Get in the Car, Loser! plushie… and console port!

Hey... can you keep a secret? Everyone knows that Sam Anon was the cool goth megababe healer in the party that defeated the Machine Devil, but did you also know her real name is secretly Princess Sam Under Heaven? That's right! The princess herself! She helped keep the party alive and fighting with her support and ravage abilities—who knows what powerful magic you could gain from this trinket of an all new legendary hero? This cute lesbian disaster has famously proven she'll join you on any road trip you tell her to... but getting to spread out her legs and rest at your desk would be nice too.

That's right! We're doing one more plushie in collaboration with Makeship, this one of Sam from Get in the Car, Loser! I've been holding onto the prototype of this one for a bit now and I'm really happy with how she turned out... I wouldn't be making these if I wasn't excited about them too! Man. She's so cute. Look, it's OUR GIRL! ...anyway. The way Makeship works is that they take crowdfunded preorders and only make that many, and they'll need to get 200 orders to make it happen. It'll cost $29.99 and the campaign will be running for all of Pride Month until July 2!

Plus... we've got one more bit of news! This one's huge!

Coming to the Nintendo Switch™ this September, this special edition includes all four chapters of the battle to fight the Machine Devil, plus the bonus beach DLC Battle on the Big Boardwalk, and the culminating final extra story DLC Fate of Another World!

I'm really excited about this one, this is my first-ever console release, so I'm a little starstruck that it's actually real!

Just finished Get in the Car, Loser!, kicking back during the credits after really enjoying the game. Genuinely really fun, with a great story and soundtrack to boot. It’s always nice seeing queer centric games and whatnot. Having queer and trans centric issues outright talked instead of being entirely subtext is refreshing! Nothing wrong with the former, I’m just a lot less used to the latter. Had a really good time with it overall.

And also??? My eyes bulged during the credits seeing that Toby Fox contributed one of the guest stories???????? LIKE HELLO????? I had seen Deltarune comics about this lil poem but I had no clue it was from this game. Was surreal seeing one of my absolute favorite creators had contributed to a game I absolutely loved.

GOTY 2024 #4 - Get In The Car, Loser!

Putting GITCL on this list is maybe the biggest cheat so far. In addition to not being a game that came out in 2024, my first time trying to play it wasn't even in 2024. I had bought it soon after it came out, played an hour or so, and then put it down. I found the gameplay mechanics to be too obtuse; and considering how fast-paced it was--leaving little time for me to think about my next actions--the difficulty was unforgiving.

However, two very big changes happened in the intervening years. First, GITCL got updates, adding an easier difficulty for people like me who needed a bit more wiggle room with the combat. And second, I started dating Fabby in 2024, who used to speedrun the game. I figured that the perfect way for me to give the game another shot was to stream it during our weekly video dates.

This turned out to be a fantastic decision. I was able to rely on Fabby to guide me through some of the game's more esoteric systems, and after two or three hours I was feeling a lot more comfortable with (and even enjoying!) the combat system. We started voice acting the characters (I took Angela and Valentin, she took Sam and Grace). I sung along to the victory theme. The game that I had initially thought of as the first Christine Love project that was a complete whiff for me ended up becoming one of my favorites by the end.

One of the things I love about video games is how much they can gain by playing them socially. Simply having friends to chat with and watch me stumble through something has opened me up to things I wouldn't have normally tried if left to my own devices and deepened my appreciation for games I already loved.

I've spent the last 5 minutes trying to figure out a clever way to tie a bow on this post, but it's just not coming to me, so I'll leave you with this final thought: Angela is literally me.
