Nas'hrah I believe somewhere at the museum mentions The Girl and he says something along the lines of "--that kid, whatever her name was,--" which implies that she Did have a name, which makes sense (pretty much everyone but Enki would give her a name and he very explicitly was not the one who led her to ending A), but it's nice to have a canon confirmation she did have a name
If NAS'HRAH vaguely remembers her having a name I damn bet everyone was calling her by it

watched a majora's mask analysis earlier today with my fiancee. my verdict is that I actually really enjoyed the op's interpretations, but that I wished that they talked more about mm's literal level and what one can get from it, rather than talking about those events as if they are strictly metaphor. yes, of course the metaphorical layer of the game is rich to dig into, but it's also such an open-ended and surreal game that it's difficult to nail down every single distinct metaphor that can be derived from its events. which is why I consider it necessary to discuss the way the literal layer presents itself and what sort of motifs and ideas exist there as a baseline before you begin looking at it as metaphor
#narrates#zelda#^ longwinded way of saying that i think that both the impeding inevitability of death#the way the characters react to it#and the question of whether or not termina is even 'real' or can be saved are all intensely interesting aspects of the game#regardless of metaphor. you are existing in a world where you empirically cannot change anything permanently until your very last cycle#and in a world that is potentially not real or is doomed in other ways. but your task is still to help these people and save it#which is interesting even before you get into the symbolic spiritual and metaphorical reads of the game#again thats not to say those reads are bad. i think those reads are what people find the MOST meaningful about mm#most of mm's strength lies in its atmosphere and its ability to convey all these overlapping ideas#its surrealism and the richness of its ideas is what allows for an audience to draw all sorts of meanings out of it#it's just also very meaningful in its LITERAL events and I enjoy that quite a lot!#also... I feel like you heavily have to acknowledge death of the author when dealing with mm#you cannot rely on what you think the author intended. because thats both unclear and does a disservice to the games open endedness#which means that your analysis tends to be far more meaningful when you discuss how IDEAS are embedded in the game#and how you personally constructed meaning out of that#rather than relying on your ability to convince me that your specific read was completely what the devs were thinking#idc about the devs tell me about YOU!#this video was way better than most at doing that but I just prefer mm analysis that is heavier on death of the author#edit: i don't mean you should discount cultural context. thats part of the ideas embedded in ths game#i just mean that I don't like arguments that rely on the idea that the devs INTENDED that cultural context to shape the games metaphors

All right look I can listen to "True Destroyer of Worlds," Void's final boss them from Kirby Star Allies, and be PERFECTLY FINE until they bring out the sad "Green Greens" melody
Like why would you hurt me with such beauty, why would you twist the knife of nostalgia with the chiptune section so reminiscent of the original game, WHY WOULD YOU STRANGLE ME WITH THE VIOLIN AND CONCUSS ME WITH THE PIANO IT HURTS I LOVE IT SO SO MUCH AUGH
10/10 final boss theme, gotta be up there with "C-R-O-W-N-E-D" and "Mind in a PROGRAM"
Top-tier, would sob miserably in a ball of fangirl at 3 in the morning again

big fan of games where the game is actually not very fun at all and may potentially actively hate you but unfortunately i am also very easily scared so that seems to leave very few games on the market where i can achieve the goal of spending 50+ hours on the meaningless grind while not getting scared half to death

I think what offends me most about the downfall timeline in particular is how obviously contrived it is. I don't mind a self-referential series at all, and I'm actively enthusiastic for "What if the Hero died and a bunch of sages had to cobble together an alternative way to defeat Ganon?" but apparently the popular answer to the question -- once asked -- is "This makes no perceptible difference at all, that struggle is placed completely off screen, a green guy shows up again later, and subsequent tales focus on the Knights of Hyrule with maybe an ancillary mention of the sages." A cool question is raised, then completely hand-waved away once it's done its job of filling out the rule of threes and adding an extra line on a chart.
I really do strongly dislike the very idea of the 'downfall' timeline. Like it can be fun to play with a version of OOT where Link up and died, there's definitely some interesting stuff to be done with that, but I really hate that the 'downfall' timeline is something I have to consider canon despite it making infinitely less sense than simply interpreting OOT as a prequel to ALTTP. No 'if Link died' qualifiers, just as is. Since OOT was very, very obviously based on the backstory explained in ALTTP and all, y'know. Not everything fits 1:1, but that's par for the course with LOZ games, and the ending of OOT very specifically sets up ALTTP.
So it's just deeply, deeply irritating to me to have the 'official' timeline say 'yeah actually that ending did not set up ALTTP. ALTTP happened in a completely different version of the ending than what you saw', like. I really despise how that paves over the history of OOT and the franchise as a whole for the sake of some remote semblance of 'timeline consistency'. Playing ALTTP and then playing OOT and realizing OOT was basing itself on the backstory from ALTTP was a really cool moment for me and it pisses me off that I'm just supposed to pretend the game I played didn't pre-date ALTTP at all and instead some nebulous parallel version that we never saw in-game was the REAL precursor to ALTTP. I don't care how much it messes up the timeline I'm not doing that.
Literally who cares if Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and ALTTP all co-exist as wildly different OOT sequels. They can take turns. They can exist in a quantum state. Or they can exist in three different timelines the exact way they do now, I don't really care how people choose to interpret it on an individual level, I just don't like it when people treat the 'downfall timeline' as the presumed canon when, going by the actual games of OOT and ALTTP rather than the Hyrule Histoira, that makes very little sense.

Loose doodles for The Star-crossed Temporal Warrior AU!
The AU in itself is a Forgotten World/ Star-Crossed World AU which WILL NOT BE WORKED ON IN COMIC/ASK FORMAT UNTIL THE DLC RELEASES OR WE KNOW ENOUGH INFORMATION ABOUT IT.
I want to have an idea of how this AU works then when the DLC comes out I will add on ideas from the game to this AU.
⬇️FULL DISCUSSION ABOUT THE AU BELOW⬇️
In this AU, the mysterious comet that falls into the forgotten land contains Galacta knight. After lying at the bottom of another dimension for a millennium, the crystal seal he had been stuck in began collecting crystals from empty space thanks to the deep influence of Void Termina controlling him, helping create a Jamba-heart-like crystal casing. When Elfilis began to open various rifts in space to try and get rid of Kirby, it accidentally caused a stir at the bottom of another dimension when it frantically opened up a rift there, sucking the comet out of place around the exosphere of the planet. This allowed the comet to orbit the planet dangerously close to its land. The comet then, after a full orbit or two, was finally pulled down onto the planet, landing near the natural plains not too far from where it was originally summoned (in redgar forbidden lands).
The combination of Void termina's remaining malicious energy, and Galacta's fury from that influencing energy caused these crystals to infect the area and its inhabitants, as well as create new creatures like the crystal monsters we see Kirby duel in certain levels we've been shown already.
What about the starries? Well they originally part of the process that helped seal Galacta away to prevent him from going on a rampage due to the sudden possession of Void Termina, who did so as a last effort to keep its reign of destruction going. The starries themselves were sealed in their crystals like we see in game, doing so to seal away great evil like their gacha figs mention. When Galacta was pulled down to the forgotten land, the starries followed, hoping the seal would not fully break. Unfortunately it kinda did and that's were we see stuff like fallen-star volcano and the effects the crystals have on people.
Kirby, the one who can reverse the effect of the possession, goes out with Elflin, Bandee, and the unnamed dee we see in the trailer in order to rescue the starries and figure out what's happening exactly.
Eventually they get to the volcano, where the seal now becomes broken and Kirby must fight a Void-possessed, crystalized Galacta knight. The pink demon obviously beats him, and undoes the possession like he has with others before. Galacta is a bit out of it, but he doesn't seem like a threat anymore. The starries realize this too, and no longer have to seal Galacta away, going off into space to do whatever the little fellas do.
While this is the "end" of the story, it's only the start for Galacta. Waking up in someone else's bed, bandaged up and only remembering the strange feeling of loosing conscious after helping seal Void Termina away. This puts the warrior on edge.
Galacta as a person is much like Kirby, a genuinely jolly and aloof fellow...until he feels threatened, and becomes something entirely different and very, very angry. And right now Gala feels like he's in danger. After shooting through the chimney with such force he almost cracked Kirby's house, he has to be calmed down by people he doesn't know in a place he doesn't know in a language he can't understand. They don't seem to be able to understand him either, which may cause some issues.
While Galacta doesn't blow up the town, he has a strange discomfort around the waddle dees who don't know what personal space is and are a little too friendly for the warrior's liking. The penguin seems like a lax fellow, and the knight that looks like him is very interesting. Though in the beginning he only trusts Kirby, Elflilin, Bandee, and the currently unnamed waddle dee. The AU then follows him adjusting to this life and learning to cope with the changes of the future and the fact he had to leave the comfortable past behind.
Hyness and the mage sisters also are involved with this AU, which cause some conflict at first but things cool down thanks to Kirby.
Other little Gala AU factoids:
Galacta's eyes are naturally teal, when possessed they are that strange pink like Meta is when he was possessed. I picked teal because Elfilin/Elfilis have a teal/pink-magenta color-scheme and giving Gala that too I thought would be interesting
The crystaling caused a large cluster of crystal to sprout from one of his eyes, causing a strange, shiny scar when beaten by Kirby. This scar acts up and causes Gala pain when if he were to be in another dimension or around certain kinds of magic.
This Galacta was never summoned to fight in this universe/timeline, and rather stayed at the bottom of another dimension until Elfilis accidentally moved him.
This AU Galacta was unconscious fully during his sealing, as well as being partially unconscious during his possession episode. This causes quite a bit of confusion for Gala as he has no one to tell him what happened in detail.
I'm considering this AU's Gala to be transmasc because I can <3
Obviously with story and its elements will be updated and changed when the DLC comes out, especially in the event if Galacta IS endgame and we get a different story than this AU.

welcome to the lifesteal smp i mean the festival of termina today we will be fighting and killing the moon. i am the deadliest player of the deadliest smp and this is my boyfriend whose best friend may or may not be the deadliest new god in termina
more on the fear&hunger au underneath the cut
unfortunately everyone is more or less human here cause i cant figure out how to make minecraft species f&h relevant but in my heart they r still all sorta nonhuman. just dont think too much about it
branzy and clowns character backstories r based off olivia and marcoh respectively. this means that yes rek is reila and yes he is the machine god. rip bro he lived a (not particularly) good life.
branzys gameplay is actually more similar to marina because redstoning is technically a more magical thing than just regular engineering. i didnt give him the title of redstoner cause there r people like mr cube on ls who idk if i want to incorporate yet
clown is pretty similar to marcoh though id say in terms of backstory and gameplay
i havent yet decided if i want lifesteal to be the location of the festival of the termina in replacement of prehevil or if i want the festival to be named lifesteal and its still located in prehevil or located on an smp of the same name but it operates with similar mechanics to both f&h and the ls smp (i.e. this is still a death game where u have to face off against crazy monsters BUT if other players kill you they get extra chances to live. im not factoring in coin tosses here but i guess itd be the equivalent of living even after u fail a coin toss)
squiddo and rat are both merchants! they give exclusive weapons to clown and general equipment to other players. in clowns case i think theyre sorta like the pockethat except instead of kids they ask for his mask or jester hat for the scythe or mace
the mastermind behind the whole operation is (technically) both parrot.... "rher" in this case would be lifesteal admin and parrot would be perkele
that blob in the corner of ash talking to clownzy is actually based off the pig guy who dies if u annoy him too much cause i thought itd be funny since. ash has a notoriously shitty mic. haha get it
im not fully caught up to ls s6 so im gonna hold off on assigning any other character roles or characterization til i get those down lawl
