random things to watch over the holiday break
happy holidays friends (⸝⸝^ᴗ^⸝⸝)❄️ as many of us have time off from our normal schedules, are taking long-haul flights or car drives, and will be spending hours in broom closets to avoid our terrifying families, i figure this is the perfect time to look back on the year and put together some watch links for over the break ❄️❄️❄️
panel shows
the christmas special of never mind the buzzcocks is always...something else
speaking of, icymi in a panel show miracle earlier this year an anonymous source provided beautiful archival copies of the first 12 series of nmtb — so this is the perfect time to revisit its classic era!!
junior taskmaster just wrapped up its first season! very wholesome, for the whole family (don't forget to check out the taskmaster podcast discussions for each episode, hosted by ed gamble!)
there were some great eps of cats does countdown this year but this one was probably my standout<3
because this series is on sky so we have to be careful circulating it, not everyone got a chance to watch rob beckett's smart tv when it aired this year! some of the panel guests include natasia demetriou, nicola coughlan, david tennant, romesh, and alan davies, among others
idk if this is controversial but i think the australian guy mont spelling bee MIGHT be better than the new zealand version... i'm not sure yet... i need someone else to watch every single episode and tell me what my opinion should be. i also want to thank this show for teaching me how to spell vinaigrette
this, this, and this were some of my favourite episodes of wilty this year!! btw the 2024 christmas episode just dropped!
there were a lot of wild lineups on mel giedoryc: unforgivable this year, but i'd recommend just starting with the first episode of the latest series because..well you'll understand when you see it
this year i made three big lists of random panel show moments that, in my humble opinion, you will love wasting your holidays hours clicking through: part 1 / part 2 / part 3
misc. tv
the royal variety performance 2024
the completely made up adventures of dick turpin was renewed for s2 so make sure to catch up!!! it's SO stupid hahaha
on a similar, less stupid note, ludwig will also be back for s2!
we're all still missing sean lock, who passed away three years ago, so it's never a bad time to revisit 15 storeys high — especially now that we have upgraded rips!
listen jon and lucy may be divorced but that doesn't make meet the richardsons any less iconic and the last two episodes just released!
s2 of alma's not normal is out this year and doing such amazing things for our sophie willan!!
this was a bit under the radar but backstage with katherine ryan was really fun! i love the mostly-documentary concept and it's one of my favourite things to see the backstage culture between these random comedians (judi x ivo killed me)
rhod gilbert's stand up to cancer documentary was really beautiful ;;
am i being unreasonable? (written by & starring daisy may cooper, from this country) is one of my underrated scripted comedies of the year
paddy mcguinness on who do you think you are
in the new jimmy carr-hosted game show battle in a box, pairs of celebs (mostly comedians) are trapped in an empty box for 24 hours, forced to play a series of mental and physical challenges. if you like the lineup then it's worth checking out!
it's christmas. just follow tradition and watch fry & laurie.
standup
ahir shah – ends (2024)
fern brady – austistic bikini queen (2024)
harriet kemsley – everything always works out for me (2024)

john kearns – the varnishing days (2023–4)
rhys james – spilt milk (2024)
suzi ruffell – snappy (2024)

youtube
been enjoying the dish podcast this year!! some of my favourite episodes include claudia winkleman, jordan north & william hanson, saoirse-monica jackson, gordon ramsay, sandi toksvig, richard e. grant, matthew macfadyen, and stephen fry
sandi toksvig hugging guests (2024 edition)
obsessed with this house tour with richard e grant
phil wang was on jolly?? it was fun to see his house
don't sleep on the taskmaster outtakes content!
radio & podcasts
green wing came back for a 6-part radio series and warmed all of our hearts<3
some of my favourite episodes of off menu this year: elis james, john robins, sam campbell, frankie boyle, lucy beaumont, jess knappett, joe wilkinson, tommy tiernan, ardal o'hanlon, huge davies (one of the all-time clips), danny dyer (this one is truly crazy on the ears can't recommend it enough)
the horne section podcast was back for a few episodes!!! if you've never listened before, start with this classic episode you're welcome
susie dent and phil wang have adorable chemistry on this new radio game show
david o'doherty and max rushden started a new podcast about what people did yesterday that has had lots of fun guests! start here if you need to give it a taste
a few RHLSTP episodes worth giving a listen: lee mack, bob mortimer, armando iannucci, rob brydon, peter serafinowicz, ade edmondson, fern brady, among others. if you find your patience waning, he's doing a couple of 'best of 2024' eps! richard's really been focused on his book podcast this year
books
frankie boyle & charlie skelton – a short history of the apocalypse: the vital guide to your future survival (2024)
miranda hart – i haven't been entirely honest with you (2024)
richard osman – we solve murders (2024)
i could go on forever but i've got to stop somewhere heh... looking forward to big fat quiz and more mindless telly in 2025! have a wonderful holiday x sarah

I'd just like to say ever since you posted about Kara and "Sit on my face" by Monty Python it has just occasionally popped up in my mind. In return/revenge I ask what is (or find what is) your favourite Gilbert and Sullivan song! (personally Paradox is the one that gets stuck in my head most often).
I happily remember that post because it just fits her so much. My favorite would have to be "I am the very model of a modern major general!" I won't lie the main reason I enjoy that song is due to Mass Effect. Still a good one though!

okay so, I think it's so fucking funny but also interesting how veggietales characters are either portrayed as being close to human size or regular vegetables. (or both?!?!?)
putting under a read more because I will go on and on about this and maybe go on tangents
love my funny little produce ^^
so I feel like for someone who's never watched this show (not to mention barely heard of it), it would seem obvious to think these characters are itty bitty. I mean, they go on the countertop, and everything's just normal-sized. Larry even eats some popcorn that looks to be in a human sized bowl (as well as regular sized popcorn) in Dave and the Giant Pickle. Larry's also gotten stuck in the sink once in Rack, Shack, and Benny. The only place where everything around them seems to be made for their size is in the story segments. the Bible retellings, the book adaptations, the movie/show adaptations, the original stories. the content that fills up 80% of the videos are in universe acting, so one could say it's just the set. even for the stories that are kinda implied to be a part of the character's canon, such as Larry's Lagoon and Bob's Vacation, could be set within this little mini world they have, kinda like how the Super Why characters live in this magical world in a bookshelf. not that I imagine much of the fandom even considers it canon, but the netflix series did seem to build on that world for the sentieng vegetables, at least in minor details (more veggie theming I guess) all this seems to keep the idea that they're still just vegetable size. Their interactions with humans are very much just audience interaction throughout the show, whether it's through letters, texting, or video calls. The cancelled Bob and Larry movie even touches on the idea of the vegetables being vegetable size, with a comment from one of the show artists, Joe Spadaford, stating that "Bob and Larry would've lived in his nightstand" (quote from the Lost Media Wiki, paraphrasing Spadaford)('his' being a kid called Dexter, whoever that would've ended up being) however, in what we have of the show now, humans never really come into contact with the veggies, not counting the mascot costume performances or spin offs (Os Amigos, FitnessHoff) because of that, most would assume the vegetables are just talking vegetables. BUT THEN THERES SOME OF THE EXTRA-CONTENT STUFF. I'm gonna start with the one that stuck with me the earliest:
Tumblr media
Bob just sitting casually with the creator of the show, but. but. but. he's not the size of a tomato. he's almost as tall as medium sized dog or a baby.
another thing I saw recently:
Tumblr media
this picture is from the Veggie Rocks! album, which seems to have also been included with the physical CD copies. Larry's just fucking around in the studio. this human sized looking studio..... now, thinking back to my point about the canon stories earlier: yes, it'd be easy to say those are just sets made for their size, but what's stopping someone from saying that the sets are in accordance to human size? that the countertop is actually the thing modified for size to make the veggies look veggie-sized!? well, at the end of the day, I think it's up to personal preference, and also it's a cartoon for kids so there's not much reason to put so much thought into it. But I like putting thought into it, dammit. In fact, in the process of writing this rambling, I had actually thought of a third idea: what if the veggies can change their size at will for whatever the reason? the veggies, as well as just being able to levitate things, can also change their size. being honest, that wouldn't even be the weirdest thing about them. Oh yeah, and I went through this entire part of the rambling without even mentioning the animals. animals that are either veggie-sized or regular-sized, depending on how you see it.
VEGETABLES THAT TALK AND SING AND DANCE and also seem to really like Monty Python and Gilbert and Sullivan references. also, they're in a Christian educational show. it's already kinda far out there as a show concept. but then there's the other thing: they can eat. through the first episodes, they're mostly shown eating or at least mentioning or using foods such as pizza, popcorn, or slushies. even then, the mentions of food is already kinda sparse. but coming into the 2000s, the use of food is a bit more frequent (I don't know why I'm so hung up on the food thing, honestly, but I feel like there's something about the idea of a digestive system) speaking of anatomy, it has been brought up before in terms of the veggies' anatomy as plants. the Belly Button song is a pop song that goes on about Mr. Lunt and his super deep dark secret that he must admit to y/n: he's got no belly button. of course, he's a decorative gourd. the umbilical equivocal is up there in his head. this plant unique biology is then carried over to one of the VeggieTales on TV end credit bits, where Mr. Lunt informs Bob (who's in the middle of a mild allergic reaction to shellfish) that he would technically "breath through his leaves," and then Bob comments on that being "cool." Aside from that, they do have animal functions too. like using the bathroom (never shown on screen, but off screen reference and mention)
Honestly, that's kinda all I wanted to ramble about, I think the details of these characters are super interesting to think about
also with the external detail that the veggies can't "have a redemptive relationship with God" so they can't go to heaven nor hell nor I guess have souls accordingly

"The Pirates of Penzance" played at the Uris Theatre (now the Gershwin) from December 1980 till November 1982 featuring an all star cast that consisted of: Kevin Kline as the Pirate King; Estelle Parsons as Ruth, Linda Ronstadt as Mabel and George Rose as Major General Stanley. The musical would go on and win Best Musical at the Tony's that year. The show would pull in several Tony's and was the hottest ticket in town!
The lyrics by Gilbert and composition by Gilbert & Sullivan is till this day considered one of the best musicals ever written; it is right up there with "South Pacific", "Les Miserables"," Phantom of The Opera", "The Sound of Music" and so on and so forth.
Last night at the beautiful Morristown Performing Arts Center "Pirates" was fun, understated at times, silly at times, but always entertaining. More operatic than the usual musical, this show is at times "Monte Python", at other times it feels like your at the Met enjoying a lite opera. Between the costumes (Quinto Ott) and the lighting (Benjamin Weill)- we get the feeling that this musical is unique and special. The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players has been around a long time and has gotten this musical just right!
The comedy at times usurps the big voices and the superb choreography. While the direction takes us in the lite and simple feel, the lighting, which is based in the romantic realm too has this simple but elegant feel to the show. The lights with the brilliant fuchsias, purples and reds in the second act takes this musical in a whole another direction; as does the sets. We get a whole different feel in this mood and tone from the first act.
With a strong lead, the ensembles are just as effective in both song and dance. The shows direction keeps the audience locked in and entertained by the brashness of the ensemble and wows us with the star actors. On this big stage the director has the cast very visible and available for all to wash in as the performers work this two hour and fifteen minute musical to its fullest. The casting could not have been better!
As writers, Gilbert & Sullivan were two of the finest, they rival any duo ever to write musicals. The nuance of both in the way of both story telling and song is remarkable; most of their productions were well thought of around the world. "Pirates" is emblematic of the talent of the duet. It gives the audience something for the musical lover of all ages.
Morristown puts on many different shows throughout the course of each year, from "The Nutcracker" to "Murder Mystery", the producing arm usually brings these fun shows in that have had commercial success on Broadway and tour nicely throughout the country. " Pirates of Penzance" is just that kind of show... the voices are pleasant, rich in value with a ton of talent!
As all the songs hit home in this musical, it is "When Frederic Was A Little Lad", "I Am The Model of a Modern Major-General", "Now is the Pirate Lair", "Away, Away! My Heart's on Fire", are just a few of the great songs here. In Ruth (Hannah Holmes) we get a pure operatic voice, as we do with the Pirate King (Matthew Wages), his is a regal one, a sophisticated voice as well. In James Mills as Major-General, the audience is treated to a rapid-fire quick but on note singer. Sarah Caldwell Smith as Mabel has a crisp voice, she commands the stage whenever she belts out her songs.
The "Pirates of Penzance" is one of those must see musicals. With all the accolades that this musical has had in the past, it is a show that transcends time and is recognized by audiences and critics alike as a classic!
Robert Massimi, Broadway Bob, www.broadwayworld.com, Tony Awards, WACE Entertainment, www.triviscompany.com, nimbusmagazine.com, The Pirates of Penzance, Gilbert & Sullivan.

Tuesday 17th October 2023, 02:45am
I really should be asleep right now. But I can't seem to get comfortable and when I do, my brain just won't shut up. So here I am, writing to you. I've been thinking about you a lot lately. I don't know why. I think I've been missing you a bit. Is it strange to miss you? I don't know. I'm sorry if it is.
I really hope your blood tests came back okay and everything is all well with your health. Do you know when you'll have surgery yet? I was thinking about that the other day and hoping I hadn't missed it, so I could wish you good luck for it. I'm really glad to hear that you've found a job you can do that will turn into a career too and that you can get the training for it. Has that happened yet? Or are you still waiting?
I knew you were thinking of leaving the band, and that's okay. If it's ran it's course for you, then I'm sure your bandmates will be understanding, especially if they're your friends. I really hope the last two shows went well and that you enjoyed playing them at least and I hope the last show you do next month is good too. Will it be near your birthday? Because I know that's coming up really soon too. It's the week after I get back from another comic con, I go away on 17th November and come home on the 19th, so I'm just gone for the weekend. This time it's in Wales, I've only been there once when I was a kid.
Aw no poor Chonky :( I really really hope she's okay now. It sucks when our pets get sick, because they don't have a voice to tell you exactly what's wrong, so it can be pretty worrying. It's a good job that owners can usually tell though when something's wrong and what it could be, because they know their pet well. But it sounds like you did the right thing for her and I hope she's feeling much better now. I'm sure she loved having you look after her and care for her and make sure she was all okay.
Don't worry about streaming and stuff, you can come back to it whenever you feel like it, whenever you have the time. I look forward to the next time you do, I've missed chilling in your chat and just.. hanging out. I liked it before. I actually was playing some of the Cyberpunk DLC myself the other week, it was quite fun haha. But I definitely think I need to start upgrading my PC soon. Definitely a new fan and CPU and maybe a secondary SSD. I would upgrade my GPU but those are so expensive and my 1080 still serves me well at the moment.
I'm sorry it's been a little bit since I last wrote, I've just been busy with work mostly. I haven't had much going on or much exciting happening. Apart from going over to Belfast to surprise my best friend, that was quite cool. We went to another convention, I just booked a flight and a hotel and turned up. She had no clue I was coming and was really surprised when I got there haha. I literally just went over for like.. 24 hours. I'd felt bad cause I had to cancel a trip to go see her at the end of this month just due to work and not being able to get the holidays and stuff. So I was pretty upset and just wanted to do something kinda.. fun and spontaneous? Idk
Ian Somerhalder walked by me too and didn't even notice it, it wasn't until my best friend pointed him out and I was like "oh shit" hahaha. But I was more excited about Peter Facinelli and Jackson Rathbone from Twilight, I used to love that when I was like.. 14. I would have met Ian and Paul too, but it was far too expensive for me. Maybe some day I will. I recently started watching The Vampire Diaries again, since it's spooky season and all and I haven't watched it for years. So I've went right back to the start, I'm at the end of season 1 right now where Isobel is in it (I hate Isobel. And I fucking hate John Gilbert too)
It was also my dad's birthday on 8th October. That was a pretty hard day. I was quite sad and upset all day, but I watched a lot of my dad's favourite programs and stuff and tried to distract myself. Red Dwarf, Monty Python, The Mighty Boosh (which me and my dad actually started watching together) and some Billy Connolly. I also listened to some of his favourite music too. And I got a clootie dumpling from a local bakery (it's like a Christmas pudding kind of but not as rich), coincidentally it was the same bakery me and my dad and grandma and grandpa would go to, it was just down the street from my grandma's house. My grandma used to make him one for his birthday every year when he was a kid, instead of a birthday cake because it was cheaper. And he loved it. It was one of his favourite things. He'd always ask me to bring him some down when I'd go down and visit him in Nottingham, because you can't really get it anywhere in England and to make a proper one yourself, it's a bit of a pain and really easy to mess up if you don't do certain things right lol. When he was in the nursing home, I remember one day the chef had came to talk to him and asked him about food he liked and stuff. He was telling me that they'd asked him what kind of birthday cake he wanted and my dad immediately asked if he could have a dumpling. The chef agreed and said they absolutely could do that and I remember my dad being so so happy. His face was just.. completely lit up, big wide smiles, all excited. I think that's what made me extra sad, because he had been so excited for his birthday and his dumpling. He really liked the simple things in life, honestly.
So even though he wasn't here, he got his dumpling. I went out early on the Saturday morning and picked it up, had a chat with the guy who owns the bakery (who actually weirdly recognised me and asked me who my family were, so I told him and he immediately remembered me from when I was a kid, telling me about how he remembered I'd come in with my grandma to get the rolls and the papers, how I'd come in with my dad for a yum yum or a strawberry tart lol. I unfortunately had to break the news of my dad's passing to him, he didn't know. And he was quite sympathetic. He was a nice guy, just as friendly as I remembered when I was a kid. I'll attach a picture of the dumpling to this so you can see. I stuck a candle in it and everything for him. Sang him happy birthday and cried while doing so. But I knew he'd be nearby. I knew he'd be standing right behind me hugging me while I did. God just writing this is making me tear up a little bit.
I've started some grief counselling too. I think they are really helping me. I'm getting it through the hospice who helped with dad's end of life care, even though the were only involved for.. well a few days.. they've given me more support that some family have (my mother included. I'm still at odds with her. She's done more horrible and nasty shit since we last spoke and.. honestly I'm just seeing her for her true colours now, realising that I've been gaslit, emotionally neglected and manipulated by her for a very long time). My boss has been more than happy to allow me to attend these sessions, because they know in the long run it's going to help me and isn't going to affect my performance at work or anything. I'm actually doing really well at work at the moment, even considering that it is incredibly stressful and emotionally/mentally taxing at times, but I've had nothing but good reports in my weekly catch ups with my manager so far. So I think it's safe to say they can see that I am more than capable of doing the job. I just wanna try get through my probation and then move to a different department. Something that doesn't involve talking to customers lol.
Gran also got out of hospital, which is a good thing. She's back home and still resting and stuff, trying to get her strength back. She was in there for like.. just over a month. Unfortunately we don't think shes gonna be able to get any more chemo though, which sucks. But we're hoping her oncologist will still be able to do surgery for her, we just have to keep trying to get her strength up and make sure she's eating well and we're getting her walking and stuff. Even if it's just to the kitchen and back or around the garden. Small steps. It hopefully will make a big difference. I've been making sure to go see her at least once a week, even just for a couple hours at the very least.
I don't have much else going on right now. It's just work and looking forward to next month when I go to Wales. I don't think I have anything incredibly exciting planned for Halloween, which sucks, but I'll be working this year unfortunately. Maybe I can just relax and watch some spooky movies after work, eat some terrible sweets and enjoy myself a little. Oh and I'm on some new medication too actually, I'm not sure if it's working yet, I don't feel anything different. This is for a physical thing, not a mental thing. But it's nothing too serious, just something I need to like.. manage symptoms of.
I really hope you're doing well, E. I hope everything's going good and that your health is good and Chonky is good and work is starting and surgery is getting scheduled and all the good things. I know it must be getting warmer there too, because it's definitely getting fucking colder here haha. I've been absolutely frozen in the mornings for a couple days now, until I turn the heat on again and warm up. I think it's gonna be a reaaaaally cold winter this year which is unfortunate.
I really hope to hear from you soon. And I hope I've got more exciting things to tell you next time.
N x

GILBERT CROCKETT
AKA
GILBERT KILL BERT*
Putting the banana pepper in the butthole
GARGLING
THE SPUNK OF NEPTUNE
WHILE
ROLLING IN THE CØDY
It’s a web we try to explore with brave hearts
FEEBLE KNIEVEL RIDES AGAIN
BUSTER KEATON IS EATING PEOPLE IN A LAVISH PALATIAL CABOOSE
THE WHISTLE BLOWS
CUZ THEY ALL KNOW
WHAT TIME IT IS
WHOSE LINE IS IT?
WHO’S KEEPING TIME?
WHO’S RUNNING LATE TO THE STARGATE?
WHO ZIG ZAGS IN PARALLELS
LESS OBVIOUS
BOBBING FOR APPLES
IN A TUB FULL OF PYTHONS
EYES ON THE PRIZE OR YOU
COLLIDE WITH THE SERPENT’S TAIL
AS THE CYLONS BEAM UP SCOTTY
AND FEED THE PEOPLE
A STILL TWITCHING BODY
TO DEVOUR
A SIGNIFICANT SHIFT IN
ULTERIOR MOTIVES
BBQ’D SUPPLE FLESH
AND FRAGRANTLY FRAGRANT
SCENTED VOTIVES
LIT WITH VILE INTENTIONS
Sucking the fart out of a dog’s asshole then blowing it out over the flame
Casting
DOG FART FIRE ZILLA BREATH
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Cheese and Tobacco breathe
Words are whispered through broken teeth
More jagged and haggard
Devoid of vowels
Extinguishing the spark
Leaving only the watchers
To wander like old
Moles in the dark
Squares are made then
Paved and laid in
fabergé gelle’
Epoxy and left to set
For years as a
Decrepit security guard
Protects the slab
From feet and incursion
Salivating like a basset hound
Splashing murky puddles
Of drool too cool
To forget but too
Wet to penetrate
The undulating membrane
THE STUDENTS ENTER
THE THEATER OF PAIN
OR OPERATING CHAMBER
TO BOLDLY BEHOLD
THE MEDIEVAL DENTISTRY REVIVAL
The DR enters the space
And claps his hands
Dropping the soiled ether soaked rag
He had entered gasping at while
Desperately strutting
To build the dynamic tension
Required to summon
The frenzy
The sadist BERT who would
Be the subject and star of the ritual that
They had all paid handsomely
And eagerly awaited …
THE DR BEGAN
TO MAKE ANIMAL NOISES
BECAUSE HE COULD HEAR
THE VOICES COMMAND
HIM TO FIRE UP THE BUZZ SAW
AND DIVE RIGHT IN
BERT lumbered
Through the chamber’s doors
And belted out a roar
Like the king of the PRIDE
Cornered and ready to strike
The DR faced BERT
Whose eyes were disguised
Beneath his full face
Leather mask
Exposing only his mouth
HE DREW A DEEP BREATH
AND EXHALED A ROAR
THAT CONTAINED THE WHOLE
OF HIS BEING
The students joined in
As they had been instructed
The sonic human
Dissonance coalesced into a
Thick slurry of sound that
Made BERT sleepy and
Eager to lay down
With BERT in his
Throne and the room bathed
In screams the DR proclaimed
That the moment of truth was here
From a shiny steel tray
He removed a stainless steel
Pair of pliers
And proclaimed his
Blood right to commence
The RITUAL
BERT nodded in agreement
AND the crowd began to COO
The DR thrust the pliers
Into BERT’s wide open maw
And clutched a rotten molar
Like he was reaching elbow
Deep into the River bank
OKIE NOODLING for a giant CATFISH
He struggled and sweat reaching
Further still
into his hyperextended face
BERT’s eyes glazed and calm
In a trancelike state of NIRVANA
The DR squeezed with all his might
And looked wildly through the crowd
Searching for the look of approval
He required to proceed
When the moment was prime
He let out a scream
And violently ripped
The tooth from the
Joyously twitching BERT
Who whimpered and snickered
In excruciating pain
BERT was an
UBER-SADOMASOCHIST
BERT felt lost prior
To stumbling into the good DR’s life
The DR had promised a whole new
Universe of pain
That BERT had been
Quite eager to experience
At first the DR refused to remove ANYTHING
He insisted that he needed to
Earn the privilege of EXTRACTION
The drilling and scraping
Would appease his pain
Temporarily but soon enough
He would wallow in his own filth
Making the DR vomit
Directly into his mouth
Like a Momma bird
When dinner is served
Eventually though his discipline
And undying dedication to the
Vicious pain he craved so desperately
Was rewarded.
The DR took an old rusty drill
And bore deep into his corroded
Gum line like an OIL RIG’s diamond
Tip bit penetrating the cold
Calm earth beneath our feet
HUNGRY TO STRIKE THE BLACK GOLD BELOW
BERT was happy that hed
Been set free from the shackles
Of desire and pain
Free to dream of screaming
And twitching but never bitching
Because the pain was all he knew
As the the DR thrust the gleaming
Steel pliers skyward
And proudly exclaimed
BERT’s name.
At first quit gentle but
Rapidly escalating in
Volume and fortitude …
DR GILBERT CROCKETT was
The master of ceremonies
In the the universe
He presided over
In terse verse
THE MEDIEVAL DENTISTRY REVIVAL
WAS A SUCCESS

I am the very model of a Model of a Modernish Pansexual
I am the very model of a Model of a Modernish Pansexual I've spent my life with Disco Queens and Fairies large and minuscule. I know all types of Dr Who, I quote Monty Python casually, From early in their funny days and specials from the BBC
I'm very well acquainted with all matters of the Drama kind The things I know of Drags and Kings is guaranteed to blow your mind, There's nothing like a belly laugh to make you have a Fabby Day So play with me and have some fun I'm here to make you feel ok.
I understand some bondage stuff and Zombie Marching down the street, I know of all kinds of Tarot tricks my balls of crystal cant be beat In short, in matters future past yes I can find if you insist, I am the very model of a gal who's paranoid and rather pissed
I know Rocky Horror history, and all of it's celebrities I’ve photographs on Facebook Posing with them if you want to see. When I’m behind a microphone I’m really quite professional See me in a corset, I’m really am sensational
Quiz nights are a breeze for me, can’t question my intelligence In short I am wonder I’m the very best in every sense It’s true to say that I'm repeat myself this quote again reflects is all I am the very model of a Model of a Modernish Pansexual
Ooohh, I can write a funny skit and get it played on TV shows I can laugh and sing and dance and act with skills , nah I kid you so When I go out to parties, be don't be surprised, What I'm brilliant at, And when I know precisely what is meant by "commissariat",
When I have learnt what progress has been made in glitter lippery I slap it on so bloody much now as I see how shiny I can be You’ll never find a better Lush yes My ego is still shivering I blame myself I should be working but I'm busy writing this old thing!
Though I write this now, I know I should be doing other shit I wonder now that Channel 10 hasn’t hired me as a great new hit. But meanwhile I’ll sing praises to my wondering And pray that Gilbert and /or Sullivan won’t sue me for this little thing. by LUSHSCREAMQUEEN

Also the country of England (which is handy because I live here) especially English counties and London boroughs (I can point out on a map every ceremonial county!)
Tagging: Anybody who sees this post. Yes, I mean you. 🫵🫵🫵
nine people i want to get to know better

Thank you for the tag, @slutsons-blog! Starting a new post because I'm autistic and therefore mostly only care about the "Current Obsession" question, and want to ramble excessively as usual in that one.

Last thing I googled: the word "dependent", for spelling assistance. which is a good thing because I spelled it "dependant".
Current Obsession: it's been spn since 2016. Truly we are the Hotel California of media franchises. I did recently play Disco Elysium twice in a row in quick succession, and I follow the DE tag. I can't recommend the game highly enough.... but I can feel my Special Interest-level obsession with it fading already. Spn has never faded even a tiny bit and I wonder if it ever will.
@slutsons-blog I feel after reading that you're watching spn for the first time, that I did you a bit of a disservice with my Sam takes to you before in that I mostly talked about Sam's evolution as a character as the show goes on and very little about him from the first five seasons.
Gotta be honest and tell you that although I liked both brothers all along, I was a Dean girl until the end of s6/beginning of s7, when the balance of who gets whumped the most started shifting and my subconscious suddenly decided to switch allegiances. It's not that I liked Dean any less; my id just loves a sopping wet pathetic kitten of a man who has been sexually abused, and Sam got suddenly way more kitteny and pathetic after the Cage. So I don't actually have a ton of takes on "what to love about Sam in the early seasons". I do love early seasons Sam too--she is my beautiful baby princess--but my early seasons takes are a lot more inchoate.
I count myself lucky about my id's sudden defection though, because I think we have limited control of who our blorbos are, and having Dean as a blorbo is a tough row to hoe as the later seasons go along. You know how you noticed that in s6, Dean suddenly gets a lot more assholey without apparent reason? Unfortunately he never gets better again, and in fact keeps getting worse and worse as the years go by, until by the last seasons he is openly far more abusive to their joint child(-in-an-adult body) than John was to him and Sam. It's a realistic picture of what can happen when trauma keeps piling up on people, but it's also honestly pretty distressing, especially if he's your blorbo.
If one is in it for the ship, there's some good destiel content in the later seasons, but if you're in it for Dean, you're left either 1) dealing with the fact he's got extremely significant interpersonal problems that he never gets much of anywhere on solving and that negatively impact his chosen family in profound ways, or 2) pretending he's the same character he was in s1 and Sam is the same Sam from s1, only more boring, and Dean is just trying to put up with him because he was brainwashed by John (or ig 3- something in the middle between those two. But that seldom seems to happen in practice for whatever reason). These two versions of the show are poorly compatible, and that's how the Sam girls and the Dean girls end up in isolated silos. A few people manage to live in both, but not many.
Anyway, I feel like without the context of how Sam and Dean change in the mid to late seasons, the two fics I recc'd as Sam character studies are going to seem insanely Dean-critical, so if you haven't read them yet, you might want to wait until s10. In the meantime, the general recs are fun reads and hopefully do a good job of showcasing both characters earlier on.

Mama Bean, could we get a scene of Dr. Lee having to fight his python Gilbert for his darling's attention? I love snakes. -Pasta Bean
(I am not a snake expert, but this was cute! I hope I did ok! )
“Alright! He’s acting much much better! No mouth rot, no mites, and he’s a healthy weight! He just needed help with shedding is all” You state with a smile, allowing Gilbert the python to curl around you as Lee stood by with crossed arms. He seemed jealous if you were being honest with yourself, maybe he didn’t like people touching his pets? You can’t be sure.
You giggle as Gilbert wraps around your shoulders, gently flicking his tongue against your cheek as he slides and slithers around your form. He had just gotten done shedding, and his scales were shining. He wanted to show off and show you how handsome he felt, it was cute!
Lee however, felt a bit miffed. His best friend is stealing you away right before his eyes, and he almost can’t stand it. How dare that scaley, slimey fiend slither all over your delicate skin and act as if you’re his habitat?! The nerve! “Lee, I’d say your pet is very healthy, albeit a bit rough to settle down” You quip, setting the animal back in his cage slowly, gently petting his back to calm him down and allow him to be comfortable.
“He’s an attention seeker, that’s for sure” The doctor grumbled, glaring at his serpentine friend with a bit of malice. “Maybe give him a shot or two? you know, make sure he’s truly healthy “ He joked, watching as his fried curled up and gave a flick of his tongue, as if to say “Try me, I’ll bite them AND you”. You laugh, shaking your head as you close the hatch to his habitat, giving Lee one of your signature grins of pure amusement. “I can see you two have been at odds. Next time you need a house call, feel free to call me, the vet’s office is open all day, so i should be available”.
Lee nods, watching as the snake pokes his head up as if to say “Thank you” before sliding underneath the pellets in his pen, going still as if he was trying to sleep. “Thank you Doctor Y/N, it means the world you were able to help with his mood. It’s as if he misses you when you leave the house after these visits”. To be honest, he felt the same, missing the smell of your shampoo and the cute little quips you’d make when working on his pet. But he would rather die than admit that.
You pack up with a huff, fixing your hair that was mussed up from Gilbert being curious and sniffing it a bit too roughly, and give Lee a curt nod. “It’s my pleasure Doctor, If you need me again feel free to call! Just give your friend here a nice day or twos rest and he’ll be back to his normal self”. You open the door, slinging the bag over your shoulder, giving a final wave before leaving down the front steps of his home. You could have sworn as you went to your car that Lee was scolding someone, but who? you couldn’t be sure.
Hopefully it doesn’t stress out the poor snake, you’ll have to be called back almost immediately if the pet worsens! The last thing you want is for Lee to be upset at your incompetence, and for the poor thing to feel worse. You begin to pull out of the driveway, when you hear Lee scold someone one last time, making you laugh as you drive away. “That’s not cool man! That’s like breaking the friendship rule number one! “.
