Dream of the Endless x Reader + Corinthian x Reader

Summary: Corinthian is your new drinking mate (debatable), and you air out your frustrations to a hallucination of Dream... except he's actually standing outside your apartment in the pouring rain.

A/N: OK LISTEN UP this is ig a p3 continuation of "Beer" (part one being "Thorn At My Side") but also, you don't have to read it to understand. Corinthian alternated between patting my back and holding me back from dancing on the table, which was honestly such an old man move on his part.

"Hey google," I call, "play No More Sad Songs by Little Mix."

"No," Corinthian retorts, "google no," he grabs the back of my shirt, "I am not listening to another sappy sad song."

I turn to him from over my shoulder, giving him a stink eye, "it's not a sappy sad song, grandpa," I wrangle out of his grip, "it's a good-bye-peace-out anthem."

Corinthian's grip does not relent. He pulls me back down to my seat, "I don't care."

I sit with a thud, though I continue my attempts to free myself from him.

The blonde pulls his hand back eventually, in lieu of grabbing his cup of gin.

"Hey google--"

"Stop."

"--play Joan of Arc by Little Mix."

"No google, don't."

Much to his distaste, Joan of Arc starts playing and I make my way off my chair, onto my tiny, dining room table.

Corinthian shakes his head, crossing his arms, "fine, it's not like I care if you die. At least then, I get to eat your eyes after you break your neck."

"What was that? I can't hear you over this power anthem," I call as I sway my hips to the beat.

The nightmare does nothing, as he can do nothing, but watch as I jam to my jam. Before I can even get to the chorus though, because of my rugged motions, my foot slips. Corinthian, in all his strength and speed, manages to catch me before I break my bones and my table along with me.

He grunts on impact and then yanks me down, "ok, now, I'm fucking pissed."

I yelp when he twists and hangs me on his shoulders. He carries me off the table and drops me in front of my couch. His shades droop a bit down his nose as he bends down in front of me, pointing a finger to my face, "don't fucking move."

I definitely don't fucking move and stand there still like a statue, resisting the urge to dance along to the song.

A few moments later though...

"Hey google,"

"SHUT UP!"

I purse my lips tightly, watching Corinthian as he turns to me from over his shoulder. When he goes back to cleaning my mess (it only dawned on me that I had most probably kicked some empty glass bottles, which then broke on the floor) I count one to ten before speaking again.

"HEYGOOGLEPLAYBOYBYLITTLEMIX!"

"STOP!"

Boy by Little Mix plays against his will.

The next thing I know, I'm latched onto the tall man's back like a backpack one move away from snapping. I'm begging him not to leave, "CORI, DON'T LEAVE ME, PLEASE, YOU'RE ALL I HAVE!"

He grunts, shaking me off as he makes his way to the door, "it's not hard to understand why."

"PLEASE, IT'S NOT MY FAULT YOU HAVE BAD MUSIC TASTE."

Corinthian grumbles something under his breath and grabs my arms, forcing them off.

"Pleaseeeeeeee," I sob as I crumple to the floor like a discarded tissue.

He already made it to my door, but stopped himself when he spared a look before leave. He sighs at the fact I was felled like a disney princess, "get up."

"No."

He opens the door, "fine, I'll gladly leave you like that."

"NO WAIT!" I scramble to my feet. I sniffle and wipe my face with my wrist. His face scrunches at the sight of me, "you're so dramatic."

"And you're not?"

"At least I have class when I do it."

"I so too have class!"

He adjusts his glasses, "if that's what it takes to make feel better"

I give him a scowl. He returns it with a grin. Corinthian takes one step forward, wiping my cheek with the back of his hand, "your tears are wasted on him. Trust me."

With that, he pulls back and leaves.

I release a sigh, watching as the door shuts. I then run up to my window. I knit my brows at the sight of the grey clouds and the slight rain that begins to drizzle. I open my window and stick my head out, looking to the entrance of my apartment, waiting for Corinthian to come out.

When he does, I call out to him. He cranes his neck up at the sky upon feeling the rain. He loosens his coat and covers his head with it as he turns to me.

"Do you want to give you an umbrella?" I call out, placing a hand by my mouth.

"WHAT?"

"DO YOU WANT ME TO GIVE YOU AN UMBRELLA?"

"NO!" he calls back, "I DONT WANT A REASON TO COME BACK TO YOU."

My nostrils flare, "IT'S NOT LIKE YOU'RE THE TYPE TO RETURN THINGS!"

I see Corinthian smile, "GET INSIDE, KID. I WON'T CATCH YOU IF YOU FALL!"

I roll my eyes but wave him a goodbye, "WALK SAFE, CORI!"

He begins to walk off.

I cannot resist the urge, "LOVE YOU!"

Upon hearing that, he laughs to himself, "idiot's telling me to walk safe?"

I, in fact, don't go inside even after being told to. For some reason, the sight of the rain made me feel warm, in all its irony. It made me think of memories where I would be eating something warm under the covers, or how I used to play in the rain when I was younger.

I reach my hand out to feel the much heavier drops.

I think about how Corinthian must be dripping wet right now.

I withdraw my hand.

I then think about how he said my tears are wasted. I wonder if he ever cried over Dream too.

Just then, I look down to the street and see a ghost of a man, Dream, looking up at me, dripping wet in the pouring rain.

I chuckle at the sight of it. I prop my elbow on the sill and my head on my hand. It would have been funny if he was actually here, ready to confess and apologize to me like in the movies. I can hear him in my head-

"I'm sorry," he says, face wet with rain water that secretly had tears mixed with them, "it took your absence for me to realize that I do, in fact, value your presence."

I frown at my script, "that's so cheesy. The Dream I know would never say that."

"I would-- I am saying it. I mean it."

I blink at the man in the trench coat, shaking my head as I continue my internal monologue, "Dream doesn't like me. I'm a stupid mortal in his eyes, and yeah, sure, I may not know trigonometry to a tee, I may not posses a fraction of the wisdom he has, but that doesn't mean I'm dumb... that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt that he thinks I am."

Dream blinks rain water out of his eyes.

"And I'm pretty sure he's not over his ex," I mumble under my breath, "he went through a lot of trouble for her recently and, good lord, Lucienne told me she was one of the muses," I run my hands down the side of my face, "how do you even compete with that? Why even bother? I mean, I would drop everything and go back to my ex if they were damn muses too."

"There is no truth to that," Dream calls, "there is no competition."

I knit my brows as I look down upon him, "you're supposed to be nice. You're the ideation of Dream at the back of my head."

"I am real!" he calls, raising his hands, "I am Dream of the Endless and you have been drinking with my nightmare again!"

I sigh, pressing my lips together, "yeah, this is enough self vs self for today."

I pull back and close my window. I let out another huff as I turn around. My ghost nearly leaves me when I come face to face with a dripping wet Dream of the Endless in the middle of my apartment.

I clutch my hands to my chest as he looks at me, muttering softly, "I am real."

I raise my brows at him as I feel myself realize he was in fact real, as he just said. It takes a moment for me to calm down.

Water pools beneath his figure. I take in the sight of his dripping clothes. In this moment, I realize, not only was he making a mess, he was wearing shoes inside my house!

Because of this, I do not hesitate. I walk up to him and place my hands on his shoulders, "get out."

I nearly falter when he calls out my name the way he does.

"You're wearing shoes in my house and you're leaving a trail of water behind. I am not dealing with this."

Dream is helpless as I push him out of my door. I give him one last stern look before closing the door to his face.

I turn on my heels to grab something to wipe the mess, but I freeze when I hear what I do.

"I meant every word I said," he calls from the outside.

I deflate. My eyes trail to the puddle and water trail leading out my door. Sobriety begins to pound at me like a sledge hammer. I groan as I rip my hands through my hair, "not now, Dream..." I sigh, "I'm not ready to have this conversation now."

For a moment, when he doesn't respond, I have myself thinking maybe he already left. This was why I was surprised when I suddenly heard a voice beyond the door again.

"I will wait until you are ready," he replies, "you need only call my name."

"What do you think were doing!?" Chuya slams two inmates down as guards hand cuff them seeing the crazy mess going on. However, most of the officers were trying to restrain them.

"Stop fighting already! Stop resisting!" Gin said forcing one guy down but they were struggling as she was working on getting the cuffs on him.

More of the more dangerous inmates kept fighting and killing other officers and guards before some worked on the main ones. Officers Brooks and Nakano were working together while punching some but Melinda forces them down to the ground before seeing everything getting more crazy.

"How did this even happen? Did someone try to get through security?" Melinda asked as Yuuka kicks one inmate down. But the two saw more crowding them that one was laughing rushing to separate them. The alarms kept blaring out but Yuuka winces seeing them still holding them down that two rams her into the wall before she winces.

"Got ya little pretty..Finally I might be able to get out of this joint if you give me your key!" he laughed holding her down. Melinda tries to help her but they got surrounded as Yuuka was going to blast a toxic burn to knock him out. He grabs her wrist to stop him seeing her struggling.

"Oh no you don't. You are going to be fun to play with. So why don't you hold still and-" As he speaks, loud sparks of electricity shows over his body that Yuu's eyes widen. The others steps back seeing another inmate but her hand was pressed on the guys back gripping it. The sparks show all over her body but her teal glowing eyes showed anger while remaining quiet.

"........Who the-"

Yuuka saw Oblivion shocking the guy even worse as he screams in pain with every second. The upper part of her face was dark while her hair was levitating around her head when doing so. Though, he lets go of Yuu before she blasts him away right into a wall.

The sparks still show all over her body but the cold expression from her face and eyes told the inmates to back up. Slowly, she looks at them before they tried anything but Yuu heard the inmates some was watching help out to stop this. And from what she saw with the others, they were NOT happy.

"That..should be all of them. Is everyone okay?" Rex asked as the officers nod worried. "Good. That was close but..."

"We got a problem. I think Mr. Henderson activated lockdown. The windows and doors are sealed shut for 24 hours. We can't leave." Melinda said seeing the system but Rex saw. It must be due to the inmates trying to escape. Now, they were stuck in here.

"......."

"Well, at least something exciting happened-"

"Shut up Chuya...." Willie said with arms crossed.

Gin’s Journal Part 5

The port of Kugane is the same as i left it five years ago, the salty wind whipping on my face and the sound of the native people welcome us as we step on the dock. Even after years leaving the city, i still feel awed at the majestic Senmon. The gate of the Hingan that lead us to the Holstery. We spent a bit of time discussing which inn we should stay. I initially offered the Uragshi to stay at the boarding house belonging to the Ittotshu Hanabi Dojo. 

I know for a fact that sensei will gladly have us use the place as all the students have left home for summer vacation to their hometown. The rest that left will not mind having companies.Khatun Qurcaqi decides to stay in Bokairo inn, an excellent choice too as the inn provide a fair price and high-quality service. I remember once writing an article about Hingan tourism in the local newspaper and gave the inn a  good review after they invited me to stay for 2 days and 1 night.

As the person who has stayed in Kugane for sometimes, i am familiar with the laws and custom of the port town. I explained the rules and is glad that the Khatun and other Uragshi sisters understood this.Everyone was glad to have left the ship and as soon as we settled in the inn, the Uragshi went to the hot springs to relax while i went to the dojo with Sara and Nergui. Sensei was happy to see me, it was a happy reunion. He is older than i remember and has stopped teaching for a year now. Focusing on his inner cultivation and only overseeing the Dojo. Hiroki, my fellow Meijin have taken over as the Sensei of the Dojo temporarily until he receives approval to take over completely. We exchanged news and pleasantries. That night, i sleep in my old room with Sara and Nergui.

Speaking about Sara and Nergui, the kids have been very obedient to the Uragshi and i have volunteered to take care of them. Nergui reminds me of my younger self. He is quiet and reserved but takes his responsibility for his sister seriously. The Uragshi, unfortunately, do not have enough capacity to raise children at the moment, i do not blame them as the clan is still too new for younger charge and it would be a considerable burden. Even though my heart is heavy knowing this, the most logical way we should take is request the Bairon to take the kids with them if we cannot find the Arulaq. Once Nergui is older, if he chooses to return to the Uragshi then he can do so.

I spent the next day reporting to Sekiseigumi as a custom, as an ex-volunteer i have few colleagues in the security force. Chief Kondo Hiraizumi gave me my old badge, the man trust to me is something that sometimes weight my heart. I resolved not to misuse his trust and keep the badge in case it comes handy.

I might have gone all around the city for most morning and afternoon, however, my mind constantly moves back to a woman staying in Bokairo Inn. Ever since talking to Dayuuqi above the ship, i found myself unable to deny it anymore….i am surely getting attracted to her. I am trying hard to not make it too obvious so she won't feel uncomfortable.Passing through the Kogane Dori, the owner of the shop pulled me to peruse her wares. Initially, i was going to return to Kogane Dori to meet the Uragshi however the wares caught my eyes. Various items that the owner claim to be popular with the young ladies. Looking at the various colorful hairpins, the owner keeps promoting her wares stating that this is the current trend in Bukyo, the capital and amongst the lady of higher class. I start to try and picture how it will fit Yuu, bringing the item in front of my face and trying to picture her wearing it when a voice greeted me.

I almost dropped the hairpins in surprise. Seeing her standing there wearing a very beautiful Suikan.I wonder if she knows Suikan with Silk Yarn Kikutoji she wears means she is ready to be married...the mere thought brings me to fluster about it but i recovered quickly. Using souvenir as an excuse, i bought her the hairpin which she wears on her hair fitting her Suikan and her beautiful smile. We conversed for sometimes after that, before the rest of the Uragshi came to join us. I offered to take them to the Ijin section since Sara wants to see the Garlean consulate. When we arrived, the Garlean as always is haughty and arrogant. Sara keeps trying to imply that she wants to get in, even jokingly said she may be able to break in. I feel this is quite disturbing since it may pose two kind of danger. First is that the ground inside the Garlean consulate belongs to them. If she got caught, she can be treated and punished according to Garlean law. Second, if the Sekiseigumi found out one of the Uragshi tries to break in, they won't be pleased. The Garlean guards feel annoyed at Sara and was about to see what she was doing when i start talking to them, i shown my Sekiseigumi badge and told them that the Xaela are guests of the Bakufu. This does not seems to deter the Garlean as they shout at Sara to move away. Sara proceed to spoke with the Garleans and they seems to be caught aback. I wasn't really sure what she said to them.

When i returned to the group, a tall male already joined the group and was talking with Yuuqi. We introduced ourselves to each other, his name is Tagadhur and he is an acquaintance of the clan. He seems to be curious at me. As we walk towards the park, i observed Tagadhur keeps attempting to talk to Yuuqi. I know that Yuuqi is a beautiful woman and that she have many admirers. It was foolish of me if i expect that we would not encounter one of her admirers, to which this man apparently is. As we sit near the pond, i conversed with the rest of the group, however, i found myself keep losing my focus as i keep watching Tagadhur tries to attract Yuuqi's attention. The man is not as subtle as i thought as he tries to sit between me and Yuuqi, i feel the same pang and jealousy but thought to myself that i need to be the one who take the higher road here.

I realize the group haven't ate yet, so i went to the market to buy few boxes of Bento. I remember Caqi's wife is pregnant and one of the healers i had a pleasure of acquainted with said that pregnant woman should not eat raw food. When i return and distributed the box, everyone starts to eat except for Ibakha because she was resting. The feeling of uneasiness keeps pulsing through my being, these new feelings i have is really unpleasant akin to seasickness but worst. I feel myself keeps clenching my fist and tries to take a deep breath, but it keeps getting worst. At one point, Yuuqi wishes to return to the inn. I took this chance and approach her, offering my hand to walk with her back to the inn. Tagadhur tries to come with us and Yuuqi rejected him politely.

Then i did the unthinkable... Something that even myself find shocked that i would do that kind of action... I told Tagadhur that if i cannot escort my Fiancee safely back to her inn, what kind of a man i am? My mouth might have said it in politeness but in my mind it was a sword, dripping with venom. The worst was, i did not regret saying it. The only regret i had was Yuuqi might be angry at me for my insolence, claiming something that she has not even acknowledge at that time. I was new, too new to this raw feelings and emotions and find myself lost. All my life, i never dislike a person without clear cause. I hated those slavers and pirates who burnt down that coastal village seven years ago. I fought them and lost because of my inexperienced self-was too confident in my own ability. Spent a year in their stockade, manage to escape only thanks to Nhaama's intervention.

At that time, however, i feel every time i see Tagadhur tries to talk to Yuuqi and his questioning glance he throws at me is scraping and irritating me to no end.  I disliked this man who tries to woo someone who is not even mine. That was low of me and i found myself in later days pondering about this. I was ready to stand in shame had Yuuqi deny my words, but i will never walk away. A part of me was wondering what drives me to do such action and stance? that even if she denies it, my shamed self still won't go. I would later realize that this is the first time i realized that i am falling for this woman...and no matter how i deny it, i am falling hard for her.

To my dismay and the next shocking thing was that she acknowledges that her family had betrothed her with me. I swear at that time it took me all my self-control not to just jump into the pond in joy. I was known to do weird things to express my happiness... Opposite to my happiness, Tagadhur expression was the epitome of disappointment. I applaud him for doing well to mask it and at that time i truly wish we could be a friend. It was ironic, because a moment ago i was ready to fight him right there. It seems that i am not as mature as i think i am... The last words Tagadhur whispered to me was "Give her whatever she wants, even if she asks for moon or stars...she deserves it" i applaud the heart of this man but does he thinks i will give Yuuqi less? i would give her even more.

Our walk home was quiet until the fireworks start to illuminate the sky that night. She seems to be excited and i explained to her about the Tanabata festival. Where the buffalo herder meet the weaver girl during the peak of summer. A symbol of everlasting love, even though distance and time separate. It brings a smile to her face. Suddenly i feel like taking a long detour, however, the inn was at sight. I dropped her by and goes back to the dojo. I was happy, and sleep was hard to be found... I dont care

It sounded good in theory, you, the responsible one watching over Daichi’s nephew, while your boyfriend, Nishinoya, the fun one, tagged along. You see, Daichi was taking Sugawara back to the gym to play with Ukai and the community teams.

You had no objections to hanging out with your boyfriend, and Daichi’s nephew was an angel. That’s why you were so panicked when you couldn't find the toddler you were supposed to be watching.

“Hang on, Noya! Where’s the baby?! I thought that you were watching him!” You shout from the kitchen, Kraft mac and cheese cooking on the stove while you turn to try to catch of glimpse of your boyfriend.

Noya pops his head in, his eyes wide as he stammers, “I- I don’t remember! We were playing on the couch- wait no! We were playing on the ground… no that’s not it.”

Your eyes widen as you stir the pot quickly and put a lid on it and then state, “C’mon babe, when did you last see him? Think! This is important!”

Noya’s face goes blank as he tries to think, and you groan in frustration, moving to turn the stove off. You brush your hands on your jeans before grumbling, “This is gonna be way harder than we thought.”

The two of you divide and conquer, you told Noya to check the upstairs while you searched the main level. You duck in and out of rooms, searching up and down until you see a leg sticking out from under a blanket on the bed.

You sigh whenever you pull the cover back to your shared bed with Noya, spotting Daichi’s cousin sleeping soundly under the covers. You gently wake him up before calling, “Noya, I found him!”

At that, Noya comes running into the room and yells, “Cuddle pile!!!!” So, the three of you ended up napping the afternoon away, leaving Daichi and the mac n cheese in the dust.

" This is the personal journal of Ochigin Kha Uragshi, part eleven. Whoever found this, know that this is an actual account of my life. As with the previous ten part, i make it a habit of writing one journal for each year after i left home. Part 1 to 2 of my journal depicts my earlier part of the journey to seek for my fiancee across Othard. Up to the part where i was hunted by the Southern sea pirates after freeing their prisoners. I still wake up sometimes smelling the pungent odor of their stockade and my subsequent escape. Part 3 to 5 depicts my journey to the smaller islands of Hinganshi, it was good years and i learned a lot of the Hingan. The most notable were when i mediated some tribes disputes and found out a number of Xaela that seems to originate from the Haragin many years ago, there's also case where i lay sick in delirium from a strain of sickness that only affect Xaela.

For each of the place i visit, i would ask around for anyone who might have seen my fiancee. Some of the people who i met, some briefly another longer would react the same when they hear my quest. The same look of sympathy, then incredulous, attempt to dissuade, and finally acceptance. I dub this reaction as "Ochigin's four" and it is always hilarious to see someone goes through it.

Last year, i was hoping when i write journal number eleven, that i would be in cold Coerthas...looking for someone i might never found in this life. Yet, seek is the only recourse i have to keep me in my lone vigil...i have faith that Nhaama never created someone without their mate. Mine is simply a bit more difficult than others to seek. I still hope for a happy ending, although many nights i would wake up with sweat on my face...when i dream that i'd found a grave. or even worst, to die in obscurity while my family waits for me all these years. Many times i would consider to just pack away and go home, yet the face of my mother as she sends me off that one bright morning in December, along with her words of "Gin, if you are tired then return home son...you will always have a place to return to" spurs me on.

That and the dream of a girl who grows up with me...always beneath that field of stars or the red sunset of the steppe.

When i purchased this journal for the eleventh part, it was in a busy bazaar over Thanalan. The tea shop that i visited on my way over to the port of La Noscea, spoke of a clan of Bairon...living in western Sagolii. Truth be told, despite their numerous number in the desert, the Bairon is quite elusive to meet as they travel deep into the desert for many months, unseen by others until it is the time of Tsagan Saar. I decided to visit this clan, at first i thought that the reception would be hostile, such as the treatment i received from some of the tribes and clans here in Eorzea. Although to be honest there are also those who are cordial.

The Turuk Bairon is an enigmatic clan, the Chieftain Bairon un Algun, 14th of his line, is a very warm and welcoming man. His gestures and behavior would not make him different than any of his other men. Yet the bearing and his way of speech, resemble his ancestors. Chieftains of Xaela from an unbroken line of succession. I am impressed by his character more than anything. This is a man who refuses to sit on a different level than his subject, yet still, command enough influence that makes Xaela flocks to his cause.

During my stay, i found an older brother figure in the Chieftain to which i never admit until now to avoid him teasing me further. We even exchange sake and perform brotherhood oath. However, as i am a Kha and i am traveling to seek my fiancee it means i cannot truly become a Bairon. We made peace with this fact and he never pushes conversion to me. His respect and friendship, i will remember until the time i breathe my last.

Perhaps it was meant to be or perhaps Nhaama one day decides "Hey, probably i need to give this man a break. Give him some clear sky sometimes. Probably have him finally met his intended one" or maybe its my mother's prayer back in Othard. During my last days with the Turuk, i overheard their sister clan which is the Uragshi from Bairon un Maral. Maral is a warrior of Turuk Bairon and serves as Algun's right-hand woman. Her influence in the clan is palpable. She is the one who told me also that the Chieftess of the Uragshi were of Himaa, before they decide to break off and start their own tribe.

To some, this is not a big thing, however for Xaela who are deeply rooted in clan identity...this is a bold move that signifies their open mind. To accept changes and make their own mark in this world. Unfortunately, my plans to visit the Uragshi for an interview had been marred by several delays. At the same time, there are clue that leads me to another Himaa living in the Shroud of Gridania. When i met her, however, she is not the person i am looking for. Disappointment is my constant companion, so it barely hurt anymore when i know that she is not my fiancee. I just decide to push on.

When i return to the Turuk encampment that day, i remember the sun was setting and i entered the Gher. Algun is nowhere to be seen but there was this Lalafell with his pet, talking to him was a Xaela woman. This woman turns out to be the Chieftess of the Uragshi, one of the twins Khatun. She introduces herself as Dayuuqi Uragshi. Now i have met many women during the course of my travel, of varying beauty...yet that day when i met her i noticed her mismatched eyes color and thought it was beautiful.

We spoke for a long time and i came to know her artistic aspiration besides a Chieftess. She plays Morin Khuur, i remember mother would play Morin Khuur every evening as we sit near the fire. I would very much like to listen to it once more in this far away land. The conversation was engaging, i found myself intrigued by her way of thinking which has her own uncertainty towards some issues but she keeps on pushing forward. I would found this to leave its mark on me as i research more about her. During the course of that research, i had to stop myself several time to make sure i am doing this for the sake of journalism instead of ulterior purpose.

As the call for evening prayer was sounded, the discussion somehow turns to me and my quest. I told Chief Algun and Dayuuqi about my quest and my search for Himaa twins. By the end of it, she seems upset...i never saw someone acted out of "Ochigin’s Four" before. I wondered myself if she thinks i am a liar. Nevertheless, i seek to request for her forgiveness. Planning to seek for her and to interview her twin.

At that time, i thought that her eyes are striking...never would i thought that its owner would change my life forever...
