That goes back to Babylonian Jewish ideas about written text having power to control supernatural entities. (Google Babylonian curse bowls if you haven't already.)
See how the letters are spaced? That's important. That goes back to neopythagorean ideas about regular polygons being fundamental building blocks of the universe.
The little crosses? Those are probably cruciforms! That's how you can tell Christians were involved at some point.
See how some of the lines of the seal end in little loops? That goes back to ptolmaic Egyptian ideas about magic. If the crosses are cruciforms, these are probably ankh-forms! You see shapes like that all over magical texts from the 2nd-6th century Mediterranean!
These symbols are the result of dozens of cultures and people and languages collectively yes-anding each other for literally thousands of years. They are DENSE with meaning.

Dynamic Trio of Love
Yandere Chaewon + Yunjin x Male Reader (smut)
You've probably read this if you followed my old blog, feel free to reread or renote.
smut tag: oral (m/f), riding, threesome, generic smut things
Word Count: 4151
It was a normal day at the Seraphim University, a prestigious university with a ridiculously low acceptance rate. Multiple stories of knowledge, the buildings felt modern. Clean cut angular walls, painted a angelic white and the windows were a oppositional black.
This was the second year you taught here and given its status it paid good enough. The students were okay. For the most part none of them asked questions after school as they were only here so they wouldn't lose their trust funds. The easiest way to get into the school was just to be rich, but you taught them all the same.
"Quiet down class!" You said, hand ruffling through your hair. Loud conversations immediately fell quiet, giving you the stage. You pulled up the power point as you began the lecture.
"So then class why does Mr Gatz use diminutives?" You asked, gesturing towards the awaiting class. The entire class kept their hand down, you never knew if it was out of apathy or confusion. But there was always that one student.
Huh Yun-jin, an elegant student. One of the few who came here to learn, transferring from Korea to come here. She was always attentive, hastefully writing down every word you uttered. Asking every question she had and answering every you had.
"Yes Yunjin." You replied to her awaiting hand, she beamed a bright smile as she begun to speak. "Because of their relationship, Gatsby is his son and he is showing his condolences." Her tone was straight, she spoke prim and proper as she clicked her pen.
"Correct Yunjin, as always." You smiled, turning back to the board as the lecture went on. You wrote notes on the board, these English lessons were always silent. The students acted dead, except Yunjin.
The class wound down and the students frantically dashed out, like prisoners being freed from their cage. Except Yunjin, who lingered near her desk. "Sir, I have a question." She queried. Her arms crossed together as she looked down, she was always shy everytime you saw her. "Yes, Yunjin." You replied.
"Do you think I'm pretty sir?" Her question caught you off guard. Saliva caught in your throat, violent coughs ripping out. "What?! That is highly inappropriate!" You reprimanded her, she put herself on the table. Legs parting slowly giving you vision of her underwear, you gulped. Why was she doing this? "I mean look at me Sir, you could have me right here." She probed.
You looked at her, breath hitching as you truly took notice of her appearance. The way her hair was done up in a neat ponytail, the way her outfits complimented her curves, how smooth her legs were as they were cut off by the skirt that was much shorter than you realized.
You felt guilty, blood rushing to your shaft. Hands gripped the table as you clung onto the wood, Yunjin was smirking. Walking towards you with a seductive stance, she popped out her leg and highlighted her ass. Daring you to give in, she was in front of you now. "I can promise you professor, you won't regret it." She whispered in your ear, teeth finding your lobe. Scraping against it while she bit, eliciting a forced moan from your lips. Her hand found your erect shaft, covered by the fabric which painfully constricted you.
You may have made the first mistake, but you won't make the second. You pushed her off you, her eyes scowling as her treat was ripped away. "I will ignore your blatant inappropriate conduct but you must leave now." You uttered, mere inches from jumping her bones and pounding her into the ground.
"Fine, professor. But I will warn you, I always get what I want." She growled, grabbing her bag and storming out the room. You were shaking, thoughts of her body nestled in your brain.
You left your classroom, heading to the bathroom. Relieving yourself into a tissue before getting ready to go home for the night. What the hell just happened?
-
"Ugh! I was so close!" Yunjin yelled, draped over the side of the couch. Head hanging against the carpeted floor, she was in her professors home. The one that she wasn't trying to jump, Chaewon. "He was rock solid! We nearly had our blackmail chae" She continued, ranting incessantly.
Chaewon was much more composed than her friend, infact she was the one to come up with the plan to blackmail him. "God, it's okay Yunjin." Chaewon comforted, she was laid on the ground. Licking a cherry flavored lollipop, formulating their next plan to get him where they wanted.
"Unless you have another fantastic idea!" Yunjin shouted, taking out her frustration on an u expecting pillow. Launching it across the room. The two of them were madly in love, an unexplainable connection bound you three. "I actually do" Chaewon chimed, picking up her phone. "What if we just isolated him?" She fiddled with her device. "I mean, he lives a reclusive life as it is. We can make it work."
They discussed their plan for hours, talking until the sun set with only one goal. Y/N will be theirs.
-
The week following your altercation with Yunjin were weird, colleagues you got along with simply no longer interacted. If you went near them they would move, it was weird. Even weirder they looked terrified, everyone except one person. Chaewon.
Chaewon was a very good friend to you, both teaching English meant you spent considerable time researching how to teach lessons effectively. Spending time in the break rooms creating lessons together. She stayed put and was now the only person you had to talk to.
"Chae, I wanna ask you something." You said, hunched over your pot of instant noodles. Her body stiffened strangely while she readjusted her top, which clung to her slim body very well. "Everybody has been avoiding me recently, like overnight. Did I do something?" Chaewon sat and thought for a second, taking an extremely long sip of her instant coffee. "I heard a few rumors, but I didn't buy it." Rumors? Did Yunjin spread lies? "What were the rumors?" You asked.
The warmth from the room suddenly faded, Chaewon didn't speak for awhile. The silence was chilling, heart beating against your chest. "They said you assaulted a guy who your girlfriend cheated on you with." Chaewon said plainly, sipping more coffee. Your head recoiled in shock, girlfriend? You wish, assault? You'd never.
The bell chimed, indicating you two had to teach. Chaewon downed her drink and got up to leave. "See you Y/N, just know I'm here." You smiled, there's at least one friend for you.
-
You laid down in your room, something you were very proud with its decoration. Positively you and a manifestation of your interests. The events of the day played through your head again and again, was your reputation on the line over lies? You spent your afternoon texting people, being left on delivered. There was always Chaewon, maybe she was free.
You shot her a simple message, "wassup chaewon I'm just wondering if you wanted to hang out I can come to yours just feeling a bit shaken lmk" You felt a bit pathetic, surprised when the message was immediately met with a response.
"yea come over bring alcohol xx" Well that sounds like a pretty solid night, you grabbed whatever alcohol you had from your last party and headed over to Chaewon's house, you've never been there before, unnecessary paranoia filled your head.
You knocked on her door, lugging a needless amount of alcohol up the stairs. Chaewon welcomed you in, she looked much different to her usual attire in the workplace. A thin white shirt with a black Metallica logo, the fabric was way too small. Exposing her toned stomach, she clearly exercised much more you did. She was wearing black booty shorts and no socks, did you catch her asleep?
You two sat on her couch, her living room radiated the Chaewon you knew. A few cans of lemon sparkling water laid on the tables, the cheap scent of vanilla wafted through the air. She had quite a few trinkets, a realistic plane laid on the shelves. "Sorry for not cleaning up, wasn't expecting company." Chaewon said, legs crossed on her couch as she grabbed a bottom of beer from your bag. "Nice brand, Mr money bags."
You sighed as you joined her in drinking, the disgusting taste of beer going down your throat. "Big fan of planes ay?" You said. Pointing out the various little figures all across the room, giggling a bit as Chaewon followed your eyes. "Yeah, didn't you know I was originally going to be a flight attendant? Really wanted to anyway. Parents didn't want me to, assholes." She said, a hint of discontent and resentment as she recalled the past.
"Neat, probably more interesting than teaching English." You chimed back, Chaewon moved inwards towards you slightly, arm pressing against your leg. You felt a bit of a blush this close, her perfume was equally cheap but pleasant, a mixture of cinnamon and cigarettes.
" English is fun to teach!" Chaewon yelled out. "Just, I wonder how things would have gone." She took a deep swig, nearly downing half the bottle. She was a really good friend to have. You smiled as you two chatted for a bit.
"Want a smoke Y/N?" Chaewon asked, rummaging through her bag as she threw found a lighter. Adorned with a middle finger and a heart, it matched her perfectly. "I don't smoke." You dismissed her.
"Don't care, come stand by me then." She demanded. You two stood outside, the night's chill laid on you two. More so Chaewon, the frail outfit providing little resistance to nature. She was frantically shivering while taking a drag of her cigarette, guilt clawed you. She was nothing but nice to you, a friend who didn't abandon you.
"Take this chae, don't freeze to death on me now." Your hands tugged off your warm hoodie, Chaewon put it on. It hung lose around her, a size or two larger than her body. "Thank you." Chaewon whispered, taking another hit before smirking. "Just one?" Her cigarette held an inch from your face, if it'd make her happy.
You coughed violently as the overwhelming sensation to cough filled every fiber of your being in. Shoving the devil stick back towards her while she laughed. "Wimp." You two went back inside and talked for a long while, teaching, personal life, anything.
"I'm gonna use the bathroom, don't run off." Chaewon said, running up the stairs as you sat against her plush couch. Taking a sip of cider, much more palatable than those beers.
Her phone lit up. a singular message laid on her decorated phone, a black phonecase with various symbols and a key chain.
Yunjin (school one): you finished sharing the.... The text message cut off, you felt confused, staring at the screen while your mind reeled with possibilities. Shared what? You were taken out of your thoughts as loud steps came down the stairs. It wouldn't hurt to ask, just in a roundabout way.
You took a deep breath as Chaewon sat back down. Laying against your leg as you spoke, "You helping Yunjin with English? She stopped coming to my tutor sessions." You were worried you came off nervous, however it seemed like Chaewon didn't notice. "No, she doesn't come to mine. I guess she doesn't need it." Oh.
"So what did you share? Your phone lit up." You pushed forward, Chaewon's skin went devoid of color as she gulped. "Errr..." Her words caught in her throat. "It's not what you think." She continued.
"Then what is it Chaewon." You pried, getting poised to leave. "It's, you - okay. I may have started those rumors but I had a reason! Just hear me out!" You felt betrayed, a knife digging into your back. You got up to leave, walking towards the door. Chaewon's body connected with you, slamming your body into the wall invoking a large slamming noise. Chaewon was mere inches from your face, alcoholic breath catching in your nose as she held you against the wall.
"I had a reason! You were pulling away from me and Yunjin, rejecting her advances! Clearly you had someone else in mind, so we had to act!" She yelled, pressing deeper into your stomach as you gasped in pain. "Chaewon, you are fucking nuts.. Get off of me!" You two struggled against each other, arms pushing for dominance. "It had to be done! Stop struggling and we can just talk." Her leg slammed up against your crotch, knocking you down onto the ground as you writhed in pain. "Always so fucking difficult! We could have had a good night. I got all ready, wore my thinnest clothes the second you messaged me. But no, you have to be awkward." Chaewon rambled, now firmly on top of you as you attempted to push her off. Panting as oxygen left your body, she was way too strong. "I love you Y/N! So does Yunjin, just give in!" She yelled, taking your lips in a stolen kiss, the reeking taste of alcohol entering your mouth as she forcefully gnawed at you.
Prehaps you got lucky, perhaps she got tired. Either way you were thankful as a particularly strong shove got her off you, heart hammering against your chest as you slipped your shoes on half-haphazardly. Running as fast as you could back to your car. Chaewon was in your rear view mirror, a disturbing grin as you drove off. "THIS ISN'T OVER Y/N!"
-
The next two days didn't come easy, sleep a luxury too taxing for you. Every second you weren't distracted brought you back to that night, work was even harder. Chaewon being so close to you made you panic, quality of work slipping away as you struggled to teach.
You couldn't tell if it was your own delusions or if Yunjin was eyeing you up, her smile felt sadistic as she kept asking questions. Watching as you struggle to answer, the other students must have noticed you going mad.
You were at home, eyes closed as you fought for a singular second of sleep. The events replaying yet again, how close you were to an unexplainable horror. The gentle hum of YouTube did nothing to soothe you. Hands clawing the pillow as your heart raced, breathing heavy. You weren't going to be able to sleep like this.
Going outside wasn't going to calm you down, way too dark. Nobody would be able to save you. You opened the window, breathing in the cold fresh air. Your breathing calmed down as you relaxed. You'll be okay. You'll be okay.
You fell asleep for the first time in days.
A loud blaring noise rang out, the sound of your phone's alarm. In your tiredness you had set it to 7pm instead of 7am. God fucking damn it.
You walked downstairs, desperate for a cup of water to nurse your dry throat. Something felt wrong, the air felt colder than it should. It must be your nerves, you breathed out. Heading towards the kitchen.
The water went down your throat, soothing every dry muscle as it coated your mouth. You started to walk upstairs when your jaw dropped. Two shadowy figures were outside your door, a cacophonous noise of scratching metal and muffled talking. Your blood ran cold, rushing upstairs as water splashed on your arm.
Your bedroom provided no comfort now, the creaking of the front door alerted you. They were inside. You breathed erratically, vision blurring around the edges. Footsteps came up the stairs, you scanned around the room looking for anything to use. Nothing, you really shouldn't have cleaned recently.
The door opened and two figures came in, they didn't wear disguises. Chaewon and Yunjin were there in all your glory, faces shocked as you stared at them.
"Hello Y/N." Yunjin said, her hand was holding something. A knife. You gulped, they were going to kill you. "We were hoping you would be asleep. But we can improvise for you honey." Chaewon followed up, her voice sickeningly sweet. They got closer. "Get back! This is insane!" You cried out.
"Insane, maybe honey. But let's talk about this more when we are home, Yunjin." Chaewon commanded, Yunjin got close. Holding a knife against your throat, Chaewon got closer. A needle of a strange liquid in her hand. "Don't do this." You made one last plea, but they didn't listen. Jabbing the syringe into your body.
It didn't take long before the world went black, the last thing you saw was sinister smiles.
-
You woke up, eyes being greeted with a grey basement. Water damaged as the scent of mold filled your nose, you tried to move but the tape shackles locked you in place.
You sat there for who knows how long, bored and petrified of what was about to happen. A loud scuttering down the stairs filled you with new found fear, it was Yunjin, wearing a t-shirt way too big for her and shorts. Her hand was holding a familiar knife. "Morning honey, sleep well?" Her innocuous question made you recoil.
She smiled as she sat on your leg, putting the knife against your throat. "I asked you a question, let's not get off on the wrong foot." You panicked. "Yunjin, calm down.. I slept fine." You had to comply, the knife disappeared from your throat as you let out a sigh of relief. "Okay, good. You'll love it here. But one word of advice." Yunjin got closer, inches from your ear "we don't like to repeat ourselves." You gulped.
Chaewon came down the stairs next, holding a tray of scrambled eggs, toast and orange juice. You couldn't lie when you said it looked good, hunger panged in your stomach causing a burst of discomfort. "I brought you breakfast." She said.
You couldn't accept it, couldn't give in to their desires. "I'm not taking your food." You barked, Chaewon sighed as Yunjin frowned. "Look, I don't know what power you think you have. But I'm feeding you this food to you either way." She gathered some egg on a fork bringing it to your mouth. "Be a good boy so I don't have to force you." Chaewon pleaded, but her voice vowed danger if you didn't comply.
You accepted, opening your mouth slightly as she fed you. Smiling as you ate her cooking, "Good." She was honestly a good cook, but you wouldn't stroke their ego. Yunjin spoke "We can fix up the basement, if you are good we will be so nice. If not, well you'll see." The words filled you with fear as a piece of toast entered your mouth.
-
It has been a long time since they took you, there was no way to tell. They didn't give you a clock, you had roughly gathered a schedule. One of the two would come in and give you breakfast, then after a excruciating long time one of them would come again to talk to you.
You three had a lot of battles, defiant to their actions. You'd always regret it after. Chaewon was the much more brutal one, taking pleasure in your misery. You weren't going to forget when she snapped, dragging her knife through your flesh. Ignoring your pleading to stop, Yunjin was much calmer with her actions. Mostly getting enjoyment from teasing you.
They returned, the atmosphere felt different. They seemed almost playful, not in the same sadistic way as usual. "Hey Y/N, do you know what day it is?!" They said together, hands gesturing enthusiastically. You shook your head, "It's our one month anniversary!" Chaewon cheered, Yunjin carrying on like this was rehearsed. "So we all get a reward! You can get some entertainment! Me and chae get some dick, you wouldn't deprive us of that right?" She smiled. Your mind filled with thoughts, you should say no. But something about the way they looked was bringing you inwards.
"I wouldn't deny you.." You said quietly, they beamed. "Great! We need to prepare something so go shower or something."
-
The sanguine of their LEDs painted the room in a deep red. They had tied you back up leaving you naked, cock hardening as they stripped slowly. They were really putting on a show, Chaewon's hands pulled Yunjin's crop top off, delivering soft kisses to her stomach while Yunjin patted her head. Chaewon's teeth bit down on her skirt. Looking directly into her eyes as she trailed down her legs, revealing Yunjin's panties wet with need.
"Isn't she so perfect? Don't you just wanna fuck your ex-student's cunt?" Chaewon asked, quickly disposing of the undergarments. Yunjin's body now fully exposed, she looked divine. Entire body bathed in red but it did nothing to hide her beauty. Her skin was smooth and perfect from head to toe, her body begged for attention. Her breasts rock solid and pussy glistening. "God. I want to fuck her so hard." You whined, Chaewon smiled as a glint of mischief hit her eyes. "She offered it to you, don't you remember?" She teased, the catalyst of this entire event happening coming back to your head.
"Tell you what, you sit there like a good boy. Maybe you can have my seconds." Chaewon growled, mouth making contact with Yunjin's drooling cunt. Loud sucking noses could be heard as Chaewon treated her like a goddess, putting on a show as she feasted.
Chaewon had no desire to be slow, she had desire to be messy. Yunjin's juices covered her face as she got deep as possible. Yunjin was screaming, "Fuck.. Keep going Chae!" The scene in front of you was intense, bringing you to full hardness as your cock violently throbbed. Hands begging for freedom against the restraints. "She tastes so good Y/N, imagine if you said yes. We could have been doing this together." Chaewon said, taking a small breather for oxygen.
Chaewon's fingers feverishly rubbed Yunjin's swollen clit, tongue fucking her hole as it spewed its sticky juice onto Chaewon's tongue." Fuck! Chaewon I'm gonna cum on that tongue!" Yunjin moaned, legs spasming as she came undone. A shared panting between the two as they battled for precious air.
"Awe, look how needy he is" Yunjin teased. You were leaking precum, shaft standing tall as you begged with your eyes. The room was hotter now, burning with passion between you three.
They got closer, dropping down to their knees as they came eye level to your cock. Eyeing it up like a stick of candy, Yunjin's lips took you in, her mouth warm and wet. Tongue licking up bitter precum as she went inch by inch, Yunjin was refined and elegant. Keeping the mess to a minimum as she sucked you off, a delectful contrast to Chaewon who sucked on your balls. Lathering you up with her saliva, the dual assault made you buck your hips and whine. "You two are so good.. Don't stop."
Your words made them try harder, Yunjin pressing you deep into her throat, gagging up sounds as she did her best. Chaewon licked your balls, the sensations driving you mad. You couldn't last longer like this. "Chae, Yunjin.. I'm bouta cum! Fuck!" You yelled, inches away from heaven as they pulled away. The sudden lack of pleasure caused great discomfort as they edged you.
"Not yet, keep it for later." You whined as Yunjin spoke. Chaewon stripped herself and revealed her smooth cunt, freshly shaved and equally as wet. "Who do you wanna fuck first? Your ex-student or your ex-colleague?" You were given an impossible choice, both looking irresistible. And you'd get to fuck both, so you spoke true to your heart. "Chaewon." You said and she smiled. "You flatter me baby." She removed the restraints, putting you on the soft bed.
"Enjoy this, my cunt is so tight." Chaewon gasped seductively, lips parting as she took you in. Her walls squeezed the life out of you as you two shared a moan, she bounced up and down with an intense vigor. Desperate to prove something, Yunjin didn't remain idle. Laying down next to your bouncing crotches. Her tongue reached out, sinful noises coming out as Yunjin's tongue licked both of you.
"Fuck, Y/N! THIS DICK IS SO GOOD!" Chaewon shouted like a eager hooker, finding solace in your hard length. The earlier foreplay had done a number on you, "I'm not going to last long Chaewon!" You let out a guttral moan. "It's okay! Cum in me!" You obliged, shooting creamy splurts into her body. Yunjin quick to get any that leaked out.
Chaewon got off. Letting you recover, Yunjin looked eager for your length. It was going to be a long long anniversary.

Innit VS In’t - a PSA
I’ve seen some confusion in Hobie fics around the word “innit” and I think I’ve figured out why: aside from general confusion about the use of the word, I believe some people are occasionally mixing it up with “in’t”.
So let’s dive into it!
Innit - isn’t it
Can be used at the end of a sentence to make it a question or for emphasis.
E.g. “That’s a load of rubbish, innit?” Or “I’m Spider-Man, innit.” (The latter is an example of emphasis. It’s not grammatically correct but using slang isn’t always about being grammatically correct).
“Innit” can also be used in the middle and at the beginning of sentences (in place of “isn’t it”).
E.g. “Innit lovely out here?” Or “You told me that a Vulture variant was loose in Holborn, but innit true you’ve been tellin’ porkies?”
In’t - contraction of “isn’t”
You can use “in’t” in place of “isn’t”.
E.g. “In’t that the guy who was in here earlier?” Or “That’s a metaphor for capitalism, in’t it?” (You could also use “innit” in the second example).
It can be a bit confusing to a non-English ear to distinguish between “innit” and “in’t”, especially when they’re spoken quickly. For example: if you think you’re hearing someone say something like “Innit that right?” (which would be saying “Isn’t it that right?”, then you’re probably actually hearing them say “In’t that right?”
But wait!
Couldn’t you just use “ain’t” instead of “in’t”?
Sure!
“Ain’t” is a very versatile contraction. It can mean: am not, are not, is not, have not, has not, do not, does not and did not.
E.g. “I ain’t a liar!” Or “He ain’t done his homework.” Or “Ain’t that the truth.” Or “It ain’t right.”
Fun facts:
The earliest records of “ain’t” are from the 1700’s but it was popularised by Dickens’ representation of Cockney dialect.
“In’t” originates from Northern England.
So why use “in’t” instead of “ain’t”?
Personal preference, innit?
And there you have it, a dive into the world of “innit”, “in’t” and “ain’t”!
As always, I’m not an expert, I just wanted to share the knowledge that I do have. There may be other ways to use these words, depending on what part of the country you come from, but this should cover the vast majority of them (if not maybe all of them)! Hopefully someone will find this helpful, informative or entertaining at the very least. I know a lot of this seems basic, but there are a lot of non-native English speakers in the fandom so I wanted to cover all my bases.
Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like me to cover and I’ll see what I can do! If you’re using “innit” or “in’t” in your writing but aren’t sure if you’re using it right, I’m happy to look over any sentences you’d like me to!
Happy writing!

Wayne Family Residence – Sleepwalking Observation Log Compiled by: Alfred Thaddeus Crane Pennyworth Subject: Master Casey Wayne Purpose: To document incidents of somnambulism for Dr. Hoffman’s review Start Date: [REDACTED]
Entry #004 Date: [REDACTED] Time: 03:08 AM
Description: Awoke to a faint creaking on the third-floor landing. Upon investigation, found Master Casey standing motionless at the top of the main staircase. Eyes open, unblinking. Left arm extended slightly forward, as if reaching for something unseen. No response when addressed. Gently guided them back to bed. Breathing remained steady throughout.
Notes: This marks the fourth occurrence in seven nights. Tonight’s positioning—so near the staircase edge—was particularly concerning. Will install a motion-triggered nightlight and padded stair runner for safety. Noted faint smudge marks trailing along the stair railing—fingerprints that do not match my own. Casey’s hands were clean at the time of redirection.
Entry #005 Date: [REDACTED] Time: 02:41 AM
Description: Security alarms signaled motion in the garden. Located Master Casey standing barefoot at the edge of the garden pond, eyes fixated on the water. Temperature near freezing. Toes curled against the stone. Clutched in their hand, a silver coin I do not recognize. Murmuring indistinctly under their breath. No response to light, voice, or physical contact. Gently redirected them indoors. Upon returning with warm milk, found them fast asleep on the sitting room love seat. Coin was taken to the study for further review.
Notes: Second recorded instance of outdoor wandering. Perimeter systems to be reinforced; window sensors on the east wing scheduled for diagnostics. No known personal significance of the pond to Master Casey. Arranging temporary pond cover. Coin appears to be genuine silver, origin unknown. Following morning, Casey expressed great distress upon discovering the coin missing. Claimed it was given by the "tooth fairy" and promised to "Yaya" to keep it with them at all times.
Entry #006 Date: [REDACTED] Time: 01:57 AM
Description: Heard low murmuring via nursery monitor. Entered the room to find Casey seated upright in bed, speaking in an unrecognizable language. Tone monotone. Rhythm steady—phrase repeated six times. Upon approach, they turned toward me and clearly stated in English: “She doesn’t like the basement.” Then lay back down and resumed sleeping.
Notes: The basement door remains locked at all times. To my knowledge, Casey has never been made aware of its existence.
Entry #007
Date: [REDACTED]
Time: 03:14 AM
Description:Discovered Master Casey’s bedroom door open during routine patrol. No signs of forced entry or tampering with child safety locks. Located them in the east wing study, seated before the fireplace. Barefoot, dressed in sleepwear, hands resting calmly in their lap. Eyes open, but unfocused. Did not respond to voice. Offered no resistance when carried back to bed. Remained asleep throughout. Notably, the fireplace—unused in years—carried the faint scent of burnt wood.
Notes:No known reason for Casey to enter the study. The room is uninviting and generally avoided. When questioned in the morning, they recalled a vague dream “about being cold,” but no recognition of the study itself. Will recheck all window locks and reinstall motion sensors in the east wing corridors.
Entry #008 Date: [REDACTED] Time: 01:57 AM
Description: Master Casey found at the attic stairwell threshold. Door was ajar—odd, as it remains latched from the outside. No signs of tampering. They held the same silver coin previously secured in the study. I am certain I placed it in a locked cabinet drawer, which remains undisturbed. Casey did not ascend the stairs. Appeared to be listening. When asked what they heard, whispered, “They’re quiet right now.” Did not elaborate. Escorted them back to bed. Coin was again confiscated and this time locked in the wall safe.
Notes: The attic has been unused for several years. No personal items stored within. Security logs show no activity near the attic before this incident. Will perform a manual inspection during daylight hours. Coin now exhibits faint edge scratches and an unfamiliar fingerprint smudge. Still unclear how Casey regained possession. Beginning to question whether locking it away serves any purpose.
Ongoing Concerns:
Increased frequency and complexity of episodes
Recurrent focus on specific household locations (staircase, basement, attic, rear entrance)
Introduction of unexplained objects and behavior (coin, unfamiliar language, environmental awareness during unconscious state)
Recommendations: Continue nightly documentation. Strongly advise informing Master Wayne of the full extent of these incidents prior to briefing Dr. Hoffman. I anticipate reluctance.— A. Pennyworth
A/N: This one felt a little weird because I thought it'd be a bit more informal but it still feels clinical. I think I'll stop this sort of writing after I finish this series.

i don't have the words to articulate it at this moment but there's something about the way that people have specific expectations for "authenticity" and will dismiss anything that falls outside them as a mangled, anglicised version of the thing when actually that is the older and more traditional form of something, it just doesn't match their expectations. obviously in my personal experiences i'm mostly talking about medieval literature here especially medieval irish literature
sometimes this is as simple as spelling – i've had people argue that the name "finn" is anglicised and it should always be "fionn" to be Really Irish, but "finn" is an older spelling, glide vowels are later, if you wanna go real far back it'll be "find" (nd in place of nn is an older spelling pattern). or they'll hear someone say "ogam" and assume they're mispronouncing "ogham" due to lack of knowledge of irish and not consider the fact that medievalists tend to use the older form of the word. or they'll Well Actually you about "correct" terminology which wasn't standardised (and/or invented) until the 20th century
a lot of this is defensive and the result of seeing a lot of people ACTUALLY get this stuff wrong and have no respect for the language. in that regard i understand it, although it becomes very tedious after a while, particularly when people sanctimoniously declare something "inauthentic", "fake", or "anglicised" without doing enough research to realise it's not trying to be modern irish and is in fact correct for older forms of the language
more often however this search for the projected "authenticity" is ideological and has much larger flaws and more problematic implications. "this can't be the real story because it's christian" well... that's the oldest version of the story that exists and it postdates christianity in ireland by about nine hundred years, so... maybe question why you're assuming the only "real" version of irish stories can't be a christian one? this is especially true when it comes to fíanaigecht material tbh, but in general there seems to a widespread misapprehension about ireland's historical relationship with christianity (i have seen people arguing that christianity in ireland is the result of english colonialism which took their "true" faith from them... bro. they were christian before the "english" existed. half the conversion efforts went the other way. please read some early medieval history thank you)
however i also saw someone saying this about arthurian literature lately which REALLY baffled me. "we'll never have the Real arthurian stories only the christianised versions" and it was in the context of chivalric romance. buddy you are mourning something that does not exist. this "authentic" story you're looking for isn't there. that twelfth century story you're dismissing as a christian bastardisation is as "real" a part of this tradition as you're going to get
#in general if you do not want christianity in your medieval literature maybe arthuriana is not the best choice#it is. so fucking christian#as for fíanaigecht. did they think st patrick was there by accident#the arthuriana comment took me out though.#the christianised versions. of chivalric romance.#YOU MEAN THE CHRÉTIENISED VERSIONS?? IS THAT THE PROBLEM?#anyway this is not a pro christianity statement this is a pro historical accuracy statement#medieval#medieval literature

Lotus Flower

━━━━━━━━ You were his first and great love, a woman who pretended to be a man to be a warrior and without realizing it you stole the general's heart, he was fascinated with you, your valor and courage were comparable to the fury of a dragon but your beauty similar to a lotus flower, you were unique and although their love blossomed in the wrong place perhaps destiny will give them another chance centuries later, when he sees your face again.
Kim Shin x fem reader¡!
master list¡!
English is not my native language¡¡¡
When you looked at your reflection in the pond you didn't recognize yourself, your hair, once long and silky, was now short and neatly tied back in a ponytail.
Your face, covered in dirt and dried blood, obscured the care you had given your skin before enlisting as a warrior.
¿Why did you do this? You were still questioning yourself, in a moment of impulsiveness, you disobeyed your family, they said you'd only be a pretty face, obedient, quiet, and helpful, but you didn't want that for your future, you didn't want to get married, much less serve your husband.
You wanted more, to read every book in the world, acquire knowledge, and maybe fall in love, like in fairy tales.
You let out a sigh and dipped your hands in the water to take a sip and refresh your face, your body ached from the endless fighting, but you couldn't stop now, you were so close to becoming a great warrior, showing the world that a woman could be strong and beautiful at the same time.
—Soldier, the general requests your immediate presence —a man spoke behind you.
You stood up and deepened your voice to respond.
—Immediately.
General Kim Shin was someone who at first terrified you, you felt that at any moment he could discover you and kill you for infiltrating as someone you definitely weren't but now you believed that he was the only man you could trust in the middle of this entire battlefield.
You wouldn't say it out loud but your heart would skip a beat every time he was near you and complimented you, he didn't know you were a woman, but deep down, you hoped that one day he'd find out and reciprocate your feelings.
You adjusted the heavy armor on your body and went to the tent where the general was.
[...]
Life was monotonous, boring, living nine hundred years had become tedious and although he never expected his supposed girlfriend, he was convinced that one day he would be able to pull the sword from his chest.
He walked through the streets of Seúl, with an umbrella on his head that covered him from the white snow and the coat he was wearing that protected him from the icy wind, he had no direction, he just let his feet guide him to a good destination.
Maybe that thought was planted by God this morning, a slight warning for what was to come.
In front of him, a few kilometers away, he saw you leaving a store with your own bag on your head, you had forgotten the umbrella and the weather had turned against you.
Without thinking much, he approached you and used his umbrella to protect you from the icy snowflakes that fell incessantly from the sky.
—You should cover up or you'll catch a cold —he exclaimed, looking curiously at the name of the place you came from.
"Taekwondo"
He arched an eyebrow and looked down at you.
—Thank you, I thought it would be sunny today, leaving my clothes outside wasn't very smart —You replied with a nervous smile as you looked up and adjusted your bag on your shoulder.
For Shin the world around him stopped abruptly, your eyes, your smile and even your hair were exactly the same as…
He knew that every certain number of years a person was reincarnated with the same face.
But seeing you standing there in front of him made feel so unreal, he wasn't ready, not after so many years even though he always knew there was a chance to see you again, this had caught him off guard.
—¿Why do you look at me like that? —You asked with a raised eyebrow and taking a small step back.
Shin said your name, your old name, how stupid, as if you could remember that time of yesteryear so he wasn't surprised to see the expression of genuine confusion on your face.
—I think you're confusing me —You replied with a tense smile.
—¿Are you a taekwondo teacher? —Him asking to divert the subject, him didn't want to confuse you or make you feel bad, besides, him wasn't even sure that you were really the reincarnation of the woman he fell in love with centuries ago.
Upon receiving your statement, he looked at you once more carefully, was it too much of a coincidence or was it a bad joke from God for putting you in his path once again.
—But this class is only for children from four to twelve years old —You rushed to say awkwardly while maintaining your firm posture despite feeling somewhat intimidated by him strong gaze, you felt strange —Adult classes are held at a different location, at different times, and with a different instructor ¿Are you going to take lessons?
—I have no interest in doing it.
The man's tone of voice made you feel even smaller under his gaze, strange, you never felt that way but somehow you couldn't help having that feeling with this stranger.
—Well... I-I have to go.
But he didn't want you to leave, the feeling that it was really you remained in his head, or rather in his heart, a hunch one might say, ¿What if it was you who drew the sword? ¿Could you even see it? Impossible, you would surely have turned your attention to his chest from the moment he arrived.
—Take the umbrella with you —He said, handing you the umbrella before you left.
You were going to refuse, you didn't want to abuse his chivalry and leave him without protection from the snow but the cold in your hands was stronger than your pride so you took the umbrella, thanked him and turned to leave immediately because you had another commitment and couldn't be late but you stopped a few steps away and saw him again in the same place where you left him.
—¡I promise to return it! —You assured him, bowing again before waving goodbye and continuing on your way.
He watched you walk away silently with his hands in his pocket and inevitably a distant the memory that he shared with you came to mind.
That night he discovered that a woman had pretended to be a man to participate in the battlefield.
You.
He admitted it, you were too convincing, you were smart, strong and cunning but also compassionate and observant.
An attitude that was non-existent among the ranks of his warriors when they were in the middle of a battle.
He still remembered seeing the expression on your face when he confronted you about that lie, there were rules, he respected them most of the time and pretending to be a man to be part of the war was considered high treason, however, he refused to execute you, he kept your secret only because you were one of his best warriors and you were very capable.
You earned him trust and, over time, him heart.
You heard him every night when he needed someone to talk to or the comforting warmth of a hug.
Every time him fought by your side were victorious until one day it wasn't like that, what was a small oversight became a tragedy.
Kim Shin's sword finished off each of his enemies but he was confident, a soldier from the enemy side was going to attack him from behind when he heard your voice alerting him, he immediately reacted but with that small carelessness you had your chest was pierced by a sword
Seeing you fall to your knees with blood pouring from your mouth was an image that remained etched in his mind, he couldn't help you, the only thing he could do was end the life of your murderer but only that, it was a war, there were losses but even with that idea he wasn't prepared to see you die in front of him for saving his life.
Just as he wasn't prepared to see your face again, he truly wanted you to be the reincarnation of his true love.
And if you were, he swore to himself to protect you just as he didn't in your old life.
Sorry for disappearing, but I'm at the end of the semester😭😭
Anyway, I hope you like this. I want to make a fic with this plot but I would do it on Wattpad.😸

enjoy!
When you started hunting with Sam and Dean one of the last things you expected to encounter was an Angel, especially after discovering they aren't “harps and halos" like in the books you read as a kid, but instead soldiers and sometimes assholes.
Castiel was an exception to the “asshole” part, he was actually very sweet when it came to you and the boys. Helped you, saved you and cared for you. In that sense, Cas was just like the Angel stories, a guardian of the humans he was in charge of.
And for you, it was fun teaching Cas about humans and how they behaved, helped him when he didn't understand Dean's pop culture references, got him to watch classic movies and listen to music and he was always very keen into doing so, curious and intrigued in what you explained to him.
Those big blue eyes always gave you his full attention, sometimes with that little frown that you started to call “The Angel Frown” while he questioned you about something that, to you, was basic knowledge. You were always as patient as possible with him, always clarifying what you could in words he could understand and that ended up always making him come to you for help.
In conclusion, you and Cas got closer and you started to catch yourself staring when he wasn't looking, admiring his smiles, drowning into his sapphire eyes and wishing that he had just more doubts about how people acted so you could spend more time with him.
You knew, from what Castiel told you, that Angels and feelings, human feelings at least, weren't compatible and that things such as love and romance weren't truly a reality for him and his siblings, they were warriors after all, created to serve their Father and that was it.
Even when Castiel rebelled for the Winchesters, letting go of the “I don't serve men” mindset was difficult but you, Dean and Sam were there for him. You were more understandable then the brothers because you knew Cas was trying his best.
And because you fell for the Angel, but nobody needed to know that.
One night you arrived at the motel room you were staying at, after waving goodnight to Sam and Dean, them going to their separate room.
You opened the door and sighed deeply in exhaustion. It had been a long day of questioning and more questions appearing then those answered. At first you guys thought of a vengeful spirit, then cursed object, then witch. All of those possibilities were still up and it was driving you three insane. People were dying and you felt useless.
Once you closed the door and threw your stuff in the closest table you turned to your bed, where your bag was placed to get some clothes to take a well deserved shower. But, when you looked at your pillow, you noticed a single pink flower sitting over it and you furrowed your eyebrows.
You approached the flower slowly, skeptical about it, your hunter instincts telling you this wasn't good news. You slowly reached for it, as if it could bite your hand off, and picked it up. You analyzed the plant, very confused and grabbed your laptop.
You searched until you found a flower similar to the one you were holding and learned it was a Camellia. You looked between the screen and the flower and you searched up what a pink Camellia meant because, as much as you knew, flowers weren't really something you looked into.
What you found was shocking. According to the internet, a pink Camellia represents admiration and appreciation and Camellias and general represent love and affection. You widen your eyes at the flower in your hands, looking around your empty room as if someone would pop up and explain what this was doing at your bed. Wrong room?
You couldn't think of anybody that could give you this willingly. It definitely wasn't Sam or Dean because, first, they spent the whole day by your side and, second, unless they meant it platonically, the boys didn't see you like that. You loved them and they loved you, of course, but, to them, you were like a sister Dean loves you like he loves Sam, the same way Sam loves you like he loves Dean and vice-versa.
The only person that came to your mind was…No, it couldn't be, he said himself, love for him was basically unachievable but you couldn't help but wonder, even if your rational brain said it was stupid to think Cas would mean that. You smiled at the flower, that tinge of hope lightning inside you.
You looked around the room to look for something you could fill up with water and found an empty beer bottle. That'll do.
You washed the bottle to get the smell of alcohol off and filled it up with water, placing the little flower inside.
The pink color of the petals clashed with the transparent green of the bottle and you smiled at that. It looked cute in a way. You thought, even if this didn't come from someone you knew, you were keeping it, at least the flower.
You left the makeshift vase in your nightstand and took your stuff to the shower, peeling off your suit and your tie on the way, leaving it on the ground as you locked yourself inside the bathroom.
In these moments, Cas thanked his abilities of becoming unseen because you arrived just as he was leaving the Camellia over your pillow. He spent the day researching flowers, finding an interest in how humans always gave them to the people they cared about or to the ones who passed. He wanted to give you one to show you that he cared for you and also as a thank you for being patient with him for a long time.
He always felt happier around you, a warm feeling inside him always seemed to bloom. He felt the need to be close to you, like you were a human magnet. Everytime you looked at him he felt a weird feeling in his stomach, your smile was always something he felt the need to chase, he wanted to see it always in your face. He admired the way your eyes would shine when you were talking about something you liked.
When he saw you placing the flower on the nightstand with a smile he felt that weird feeling in his stomach again. He would do anything to see that look on your face again.
That hunt lasted a week, taking you three too long to figure out it was a witch and even longer to find said witch and to say you guys were fed up was an understatement.
For that long week you dared to say you missed the Angel, you thought about calling him, praying to him, multiple times but what were you going to say when he arrived? Missed you? I just wanted to see you?
Everything you thought sounded too intimate so you discarded the idea of calling him.
But two more flowers appeared on your pillow after that pink Camellia. A Peony that you learned meant for the Chinese something along the lines of “the most beautiful” and a stunning Carnation in a light red shade that represented admiration. At this point you were very intrigued about who was the one giving you the flowers, Castiel still on your mind. You didn't want to get your hopes too high, you were probably overthinking it anyways, making your heart speak louder than your brain.
You were lying on your bed, staring at the tiny bouquet of three flowers given piece by piece to you. It was your last night in that room, Dean having insisted he needed the sleep so as to not crash the Impala from tiredness. You had offered to drive as you weren't as bad as he was but, of course, that was an immediate no from the older brother so all of you settled for one more night.
As you close your eyes and start to fall asleep, a sudden flutter of wings gets your attention. It's dark in the room so you take a peek and for sure it's Cas. You hold back a smile and close your eyes, pretending to be sleeping.
You feel the Angel approaching the bed, his presence making your heart quicken in your chest. From what it sounds like, he's just standing, watching you and you start to feel very nervous.
Castiel on the other hand arrived to see your sleeping form and couldn't help but watch. You looked peaceful, your breathing was calm and you looked…pretty. Cas thought all his father's creations were wonderful but he felt like you could top them all, literally, in your sleep.
He had another little flower in his hand which, to him, had a very self-explanatory name, a Forget-Me-Not.
He spun the blue flower on his fingers, debating if he should leave it inside the vase or besides you, over your pillow.
He approached you and while he was placing the flower next to your head he felt a gentle hand wrap around his wrist and instantly froze on the spot.
You opened your eyes and looked at his near-horrified face. You smiled at him.
“Got you” You said, a little above a whisper and looked at the flower he was holding. That one you knew the name and what it meant and you felt warmth spreading through your cheeks, not just at that one flower, but knowing now that all those flowers you received came from Cas.
“I'm sorry for disturbing you” He said as he retreated his hand and you held the Forget-Me-Not. He was tense, not looking at you.
“So you were the secret admirer leaving me these flowers?” You asked as you slowly sat up on the bed and placed the blue flower inside the bottle with the three others. You placed both your hands over your lap, fidgeting nervously with your fingers. “Why?”
He looked around. What was he supposed to say? Himself barely knew why he was doing this but it felt right so he kept going with it. He noticed that the flower meanings resembled things that he felt or thought of you and he enjoyed collecting them for you, especially after you kept them.
“These flowers all have a meaning behind them” He started “Take them as a thank you for…being helpful with my understanding of human behaviors”
You smiled stupidly at that. The way he said it sounded like something he had rehearsed before coming to you to say it, the words too polite. But yet, that's one of the things you liked about him.
“You didn't have to Cas…They are beautiful, thank you” You said and looked at the flowers again, biting your lip. You felt his eyes on you, it was always intimidating. You knew that it was just the way he was, look right into your eyes while you talk to show you had his full attention, his beautiful blue orbs hypnotizing.
Cas analyzed every aspect of yours as you sat in front of him, his eyes wondering over your figure and his hands moved faster than his thoughts and he reached for your shoulder, his palm traveling from your shoulder blade to the end of your upper arm and back up, tracing a pattern over your skin. He longed to touch you and be closer to you in a way he couldn’t explain so, in this moment, you both alone, he decided to fulfill this wish.
You widened your eyes and looked up at Castiel who was entranced by the movement of his hand, goosebumps flaring up on your skin.
“Cas?” You said and acknowledged your call with a hum “What are you…?”
He finally looked at you, his hand steadied on your shoulder.
“When I’m around you I always feel this need to touch you, be closer and this…” He shakes his head, finding a word to define how he felt. “Warmth comes over me everytime you smile”
His eyes bore through yours and you could only stare back at him, shocked.
“Cas, you’re saying–”
“I think I might love you, Y/N” He interrupted. The way he said it sounded like a confusion, a slight approach, as if he was tiptoeing around the thought, not sure if he wanted to grasp it or just keep his distance.
You were dumbfounded. He sounded so sincere and your heart started to beat faster, his hand over your shoulder felt like it was burning through your skin. It all made sense, the flowers, the way he was always keen on talking to you even when you did most of the talking and he just listened with a faint smile and pure interest, he just didn’t know because he never felt like this before, he didn’t know what loving was like.
You landed a hand over his cheek, your eyes practically watering with an emotional overload at his words. You thumb rubbed the light stubble on his cheek and you pulled him in for a hug. You wanted to kiss him so bad but you were on a baby steps basis with the Angel.
You hugged him tightly, his hands hesitantly wrapping around your frame as you let out a deep breath. When you pulled back, you didn’t pull away completely from him looking between his eyes and his mouth, a giddy smile on your face.
“I think I might love you too Castiel” You said and he widened his own eyes, a light chuckle coming out of you at his reaction.
Your chuckles were cut off by his lips on yours and you gasped in surprise. His mouth was as soft as you expected, his lips moving against your in perfect sync. He was impressively a good kisser, one of his hands gently holding at the back of your neck while the other slid down to your waist.
You felt like a bomb had exploded inside you, a foreign feeling of happiness spreading to every single cell on your body as your arms wrapped around his neck to hold yourself when he sat on the bed, pulling you over his lap, making you yelp.
You both pulled away, your arms still wrapped around each other and he had a light smile on his face. You one hundred per cent had a shocked look on yours, your cheeks hot and breathing heavy.
“Where’d you learn that?” You asked, absolutely knocked by the kiss.
“Dean told me a thing or two” He said and you couldn’t help but laugh, your body shaking against his as he also chuckled. “It seems like I did great?”
You stopped your laughs and looked in his eyes, drowning in their ocean blue. You gave a peck to the corner of his mouth.
“You did amazing” You said as one of your hands played with the hair at the nape of his neck and he pulled you in, the warmth spreading through both of you yet again, never wanting to let go.
