Il lord non lo vuole come erede ma non ha scelta, lo manda a chiamare ma questi … beh l’inizio non è dei migliori. Doveva arrivare di mattina ma si presenta di sera, sporco e non fa bella impressione con i suoi modi alla mano. Suo nonno vuole “sistemarlo”, vuole renderlo un perfetto lord è già che c’è… perché non farlo sposare con l’altra nipote? Così resta tutto in famiglia. 👍🏻 Ci sono vari personaggi, una dozzina circa ma vengono descritti bene e non si crea confusione. 👍🏻 Il lord mi è super simpatico, con le sue occhiatacce e il suo carattere prepotente. Tiene tutti sull’attenti o quasi. Alcuni sono immuni a lui. 👍🏻Hugo fa rizzare a tutti i capelli in testa. È gioviale, genuino, schiva con facilità le frecciatine avvelenate del nonno. Non usa la carrozza ma cavalca e si arrangia! Orrore! Niente cameriere personale! E per cambiarsi impiega solo venti minuti e non un’ora! 👎🏻 Non ho apprezzato la vasta parte dedicata al #contrabbando a mio avviso ha rallentato la lettura, rendendola anche più monotona. 👎🏻👍🏻 Ho apprezzato molto l’inizio e la fine ma non la parte centrale che ho trovato più lenta. 👍🏻 Umorismo, misteri, avventure, litigi, romanticismo, fantasmi. And now for something completely different! Let's talk about The Grand Sophy an audio play adaptation of the book by Georgette Heyer. The Grand Sophy is a light regency drama about the Grand escapades of Sophy, the 19 year old daughter of Sir Horace Stanton-Lacy, who is a well to do gentleman and British diplomat. Sophy's mother having died when she was young, Sir Horace brought young Sophy with him on all his travels, teaching her to ride, shoot, and drive (carriages) with the best of them. But oh my, this just won't do! Sir Horace has decided that at 19, it's time for Sophy to "come out" into society, and so she finds herself in London, without her father, and staying with cousins. Sophy's fearless nature, love of riding, and wit soon rub abrasively against some of her relatives and their friends as she does any number of things that just aren't done! as a woman in Regency England. But she slowly wins them over with her sparkling charm, wit, beauty, and joie de vivre. At 6, 20ish minute episodes, The Grand Sophy is a short listen ready for cooking, cleaning, or running an errand. Well produced, and casted, you'll think you've fallen into an episode of Masterpiece Theater. If you like light regency dramas, like Emma, Masterpiece Theater, or a delightful, unconventional female character, then The Grand Sophy is for you!
