Ratatouille with Aubergine and Pork meatballs and gemilli. I’m having a vegetable stand off with my daughter right now that’s terribly frustrating and sometimes ends in tears (often mine). It can be almost impossible to ensure her 5 a day minimum as she will only 4 (apples, cucumber, broccoli- carrot at a push). Thank God she eats pretty much anything if it’s in a tomato sauce..I’ve been making…

It has been dropped at my consideration that I’ll have been having fun with cocktail Fridays slightly an excessive amount of. So right this moment’s Friday refresher is a Rosé Spritz impressed by It is also and I so wished to level out that whereas many individuals say I appear like I’ve the proper residence life (my children and husband would undoubtedly argue that time) I clearly do not. I…

You know the kind of salads served in French restaurants? Like a full meal on a bed of leaves? This is one of those.. bold, brassy and brimming with salty and sweet, crisp and crunchy elements. A mash-up of @rachelaliceroddy roast tomato and anchovy salad and her mustard dressing, @we_are_food salad with roast potatoes and @felicitycloake caesar salad (croutons/more anchovies) it’s hearty enough…

Getting your kids to eat more veg.
Part One.
Swipe for the before and after..
When they’re hungry and it’s mealtime, get used to doing the raw veg thing with a dip. The French do it very well obvs. Tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and peppers work well, but you could also try raw cauli florets, mangetout, baby corn.. anything else lovely and crunchy.
Mix it up with the dips.. hummus can feature…

So this is what I was blethering on about in my first ever reel.
Back to school soon and these babies are perfect for lunch boxes.
So. How to make muffins healthier; a few ideas:
🧁Use half the amount of sugar stated in the recipe (it will work. It won’t work in cookies)
🧁Use wholemeal flour instead of white, or a mixture of both
🧁Add grated carrot/squash/beetroot. They won’t know it’s there and…

Probably the best lookin and tastin roast chicken ever. From Marcella Hazan’s bible of Essential Italian Cooking, it’s the best argument for a weekday roast ever. As with all her food, it’s careful preparation and attention to detail in the early stages of a dish that make it outstanding.
Literally chicken with two lemons. A good sized organic chicken (always thinking about leftovers) this one…

Punjabi Bakra melting in mouth spiced lamb with tomato, courgette and spinach.
I feel like nesting today. Already been out on the tennis court for 8am and I frankly don’t feel like crossing the door again.
My Dad always made a curry on a Sunday, we were never really a Sunday roast kind of family.. I’m just not sure it was ever that big a thing in scotland in the 70s.
If you fancy something…

Must be my favourite, family pleasing, 15 minute, one pot dinner. With 4 different veg, it’s deliciously nutritious AND my big girl ate it (with a few modifications). There were sadly just not enough BBQ spoils to go around last night so happily I had everything to make this.
Boil the kettle and pour the water into a large pan, submerging 4 noodle nests as you go. Simmer for a few minutes until…

No prep, wondrous BBQ, with luscious leftovers.
Depending on where you are in the country, today may be your last opportunity to get that grill out and smoke up the house. After years of faffing over skewers, swearing at onions, and burning everything to the same shade of black, I’m going to share with you my 3 minute miracle.
🌽Corn on the cob: happy in it’s own skin, no need to anoint with…

4 ingredients, 4 minutes hands on, 15 in the oven.
If you have a few courgettes on your hands today, please make this. The ratio of incredible flavour and deliciousness to labour is in your favour and it’s possible a child might eat it.
So many of you asked for the recipe after it disappeared from stories (I had forgotten once again to save) that I felt it was definitely feed material.
Half…

Stir fried beef with greens in oyster sauce.
Fastest dish in the West (from the East)..dine in the time it takes for the rice to cook.
This dish is a minor miracle. Normally, my girl would not touch this due to the sauce (too sweet) or the ginger (too spicy) but omg she devoured it.. albeit with minimum greens.
Get your rice on. Rinse 3 times and cover with a fingernail’s worth of water…

Chicken Pie (2 dinners though!)
So, I posted this on stories yesterday as I had a spare half hour and lots of veg to use up AND frankly wanted to make my life easier next week.
If you’re having a roast chicken today and have leftovers, this is perfect. In fact I would cook 2 chickens just to make make this.
I’ve used 2 leeks, 4 carrots and some savoy cabbage in this and serve it with a sweet…

Rainbow wraps..
Getting away with interesting fillings for 5 years.
They look so gorgeous the kids will eat them up without dissecting hopefully. Mix some squished avo with cream cheese and spread across the wrap. Add fillings. Start out with tiny bits of everything if necessary, like a strip of chopped pepper or shredded lettuce. Roll ’em up and chop ’em like sushi.
Lunchbox win.

Leek and savoy pilaf.. started out as another meera sodha recipe but morphed into my fave one pot easy rice dish. The kids quite surprisingly gobbled it up.
You start by cooking spices in butter.. cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, coriander and cumin seeds. The 5 Cs, if you will.
Add some veg…an onion if not leek, both give flavour, fennel would be lovely. Something that you can caramelise. Cook…

Well this worked well. Ready in the time it took to cook the pasta and gobbled up by 100% of my children. May also get by those who frown on saucy pasta.
So, you remember I cooked off loads if leeks at the weekend? This was the base and I threw in half a bag of chopped kale (which I chopped again, because, kids) a splash a water and lid on to soften. Kids do NOT like chewy kale.
Season and add…

Most favourite dinner. One pot, oodles of veg and fibre, cheap, quickish. Usually enough for 2 nights. Family loving.
Soften a finely diced carrot, onion and half a fennel with 2 cloves garlic in lots of olive oil. This takes 12 to 15 mins.
Add a bay leaf, rosemary, tin of toms and a handful of red lentils (they cook quickly and are almost indistinguishable in the finished dish) season, add…
