Gigantspinosaurus sichuanensis, a species of stegosaur from the late Jurassic of China.
Some may remember this fella from Jurassic World Evolution, where I was first introduced to this species.

i saw u have a special interest in dinos— what is ur fav dino? tell me about them <33
Wow another hard to pick question!!!
I have so many... I guess I will pick the one that ive been obsessed with the longest, since I was a little kid. But god, this is such a hard choice, there's so many fantastic ones out there...
Ok maybe this is a lame answer since it's pretty popular, but I'll have to go with the stegosaurs. Like damn that thagomizer!!! <3 what a badass protective weapon!!! And the dorsal plates!!! So fucking cool and we're still trying to figure out their main function. Obviously stegosaurus has my heart, but I really like the species that have shoulder spines too.
For example, Gigantspinosaurus sichuanensis, known as the gigantspinosaurus (it's literally named after its giant shoulder spines lol). It was a medium sized stegosaur, with smaller than usual dorsal plates. But its shoulder spines were over twice as long as its scapula, and longer than its legs!!!
Here are some pictures!

After long time of getting off my back, I was just sketching of a Chinese stegosaur called Gigantspinosaurus sichuanensis (meaning “Giant-spined reptile from Sichuan”).
The reason why I’m already sketch this specie is mainly because the social media such as Twitter is ask everyone one (including me) to choose “what are your favorite prehistoric animals named on the year you were born?” So to me however, the only one who were named in the year of my born is “Gigantspinosaurus” in 1992. At first, I wasn’t a really aware of the stegosaur with a huge shoulder blade, but thanks to playing the first two Jurassic World Evolution game which was featured the latter, I’m honestly okay with this fella.
On the side note Gigantspinosaurus isn’t the only one who were named in 1992 the same year where I was born. On top of that, they were proto-avians such as Patogornis and Iberomesornis, a marine reptile such as Kronosaurus are named in 1992.
Based on incomplete skeleton of Gigantspinosaurus by GetAwayTrike, along two other stegosaurs to fill in with missing parts, these are included a small club-like tail with thagomizer of huayangosaurus and a closely related specie such as a incomplete skull of isaberrysaura as perfect fit and size to the head.

Much more, heavily, based on byakko more than Rei himself tbh. Only way I could really figure something out.

So Stegosaurus has ass for days and the thagomizer to top it all off, big whoop. Gigantspinosaurus has SHOULDER BLADES.
(Also, how many of ya’ll thought this was gonna be some kind of colossal spinosaurus? Haha gotcha it’s just a midsize stegosaur)

Gigantspinosaurus sichuanensis
Tumblr media
By @a-humble-goblin, who graciously updated their old art!
Name: Gigantspinosaurus sichuanensis
Name Meaning: Giant-spined Lizard
First Described: 1992
Described By: Ouyang
Classification: Dinosauria, Ornithischia, Genasauria, Thyreophora, Thyreophoroidea, Eurypoda, Stegosauria
Gigantspinosaurus was an interesting stegosaur from the Oxfordian age of the Late Jurassic, anywhere between 163 and 157 million years ago. It was originally thought to be another specimen of Tuojiangosaurus, however it was later described as its own genus. The original fossil was probably a subadult, and it had an interesting arrangement of spikes and plates on its back, including large spikes on its front shoulders, for which it was named. It was found in the Upper Shaximiao Formation of Zigong, Sichuan Province, China. Its name should not be confused with the more famous Spinosaurus; the two were not closely related. It was about 4.2 meters long, and its plates were very small and triangular. It had very broad hips and robust forelimbs. It was found with scale skin impressions and it is either one of the most basal stegosaurians or a member of Huayangosaurinae.
