Gun Park

"How was school?"

You land on the sofa with a crash next to Gun.

Ugh. School was... school. Albeit a little better this week than it has been. The worst of your project work is over and that idiot in your class hasn't been around.

"Is that classmate still giving you trouble?"

"Huh? Oh. I haven't seen him this week."

"Hmm. Interesting."

Something about the way Gun says that draws your attention.

Why is he smiling? Is he happy that you're happy or-

Come to think of it. You haven't seen him since you last mentioned him bullying you to Gun.

... Everyone who causes you trouble has a habit of going 'missing'.

There was the group of girls who harassed you. Some drunken idiot who catcalled. This classmate who started picking on you. And actually, that boy you made friends with a few months back and Gun had disapproved when you told him.

The dots start to connect.

You startle back to the present and notice Gun staring intently at you. He knows that you know.

"Don't be scared, Y/N. I'm only doing this to protect you."

You know your boyfriend is violent, but you never thought-

"Are they..." you can't bring yourself to say the word 'dead'. The idea that Gun killed these people terrifies you.

"Not dead. They just aren't here anymore." Gun notices the shock written all over your face. He continues, "Y/N, haven't I made your life so much easier?"

And that is true. To an extent. But-

"You understand I would never hurt you?"

Wouldn't he? You suppose he has never laid a hand on you. You nod.

"You trust me?"

That, you do. He has never given you reason to doubt him. You nod again.

"Say the words."

"I trust you..."

"And?"

"It's for my own good." you say, even as the insidious grip of fear starts to wind its way around your neck.

Goo Kim

The bell to the cafe jingles, signalling a new patron. You put on your peppiest customer service smile.

Oh. Your face falls when you see who it is.

"You're here again?"

Goo just grins, taking his usual spot right by the counter. Right by you. "Yes my little sweetpea. Just visiting my love at work!"

It started as a nice gesture, Goo occasionally popping in. And if he wasn't here then he would be constantly texting you.

(He sulked for a week straight when you told him you weren't allowed your phone when you're working. Somehow you felt personally responsible for this despite it being a work policy.)

His quick coffee breaks turned into a few hours of lingering then eventually staying during your entire work schedule.

It is too much. Far too much.

"Goo... You know I got told off last time when you stayed for my whole shift."

"Is your manager still giving you a hard time!" Your boyfriend looks at you with the saddest puppy eyes and a pout. Goddamn it. Why are you the one feeling guilty.

You press on with what you want to say anyhow, "... Don't you think you being here all the time is a little inappropriate?"

Not just a little - a lot, you think. And not inappropriate - completely suffocating. But you are careful with your words.

"No! How could you think that..." The sulk intensifies and Goo looks genuinely upset. Ah shit. You're about to apologise- "Besides, I think your new boss would be fine with this."

In a blink of an eye, the mood changes. Goo looks happy. Manic, almost.

You narrow your eyes at him. What is he up to. "How do you know?"

"Let's just say I know him very personally."

"Who is it?"

"Your beloved - me! I bought this little cafe! Now I can see you all day every day!"

Seriously? This is ridiculous.

Your eyes quickly dart towards the other customers and your coworkers. You can't make a scene and frankly, you don't have the energy for this fight.

Nor do you want to put up with a week straight of tantrums until you inevitably suck it up and apologise.

Instead, you attempt your customer service smile again.

You hope it works.

Samuel Seo

Entering the living room, you are immediately greeted by Samuel glaring at you.

"Where have you been?"

"Didn't you see my text?" You are sure you texted him before you left, telling him not to wait for you for dinner.

"I must have missed it." His expression doesn't change. "Where did you go?"

It was nothing special. You just had a catch up with a few classmates over a meal. Your eyes glance at the clock. It's not even 8pm.

"Who were you with?"

You explain (and you did mention if he had just checked his phone), but Samuel makes you list out every person.

"There were guys there?"

You frown at him. Well, yes but it's not like it wasn't a group-

"Am I not enough for you?"

The question surprises you but you read between the lines. You know Samuel has his insecurity issues, and you have been trying to work through them with him. Surely, this should have been fine.

"Of course you are," You try to defuse the situation, yet the doubt creeps in that you could have been more considerate.

"I would be more comfortable if you asked first." Samuel approaches you, angry and disappointed. "How am I supposed to concentrate on work if I don't know where you are?"

"But I did text-"

"Do you want me to lose my job?"

You shake your head.

"Everything I've worked for?" Samuel looms over you, looking furious.

You shake your head again.

"Then why is it too much to ask you to ask me first before you wander off?"

Your eyes start to well up with tears.

"Don't be like that." Immediately the anger is gone, replaced by concern, "I'm only worried about you."

His hand reaches out to stroke your cheek, and you lean into it - does this mean that the worst of the storm seems to be over?

"You know I love you, right?"

Of course. It's obvious that Samuel loves you. And you love him too. He's only doing this for your sake.

"I know. Sorry for making you worry."

Like they interact pretty similarly to me and my siblings (except… you know… way more toxic) and I think it’s a fun dynamic that I genuinely want to see more of. I know the clan probably doesn’t hang out as a unit as often as like the Shaw Pack does but I really wanna see more of them together.

That doesn’t mean anything she is saying holds any merit. She could 100% be lying, and there could have been good intentions behind her turning him, even if it was a stupid decision. Like Porter said Alexis is a delightful blend of self assured and insecure. Do you really think if she held regret for what she did she would let other people see that?? Sam actively says that the shit she has gone through has made her hardened but there is still a person underneath all of it.

I thought we would see a little more relief that they are dead.

I hope that after hearing each other’s perspectives that this can bring Porter and Vincent closer together. Or at least make them hate each other less. I’m pretty sure it will, and I’m excited to see it.

Okay I genuinely don’t have too much to say about this video but one thing I will say is that it hits very close to home, in a very odd way. I could just be projecting and taking this the wrong way. However, I was the youngest child in my family, and I was too young to understand some of the stuff that happened around me or people tried to shelter me from it. Then when I was outright told the truth it kind of broke the way I viewed my life and the people in it, in a way that can’t really be fixed. So I feel that a lot through Vincent’s situation. Obviously not the same thing because my family isn’t centuries old vampires who have killed before and will kill again lmao. But that feeling of not knowing what to trust anymore, or what was real or what you just made up to make things fit the narrative that you were told. It hits pretty fucking deep.

(Am I over sharing on the internet? Possibly. But also it’s my blog so I can do whatever I want!)

Overall my thoughts areeee… While the summit wasn’t what I was expecting it was going to be I enjoyed it! It was refreshing to get some… possible moves on other storylines, some foreshadowing for ones that are going, and new information on characters!

I’m rereading the main series to fight the SADD and get the tone on my festival entry right, and I found myself thinking about Eddy dreaming of the Kraken taking Lucius in The Kid is Alright. Beyond the obvious reference to the actual show 😃 I wondered how much of that is her subconsciously worrying about him getting hurt by Izzy, and how much is about him getting hurt by her, because of jealousy over Izzy! (If you wanted to throw in a snippet of Lucius and Eddy interacting, I also wouldn’t protest!) 🤭

(I also feel the winter coming on, I feel you. This one is kind of piecemeal, but I think it gets to the root of it)

Usually when the dream came, it stuck to Eddy for a few days like gum on the bottom of her shoe. Not an injury, just the sticky, constant knowledge of it, making everything just one degree more difficult, one degree less enjoyable. A bad taste in the back of her throat.

Every time she saw Lucius, the taste was there. He seemed not to notice, going about his business, clearly pleased with his current lot in life. She tried not to seek him out in the dark, not to check that he was fine. 

Lucius was a pest and a damningly insightful one at that, but Eddy had grown to like him as much as anyone at the bar, partially because he was so inclined to poke at her. In her old life, there hadn’t been anyone left that wanted to even try to tease her. Oh, Izzy might’ve insulted her and been an outright asshole sometimes for his own ends, but he wouldn’t tease. None of the other guys would’ve dreamed of disrespecting ‘boss’’ like that. 

Yet, Lucius, who had seem to have their number right front the start, had no such qualms. He prodded, teased and basically pulled her pigtails, then would skitter a few steps back like a puppy, waiting for another dog to jump on him and continue the game. 

More and more, Eddy found herself taking the bait. She liked the verbal sparring and the general low stakes assholery that Lucius brought into her life. 

But he was playing with fire now. He’d gone to a place Eddy had never ventured, stepping into Izzy’s lair. No one knew better than Eddy how dangerous the man could be when he was crossed. 

Was that why she’d seen him screaming and devoured? Eaten by the beast and dragged to the depths? 

“Do I have something on my face?” Lucius raised his eyebrows as he set a drink in front of her. 

“Just the usual shit,” Eddy said vaguely, plucking up the glass and taking a sip. It was the new stout on tap, a creamy chocolatey note in it that she liked. “Thanks.” 

“You ordered it, figured you’d like it,” he shrugged. “Want to tell me why you’re tracking me like my head is gonna explode?” 

She took another sip. 

‘No?” He rolled his eyes. “Eddy, come on, what the fuck? Is this because of the Izzy stuff?” 

“No!” She blurted then winced. Fuck, she had really lost some of her edge. 

“Uh huh.” 

“You won’t like it.” 

“Probably not. Tell me anyway.” 

“Ugh,” she pressed the glass into her palms.  “I’m...worried. Like genuinely worried. He’s not a safe person.” 

“Yeah, I got that, actually,” Lucius planted his elbows on the bar in front of them, resting his chin in his palms. “Part of the appeal, if I’m honest.” 

“But-” 

“I think he’s more dangerous to himself right now for one thing,” Lucius considered. “And I’m not you.” 

“What do you mean?” She frowned.  

“I mean you two have a lot of history and pain between you. I just met him. He can be new with me. You know how that is.” 

“Yeah,” she said roughly. “But...” 

“I know he’s hurt you personally.” Lucius sighed. “Probably a lot. That’s real. It’s real that he might hurt me too.” 

“You don’t really think so.” 

“Of course I do,” it was said calmly, just a given fact. “But so could a lot of the randos I hook up with. People, even ones without violent jobs, can hurt us.” 

Eddy saw tentacles, waving up and dragging down. “Bleak.” 

“Just real.” 

“I reserve the right to worry about you,” she decided, taking another sip of beer.

“Do you now?” He smirked. “Guess I can’t stop you.” 

That seemed close enough to permission. Eddy went on watching him, monitoring for changes. Lucius went on being Lucius. He caught her staring again, winked and went on flirting and half-assing his job behind the bar. 

“What is it, honey?” Stede frowned, following her eyes one night. They were all at the tables after closing, passing around the cloth samples Stede had brought for potential new napkins for the tables. 

“Just checking.” 

“For what?” 

“That’s he’s all right.” 

“Oh! That’s sweet of you,” Stede said uncertainly. “But it looks like you might be trying to assassinate him with the power of your mind.” 

“Nope.” 

“You think maybe there might be something else?” 

Eddy shook her head and looked back down into the cloth in her hand. She had crumbled it up in her palm, holding it white-knuckled. 

“...maybe a little,” she conceded. 

“Do you want to talk about it?” 

The gum stuck to the floor. Came loose. Made a horrible sound. 

“I really do not.” 

“All right then.” 

What was there to say? He wasn’t hers anymore. She’d cut him loose. It had been one of the best decisions she’d ever made.  

No apologies. No regrets. 

Lucius threw back his head and laughed. Carefully, she smoothed the cloth back out and turned her attention to Stede. 

“Tell me about the cotton percentages again, my love.” 

“The one you have is actually 100% cotton! Very finely made, but for some reason less absorbent,” Stede began and she sunk into his words and let them soothe her fiery brain. 

If she ever got a taste for danger again, she’d only have to watch Stede enthuse about one of his passions. He lit up, his hands flung around, a dance of excitement and she could lose herself in that joy so easily. It was the beautiful kind of contagious.

It's 2 am and I am genuinely screaming at your art. I always do, but christ. I usually check out in case you've uploaded something new, your art is a strong creative reference point for me, I hope you know that. It makes art feel fun again.

A lot of the art you post might be doodles and quick sketches, but they have so much life in them, and emotion, and I always, always love seeing it. I have a bunch of your drawings saved in a folder for reference whenever I'm stuck and feel like I should have some more fun, and enjoy what I'm doing. Then I go look at it, and feel immediately inspired, and go back at it.

I started seeing your art because of bnha, and THEN I realized that OH? YOU ALSO GOT INTO TRIGUN? My god, I read the post you wrote about the series just being...wonderful--and it REALLY IS,. No spoilers for anyone, just..it's good. its so, so good for so many reasons, and it hit a chord in my little heart, and now youre making art of it? Dont mind if I do???

I read that you were trying to focus this blog into more serious art, and thats fine, although if you were to also post your funny little doodles anywhere else, whatever they may be about, just say where and I'll be around too >:)) its always so very nice to see anything at all. Aah thank you so much for that sweet ask!! The fact that you have art saved in a folder and that it helps you get back to drawing when you feel stuck, that makes me so happy to hear! It's in a way one of the best things I could hope to achieve, because even though as an artist you draw for your own joy, if I can move other people or even better, inspire them to do art too, then I'm super glad :') I hope you keep on having fun and enjoying doing art!

Ugh, why is Kawi still hanging out with these losers? Please stop trying so hard to fit in, dude, it hurts me.

Oh, Pisaeng. He really did do some soul searching, didn't he? Good for him. I totally thought he was gonna confess to Kawi though. I mean, I think they both know who he was talking about, but I wonder if Piseang knows Kawi knows?

Ha, okay. Yes, I would totally try to win the lottery too if I had time travel capabilities.

I will say that I do worry that Pear is gonna suddenly become a faen fatale because of being rejected by Pisaeng. I don't know anything about this director/screenwriter so I don't know if I should expect it. Can she please just stay her awesome self?

Pfft. I wonder how the subtitlers of this show feel about subtitling someone acting like their job makes them lower than other people. Subtitling is hard work.

Max is such a good friend. I'm very happy that Kawi got past his hang ups with him, because he's just the best and I am always happy to see him.

Not so much Not. He continues to be the worst. And the worst part for me is that I totally get Kawi's need to be his friend. I get his desperation to want to belong, and how winning over people like Not seem like the way to do that. But people like that are not the ones you want to be friends with. Those types of people always need a low man on the totem pole to peck at, to make themselves feel better, and Not has clearly made Kawi his "low man".

I feel like Pear and Kawi could be really great friends, honestly. It interests me that Kawi seems to be instinctively drawn to decent people - Max, Pear, even Pisaeng even though he's fighting the last bit because he knows about Pisaeng's crush on him - and yet he till keeps trying with people like Not out of some misplaced belief that that's the kind of friendship he needs.

Okay, if Max and Pisaeng become friends I will scream in the good way.

1984! Now I want to rewatch The Eclipse (ah hell who am I kidding. I always want to rewatch that show).

MAX. He is s great. The greatest. Maybe Pisaeng should date him (I know he won't but please let them be friends, please. He's so lovely and comfortable with himself and Pisaeng could really really use someone like him in his life).

Oh, does Pear's friend like Not? Girl, you can do better. Although I suppose we might be getting a redemption arc for him at some point. And ha, okay, was that a subtle rebuke from her about encouraging people? Because if so, you go girl. And she's right. It's just as easy to be encouraging and decent to people as it is to be mean, but so often people choose the latter. The funny thing is that I actually think that in the long run, choosing to be nice helps you more, because it feels good to make other people feel good. Doesn't it? It doesn't harm anyone to be pleasant and to encourage others.

Oh, that smile when Kawi got the text from Pisaeng. I have a small hunch that part of Kawi's issues both with Max and with Pisaeng is that he recognizes them in himself and doesn't want to, but I am not entirely sure he knows it. Max wasn't wrong to call him out on his BS about it, either. Even without the romance stuff I want to see Kawi grow as a person.

Aw, okay. That was a very good rejection speech. Honest but not mean, and no shying away or running and making Pisaeng feel like dirt for his feelings. I really really like that Kawi took Max's words to heart, and the he seems to have really internalized them. I know we're only on episode five, but my goodness I like this turn from trying to fix what he thought were all the problems in his life to genuinely working on himself. Because here's the thing. It's not that Kawi's life took a wrong turn somewhere that made everything go bad, not really. There's no one specific thing that he can point to and be like "yes, that there is where it all went wrong" even though he thinks that there is. For Kawi it's definitely more an attitude problem. He was so in the habit of looking at the world a certain way, and now he's learning that if he tilts his head in a different direction, everything looks different.

I think I'm going to like Kawi and Pisaeng's Friend Era.

Well this song certainly isn't going to help Pisaeng move past that crush of his. That poor boy is so doomed.

Speaking of Pisaeng, I really appreciated his whole arc this episode. He was brave in so many ways. I love that he's clearly going on his own journey apart from the thing with Kawi, and again, I need him and Max to be friends. After the end of the last ep though my guess is Max is gonna figure out who has the crush on Kawi way sooner than later.

I haven't read the novel this is based on so I don't know if it's different there, but I do like that this crush has led Pisaeng down his own journey of self-discovery. We don't want miserable, drunk Pisaeng marrying a woman he doesn't love in the future, okay? We want happy, comfortable Pisaeng who may or may not be with Kawi but is still in a good place. I'm also happy it seems to be very deliberately stepping away from the whole "I don't like guys, I just like you" thing, because I hate it (granted I haven't seen it happen recently, but still. I've seen it enough that I'm always wary of it).

and the trenches….girl it’s a mess lol I started my junior year of college and I’ve been burnt out FOR YEARS and honestly I don’t like it but I love learning so this sucks! Plus I lost this really cool paid internship to a NEPO BABY AND I WANTED TO BURN A BUILDING!!! (Not really but ya know what I mean lol) and so many other things and it’s just the first week 😭

What’s wild is that I love reading and coming on here and giving feedback to the writers on here and it makes me happy but I just feel so drained and sad I can’t give it right away :( but interacting with you does make me feel better, promise!!!

And in terms of the story and cute nicknames, I think you already know my love for any of them especially kitten! Sunshine is cute and honestly I get a feeling she gives off the vibes of giving him a nickname and saying it first if that makes sense? Idk lol
